My wife has Windows 7 home premium x64 on her laptop and is using Word 2007. The problem she is having is she will open a word file, change it up, save it, then re-open it later and its the old file not the new one. Where as I can open the edited file on my desktop running the same OS but with Word 2010 and the file that opens for me is the newest version.
View 3 RepliesI'm currently running Windows 7 Home Premium and whenever I try to click on a setup exe file, it would open in ms word. I've searched this forum and tried the MS Fix it patch but it didn't work. I can't even upgrade registry optimizer since it opens in word.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently ran into an issue where this installation on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit is trying to open up all my programs in Word, they all have the MS word icon as well, so for instance, when I click on Nero, it will try to open it up in word and we get an error because it is not a word file. This is on all Program .exe files. There are no options to change the file association in the default programs in control panel. I have only seen a few fixes for this which involve the registry, I have checked these, however, all registry keys are correct. System restore fails as well, have tried multiple restore points to no avail. We have also ran norton, and malwarebytes on the system is it runs clean.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use tags to keep things organized. I can edit and update the tags on Word 2003 files just fine. But when I try to edit and save them on the newer files I get the following error:I've checked ownership and permissions, they both appear to be set properly, and that gives a different error anyway.I've also noticed that the older Word 2003 files allow for a thumbnail icon of the document, but this doesn't work for 2007 even if the thumbnail box is checked. I can edit the document information inside Word of course, but that doesn't show up in Windows Explorer searches.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThere are strange icons when I am in Windows 7 with Office 2007. I first noticed this when I needed to do a project. Because of the lack of new software, I had to save the file in the doc file format. Then, when I tried to open it to edit it, I noticed that the file icon was not right. It was the blank file icon with the Word 2007 icon on it. Then, I noticed that the rtf files have the correct file icon for doc files. The files can still open, but the wrong icon drives me nuts!

I am currently using Microsoft Word Starter 2010. The only way I seem to be able to open the files in my documents folder is opening Microsoft Word Starter 2010 first then go to file -> open the .docx file. If I try opening it directly from my documents folder without opening Microsoft Word Starter 2010 first, there's a popup that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."

I then get the error "There was a problem sending the command to the programme".The only way to get rid of the splash screen is through task manager and kill the process.I have unistalled office and re-installed then updated with SP1 and 2 for it.I am still getting the same error. All other office applications are working fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a recent installation of Windows 7 Professional 3 weeks ago.The past 2 days, Word 2007 will not open when i double click a .docx document from Explorer.For a couple of seconds a 'spinning wheel' is displayed...and then nothing.I went to Control Panel, Defaults, and checked the Application for .docx and it is Word.The strange thing is that sometimes it does work.I am clicking very fast And Windows 7 does display the spinning wheel for a second or two.

If it�s not a bug, and can be �fixed� by your helping me, that would be wonderful! (I use Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit.) This is what does work just fine: From Word, I open a file, then open another file, then another. I am able to use the CTRL-F6 to move from document to document.This is what does not work: I open those same 3 files from Windows Explorer, by using the mouse to select them and hit ENTER. The files do open in Word. However, the CTRL-F6 keystroke does not work to be able to move from document to document. In the latter, it�s a little bit as if Windows Explorer is starting multiple copies of Word. However, from the Word icon on the taskbar, both cases look the same, i.e., when I hover over the icon, I can see the 3 miniature files, and can click into any of them. I�d like to understand what�s going on that�s different in the 2 cases. But I�d really love to learn of how I can make the latter case work. With my work, I do this process (open multiple files from Windows Explorer) dozens of times a day, and I need efficiency. It takes a lot longer to open each file one-by-one. It also takes longer to not be able to use CTRL-F6.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I was using Word 2007 under XP I never had a problem with it not opening, or closing while in use. Now that I am using WIndow7 64-bit, I regularly have the problem that:
A. If I try to open Word directly, I often get a message that "There is a problem with Word. Windows is searching for a solution." (Paraphrased.) Invariably the result is that Word shuts down. The only recourse I have found is to restart the computer. Happens several times a day.
B. Sometimes even while working with a document, I get the same message and result. The error occurs more often if I have a document open and then try to open another one.
I don't recall the same problem with Excel 2007, and have only used Power Point 2007 once (no problem at that time). Is there a way to "repair" word 2007? Must I reinstall it? HP Pavilion p6247, Athlon CPU, 2.3 GHz, Windows 7 64-bit; Microsoft Office 2007 Pro.

This morning I opened a Word 2010 document and after quite a while of some sort of an installation, I was able to open the Word 2010 document. I did not think too much of it, except that later I was sending an e-mail and attached a Word 2003 document and when I went to check it (i.e. open it up) it opened in Word 2010. How do I disable Word 2010 as my default program to open Word documents. I do not want to uninstall the program, but at this point I am not ready to learn how to use Word 2010.

I have the past month or so been confronted with a type screen I have not seen before. I was trying to make it come back up again but I can't right now but its a green screen and it has commands at the type like EXTRACT and so forth.
