I just uninstalled something related to Microsoft Office and now I can't seem to open any .docx files in my documents anymore. I am currently using Microsoft Word Starter 2010. The only way I seem to be able to open the files in my documents folder is opening Microsoft Word Starter 2010 first then go to file -> open the .docx file. If I try opening it directly from my documents folder without opening Microsoft Word Starter 2010 first, there's a popup that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
My Microsoft Office 2010 cannot be opened and the notification keeps on saying that the Microsoft Office is downloading the required feature, the Microsoft office may appear unresponsive temporarily as required files are downloaded".
I recently ran into an issue where this installation on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit is trying to open up all my programs in Word, they all have the MS word icon as well, so for instance, when I click on Nero, it will try to open it up in word and we get an error because it is not a word file. This is on all Program .exe files. There are no options to change the file association in the default programs in control panel. I have only seen a few fixes for this which involve the registry, I have checked these, however, all registry keys are correct. System restore fails as well, have tried multiple restore points to no avail. We have also ran norton, and malwarebytes on the system is it runs clean.
My wife has Windows 7 home premium x64 on her laptop and is using Word 2007. The problem she is having is she will open a word file, change it up, save it, then re-open it later and its the old file not the new one. Where as I can open the edited file on my desktop running the same OS but with Word 2010 and the file that opens for me is the newest version.
I am unable to open files on Word Pad; I get a document w unintelligable letters and numbers. I had been able to open PDF files w Adobe Acr. 9 but I believe inadvertly changed somtihng.
I believe Ive run into a bug with Windows Explorer, however, it could possibly be with Word 2010. If its not a bug, and can be fixed by your helping me, that would be wonderful! (I use Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit.) This is what does work just fine: From Word, I open a file, then open another file, then another. I am able to use the CTRL-F6 to move from document to document. This is what does not work: I open those same 3 files from Windows Explorer, by using the mouse to select them and hit ENTER. The files do open in Word. However, the CTRL-F6 keystroke does not work to be able to move from document to document. In the latter, its a little bit as if Windows Explorer is starting multiple copies of Word. However, from the Word icon on the taskbar, both cases look the same, i.e., when I hover over the icon, I can see the 3 miniature files, and can click into any of them. Id like to understand whats going on thats different in the 2 cases. But Id really love to learn of how I can make the latter case work. With my work, I do this process (open multiple files from Windows Explorer) dozens of times a day, and I need efficiency. It takes a lot longer to open each file one-by-one. It also takes longer to not be able to use CTRL-F6.
I have several machines that are unable to open files from links/attachments, it appears to only have the problem with Word/Excel/Web links as PDF and PowerPoint appear to open correctly (although possibly a bit slow)For example if I receive an Excel attachment if I try to open it directly from the attachment, Excel opens, however the spreadsheet itself never opens. If Excel is already open when I attempt to open the document, it will then open the document. It does the same thing for Word where it opens word but not the document, unless word is already openWhen you click a web link, it does not even open Internet Explorer, however if you have IE open when you click the link, it will open the page in a new tab.
I am taking an online college course. When answering questions we were advised to first type our answers into micrsoft word and then copy and paste into the website. The school website only has basic spell check that is the reason for copy and pasting.I have Word 2010 and Windows 7.
I sorted my desktop, and put the desktop shortcuts (Microsof Word, Excel, outlook etc...), onto task bar (next to start button) however I have come back to PC and they have all seemingly have converted to Microsoft word. When I open start menu, all my recent programs have again converted to word. When I have opened any of these a word document opens, a load of gobbildygook, as well as can not open in dos mode.I have managed to cercumnavigate word and excel, by opening one of my exixting files starting a new document and saving this to desktop, but can only do this with paint, word, and excel.
I tried to find some folders and files a few days ago, and found that the folders had completely disappeared from my computer. I thought that perhaps I had accidentally deleted them, so I used recuvar to try and retieve them but they were nowhere to be seen. I am sure that I didn't delete them, and if I had they would have shown up on the recuver deep scan, but they didn't. I then thought they could have been deleted by a virus, but when I did a scan I only found a tracking cookie- that's the only things I found.
Sometime, When i use microsoft office (power point, MS word) there is a issue "Microsoft word has stopped working", I tried to exit MS office and reopen, but this issue still come back, after that other issue are arised (example: Windows explorer has stopped working, microsoft powerpoint has stopped working).I have tried to restart my computer but some minutes later these issue are araised. I'm also re-install OS and try to fix but no effect.
I have Windows 10 and originally I had a paste options menu popping up each time I pasted so I could decide which format to use. Now the only option I am ever given is Keep Text only. I have tried resetting the default paste settings, but this makes no difference whatsoever. It makes no difference whether I select Paste on the screen or use Control + v on the keyboard. It makes editing documents so much more time consuming.
I have Microsoft Word 2010, and the last couple days I haven't been able to use it.Whenever I open it up and start typing, it freezes. A box opens up and says"Microsoft Word has stopped working." Then it closes
My Microsoft Word trial recently ran out so I started using OpenOffice, which I actually like. The only problem is is that I don't have a margin on OO. Whenever I used MW my printed pages would be indented nicely. I have been getting in trouble with teachers since I am supposed to have 2.5-3 pages and OO gives me 2 pages. I need to set up the margins and indentations on OpenOffice
I have open a program and this laptop ask me to choose a program to open it.I choose microsoft word and all the icon in the desktop change to microsoft word too. When i open a folder the microsoft word appear.I am very confuse how to fix it.

I am running Win 7 andsomehow all of my desktop icons have converted to microsoft word. In fact all of the software in Programs have been hyjacked. Now I can right click on the desktop and selest "open with" then click on any of the choices available in the dropbox and this will change all of the icons. But still unable to open. The interesting thing is my wife (as another user) has not been affected by this at all. Business is good for her side of the computer.
Ok I am sitting here watching taskmanager, winword.exe is hovering between 10-11% cpu usage (with it now in background idle) and 20% or more when I do activity in a winword window. This seems abnormal a word processor needs so much cpu power even when just sitting idle, to give you an idea 10% on my current cpu would probably equate to about 80% on my laptop's celeron which is absurb for a word processor.I currently have 10 documents open, it seems to use about 1% per document, all documents are text only and average 1 page long.
How to activate Microsoft word 2010 professional plus? It says the copy of Microsoft office is not activated. It was already installed when i bought the computer. Not purchased it separately.
