View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently ran into an issue where this installation on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit is trying to open up all my programs in Word, they all have the MS word icon as well, so for instance, when I click on Nero, it will try to open it up in word and we get an error because it is not a word file. This is on all Program .exe files. There are no options to change the file association in the default programs in control panel. I have only seen a few fixes for this which involve the registry, I have checked these, however, all registry keys are correct. System restore fails as well, have tried multiple restore points to no avail. We have also ran norton, and malwarebytes on the system is it runs clean.

However, if I click on a folder "Fixed Assets" to open up a workbook, Excel looks at the latest folder when wanting to open up further files. I want Excel to always default to My Documents
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.
Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.
All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.
I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.
since I installed SP1 for Office 2010 I have problems with opening some (not all!) older Word documents created with Word 2003 (*.doc). I get a message that Word can't read the document and it is probably corrupt. On a other client (same OS, Office 2010 without SP1) I can open the same document without difficulty.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI love the new taskbar and the "right click" on a pinned programme to access recent files & pinned files. However, while this feature works perfectly for Word, when I try to open an excel file from the taskbar, or even as an attachment to a received e-mail, I get the message " there was a problem sending the command to the program". The excel program itself opens if it is not already open, but the selected file doesn't. I can only open the file by going through "office button/open". If it is an e-mail attachment, I can only open it by saving it to one of my folders, and opening it via "office button/open". Additionally, once I attempt to open an excel file from the taskbar, the excel symbol on the taskbar displays a yellow/brown border instead of the normal border.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI read somewhere how you can choose the default program to open a folder with, but now I cannot find it again, and I also cannot find how to do this.
I had done it and changed the default file manager, but I want to reverse the change. I can't get to a window or dialog box that lets me change the file types windows displays, or that lets me edit the default program when I click on a folder icon.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI normally use Word 2003 for documents, although I use Outlook 2010. This morning I opened a Word 2010 document and after quite a while of some sort of an installation, I was able to open the Word 2010 document. I did not think too much of it, except that later I was sending an e-mail and attached a Word 2003 document and when I went to check it (i.e. open it up) it opened in Word 2010. How do I disable Word 2010 as my default program to open Word documents. I do not want to uninstall the program, but at this point I am not ready to learn how to use Word 2010.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently moved from XP to 7 and realized that due to the change in path to my documents folder any references from one Excel workbook to another no longer work because the reference is to an absolute path and expects the "C:Document and Settings..." path rather than "C:users." that Windows 7 uses. Having to change each reference in my many spreadsheets manually is just not an option. Are there any tools that could help with this? I've already tried Find & Replace to change the path but the Excel still asks to select the actual file that i'm trying to link to which is still very time consuming.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I've noticed that some '.tmp' files have been created in default 'Downloads' folder of Win7 which is located at 'C:UsersUSERNAMEDownloads'. Here's a pic:
I don't use the default downloads folder for storing my downloads and I have configured all my browsers to save files to another location. But since last month, I noticed these small ".tmp" files being created in default downloads folder. I've been using Win7 Ultimate for almost 3 years now and I've never encountered this before. Or is there any way that I can see what program has created these temp files.
BTW, I use multiple browsers, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and sometimes IE8. I'm pretty sure it's not IE8 and Firefox coz I've been using them for a long time and they've never created temp file in 'Downloads' folder. I've recently installed Chrome and Opera and right now Chrome is my default browser. I went and cleared all my browsers' cache files using their own method withing the browser, but they are still there. Really annoying. I know I just can delete them, but I want to know which program has created them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an excell spreadsheet located on the server. It contains hyperlinks to PDF's located in a sub folder in the same directory. When I try to follow the link, the adobe window appears for a second and crashes without opening the file. It will do this over and over again. I can open the PDF's directly without any problem. Also, if I open Adobe and keep it open, the PDF's will open via the links with normal functionality. None of the this behavior was present when I was running XP Professional.

Basically, the title sums it all up. Everytime I load the windows 7 professional, the 3 programs loads itself up too. Both Word and Excel starts with an empty page. IE9 will try to connect to the internet. And I can't seem to disable them from autostart. I have looked in the Startup folder. It's empty. I've tried msconfig. I don't see anything related to IE9, or MSOffice in there.
