Adobe Crashing When Opening Pdf Hyperlink From Excel
Jul 11, 2011
I have an excell spreadsheet located on the server. It contains hyperlinks to PDF's located in a sub folder in the same directory. When I try to follow the link, the adobe window appears for a second and crashes without opening the file. It will do this over and over again. I can open the PDF's directly without any problem. Also, if I open Adobe and keep it open, the PDF's will open via the links with normal functionality. None of the this behavior was present when I was running XP Professional.
I have an Excel spreadsheet that tracks document reviews. One form of evidence that a document has been reviewed is an e-mail from the reviewer (eg, "I've reviewed it and told John to make corrections as per the attached").
Aside from printing the mail to a pdf and saving it somewhere (which could involve printing each mail and attachment separately, then linking them together somehow), is there any way the mail itself can be saved in such a manner as clicking the link will open up the mail and all its attachments?
On my old computer I have Excel docs prepared using Windows XP and MS Office 2000. I have transferred all to a portable hard drive. My new computer has Windows 7. I've installed Office 2003 because I do not like the current version of Office. When I open the Word docs they are fine. However, when I open the Excel docs they appear as a .pdf not supported by Adobe. When I open them on my wife's computer which is Vista and MS Office 2000, they are fine. I really do not want to have to recreate the Excel docs using Office 2003. What, if anything, can I do to have the 2000 Excel docs transferred to 2003 Excel.
I love the new taskbar and the "right click" on a pinned programme to access recent files & pinned files. However, while this feature works perfectly for Word, when I try to open an excel file from the taskbar, or even as an attachment to a received e-mail, I get the message " there was a problem sending the command to the program". The excel program itself opens if it is not already open, but the selected file doesn't. I can only open the file by going through "office button/open". If it is an e-mail attachment, I can only open it by saving it to one of my folders, and opening it via "office button/open". Additionally, once I attempt to open an excel file from the taskbar, the excel symbol on the taskbar displays a yellow/brown border instead of the normal border.
I have a user at the moment who's excel is crashing at random points of the day. This does seem to happen when there are more than about 3 or 4 excel documents open at a time.
I've tried opening in safe mode and that opens fine (although it is a random fault this may not of shown anything...). tried checking com-in add-ins and there are not any installed.
i'm unable to open excel from windows explorer. I double click/right click and open any excel file from windows explorer and excel opens up but no documents show. I minimize and maximize and still no excel document. I open up excel and go to file and open the file from there then it opens. Also, when in windows explorer, when you select the excel document, the windows preview shows "this file cannot be previewed because of an error in the microsoft excel previewer".
Error: There was a problem sending the command to the program.

I just changed out my President's XP-Pro to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.We store all of our Word & Excel docs on a 6.5 Netware server.Yes it's old and out of date - but it cost money to change it. so.....I had no problems ever with XP but with Windows 7 when you open a Excel file it ive the old BSOD.It may not do it every time, sometimes I have to open, close a couple of times and then it happens.I have no other problems in connecting to the Netware server.BTW - I'm using the Novell Cient 2 SP2 for windows 7
I use FF on Windows 7 and FF and Adobe Flash keep crashing when I play games on Facebook. I would like to go back to Windows XP because I did not have this problem at that time. I have tried to uninstall or clear Windows 7 but it won't allow me to go back to Windows xp. Sick of my programs constantly crashing. Definitely something to do with Windows 7.
Just started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.
Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.
All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.
I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.
I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64 ... I dont know totally system specs. It's a custom rig that I purchased about 6 months ago. I dont think the specs matter anyway because I don't believe this is a hadware problem, but a windows problem. So about a month ago I was unlucky enough to pick up a virus infection somewhere ... those fake antivirus ones that totally destroy your system . It started this whole chain of events that lasted two weeks and ended up with me running in safe mode for more than a week trying to fix the problem. I tried restoring my computer via system restore a few times and got an error every time - (which in turn 'damaged' my restore points so I no longer can use this option)
So, I figured I would reinstall windows and fix it. Sadly, whatever was on my comp as turned my CD drives (DVD and bruner) into dead weight - they won't read a thing. So I got Dlite and mounted the CD to a virtual drive and tried to install it that way, but for whatever reason it gives me an error and reboot and wont finish the install. It does however take me too the new log in screen, which gives me an error when I try to create a new log in for the new windows.
I was able to get back into the old windows install and managed to delete the new one. Anyway .. I eventually was able to get spyware docter and a few other programs to run in safe mode and I cleaned the comp of all virus's BUT when I tried to run windows normally it would barely run at all. Start up was slow, browers would either not open at all of freeze when they did, and eventually windows explorer would just crash and I would have to reset to computer.
Eventually I just gave up and ran the comp in safe mode to do the things I needed to do. two weeks ago I decided to give it another go and try and fix it and when I loaded windows normally it ran fine - absolutely no problems what so ever. Then 2 days later it started the freezing and crashing again. I would run it in safe mode and run spyware doctor (thinking I am infected again) and it would remove minor stuff like tracking cookies and such, when I would restart it would run fine for about a day and do the same thing again.
Until recently my computer would open image files with Adobe Photoshop and Preview them using Windows Photo Viewer. This is the way it has worked in Windows 7 as long as I have been using it. This worked great because Photo Viewer open almost instantly and Photoshop takes forever! About a week ago, probably after some Windows updates, it started "Opening" everything in Photo Viewer instead of Photoshop.
I changed the default program back to Photoshop, I had to do this with every image format, from BMP to TIf one at a time, but I got it so when I want to open an image, to edit, it comes up in Photoshop. The problem is that it now does the same thing with anything I want to preview! I work with images all day long. So my question is how do I get it to respond to the "Preview" command with Picture Viewer without changing the default action for "Open"? I've looked and I can't find any place that lets you change this setting.
So im having the strangest issue with my graphics card. I had it installed and fine for about a year now and suddenly it started having issues with Borderlands 2 where the card will literally just cut off right after the game add's and just before i can select to load game. The strange thing is the sound from the game will still play so i know the system itself is still running. I tested the temp's on gpu and cpu both of which are under 70c, i tried reinstalling windows and immediately installing amd drivers and running a game, it does the same thing.
I have the situation where a directory path has changed and I have emails that have hyperlinks to files (in the emails) that point to the old path. In my old Unix days I would have just created a link using ln command. In Windows I can create a shortcut to the old directory (which works in explorer), but the name I create has a .lnk extension. This seems to break the hyperlink.Does anyone know a way to make the old path valid so that the hyperlinks work?xample:Hyperlink points to c:ax.doc c:a is renamed c: shortcut c:a created pointing to c: off course c:a is actually c:a.lnk in Windows Hyperlink broken In my real situation the moved directory sits in the middle of a long path.
I downloaded Adobe Photoshop (Portable) and installed it. Then I wanted to change the location where it was saved. I tried to move it but it couldnt be moved so I copied and pasted it into a new location. I know I should uninstall but since I just wanted 1 copy, I deleted one. After that, most of the other Adobe programs were affected. When I opened some, they would say that some files are missing or my license has expired. Some started asking for serial number or to register. When I opened Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 it said Photoshop Elements Help was missing and there were missing icons on the right side. I uninstalled and reinstalled the programs. I downloaded some but they cant be installed. It always says some files are missing.
I can send links going to : "Page" > " Send link by email", but they are set in plain text and cannot be clicked by the receivor of the email to bring up the desred page.If I copy and paste the link on a new Windows Live Mail message it works just fine - the link is clickable. How can I get it to work the way it always has with outlook express and windows xp with ie8. and be able to send a hyper link from ie 9 without having to copy and paste it?
Before installing Windows 7 I exported the macro's I use in Excel (Office 2007) and made a copy of the Personal.xlsb file. In Vista, the Personal.xlsb is stored at C:Usersuser nameAppDataLocalMicrosoftExcelXLSTART. I have imported the macros into visual basic but I can only save them into that particular workbook and when I reopen Excel, the macros are not avaliable.
i have an excel doc with about 300 records all in a cell each, i want to get them all in to a specific field on a website in their own tab in firefox. any one know if this can be done?
I have Office 10 and I go to "find" in my excel spreadsheet and I would like to find "shot", "hospital"". "doctor" without doing 3 searches. So can I imput those 3 words and do a search and it will show me each word as they come up?
I just can't get new data to display on this graph (see below):
[URL]
I enter the values in the table on the left, and they won't show up in the graph! This has just started happening, as you see, the first six sets of values are displaying fine.
to enable macros in Excel I have to go to Developer then enable macro. Err message ordering me to exit the file, then re-enter it and repeat the "enabling" procedure. This does not always remedy the problem. I have to restart the computer... then go back to my Excel worksheet.
However, now even this doesn't work! Result: I am unable to use my macros.
