View 0 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Samsung RC420 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium edition OS. When I was installing a software last night, a message pops up and tells me I cannot continue installation until I close a certain program (in this case it was Adobe Updater, which was not opened at all).Today, I am trying to open "my briefcase" from a USB thumb, but a message pops up telling me I cannot open "my briefcase" as it appears a file in it is already open. But nothing else is open on my computer. It was my first time opening anything from the USB thumb.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI've never had problems with my laptop or networking till today. I cant open the network list or options, I've tried going through the control panel but when I press "connect to a network" it wont load. And when I try to click the icon on the bar it wont pop up either. The only way I can connect to the internet right now is through plugging it straight to the modem since i have it set to auto connect, but I cant connect to the WiFi since the list wont show. I've ran a virus scan but it didn't bring up anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when I change a folder view to show large icons, for example, other folders change to that, too; or when I change the view to Details, other folders also change to that. I have to be forever setting and resetting folder views. Is there a way to get Windows 7 to accept a change to the view settings of a folder without propagating that to other folders unless I ask it to?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want ALL my folders to show content as details.Even if they are pictures. How do I do that?Tried the folder options in the Config Screen (sorry, trying to translate from Dutch) but that won't work, plus I'm in a wrong folder, because that's one of the few I want to see as icons.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOne of the features I like in Windows 7 is that I can customise the Favourite Folders that appear in the save options. For example I can in include any folder in the save list for most applications. This works for microsoft Word, IE etc. However some applications like Adobe reader and a few others do not have my favourite folders when I go to save. They just have the basic: Recentplaces/Desktop/Libraties/Computer/Network. Does anyoner know of a way to include my favourite folders in the list for Adobe reader and these other applications as well?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if it's possible to create or modify shortcuts that will open more than one thing. For instance I would like to open "tech overview" from my computer and it would open:
1: Control Panel
2: Manage Computer
3: System
4: Device Manager
And hopefully I would be able to add or remove things from the list to make it even more modified over time. Another example would be to open "my website" from my computer and it would open:
1: Explorer view of camera shot images
2: Explorer view of htdocs for the website
3: Explorer view of images directory
4: Explorer view of recent downloads
5: Dreamweaver
I have received a new Dell Studio 1555 with Windows 7 64-bit pre-installed. I enjoy having both windows and linux for different reasons, so would like to install Ubuntu Linux and dual boot with windows 7. When I start my machine the Dell logo appears with options to open Setup F2 or Boot Option F12, when I try setup nothing happens and goes straight to booting windows and when I try to open boot open the system freezes.
I have tried pressing buttons many time and holding them, nothing just works.
I am running Windows 7 (Home Premium 64b) with Office 2010 (Home & Bus) on our new desktop PC. Just finished installing both without problem. Have now turned to adding email accounts to Outlook. I added 4 POP3 accounts, using the wizard. The wizard's test mails - and my own independently sent test mails - have confirmed that send/receive work fine in all 4. One of the 4 has been selected as my default account.
All 4 accounts show up in the navigation pane on the far left of the screen. The default account appears at top, with a black arrowhead to the left of its name. Under it appear the standard list of system-offered subfolders: Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Junk Mail, Calendar, Contacts etc. etc.
The other three accounts are listed below this array. Each of them has a white arrowhead to the left of its name. None of these accounts has any system-offered subfolders (Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items etc) listed under it.
Question -
How do I get Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items and the other system-offered subfolders to appear under these non-default accounts in the Navigation Pane? For example, I know (from viewing the same accounts independently on my laptop) that these non-default accounts are receiving mail; however, I cannot view any of this mail because the Inboxes of these accounts are not accessible from the Navigation Pane. I would like all 3 non-default accounts to at least show Inbox, and - if possible - one of them to also show a fuller menu including Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Junk Mail etc.
I have looked everywhere in Outlook there is, but can't seem to find the path to the fix (or - if I have found it - I guess I am not recognizing it).
I am unable to open "Computer", "Control Panel", "Devices and Printers" or any of the other options when I click on the start icon in the task bar. I receive the error message "Server execution failed" I have Windows 7 operating system.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo my laptop was working fine last night, woke up this morning and this issue appeared. I'm guessing it's a virus (stupidly, I haven't installed an AVP on this machine yet). Anyways, I can't open anything. Doesn't matter where I try to open the program or file from. The load icon appears but nothing happens. I also can't access the task manager or shut down/log off/etc. from the start menu, I get a "Failure to display security and shut down options" error msg. I'm in safe mode with networking right now, which is allowing me to open programs. I've already tried a system restore but it didn't solve the problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to have only one window per open folder in Win 7. This was how XP (mostly) worked. I cannot find a way to do this in Win 7. It seems I have all the folders open in the same window, or each time I double click on a folder it opens again in a new window. I want that when I double click on an a folder that is already open in a window that that window just moves to the front.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running windows 7 os using mozilla firefox browser. I created a shortcut on my desktop to access Internet Options. It was working fine for a while. Recently I opened the folder and the look has changed. On the general tab I no longer see "home page", "temporary internet files", etc. I only see, browsing history and appearance options. I wanted to change my home change in the address box, but it doesn't appear. How can I change it back to the way it use to look? I've scanned my laptop for potential viruses using AVG-anti-virus and Malwarebytes anti-malware....both came up clean.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI took out my Windows 7 boot drive and put it inside of a USB enclosure and when I try and go to my profile, I can't open Users folder on other computer. I don't have an administrator account on this other computer. Is there any way to open up the folder? It just says access denied when I try and open it up on a windows xp computer with no ADMIN privileges (I can't get admin on this computer).
On a XP computer that has admin it opens fine. I figured since I actually wasn't using the OS that was on the drive I wouldn't have any trouble reading any folders on it (but I guess that because it's NTFS there are more security measures, unlike FAT32 which would let anybody read anything). Would I just need to open up the folder on a computer with admin and then copy the things over while I still have admin.
I had this problem a couple days ago. As the title says "I can't open any folder". I don't get any error message at all when I try opening the folder. I even tried "right-clicking then Open" and it still doesn't open. The only thing that when I try opening the folder is. The folder does appear at the bar on bottom of the screen flashing that it has opened but the window does not pop up. Also when I try clicking on the minimized folder on the bar (sorry I can't think of the name of the bar at the bottom of the screen). When I click it, I see the window flash by but it goes to the right side of the screen but it is not in view of the monitor screen. I also can't access My Computer,Downloads,Documents,or any type of folder. I also tried some registry fixes I found on google but no luck at all.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 x64Intel i7 860 Lynnfield4GB RAMI've got a .mkv file and a .nfo file in a folder with no other files or folders. On a clean boot, I've got ~2390MB of free memory. As soon as I open this folder, the memory in use begins to climb and within 60 seconds I've lost all of my free RAM. Once it maxes out, performance falls off a cliff and typically ends with me doing a hard reset.I used the resource monitor to track this, and the bizarre thing is there doesn't seem to be any process actually using up any memory. All of the processes listed there in the memory tab keep just about the same amount of memory in use (looking at committed, working, shareable and private). If windows boots in Safe Mode, the issue is not reproduced.I can open the video and the video plays.<edit>If I open the video from the recent history within the Media Player Classic, it will play and does not take up my memory</edit>What do you think?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have a 16 GB Cruzer USB and it's not connecting, recognizing, nothing. Usually, the usb stick lights up, but it's not even doing that. I remember a couple of years ago I had this problem, I looked up a solution and was able to open the usb up by going through... aghh this is what I can't remember.
It's manually opening up the usb by going through some 'coding'-ish steps.
The screen I used to type in the coding was black, with white text. I think I remember typing in dmnt.mgt (Not exactly it but kind of like that??) Either way.. how can I open up my usb?
