Using ITunes On Windows 7 - Setting Location To Store Media?
Dec 21, 2011
I have installed iTunes on my Windows 7 machine and set up the library location on a removable flash drive since my employer doesn't allow us to store media on the C: drive. I successfully consolidated all of my music to the new location but it only shows up in the Newly Added playlist, not in the Music file.
i have my drive partitioned 80 gigs for windows 8 consumer preview and 400 ghigs of space for 7 but where does 7 store my recordings... want to watch them on 8?
I should get Windows Media Player or iTunes for my media library. I know iTunes is sometimes glitchy, but also, sometimes wmp is too. I don't want to slow down my computer, I just want to listen to music while I work.
We just had a Dish Hopper installed and tried using their Home Media program which looks at Windows Media Player for music. I can play the music from 2 of my 3 computers but the 3rd one won't play.I checked the 2 computers and I can play the music from there. When I try the 3rd computer I get: The file you are attempting to play is missing or corrupt or not in a location that is currently not available?I removed WMP and had to "turn Windows Futures off" and WMP was available, the problem is it is still linked to the corrupt files. How do I remove the corrupt files and direct WMP to the correct location?
I have a windows 7 laptop and a dell desktop. The desktop has no enternet use and has a few songs in the Windows Media Player that I would like to transfer over to my laptop itunes library to sync to my ipod touch, but I don't know how to do that.
need help in changing the DVD Audio setting under MC, DVD Audio setting menu. I want to change the audio setting to "Theatre Mode", instead of "Night Mode" ... to provide a full range of sound, but this option is grayed out. Does anybody know how to change this ..
I tried changing it under Media Player but it does not affect the Media Center setting.
Is there any way to compensate for the bluetooth headphone audio delay while watching Live TV in Media Center? For movies it's simple I can do it through Media Player Classic but I don't see how to change any kind of audio shifting setting within Media Center.
looking for alternative for itunes for a while.I have an ipod touch 8gb.Now been looking at this piece of software and wondering will it recognise my ipod touch or will I have to stick to itunes,I have music photos & video clips on it now. This is what I've been looking at but will it recognise the ipotouch?? Link..... Free iTunes alternative - Manage iPod iPhone without iTunes
I'm trying to downgrade from iTunes 10.5 to a version that doesn't crash (see my previous thread). However, whenever I do this, I cannot import my Library file (.itl) because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
I use iTunes on my Windows 7 computer to sync with my iPhone, and the last time I went to open iTunes it gave me the error message "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."I had heard that if I uninstalled Quicktime (which is bundled with iTunes when that is downloaded), then reinstalled it separately, it would work again, but after trying that it didn't. So I decided to just uninstall iTunes, then reinstall it. However, every time I try to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, it just sits there saying it'll be about eight more seconds to go to finish deleting, but it just sits, and sits, and sits...... Nothing. I also tried to just install the newest iTunes on top of the existing one, but every time I try it tells me that it's already installed and to click "Ok." So I can't uninstall it, nor can I install it, nor will iTunes open on its own. I had done a system restore recently, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
Assume I have opened a couple of windows for some applications on my Win 7 desktop. Can I somehow store the current window positions and sizes (and restore them later (even after a reboot))?As far as I remember there is a tool which ofers this feature but I don't remember the name.
I am having all kinds of issues with IE9. Websites wont open, or sites with ID and passwords wont open. The down loader for Technet wont install. Just many issues. Is there a way to complete remove IE9 so there is nothing Windows can store for reinstall, so I can then reinstall IE9 to see if that fixes my issues?
Windows 7 update is stuck at last check for updates on 25th June on this laptop belonging to a friend. Tried running the System Update Readiness Tool but the Hotfix for Windows KB947821 it wants to install first always fails, and you can't say no to this or it says process aborted by user. Some other sites discuss copying files from another PC, which I don't have as I have a Mac. Also registry editing. Is there any way to fix this without doing either?Win 7 SP1 isn't installed. Tried downloading it (as Win Update won't find it) but it won't run - the same 800737 error and advises downloading the SURT as above. The error again is Windows component store corrupt.Win Update constantly wants to install 3 important updates, suspiciously all the same minute size of only 15kb - KB2676562, 2679255 and 2709715 from April, May and June 2012. These appear to install ok and go into the update history, but then show again and again as needing to be installed - clearly all related to the corrupt component store.
I'm using DVD Shrink to make iso's from DVD's and I've noticed that my ISO files are being stored in the VirtualStore folder. The file is fine and I can burn it back to DVD w/ no issues just strange how it doesn't store it in my root c: directory.
I tried to install new updates of Ableton live and the machine crashed badly... and since them it has really gone a bit wonky. When I press the on button to boot up the laptop I get the following message. The Windows Boot Configuration Data (BCD) Store file contains some invalid information.[CODE]I have a back up on another external drive ..... plus I have made a repair disk and so on when I first got the machine.
I have read the Windows Mail tutorial but I have a problem.
I have used Take Ownership and removed Windows Live Mail 64 and installed Windows Mail 64 as per tutorial.
I have the shortcut on the desktop but when I try to open from there it says:-
Windows Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Mail message store. Windows Mail was unable to locate its message database. If you’ve moved the database files to a new location, click okay to reset the database to that location.
I clicked okay and I now click on the hidden folder Widows Mail hoping that will do the trick, it doesn’t!
The next error message I get is:-
Windows Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Mail message store.
The last error message I get is:-
Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialised.
After recently downloading the service pack, I've had issues with my computer, including the themes service not working. I want to uninstall the pack so that I can do a system repair using my disc because my disc is older than the service pack. However, the service pack doesn't show up on the programs list. If I try to uninstall by looking at windows update or the command prompt I get an error message that says:
Installer encountered an error: 0x80073712 The component store has been corrupted.
I have already done a sfc file checker thing through the command prompt, and it said that some files were corrupted, and I couldn't access the log (access denied). I'm currently running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium. I obtained the log from the sfc scan. [URL]
i have an installation of windows 8 and i am now learning about the 'bcdedit' command i removed the boot loader for windows 8 but now i want to add it back and it just seems like gibberish to me i did bcdedit/create {i do not know what to set as the id} /d 'Windows 8'
I have been an XP user for (many) years and have just bought a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). I successfully imported all my old OE mail folders into WLM, appearing as "Storage Folders" in WLM under "Imported Folders". So far no problems.
I have traditionally separated my OS and data files (including e-mail) on separate partitions so I used the trusted method of moving the Mail Store location. As expected as soon as I closed WLM, all my e-mails & account details were moved to the new location I specified.
Next time I booted the laptop every time I closed WLM, I kept getting a message telling me the files in the store could not be moved. On checking the mail store location, it had reverted back to its original location in C:users.....
As I did not know which store WLM was actually using I created another new directory and moved the mail store location again. It seems to be working now but I have 2 lots of folders, one set in the original default location and one in the new specified location.
Has anyone come across this issue (I have searched and not come up with anything) and assuming the problem does not manifest itself again, am I safe to delete the files from the default location?
My brother-in-law's computer is running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. When the computer is power on it goes pass POST then does not find a bootable device, so these are the steps I've done so far.Booted to Windows 7 CD and tried the following:1. startup repair2. bootrec /fixmbr, /fixboot and /rebuildbcd - when rebuildbcd I get "Total identified Windows installations: 0"3. bootsect /nt60 c:4. command prompt and using DISKPART found that the only disk in the system was not active, so I made it active and now when I boot the system I get NTLDR missing5. bcdedit - I get access denied when accessing C:now I'm stuck ... i've read several forums, including this one, but I can't find a solution to this problemmaybe because c: is not accessible, windows repair does not see the installation of windows?
If you have 3D acceleration enabled in VirtualBox 4.14, you can't access the chrome web store to add extensions for chromium or chrome for either Ubuntu 12.04 or Linux Mint 12 guests in VirtualBox 4.14.If you want to add extensions to either chromium or chrome, before you start your VM, temporarily disable 3D acceleration in Settings>Display for your VM, and then add your extensions. When done, you might want to re-enable 3D acceleration for your VM because some desktops don't behave well without 3D acceleration (Unity for Ubuntu and Cinnamon for Linux Mint, for example).
Is it possible to connect a drive to my WiFi router so that all WiFi devices could access the drive to store and share data i.e. Photo's, downloads, music etc?
Devices consist of netbooks (Windows 7) and android tablets and android phones.
I have several media folders with lots of large jpg, bmp and mp4 files stored on a USB Stick. If I plug the stick in on another computer it takes a very long time until all the thumbnails for the files are generated. I want to plug in the stick and see the thumbnails for all the media files immediately.is there a way to store the cached thumbnail information right inside a folder to make it "portable"?
I am going to build a system (actually many of them) I would like to have two drives in this system. one a very fast reasonably large (100 gig) plus VERY fast solid state hard drive and the other a very fast and very large (10 or 2 Teri) mechanical drive. My question is how do I setup the prefetch or cache or whatever to run the operating system and my recent history of programs off of the solid state and have the mechanical drive there with everything on it in case I choose to something new into the recent history list by running some program once. also have oldest bumped off solid state, when space becomes an issue, but still keep it on mechanical hard drive. I think that this system will appear to run faster except the first time you run a program. I think this would be useful for instance on a system that plays the same online game everyday. Or works with the same complicated drawing in auto-cad for weeks. I have my own ideas about how to do this, but I thought I might throw this out there to what it sounds like when it hits the wall.
I am trying to get my taskbar to store recently opened items but when I right click on the start menu and select properties I see that the check box is greyed out! I have no idea what I did to make it greyed out and more importantly, I have no idea how to get it back so that I can enable it again.
I recently got some work done on my machine at a "PC fixit" store. It was unbootable due to an encryption issue that I had created, so as part of the service, they loaded Ultimate on it. When I got the machine back, it worked fine, but I couldn't shut it down without holding down the power button (would always reboot). I still don't have any issues with my machine, but when I run scannow (many times) I get errors about seemingly important files, but I can't tell if I have cause for concern, or what the next steps should be, since I don't have any way to replace the corrupted files. I would prefer not to have the OS reloaded.
