Feb 16, 2011
i will be building a new PC soon and I want to use my old HD in the new PC which has Win 7 32bit installed and working fine. The new PC is a 64 bit machine so I will need to move to the 64bit version of Win 7 which came with the 32bit on another dvd.So my question is, What do I need to know before I start the process of going to 64bit Win 7?

I have a system I have used for a while now and I actually reformatted a few months ago. The system has been working great with no problems but recently during a boot up I noticed an issue. Right when Windows begins its setup to take you to the login screen I noticed a bluescreen and a quick reboot. So I used F8 to boot from the last known good config, no change. I went and disabled the automatic reboot after a crash so I could read the error and it's the:
"Process1_initialization_failed" error.
I looked around for that error and found this: Fix: STOP 0x0000006B PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED Blue Screen | The Windows Club
However, when I tried to get into the C: to remove that file, it said "Access Denied" and locked me out. I have yet to be able to get into the system since. To make matters worse I gave up and decided to just reformat the drive and start fresh. However, when I load up my Windows Installation DVD it is noticeably slow, it takes 5-10 minutes to go from step to step. So I got to the "Install" button screen, clicked it and it says "Setup is starting..." and then...nothing. It just stays on that screen for a long time, I gave it 30 minutes last night. So I'm unable to even reformat.

Hey. I got my windows 7 installation cd today. and I put it into my brand new windows vista computer. the installation started, but then it suddently stopped where it said "the computer has to be restarted". After having this message on the installation screen for 15 min I clicked the off button on the computer, and started it again.
Then the nightmare began, when the computer starts, it says: "starting installation" - then the error message - "The installation process cannot be started". if I click ok. the computer restarts and the same happends. if I X it. the computer restarts and the same happens. Im completely stuck with this error and cant either go back to vista or keep installing windows 7.
Tried to hold down F8 when it starts, but nothing happens. For now I just want to go back to vista.

Is there a way to make a start up process start with a delay of say 30 seconds via the registry? I tried software but none of them work with win 7 beta.
EDIT: If not, Is there a way to have the start up programs start in a certain order?

Misunderstood a tech friend of mine and accidentally deleted both partitions when attempting to upgrade to windows 7. Now when I try to load the installation disc, it says there are no drivers anywhere and I'm unable to start the installation process. Is there somewhere I can download all new drivers?

I have a game (Battlefield 2) that has certain issues under Windows 7. In online gaming, apparently the punkbuster fails to communicate in the right way until the process bf2.exe is set to priority "lower than normal" in the task manager. this means you have to start the game, alt+tab back to the desktop, lower the priority in the taskmanager and then start playing.this procedure has to be repeated everytime i want to play with punkbuster (so every time )And yes, I browsed all, and I mean ALL, forums of BF2 and Punkbuster to fix this issue, so far this is the only solution that makes online gaming possible.how to lower the priority of a process permanently and automatically every time the process starts up?

I've tried re-adding the appropriate reg files. I've tried fixing permissions in the registry. I've tried all the cmd line commands. I have no idea how to get this service to run. Because of this the firewall doesn't work. And also i can't open any ports on my router I'm thinking.I've used ccleaner to fix the errors in my registry, as well as sfc /scannow. I was getting some error when trying to use the Windows 7 installation disc to repair windows so I couldn't do that.I'm also not infected with zero acess rootkit becaue these aren't found on my computer.
Quote: if you find a folder called system64
C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM64(not the sysWOW64)
and a file called consrv.dll
C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONSRV.DLL
You're infected by zero access rootkit. It is recommended to contact malware removal forums to remove it first and try the fix
I've tried this too but to no avail -->
Quote: Download both the registry files
bfe.reg
firewall.reg

how do I do a clean install of 64 bit windows 7 replacing 32 bit windows 7? I purchased a separate 64 bit disk. Before the Windows 7 32 bit, it was vista 64 bit, so the system is a 64 bit system. I just need to know how to get it going. When I insert the 64 bit disk, all it says is that it is incompatible. So what do I do?

I am running windows 7 64 bit home premium and for some reason 3dmark11 stopped working. The program will not open when I double click on the icon or go into my programs to open it. I uninstalled then reinstalled it and it still does not open. I do not get any error from windows at all, it just won't open. I made sure that windows firewall was allowing the program access to my system as well as making sure norton was allowing the program access to my system. I have no idea what else to check. Why would windows not give me any type of error?

I am getting this error all the time with Windows 7. I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.

New dell n7110/win7sp1x64.At startup on new machine from dell, process explorer (procexp64.exe) lists 81 processes running (seems like way too many - compared to xp with maybe 25 at startup). But which processes I can turn off is a question for another day. OK, read carefully, at least 15 processes in PE show " Path: error opening process". PID, CPU, Private Bytes, and working set columns are shown for these "problem" processes, but nothing after that, ie, description, company name etc. For all other listed running processes (with known paths), all info is shown in all columns. The problem processes include some important ones, services, crss, ism, wininit, winlogon, that must to be working for the computer to work, and everything seems to be working properly, and no cpu spikes or other weird stuff is happening. Right clicking properties on these problem processes, properties window pops up as normal, but shows "version: n/a, build: n/a, path: error opening process, no command line, no current directory, autostart location: n/a, Parent: non existent process (708), user: access denied. Again, this info can not be correct since the computer is working. And then, after a few minutes, another window pops up and says PE has stopped working, and closes the program. Now, if this was the whole story, I would go to sysinternals with this, but read on... Task manager running simultaneously with PE lists 83 processes running, more processes than PE, and also ~5 different processes than PE, and PE lists some processes running that TM doesn't list. So PE and TM show different running processes at the same time. How can that be? For the processes that PE shows "error opening", e.g., crss, etc., when I click properties in TM for the same process, sometimes I get the usual/normal pop-up window listing the path, and all the other data as normal, suggesting the process is working properly. But sometimes when I click properties in TM for the processes that PE shows "error opening", I get no pop-up at all, nothing for that process. So, IMO, it's not just a PE glitch, something is actually wrong here. This is a new machine, with PE the only 3rd party installation. I have installed several dell driver updates, but this problem occurred before I installed them. Also, remember PE and TM simultaneously list some different running processes and TM also fails to show paths, etc.

First things first. Brand new discovery! Did you know that it's impossible not to backing-up and lose your old files during Windows 7 installation? That's right! Microsoft contradicting it-self in the first steps of installation preparation step by step information. At first they say that we should back-up our old files as they WILL BE deleted. Then they practically force an option of where our old Windows files will be backed up into Windows.old folder. So the folders such as "Users, Program Files, Windows ...etc" will be stored in Windows.old folder. And any other files created by you that are stored in "C:" directory will remain untouched! So don't worry about upgrading or backing up anything, since Windows 7 does it all for you! My advice, just go with a clean install and you'll be safer that way. Now back to business. Have you ever experienced a really bad day with such as Windows 7?Possible solutions for your headache have finally arrived:We need to try almost everything possible in our powers to locate and solve the problems, right?NOTE: I'm gonna do these steps backwards like if we don't really know how to solve this quick!

Windows Mobile Device Center doesn't work with Outlook 2010 if installed as 64 bit. Microsoft says to "fix" this by uninstalling Office 2010 and installing the 32 bit version! My question is are there any 3rd-party sync programs that will work with Windows 7 64 bit and Microsoft Office Outlook 64 bit and Windows Mobile 6.5 devices? I don't need to sync email but I do need to sync calendar, contacts, and tasks. And yes, I am aware that the iphone will sync with it! Silly Microsoft. I have 1.5 years left on my mobile contract with my Windows Mobile 6.5 phone?

I have Windows 7 32 bit on my laptop and Windows 7 64 bit on the desktop, both Home Premium. Every time I go online with the desktop it starts a download according to NetLimiter. The download appears as Host process for Windows services and it expands to process 720 and then to 92.122.126.243:80. I use 3G mobile broadband for my net access and this download could use a considerable amount of my Gb allowance. Using NetLimiter I can kill the download but I would like to know what is happening and do I need the download? Some idea of the d/l size would be handy as well. None of this happens when I log on using the laptop.

i have a computer that was running fine for a year or so, but now its been a couple of days and after an hour or two of use, it slows down and finally freezes. I dont know what it is. The clues i have include:
-ive run memtest86, no errors.
-ive scanned the whole system with 4 different virus programs, so not a virus.
-but ive noticed that rundll32.exe has been using ALOT and i mean ALOT of resources. After a couple hours, norton tells me that it has high disk and cpu usage. i checked core temp and voila, 100% on all 4 amd phenom 955 cores. I dont get it.
Specs are:
Amd phenom 955 be
4 gb crucial 1333
ati 5450
