View 7 RepliesI'm experiencing very annoying issue. CPU loaded with System Idle Process always. Because of that there is serious lag in iterfase. Problem appeared almost sumultaniusly on there different PCs. Using "Process Explorer" and going to System Idle Process - Threads I've found processes with names: ntoskrnl.exe!KiDespatch Interrupt+0x650 (on one PC) or ntoskrnl.exe!KiCpuId+0x6a0 (on two others)
I have three diffenent machines - one old acer laptop, one modern desktop and wmware virtual machine running on macbook. All have same OS - win 7 ultimate sp1. All of them are in the same network.
I've tried to localise issue by removing services and applications from startup - nothing, I've scanned machines with microsoft security essentials, Dr Web CureIT and Kaskpersky virus removal tool. Still nothing.
CPU get loaded as soon as system starts. Number of ntoskrnl.exe instances equals to number of CPU kernels. 1, 2 and 8 in my case on different PCs .
I would like to know about the message from coming on my laptop that "windows is shutting down to prevent from damage to threads".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a DX58SO mobo from Intel with i7 processor. There are 4 channels for memory and 3 of them (all blue) are filled with 2GB DDDR3 DIMMS. (total 6 GB)[CODE]Do I have a problem or not? Why is this telling me I only have a "total" of 2047 MB, but 6144 MB installed? Does Win 7 use all channels in parallel, 2GB at a time? Or do I have 6GB x64 bits wide?My Microsoft performance index is low (5.5) on the memory test, the only bottleneck in my system.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor over a year I've been having occasional flurries of crashes, hangs and (rarely) BSODs. Months would go by with no problem, then dozens of crashes or hangs in a week. The event logs and rare dumps have not been helpful. People here said it sounded like hardware problem, but no diagnostics I ran could find a problem.I took it to a pc repair shop which could find no hardware problem (and of course it would not crash or hang for them). The suggested (as did people on this forum) that it probably was ZoneAlarm Internet Security. They installed the Kaspersky Internet Security product (for a fee, of course) and said that should fix the problems. 2 days later it froze 3 times and did automatic reboots 5 times.I took it back. It still wouldn't crash or hang for them. They said Windows probably needed to be reinstalled - that my update from Windows 7 Home to Pro corrupted something. Rather than mess up the installation again I asked them to do it (for a fee, of course).
During their attempts to reinstall Windows it started crashing for them. They succeeded on their 3rd attempt, ran some more tests, checked the configuration, and found problems with the ram. They said ram I had was incompatible with the mother board and buggy, but the problems could not be detected by the diagnostics. They also said they had to reinstall Windows a 4th time because the 3rd reinstallation was corrupted because of the bad ram.
1. If the ram was incompatible with the MB could I have run at all? Could it have caused intermittent problems?
2. I had OCZ DDR3 memory cards and a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R MB. Is this memory incompatible with the MB? I've recently heard that OCZ memory is not very high quality. Is that generally true?
3. Can bad ram (and crashes cause by it) corrupt Windows? I can see how the registry could get corrupted but would that take a reinstallation of Windows to fix?
I have just had re-install WIndows 7 (32bit)on my PC something that I've done once before with no problems. This time however there's a yellow triangle showing next to the PC icon in devices and printers.Going into properties then hardware it says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" on Intel(R) 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Controller - 27B8.I've got a disk with drivers on it and updated the PC with those but I still have this problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using windows 7 pro. I have a 320 gig hard drive and within a 2 hour period, the available hard drive space went from 156 gigs to 53 gigs without me doing anything. I lost 100 gigs! After searching through all the files, it appears that there is 100 gigs worth of space that is not actually being used. i have done some searching and it appears that this is a windows 7 problem with no real resolution. I have emptied my recycling bin and i don't have any restore points or backups.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am getting this error all the time with Windows 7. I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.
View 13 Replies View RelatedNew dell n7110/win7sp1x64.At startup on new machine from dell, process explorer (procexp64.exe) lists 81 processes running (seems like way too many - compared to xp with maybe 25 at startup). But which processes I can turn off is a question for another day. OK, read carefully, at least 15 processes in PE show " Path: error opening process". PID, CPU, Private Bytes, and working set columns are shown for these "problem" processes, but nothing after that, ie, description, company name etc. For all other listed running processes (with known paths), all info is shown in all columns. The problem processes include some important ones, services, crss, ism, wininit, winlogon, that must to be working for the computer to work, and everything seems to be working properly, and no cpu spikes or other weird stuff is happening. Right clicking properties on these problem processes, properties window pops up as normal, but shows "version: n/a, build: n/a, path: error opening process, no command line, no current directory, autostart location: n/a, Parent: non existent process (708), user: access denied. Again, this info can not be correct since the computer is working. And then, after a few minutes, another window pops up and says PE has stopped working, and closes the program. Now, if this was the whole story, I would go to sysinternals with this, but read on... Task manager running simultaneously with PE lists 83 processes running, more processes than PE, and also ~5 different processes than PE, and PE lists some processes running that TM doesn't list. So PE and TM show different running processes at the same time. How can that be? For the processes that PE shows "error opening", e.g., crss, etc., when I click properties in TM for the same process, sometimes I get the usual/normal pop-up window listing the path, and all the other data as normal, suggesting the process is working properly. But sometimes when I click properties in TM for the processes that PE shows "error opening", I get no pop-up at all, nothing for that process. So, IMO, it's not just a PE glitch, something is actually wrong here. This is a new machine, with PE the only 3rd party installation. I have installed several dell driver updates, but this problem occurred before I installed them. Also, remember PE and TM simultaneously list some different running processes and TM also fails to show paths, etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst things first. Brand new discovery! Did you know that it's impossible not to backing-up and lose your old files during Windows 7 installation? That's right! Microsoft contradicting it-self in the first steps of installation preparation step by step information. At first they say that we should back-up our old files as they WILL BE deleted. Then they practically force an option of where our old Windows files will be backed up into Windows.old folder. So the folders such as "Users, Program Files, Windows ...etc" will be stored in Windows.old folder. And any other files created by you that are stored in "C:" directory will remain untouched! So don't worry about upgrading or backing up anything, since Windows 7 does it all for you! My advice, just go with a clean install and you'll be safer that way. Now back to business. Have you ever experienced a really bad day with such as Windows 7?Possible solutions for your headache have finally arrived:We need to try almost everything possible in our powers to locate and solve the problems, right?NOTE: I'm gonna do these steps backwards like if we don't really know how to solve this quick!

I have just gotten a job working on the internet and am trying to get updates done...Can I fix somehow all of the failed updates in one process? I really need to keep the window open to see who needs what on my work. I just need to know too, why all the failed updates, I am just estimating but am sure there are more than 7 of them. I want to get to work asap...

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 32 bit on my laptop and Windows 7 64 bit on the desktop, both Home Premium. Every time I go online with the desktop it starts a download according to NetLimiter. The download appears as Host process for Windows services and it expands to process 720 and then to 92.122.126.243:80. I use 3G mobile broadband for my net access and this download could use a considerable amount of my Gb allowance. Using NetLimiter I can kill the download but I would like to know what is happening and do I need the download? Some idea of the d/l size would be handy as well. None of this happens when I log on using the laptop.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can be in MS Word, After Effects, Surfing or ANY OTHER PROGRAM, and not click out, but be just working away and all the sudden SOMETHING (your part) causes my active window/program to go like it was a background process. could be in the middle of typing an email, and in the middle of a word and I can get half of it typed and then... BOOM! I'm out. The program DOES NOT close, it just acts like I clicked away to the desktop or another program.
Then I have to click back on my email and can resume typing for a bit. This happens every 5 minutes or so (haven't timed it). When it clicks itself out, it doesn't really go anywhere that I can tell, but something is definitely making my active window/program become inactive. I'm assuming it's some background process, but I don't see anything pop-up or blink or give me ANY indication at all that it has taken the active position.
I'm not sure how to even phrase this question since I don't know what is really going on. But it's driving me crazy in my video editing program (Premiere) especially since I'm in it about 15 hours a day. So it's happening, as you can imagine, 5-10 times an hour during my playack.
In fact, just at this very moment it did it again while writing here. My Chrome page became inactive and I had to reclick right here to continue writing.
I've had probably 50 computers since Windows 98 and I've never seen this before. And of course this has to happen on my big edit monster that I'm on all day. The system is a dual Xeon x5680, overclocked to 4.5Gzh, with 48 GB ram. I'm running on a EVGA SR-2 motherboard running the latest bios (as of 2 months ago). Runs like a beast in everything, very stable, just this annoying problem that keeps surfacing all the time. I'm running Win 7 Ult 64.
My PC goes through the BIOS stage and starts to load Windows 7, the GUI comes up and then it just stays there, goes into space with nothing happening. I have booted in Safe Mode and that works, but it won't boot into Safe with Command Prompt or Networking. I have tried the Repair my Computer option but that did not fix it. Then I did a System Restore but that did not fix it either. Not sure as to what to do next.

My Windows Explorer keeps crashing and restarting. When I checked the Event Log, it has apparently been doing this randomly since I had the software installed (replacing my Windows XP) 10 months ago.
