Ntoskrnl.exe Threads Hosted By System Idle Process Load 100%
Sep 23, 2012
I'm experiencing very annoying issue. CPU loaded with System Idle Process always. Because of that there is serious lag in iterfase. Problem appeared almost sumultaniusly on there different PCs. Using "Process Explorer" and going to System Idle Process - Threads I've found processes with names: ntoskrnl.exe!KiDespatch Interrupt+0x650 (on one PC) or ntoskrnl.exe!KiCpuId+0x6a0 (on two others)
I have three diffenent machines - one old acer laptop, one modern desktop and wmware virtual machine running on macbook. All have same OS - win 7 ultimate sp1. All of them are in the same network.
I've tried to localise issue by removing services and applications from startup - nothing, I've scanned machines with microsoft security essentials, Dr Web CureIT and Kaskpersky virus removal tool. Still nothing.
CPU get loaded as soon as system starts. Number of ntoskrnl.exe instances equals to number of CPU kernels. 1, 2 and 8 in my case on different PCs .

For the past week the System idle process has been hogging all my CPU. Have done the usual investigative routes, scans, safe mode scans etc. I have used my residential products: Malwarebytes, Superanti-spyware, Eset SS5 and have tried a couple of others being Hitman pro and Kaspersky on-line virus scanner. Since the problem started I have been trying to think of any odd installations but nothing springs to mind, to that end I have already put two different OS's on the machine and the problem still exists even in safe mode! I'm Running Win 7 x64.

Today I've turned computer on, and when Windows loaded, I saw that CPU load of my computer is 25-35 % and is caused by "System Idle process". Ok, I know that this process works when computer does nothing, but I've noticed one important thing - until this process wasn't working on my laptop, PC was working on batteries up to 5 hours, now, when this in normal process is working, time on batteries is 2h 50 min (max)... How I can turn off that process? I've already reinstalled Windows, only because of that problem, and I was happy only 3 days, today, this process returned. I use Russian version of Windows. I also uploaded two screenshots, where you can see that "system idle process", I've marked it (Screenshot nr.2) [URL].
System:
Acer 5750G
I5-2430M 2.4Ghz
8Gb DDR3 1333Mhz
NVidia GT540M 2GB

In the last 2 days when I start my Win 7 Pro x64 PC I have a problem. After the Welcome screen goes I get a blue screen (Not BSOD) with my cursor in the centre and my Windows 7 title in the bottom right-hand corner. This lasts for about 90 seconds then Windows starts up. I pressed Control, Alt and Delete whilst the blue screen was up and selected Task Manager. The only Process running was System Idle Process. I thgought it was only supposed to run when the system was idle not starting up. I know Windows will not allow you to stop the process but what is causing it to run. My computer is normally a fast start-up - about 32 seconds, but suddenly this. What have I done to my dream machine (12 gb of Ram, 5 hard-drives)?

I recently installed some new hardware into my computer.
Specs:
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4
i5 2500k @ 4.5GHz
HyperX DDR3 1600
2x HD5870s
PC P&C 750W PSU
Crucial M4 64GB SSD (for my OS)
Everything went fine, computer performs top notch. But I'm having several issues (note, these issues happened BEFORE the CPU overclock also, so that isn't the problem).
1. Randomly (doesn't happen often), my computer will seem to lose internet connection. I'm hard wired right to my Linksys E3000, and it says that I'm connected, but no internet sites will load. Also, I cannot open the "network and sharing center". It just won't let me click on the icon in the task bar. And my CPU usage hovers around 25-30% when this happens. I downloaded and installed Process Explorer to see what the culprit was, and I noticed that of the 30% CPU usage, "System Idle Process" was taking up 75% of said CPU usage. It doesn't happen often at all, and restarting clears the problem up. But even though this SSD is lightning fast.
2. Smaller problem, but sometimes when I want to shutdown or restart, my computer just wont. It will sit at the "shutting down" screen forever and will basically do nothing, like there is a process in the background preventing it from doing its thing.

When I don't touch my computer for a while, I get CPU 100% (or CPU 50% on this dual core). As soon as I touch the mouse, in one second the culprit escapes. I know it's something under svchost.exe and I know I could see which svchost with Process Explorer or Svchost Viewer. But since the whole process disappears as soon as I touch mouse, it's pretty difficult to pinpoint. Svchost Viewer doesn't list all the processes in one screen, scrolling is needed. So it's basically always hidden and I can't scroll to it as that kills the process. How do I find out what exact process inside svchost.exe is eating my CPU during idle? My goal is to prevent the offending process altogether from starting.By the way, which settings of Windows Defender can cause this CPU 100% on idle problem, I didn't yet try shutting down all the settings there.

I have a problem with my computer that I cannot fix, I recently bought the AverTV Capture HD and plugged it into 1 of my free pci-express slots. Now my computer takes like 20 extra seconds to boot to desktop, I replaced the card to another PCI-Express slot but the problem persists, when I remove the card it boots like before, with no IDLE.My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-x58-UD5, latest Bios, latest drivers etc...I don't know if it's the card or maybe the motherboard or just Windows 7.This is a Winbootinfo screen to show you the IDLE time between the bios screen-Windows 7 booting screen and @desktop.

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal. First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly. After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects.

over the weekend I updated my video card drivers to the most recent version and since then my system would crash after I play a game of Dota or whatever. If I left the computer running without running any games it would perform fine and not crash. Sometimes it would give me a BSOD but more often than not my computer would simply turn off and then restart. There were no dump file created nor where there any events logged other than:"Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error:0xC000000D" and "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first..."I ran a Memtest86+ and I have no errors and I recently did a fresh install of Windows 7 so I'm pretty sure that it is due to my video card drivers. But the problem now is that the system crashes even after I did a system restore and after I completely reinstalled my drivers to a much much earlier version (like a year and a half old driver).
System specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Intel i5
Gigabyte P55M-UD2
ATI Radeon 4800

I have many applications on it which I rarely use but I still need them on occasionI moved my default profile to an external drive leaving my C: drive with nothing but the operating system yet there are still times when my computer is running at 100% CPU. How can these non-operating applications affect my system performance? I notice from the task manager that some of them are running. How can I find out which processes to remove when I don't recognize them by name? There are many which claim to be associated with Microsoft and Intel. Can I disable everything from starting with MSCONFIG

i was given a very nice computer recently and to be honest, i'm kind of nitpicking, but this is irritating me nonetheless. specs are as follows:Mobo: Asus L1N64-SLI WSProcessors : (2) AMD Athlon 64 FX 72's running at 2800 MHzRAM: (3) 2GB of PC...something-or-other speed lol sorry cant rememberVideo: (2) NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS'sOS: Win7 Pro 64-biti got it with no HDDs so i formatted 2 drives i had and did a fresh install of 7. that was... less than a week ago. anyway, here's the thing: there is a constant usage of 25% of the processors at all times by the 'System' process. and whats even more confusing is that most of the time processor 1, core 2 is the only core doing it. just pegged at 100% while every other core is more or less idle... BUT some of the time it's evenly divided up between all 4 cores.

I've been getting random BSODs over the past several months. The latest is the one listed in the thread title, but I've also had the following:
- Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error, 0x0000007A
- Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area, 0x00000050
- A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited, 0x000000F4
Whenever I get one of these, it also gives the additional error "Physical memory dump Failed with status 0xC0000010"I've seen about a dozen BSODs in the past 12 months with these four errors, and I think all of them have been while I had left the computer idle for various amounts of time (never more than a few hours).I built this computer from the ground up with all new components a year ago and have been running Win 7 Ultimate x64, no re-installs.

System restore process is "stuck"
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64
PC: SONY VAIO EL series
I am using the proprietary restore software to (try) to reload the OS back to factory condition. I have tried several times to fix it, each time with no success. I have already written zeros to every sector of the HDD, so I'm trying to start from scratch. The restore disk/process takes place over three disks I had to create as soon as I got the laptop. The first disk went through fine, and now the second disk is in, with the percentage stuck up at 24%. It got there fairly quickly, but it's been stuck like this for at least an hour now. I'm tempted to wipe the disk again, but I'm hesitating because the HDD light is on and I can hear the DVD drive doing something, though I'm not sure what.
The loading bar/progress bar isn't budging, but the green background of it is changing color (like it does when something is going on.) It is sending me no error messages, and I'm just wondering if I should let it keep going or do it some other way. When I insert the first disk, there are two options to boot from, either the "VAIO care rescue," which is what I'm doing now (I selected the restore option in its menu) or you can choose "Windows 7 install" or something along those lines, I tried that but there didn't appear to be any option to actually install under there, since it didn't detect any "images" on any drives. Regardless, I need to get this thing up and running.

I have an HP Laserjet 1320 connected to a Mac. I'm trying to get it working under Windows 7 x64, but HP seems to be playing with the Windows 7 drivers for this printer. Yesterday, there was a link for Windows 7 x64 drivers on this page: HP LaserJet 1320 Printer series*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center But clicking on the link got you a "File not found" error.Today, there's no link at all.In the past, I was able to get this printer working with a generic Postscript driver (Apple Laserwriter 600 PS) under XP 64-bit. However, I've tried a couple of other basic Postscript drivers (Lexmark and HP), but can't seem to get the printer to print anything more complicated than a test page. When printing to the shared printer with a non-specific Postscript driver, the output just vanishes (except the test page, which came out OK with the Lexmark, but not HP driver).basic Postscript driver that will work with CUPS (the Mac printing system?) Or better yet, have a link to a 1320 Postscript driver? I'm pretty sure the PCL driver won't work with CUPS...I'm using the Bonjour printing software from Apple to find and setup the printer.

Ok, so in the process of overclocking, I rebooted my computer and then got the "Missing operating system" error. I reset the CMOS and that didn't work, in the process of trying to boot from my Windows 7 disk/Linux distro's so I can see if one of my drives crashed but nothing seems to want to boot, so I am at a loss. Also, it seems in the BIOS, some of my SATA devices aren't being recognized. That may be because I reset the CMOS but I'm not positive. I can only see one of my SSD's in the BIOS and one of my optical drives.

I know this has come up in other threads, but I've been unable to find a resolution. I'm trying to upload files to an ftp site hosted by the software company whose program I'm using, but I can't open their ftp site in Windows Explorer. I'm using IE9, and running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
To address the common responses right off the bat:
1-Under internet options advanced tab I have "enable ftp folder view (outside of internet explorer)" checked, as well as "use passive ftp"
2-I do not have a Windows Firewall turned on.
3-When I try to connect to the network location in order to create a shortcut, I get an error saying the ftp site is incorrect, even though I'm copying and pasting the address from the URL to the command menu.
4-Alt-F, View, open in Windows Explorer gives me an error message saying the site can't be opened in Windows Explorer.
I'm on a network, and we're all running the same systems, but for some reason my boss' and my co-worker's computers allow me to open the ftp site in Windows Explorer without error messages.

I'm using Win 7, full RC, 32 bit. This problem happens on any machine and happened in Vista 32 bit as well.
I host our SharePoint server externally at Apptix and I am unable to map a network location to show up in Explorer. I'm not technical enough to know if this is a WebDAV issue or what. I have done tons of web searches when we had this problem initially with Vista 2 years ago. The solution was to download KB907306 and it worked in Vista.
Ok, I can accept that Vista and SharePoint development may have been out of synch at some point, but why the (insert multiple explicatives) hasn't Microsoft fixed this in Win 7? I'm not the only person in the world who hosts SharePoint and wants to view folders in Explorer. Is my hosting company the only one configured like this?
That being said (whew, I feel better), I tried to install KB907306 in Win 7 and I can now attach the location. I can see it on the left side of Explorer (folder view?) and in the main section. I can expand the left side to see the sub folders (I am prompted for my credentials), BUT, the contents of the folders never update the main window. I never see the files I want to see.
Oh, I also had the nightmare Outlook 2007 / hosted Exchange server config issue. I got around that one. Both our Exchange and SP servers are hosted by Apptix.

BSOD: The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000003a (0x00000000, 0x00000000) I'm getting this on a shop system running Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit. The last thing I did was shutdown before going home and I believe it installed an update then shutdown, so I'm suspecting the update caused the problem.
I can't get into the F8 Safe Mode screen to try Last known good configuration so I think I'll try a System Restore from the install DVD. Does that sound like a good approach?
I don't have the specs with me but I think it's a 2.8Ghz Dual core Intel with 4GB RAM and two SATA drives. It's been running fine for about a year.
