I'm running the Windows 7 64bit, the printer is connected to the XP. That printer is not a network printer (Hp 5740,and 5520) , and shared from a Desktop running WinXP 32 bit. I cannot install it via network access ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently started using Win 7 on a Toshiba laptop (4gig Ram, i5 processor) but have been unable to connect with the HP Laserjet 1200. I have followed the threads provided in this forum but am unable to print to the 1200. The printer is connected via a USB port. The printer/USB port is recognized as USB printing support. I have previously loaded the HP laserjet 1200 PCL5 driver and have now tried loading the HP Universal Printing PCL6 driver. In both situations the printer driver is seen under the printers/fax (in the Devices/Printers page) as either the Laserjet 1200 PCL5 or the HP PCL6.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Laserjet 1320 connected to a Mac. I'm trying to get it working under Windows 7 x64, but HP seems to be playing with the Windows 7 drivers for this printer. Yesterday, there was a link for Windows 7 x64 drivers on this page: HP LaserJet 1320 Printer series*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center But clicking on the link got you a "File not found" error.Today, there's no link at all.In the past, I was able to get this printer working with a generic Postscript driver (Apple Laserwriter 600 PS) under XP 64-bit. However, I've tried a couple of other basic Postscript drivers (Lexmark and HP), but can't seem to get the printer to print anything more complicated than a test page. When printing to the shared printer with a non-specific Postscript driver, the output just vanishes (except the test page, which came out OK with the Lexmark, but not HP driver).basic Postscript driver that will work with CUPS (the Mac printing system?) Or better yet, have a link to a 1320 Postscript driver? I'm pretty sure the PCL driver won't work with CUPS...I'm using the Bonjour printing software from Apple to find and setup the printer.

I'm trying to upload files to an ftp site hosted by the software company whose program I'm using, but I can't open their ftp site in Windows Explorer. I'm using IE9, and running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
To address the common responses right off the bat:
1-Under internet options advanced tab I have "enable ftp folder view (outside of internet explorer)" checked, as well as "use passive ftp"
2-I do not have a Windows Firewall turned on.
3-When I try to connect to the network location in order to create a shortcut, I get an error saying the ftp site is incorrect, even though I'm copying and pasting the address from the URL to the command menu.
4-Alt-F, View, open in Windows Explorer gives me an error message saying the site can't be opened in Windows Explorer.
I'm on a network, and we're all running the same systems, but for some reason my boss' and my co-worker's computers allow me to open the ftp site in Windows Explorer without error messages.
I have 2 computers on my home network. My desktop is running Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and I have a kodak 5500 Aio connected to it. I also have a laptop that's running windows 7 home premium 64 bit that connects wireless. I was able to print until today and now I can't print from the laptop. I can see the printer in the add printer window but comes up with cannot connect with error of 0x0000000d

I host our SharePoint server externally at Apptix and I am unable to map a network location to show up in Explorer. I'm not technical enough to know if this is a WebDAV issue or what. I have done tons of web searches when we had this problem initially with Vista 2 years ago. The solution was to download KB907306 and it worked in Vista.
Ok, I can accept that Vista and SharePoint development may have been out of synch at some point, but why the (insert multiple explicatives) hasn't Microsoft fixed this in Win 7? I'm not the only person in the world who hosts SharePoint and wants to view folders in Explorer. Is my hosting company the only one configured like this?
That being said (whew, I feel better), I tried to install KB907306 in Win 7 and I can now attach the location. I can see it on the left side of Explorer (folder view?) and in the main section. I can expand the left side to see the sub folders (I am prompted for my credentials), BUT, the contents of the folders never update the main window. I never see the files I want to see.
Oh, I also had the nightmare Outlook 2007 / hosted Exchange server config issue. I got around that one. Both our Exchange and SP servers are hosted by Apptix.
I'm experiencing very annoying issue. CPU loaded with System Idle Process always. Because of that there is serious lag in iterfase. Problem appeared almost sumultaniusly on there different PCs. Using "Process Explorer" and going to System Idle Process - Threads I've found processes with names: ntoskrnl.exe!KiDespatch Interrupt+0x650 (on one PC) or ntoskrnl.exe!KiCpuId+0x6a0 (on two others)
I have three diffenent machines - one old acer laptop, one modern desktop and wmware virtual machine running on macbook. All have same OS - win 7 ultimate sp1. All of them are in the same network.
I've tried to localise issue by removing services and applications from startup - nothing, I've scanned machines with microsoft security essentials, Dr Web CureIT and Kaskpersky virus removal tool. Still nothing.
CPU get loaded as soon as system starts. Number of ntoskrnl.exe instances equals to number of CPU kernels. 1, 2 and 8 in my case on different PCs .
I have a Velocity Micro desktop, it came with XP Media Center 32 bit and has a Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of ram, I've been wanting to try 7 for a long time so I bought a new 1TB WD black hard drive and a OEM copy of Win 7 home premium, I removed the old hard drive, installed new drive and proceeded to install Win 7, everything went fine on the install but I can't get it to connect to the internet, it reports error 651 "The modem has reported an error" and then a box pops up that looks like an old dial up connection box with a spot for a name and password and says redial in 45 sec. I'm not on dial up but am on DSL with a new Netgear N router, this computer was connecting fine just before I did the install, if I check Device manager it says the network card is working properly, and I can unhook the network cable from this computer and plug it into an old laptop with no wireless and it connects with the cable and gets 5Mbps speed so nothing is wrong with the cable

I just ordered an external enclosure for my 3.5 80GB HDD, which is a FAT32 drive with all my old MP3's on it.What I was wondering is , of course, will it run, by USB, in my Windows 7 64bit environment......or can I at least pull the files off of the FAT32 HDD and somehow put them on my Windows 7 64bit system?

Can get to the home page on some, but no further such as here, I can get to the main forum page, but then I cannot get into threads. Some sites, such as newegg, can't even get onto them. So far I've tried different browsers, including downgrading from FF4 to a FF3 version. IE8, Chrome, same issues. I have reason to believe that it's within the PC itself, whether it's software or hardware. I'm on my netbook right now running FF4 and don't have the same problems. I've even shut off the firewall and there is no other firewall or anti-virus on the PC.

this is how my connection looks like. I got only modem & switch between my connection to the internet. note: I have no fileserver.
I've checked the following things with my other PC(=notebook windows 7 x86): modem, switch, cable and my network card and everything did work fine. note: I did use the same cable as I was using for the desktop PC to be sure that the cableline was fine. I made the next tests with my desktop PC.
Then done the next ones without success:system restore(1 week)winsock fixreinstalling the networkcardgiving static IP adress
My network card settings are the same for the both PC, set to automatically obtain IP address and DNS server addresses

I recently moved from an XP machine to Windows 7 Home premium and I am now unable to connect to network shares, printers, etc at work. This is a laptop that I use both at home and at work and it's not in the domain (neither was the XP machine). On the XP machine I just mapped network drives and printers using the server name and then used my network credentials (domainusername and password). The Windows 7 machine is in the network (it's wired through ethernet) and I can access the internet through our proxy server. When I look under "Network", I see all of the servers and clients on the network, but when I try to connect to one of them, I am prompted for login/password- once I enter these, it says "Logon failure: unknown username or bad password".

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Epson Photo RX585 Printer which is giving me one hell of a headache since I upgraded from XPpro to windows 7 32bit.I cannot get the Computer to communicate with the printer or is it the printer to accept the computer communication.I have downloaded the latest driver for the printer from epson home site and installed it.The automatic configuration of the driver into the appropriate port is not appening and asks me if I want to install it manualy (with me thats like asking a bus driver to fly a jumbo Jet).I did try getting directions from the internet but got lost and finished up with my printer driver attached to a LTP1 port instead of a printer USB port, needless to say it still wont work.I then decided that I would add USB ports myself Dont ask me how I didit but some how through the device manager I typed in USB001, USB002 and USB003 and the computer seems to have accepted these port as it has not thrown them back at me yet.My next venture into the unknown is to configure the printer with one of these ports to see if it will work.The computer will not configure automatically to any of these ports and I do not have a clue as to how to do it manually.As you can see by the details above anyone after reading this who is brave enough to attempt to give me instructions as to how to get this compuer of mine and printer onto speaking terms again is either mad or deserving a medal.
