View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a quick question about the USB ports on my computer. I have a screenshot hosted here on Flikr: USB | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Of the 5 USB's that are listed, one is a USB2. Is the USB2 Enhanced Host Controller a USB2.0 port? I am looking because I am going to buy an audio interface and if I have a 2.0 in there then I will get something a little better 'cos I want as little latency as possible when recording vocals.
There is one other thing also, if it turns out that there is a 2.0 port, is there a way to physically differentiate which port is the 2.0? I have 3 USB's on the back and 2 on the front of my tower. At the moment I don't know which is which and do not know what to physically look for when I look in or out of the case.

I'm not on dial up but am on DSL with a new Netgear N router, this computer was connecting fine just before I did the install, if I check Device manager it says the network card is working properly, and I can unhook the network cable from this computer and plug it into an old laptop with no wireless and it connects with the cable and gets 5Mbps speed so nothing is wrong with the cable

I just ordered an external enclosure for my 3.5 80GB HDD, which is a FAT32 drive with all my old MP3's on it.What I was wondering is , of course, will it run, by USB, in my Windows 7 64bit environment......or can I at least pull the files off of the FAT32 HDD and somehow put them on my Windows 7 64bit system?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Win7 64 bit build that I've ran into connectivity problems with. I can get on some websites, cannot get onto others. Can get to the home page on some, but no further such as here, I can get to the main forum page, but then I cannot get into threads. Some sites, such as newegg, can't even get onto them. So far I've tried different browsers, including downgrading from FF4 to a FF3 version. IE8, Chrome, same issues. I have reason to believe that it's within the PC itself, whether it's software or hardware. I'm on my netbook right now running FF4 and don't have the same problems. I've even shut off the firewall and there is no other firewall or anti-virus on the PC.

I choose "Automatically Connect" checkbox when I connect but nothing happens as well as when I put my pc to Sleep or Hibernate.... and everytime I need to manually connect and write my WPA2 password !!! Yes I Know that you 'd tell me "remove password" or "run in safe mode with networking" or "disable UAC" but i already done these and i'm the admin of the PC !! I already updated my Network's Driver through device manager many times...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3PCs at home with Windows 7. My pc has 2 network connections:
1. Internet connection (wired)
2. LAN connection (wired)
My pc gets Internet through connection 1 and then shares it through connection 2, as simple as that, but here's the problem.
I can change connection 1 type and put everything I want public/work/home and all is great, but no matter what I do I just can't change the type of my LAN connection 2, it's always identified as public and it can't be changed (grayed out). Therefore I can't create home-group. Guys, I really tried everything, but no luck, connection 2 is public and can't be changed. My pc has Windows 7 x64, two other pcs have Windows 7 x32.
what is "ATI"? Is it a company or what?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble connecting my girlfriends laptop to the internet using her Windows 7 laptop via a Dlink router with Virgin Media. The laptop previously had Windows Vista installed but I recently upgraded it to Windows 7. For about 2 weeks the laptop connected to the wireless router fine, but stopped working about 4 days ago for some unknown reason out of the blue.
We have tried various methods to fix it, including disabling the wireless network adapter and enabling it again, we have tried updating the driver for the adapter but we get a message saying that the driver currently installed is the latest driver. It also won't let me roll back to the previous driver as that option is faded out in the properties box.
I have took her laptop to my house today to try and connect it to my router (which is also with Virgin and is working fine on my computers at my house) and the laptop won't let me connect to the network and it keeps saying there are no network connections available. I understand that usually it displays a list of connections you can log on to, but the laptop is not finding any connections at all.
On Thursday we attempted to connect to the internet by plugging in the blue wire that came with the router and that works fine. It's just it will not connect wirelessly. What really baffles us with this problem is that it worked fine for a couple of weeks then suddenly stopped working. Could it be an update that was installed that has caused the problem perhaps?
I have also tried using System Restore but that hasn't fixed the problem either. The wireless adapter is called: Atheros AR5005G Wirelss Network Adapter.
I'm having a connection issue with my new computer running Windows 7 Professional x64. When I first set it up, the wireless connection worked flawlessly, and then the next day the internet cut out and has not connected since (currently 2 days). Note that I can still connect to the Network, it is just the internet connection that is the issue. Other computers and devices can still connect to the network and internet, and as a temp fix I am using a wired connection to the same router.
My router is a Dynalink RTA1025W Rev2 using WPA2-Personal security, and my computer has a 802.11n Wireless LAN Card.
Release / Renew the IPFlushing the DNSCreating a static IP addressUpdating the wireless driverUninstalling / re-installing the network card / driverResetting the modem/routerResetting the computerDisabling the firewallChanging the security type (tried WEP and none)System restoring the computerWiping the computer back to it's original state I've probably tried a couple more things that have now slipped to the back of my mind in the many hours of frustration which I have encountered. None of the above have worked, even temporarily.
I have also attempted to connect to a neighbor's unsecured wireless network, however I was also unsuccessful with that.
Hidden wireless networks are those networks which do not broadcast their Network ID (SSID). While not that many people use such networks, it definitely ads a bit more security to have your home wireless network hidden from unwanted guests. In this guide I will share with you what details you need to know in order to connect to such networks and what are the steps for making a successful connection.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt takes between 45-60 seconds from the time the desktop is shown, untill the network identification is done. This is both after normal reboot, or resume from standby. After that, everything works fine. For me, that is just a long time to wait, and i wonder if someone else have the same problem? I tried disabling ipv6 and the option to power down the card when in sleep mode.
My network card is in my system specs, and i use the only driver for Windows 7 64bit for this card.
could someone please recommend me a few good file identification tools that can be used under windows ?

Desktop and one laptop running Win 7 Prof. One laptop running Xp.
In a nutshell, I have tried everything on this website and others and nothing works. I am no idiot around this stuff and I am simply dumb founded. I have set up and recreated Homegroup, changed settings, disabled my Eset firewall as well as win firewall. You name it I have tried it to no avail. After doing some research it appears many, many people have a similar problems. Machine can see each other, but come hell or high water, cannot access. I am soooo disappointed with this. Please tell me there is something different that I can try. At this point, all my hardware is locked out since upgrading to Win 7.
I have a desktop computer, and have a D-Link DWA-510 wireless network adapter installed. Though I cannot pick up any wireless networks even though I know there are wireless networks as my iPhone picks them up.
I have tried the following:
1/ Clicking on the wireless/internet icon (not sure what to called it, it's the icon that brings up network and sharing) located on the bottom right of the bottom task bar. though no networks show up.
2/ Adding a new wirless network via 'Network and Sharing' option - though when windows does a search for networks it never stops searching.
3/ Installing the new drivers from the D-Link website
If I look at the back of the tower the network card that I have the external antenna connected to has one static green light lit. So I gather it is installed correctly as it is lit and it was installed when I brought the computer, although if I go to device manager it is not listed under Networks?!. I have triedto search on turning the wireless capability on though I cannot find a solution that actualy turns it on.
I am unable to install my HP Laserjet 1200 printer through wireless network on my Laptop, operating system is Windows 7 (64 Bit).

I have Thunderbird which checks all my email addresses at startup but it says "cannot connect" so i started to check out my wireless.
