View 1 RepliesThe other day I noticed two csrss.exe processes going one went up to 10% cpu. So i did some research on how to remove the faulty one. I checked my system32 folder found a csrss there but that is the legitmate one. I guess could be bad still. I then tried to look in the Start up folder where they said to look so I went there and the folder was empty. I then read that you have to rigth click the start up folder and hit "For all users" still empty! So i went into msconfig and nowhere to be seen is the csrss.exe in the startup. So i tried looking for my C:\user\ app data\startup folder that way no use.
I have some info too on both the process. Looking in Spybot search and destroy's process list both are there and one process has 9 threads and the other has 10 threads whatever that means I noticed that one of the csrss had 12 threads before i rebooted. Maybe its building back up to 12. The other one has stayed at 9 always. Also whenever I right click on the processes in Spybot S&D theres a "show process in windows explorer" when I hit that it takes me to my user folder and nothing happens. Its obviously not there.
The first csrss the one that I think is the legitmate one is 1424 K memory size
2nd is 1748 K memory: this is the one that uses the cpu
Where do i find some one to review my logfile after combi fix completes it process? anyone here who can do it ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am getting this error all the time with Windows 7. I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.
View 13 Replies View RelatedNew dell n7110/win7sp1x64.At startup on new machine from dell, process explorer (procexp64.exe) lists 81 processes running (seems like way too many - compared to xp with maybe 25 at startup). But which processes I can turn off is a question for another day. OK, read carefully, at least 15 processes in PE show " Path: error opening process". PID, CPU, Private Bytes, and working set columns are shown for these "problem" processes, but nothing after that, ie, description, company name etc. For all other listed running processes (with known paths), all info is shown in all columns. The problem processes include some important ones, services, crss, ism, wininit, winlogon, that must to be working for the computer to work, and everything seems to be working properly, and no cpu spikes or other weird stuff is happening. Right clicking properties on these problem processes, properties window pops up as normal, but shows "version: n/a, build: n/a, path: error opening process, no command line, no current directory, autostart location: n/a, Parent: non existent process (708), user: access denied. Again, this info can not be correct since the computer is working. And then, after a few minutes, another window pops up and says PE has stopped working, and closes the program. Now, if this was the whole story, I would go to sysinternals with this, but read on... Task manager running simultaneously with PE lists 83 processes running, more processes than PE, and also ~5 different processes than PE, and PE lists some processes running that TM doesn't list. So PE and TM show different running processes at the same time. How can that be? For the processes that PE shows "error opening", e.g., crss, etc., when I click properties in TM for the same process, sometimes I get the usual/normal pop-up window listing the path, and all the other data as normal, suggesting the process is working properly. But sometimes when I click properties in TM for the processes that PE shows "error opening", I get no pop-up at all, nothing for that process. So, IMO, it's not just a PE glitch, something is actually wrong here. This is a new machine, with PE the only 3rd party installation. I have installed several dell driver updates, but this problem occurred before I installed them. Also, remember PE and TM simultaneously list some different running processes and TM also fails to show paths, etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer hard drive crashed a week ago and most of my back-ups went with the system. So, I got a new 500 GB drive and have been re-installing everything from scratch. I started with a clean install of Windows XP (service pack 2), which took forever to get all the up-dates done. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 and did the up-dates for that. I didn't make a recovery disk at this point because I wanted to get everything installed first.Unfortunately, the last time I went to reboot it failed. When I power-up the computer it stalls out on the Dell BIOS screen. I can't get into Safe Mode, Setup, or the Boot Menu because my keyboard and mouses are not working. They are both USB and none of my USB ports are working. (Also, I have not PS/2 ports on my machine.).
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst things first. Brand new discovery! Did you know that it's impossible not to backing-up and lose your old files during Windows 7 installation? That's right! Microsoft contradicting it-self in the first steps of installation preparation step by step information. At first they say that we should back-up our old files as they WILL BE deleted. Then they practically force an option of where our old Windows files will be backed up into Windows.old folder. So the folders such as "Users, Program Files, Windows ...etc" will be stored in Windows.old folder. And any other files created by you that are stored in "C:" directory will remain untouched! So don't worry about upgrading or backing up anything, since Windows 7 does it all for you! My advice, just go with a clean install and you'll be safer that way. Now back to business. Have you ever experienced a really bad day with such as Windows 7?Possible solutions for your headache have finally arrived:We need to try almost everything possible in our powers to locate and solve the problems, right?NOTE: I'm gonna do these steps backwards like if we don't really know how to solve this quick!

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 32 bit on my laptop and Windows 7 64 bit on the desktop, both Home Premium. Every time I go online with the desktop it starts a download according to NetLimiter. The download appears as Host process for Windows services and it expands to process 720 and then to 92.122.126.243:80. I use 3G mobile broadband for my net access and this download could use a considerable amount of my Gb allowance. Using NetLimiter I can kill the download but I would like to know what is happening and do I need the download? Some idea of the d/l size would be handy as well. None of this happens when I log on using the laptop.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can be in MS Word, After Effects, Surfing or ANY OTHER PROGRAM, and not click out, but be just working away and all the sudden SOMETHING (your part) causes my active window/program to go like it was a background process. could be in the middle of typing an email, and in the middle of a word and I can get half of it typed and then... BOOM! I'm out. The program DOES NOT close, it just acts like I clicked away to the desktop or another program.
Then I have to click back on my email and can resume typing for a bit. This happens every 5 minutes or so (haven't timed it). When it clicks itself out, it doesn't really go anywhere that I can tell, but something is definitely making my active window/program become inactive. I'm assuming it's some background process, but I don't see anything pop-up or blink or give me ANY indication at all that it has taken the active position.
I'm not sure how to even phrase this question since I don't know what is really going on. But it's driving me crazy in my video editing program (Premiere) especially since I'm in it about 15 hours a day. So it's happening, as you can imagine, 5-10 times an hour during my playack.
In fact, just at this very moment it did it again while writing here. My Chrome page became inactive and I had to reclick right here to continue writing.
I've had probably 50 computers since Windows 98 and I've never seen this before. And of course this has to happen on my big edit monster that I'm on all day. The system is a dual Xeon x5680, overclocked to 4.5Gzh, with 48 GB ram. I'm running on a EVGA SR-2 motherboard running the latest bios (as of 2 months ago). Runs like a beast in everything, very stable, just this annoying problem that keeps surfacing all the time. I'm running Win 7 Ult 64.
My PC goes through the BIOS stage and starts to load Windows 7, the GUI comes up and then it just stays there, goes into space with nothing happening. I have booted in Safe Mode and that works, but it won't boot into Safe with Command Prompt or Networking. I have tried the Repair my Computer option but that did not fix it. Then I did a System Restore but that did not fix it either. Not sure as to what to do next.

View 1 Replies View Related"interactive logon process initialization has failed. Please consult the event log for more details" I have been google-ing for hours, with lots of mixed answers. It seems like a very popular problem but no direct step-by-step answer to fixing it? I am not a guru, but have medium level knowledge if someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction!
I can access F8 and startup repair (no effect/no issues found)
My Windows Explorer keeps crashing and restarting. When I checked the Event Log, it has apparently been doing this randomly since I had the software installed (replacing my Windows XP) 10 months ago. However, it is happening more frequently now. For the most part, the errors all refer to a 'timeout' when waiting for a response from different services. Latest error:
A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the SftService service.
Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working

I've also found the startup thing on msconfig that may have something to do with it: CTMasterOnOffMonitor
So, every time I boot up and login to my laptop it says that the "Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working."
Is there a way to fix this?[CODE]
To keep my computer running quick, I usually skim through my processes at boot up and see what can be trimmed off from the starting processes, or just from my computer. Host Process for Windows Services shows up twice on the list. Right now at 125,080k and 75,476k memory. I don't recognize these processes or why they are using so much processing. Any advice for tuning those down or speeding up my PC in general (it automatically runs defrag, disc cleanup, standard accessories, etc. once a week).
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the last 2 days when I start my Win 7 Pro x64 PC I have a problem. After the Welcome screen goes I get a blue screen (Not BSOD) with my cursor in the centre and my Windows 7 title in the bottom right-hand corner. This lasts for about 90 seconds then Windows starts up. I pressed Control, Alt and Delete whilst the blue screen was up and selected Task Manager. The only Process running was System Idle Process. I thgought it was only supposed to run when the system was idle not starting up. I know Windows will not allow you to stop the process but what is causing it to run. My computer is normally a fast start-up - about 32 seconds, but suddenly this. What have I done to my dream machine (12 gb of Ram, 5 hard-drives)?
