Windows 7 has suddenly started freezing in the boot-up process. The system hangs when it comes to starting two weather-related services - didn't used to be that way. When the weather services don't load, nothing else - IE, MS Outlook - can be started - they hang as well.
View 1 RepliesI'm looking to reinstall Windows 7 64 on my Gateway computer. I go into the advanced recovery options and tell it to reinstall to original factory. Everything is going well and the computer restarts to begin the process ... I choose my keyboard type at the prompt ... but then, I get this message in a dialogue box:
"Please complete operating system setup process before doing system recovery".
I have no idea what that means or what it is asking me to do. I've googled everywhere and can't find any info on it.
Problem 1 Anytime I recieve an update or download that comes from online in get an error message and the program will not complete the download process. The error message I get has the pharse that always says %localappdata% usally thier might be something else with this usally refering to what download or update it is. Some times when the retry come up if I unplug the internet connection it will go through. I do have a Wii hooked up wirelessly through the AOL modem. Help
Problem 2 I have 2 printers. The main printer is a HP laserjet 1200 seriers B/W. The second printer is an HP Photosmart4680 which I use for printing pictures. I am having a problem with the Laserjet 1200. Everytime you send something to the printer it will not print. If you open up the printer menu it will say to clear the cue. If you ask the troubleshooter program to fix it it says it has. but you still can not get it ot print anything except a self test/configurations. on that sheet I do not see an error being shown once the cue has been cleared. I can shift anything over to the photosmart [printer and that is printing fine.
my acer aspire one cannot come out from system recovery and complete the process... there is a messages pop-out that is "windows could not complete the installation.to install windows in this computer,restart the installation" so i hit enterok... then the same problem still popout... and remain in that state over and over again..i try(F2 then F8) Advance Boot option to start my computer normally hoping that the installation to stop and start as previously.. but all the option that i try still continue the installation... what should i do??

Apps were not responding and computer is hanging up... Now computer will now complete startup process (even in safe modes). Windows and norton antivirus suspect Oem-drv86.exe is a threat, but, neither offer a fix.

HP G72; Pentium P6100 @ 2.00 GHz; 300 GB HDD; 6 GB RAM; Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Three months old. Had a problem with the network connection and tried to run System Restore first thing. It said it didn't complete successfully. Tried a different restore point. Still didn't complete successfully. Isn't that a bad thing? What could have made a new computer lose its System Restore capability? Is there something I can do about it? Have since resolved the network problem so that isn't an issue anymore. However, I'd like to know System Restore is there for me in case something bad happens.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy PC goes through the BIOS stage and starts to load Windows 7, the GUI comes up and then it just stays there, goes into space with nothing happening. I have booted in Safe Mode and that works, but it won't boot into Safe with Command Prompt or Networking. I have tried the Repair my Computer option but that did not fix it. Then I did a System Restore but that did not fix it either. Not sure as to what to do next.

I've tried Windows 7 build 7201, then upgraded to build 7229(both 64bit)and now i have Windows 7 build 7231(32 bit) and still got the problem. Having tried different things like new nvidia drivers, new sound card drivers, different sata settings, disabled any secondary LAN adapters...etc I've decided to post here, maybe someone had the same problem and knows how to fix it.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwe are attempting to upgrade the harddrive in an asus eeepc 1005ha from 250 Gb to 750Gb. we purchased "Disk Director" by acronis and are using the cloning feature.
everything seemed to go well until we installed the new drive and it would not boot. the original drive was reinstalled and a second attempt was made to clone it.
the cloning process includes a reboot of the computer to start cloning. it would not boot. a screen comes up the says "windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause..." it then says that we need to use the installation disc and the repair computer feature.
the repair window on the disc will not come up, what starts is the recovery utility which reinstalls the OS and erases everything else.
When I boot up my Win 7 Pro x64 computer I have to choose either Windows 7 Pro or Windows 7 Pro. One works but the other cannot startup so how do I remove it. I've searched on the internet but they all seem to be for WinXP and require me to choose edit but there is no edit button available.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy systems sometimes freezes during the boot process and all I get is black screen.
This happens when the error occurs:
BIOS shows up normally
Window 7 logo is shown for a brief second
black screen
With boot details enabled, I see that drivers are getting loaded until classpnp.sys. After that the screen goes black as well and the system hangs.
Now when I turn on the machine, I get a text screen asking me whether to start normally or run a recovery attempt. Usually starting normally is all it takes and Windows boots up fine. Once Windows is up and running, it's rock solid. No lockups, no BSODs or whatsoever.
Unfortunately I have no idea how to get debug details of this part of the boot process (os loader phase?).
I already switched the SATA Ports, switched to a different brand and even switched to mSATA. So I'm pretty sure it's not the SSD. Using Windows SATA drivers or Intel RST doesn't make a difference either btw.

i just went out buy a brand new gaming computer. Take about 2 hours to hook the thing up and press the power button and expect the greatest, but to my dismay I receive the error "Interactive Login Process Initialization failed". I clicked OK and the box closed, the display (1920x1080) flashes and then the same error appears. I will eventually receive a blue screen then the computer will reboot. Last night I installed Windows 7 (x64) on a separate partition.
Anytime I had tried this in the past, using Vista, it always detected the Windows XP partition, and gave me a boot menu with "Earlier Version of Windows" option to boot to.
This is not so with Windows 7.
How can I get the boot menu to show both options, to boot to XP or to Windows 7?
We have a Lenovo T61 laptop and have installed Windows 7 professional edition on it few months ago. From past week or so, the system tends to not go beyond a blank screen after turning the power button on. I've tried pressing F8 and also boot up using W7 disk, but nothing works. Its a blank screen, however, the system lights like power, bluetooth, keypad lights do turn on. I am posting the question from a different computer now.

Then 2 options pop up, start normally and startup repair. View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm not able to install windows 7. Been trying to install this since past 1 week. The methods I've tried are:
1. I have a windows 7 bootable DVD which doesn't boot up. (I've set BIOS to boot from DVD ROM first but it just won't boot from the DVD). Tried to install Windows 7 from the same DVD to a friend's PC and it worked. So the DVD has no issues.
2. I tried to run 'Setup.exe' from within the DVD. The two options pop-up 'Check compatibility' and 'Install now'. On clicking install now, after sometime, an error is encountered with the message 'Windows was unable to create a required installation folder' error code:0x8007000D.
I am running Windows XP Professional and there's only one user on the PC which is the Admin, so I do not know why is the setup not getting permissions. I've also uninstalled my antivirus, CD burning software, disabled firewall and disconnected all other devices, but its still the same.
3. I tried to install it from a USB device by making it bootable but that too doesn't work. (Yes the mobo supports booting from the USB).
The problem is that XP does not recognize a 'USB' device on boot. Rather it shows this USB stick as a removable 'Hard Drive'. Furthermore, i changed the order of Hard Drive boot to boot from this removable Hard Drive first, it still boots my existing OS. I want to dual boot windows 7 with my existing XP, but that would be after I manage to run the windows 7 setup in the first place.
I recently purchased a copy of x64 Windows 7 Business. I downloaded it from the Online store DigitalRiver as part of the students deal.

I burned the x64 Windows 7 installation files onto a DVD. I am aware that it is not going to run from my current OS since it is x32.
My Boot order is the following: DVD/CD ROM -> HDD
I tried to boot with the x64 Windows 7 DVD but it simply didn't. So I decided to format my computer using the x32 Vista DVD.
After the format, I tried to boot with the x64 Windows 7 DVD and it failed again.
So I re-installed x32 Vista and I still cannot boot with the x64 Windows 7 DVD.
I am getting this error all the time with Windows 7. I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased a SSD (OCZ Vertex 3 60GB). I wanted to use it for Intel RST with my 500GB HDD. I went into BIOS and changed to RAID and i installed my OS. Everything was fine so I installed all the important drivers and reset. When it booted up again the RST sign came up and i accelerated my drive. Then when i reset my system it says "BOOTMGR is missing". So i poped in my windows recovery disk to try and fix it but the windows doesnt detect my drives.

I intalled Windows 7 and it worked very well with DG31PR but when I try to intall it with DG41RQ the setup completes successfully(it boots itself from hard disk during installation several times without any problem) and when Windows 7 tries to boot itself for the first time it fails. After loading BIOS I get a blank screen. It happens with both x64 & x32 but other windows such as XP and Vista works fine. I tried my copy of Windows 7 with several other computers including one having Core i3,DH55TC and windows 7 installs and works in them very well. I tried 2 genuine DG41RQ motherbords but the problems persists
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed a new hard drive, and then installed windows to that new hard drive with the old one still connected and I now the two drives are somehow, linked so that if I remove the old drive, windows doesn't boot. When I reconnect the drive, windows boots up fine. I checked the boot priorities in the bios and its all as it should be.
I tried the windows repair disk, used the top option three times (as I've seen recommended on other forums), to no avail. I've tried the other options but the problem is, the windows installation is not detected, same with restore points, nothing works.
I think there's something to do with the Disk Management utility. I have the two disks, disk0 and disk1, disk1 is the disk I want to remove.
this is what the page looks like:
disk0 (boot, page file, crash dump, primary partition) disk1 (system, active, primary partition) + (8mb unallocated)
It seems the System-(thing?) is on disk1 so when i remove the drive, the computer doesnt boot. Makes sense. What doesnt make sense is that windows ISNT installed on that disk so why the hell is "system" on there and causing trouble??
Would making the partition on disk0 active solve my problem? I dont want to click on anything and break it so I ask here.
I've had an ongoing war with my PC for four days now. I have Windows 7 and it refuses to start up. Originally I tried starting up normal, it gave me two choices: system repair or start as normal. If I chose normal it would show the windows logo then reset. If I chose repair it would turn black for several minutes, then go to a blue screen for several minutes and wouldn't move past that. So i tried to boot from CD. I have the option of installing windows or repair. I chose repair, once again it goes to the blue screen and nothing happens (and I've left it on this blue screen a good 15 min mind you.) Finally I submitted and decided to just re-install windows. it goes to the starting setup... and sits there indefinably.

It just hangs there indefinitely (usually only takes a couple seconds) and doesn't load. I then tried startup repair, and that just takes me to a black screen. After that, I tried putting in my Windows 7 boot disc to do a clean install, told the BIOS to boot to CD/DVD drive. It tells me to press a key, I do. I get "Windows is loading files" and then it goes back to "Starting Windows" forever, yet again. This happened so suddenly, it was working fine just hours before this.
