I am running windows 7 ultimate x64 and have a quick question. I notice when my computer updates itself and goes for a restart, after the computer has rebooted all of the programs that were left open also restart. Is there a way to turn this feature off?Basically I'm looking for way to stop the opening of programs after a reboot, forced or not.

View 2 Replies View RelatedBought some pieces, assembled a new PC, installed Windows 7 Ultimate, then SP1, then several programs and everything seemed to be fine. But the next day, without changing anything, some programs won't start correctly, to be more precise: their processes seem to start (or at least they show up on Task Manager, but consuming only a few KB of ram and no CPU) but no program window appears whatsoever. Sometimes rebooting the PC will stop this from happening, but not always. Here I attach screenshots of CPU-Z and the customary files for debugging BSODs. Full system specs: [URL].

View 6 Replies View RelatedI need to disable driver signing on win 7 ultimate. The easiest way to do this I am told is push f8 on startup and disable from that menu. This doesn't work for me. During startup, I've tried pressing f8, holding f8, pressing f8 really fast, at any and all times, I was restarting my comp for like a half hour straight. Yes I am pushing it before windows loads. I have also tried opening cmd.exe in admin, and tried to turn on test mode or test signing.
(bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON)
This also does nothing. When I restart there is no watermark that says test mode and I cannot run an unsigned driver. I have also tried to run Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.3b. I am aware of the risks of disabling driver signature enforcement so don't bother.

Memory has been testing using program from [URL].I'm trying to install Windows 7 64-bit.I built another machine with the same motherboard, processor and RAM which works fine. The differences being between the two machines the Harddisks and Graphics card.On the machine I�m having problems with I have two Seagate ST32000542AS 2TB setup as RAID harddisks and a Gigabyte graphics card.Windows 7 installs but after the first boot from the HDD it displays "Starting Windows" and then resets or displays the blue crash screen. I tried running in safe mode list drivers as it is booting. After disk.sys is loaded the computer freezes.I�ve tried using the latest AMD RAID drivers from the gigabyte website for this motherboard during the installation, but now I�m starting to think this maybe a graphics card driver problem � are there any known issues with the Gigabyte graphics card I�m using and Windows 7?Is there a way of loading the Graphics card driver automatically.
For some reason my Win7/64 is now insisting on showing the user login screen. In Win7/32 mode the user login screen does not show. How does one get rid of the idiotic user login screen and just boot into the desktop? I've tried using the various .msc apps suggested on the MS forums but they either hang the system or don't exist.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't install my Windows Ultimate 64 bit edition on my RAID 0 Western Digital 500GB hdd's because on the boot screen my computer keeps telling me to "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device", I've done both those instructions, rebooted, reinserted, all of it, no solution. I made sure my boot priority is the drive first, and raid drives after. Still nothing. But this is the interesting part, last time I fixed this problem by using my previous computers dvd drive to install instead of the blu ray, it installed and everything was right with the world.
But I have since then thrown out the old DVD drive, and now have nothing to install with. So what I did in the past hour was used a freinds DVD drive to install and it did not work. When my System Config, is set to RAID, it calls both my blu ray and his dvd drive, ATAPI CD, when in IDE, it calls my blue ray a blue ray and his dvd drive a dvd drive. I simply want to do a clean(custom) install of my windows 64 bit on my two RAID 0 HDDs, I've checked the boot priority, I've put both hdds in RAID0 and I've also used someone elses dvd dive to try and install.
Here's the visual procedure my PC goes through after pressing the power button:
- POST screen
- Checking-for-bootable-drives screen
- Windows logo screen
- White text reading 'autochk not found - skipping autocheck' on an otherwise blank, black screen
- VERY brief flash of what looks like the same blue as a BSOD with very few words right at the top
- Automatic restart
- Back to the POST screen, etc, etc, etc...
I can still happily boot into the Windows 7 CD and GParted (they're the only bootable discs I have).If you will, please take the time to read my final post (the other posts may be useful aswell) on this thread, as it contains useful information on what caused the cycle (and what I have already tried) and has some screenshots (this thread is more of a continuation of the aformentioned one).
I have problems entering windows after the first installation of Windows 7 64 bit built 7000.After seconds the welcome (splash) screen appears, the windows suddenly reboot automaticaly.After that, black screen appears with dashes blinking.(Actually, my current OS is Windows 7 32 bit built 7600, but I think it isn't cause of the problems. I have formatted the local drive, in which my current OS was installed, before I install Win 7 64 bit).

View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery time I start up normally into Win7 everything is fine for a couple of minutes. I'll open a few programs, then after a few minutes of them running they'll hang and enter the 'not responding' mode. (firefox, steam, IE). If I don't already have task manager running the system will basically be unresponsive and the only thing I can do is reboot manually. If I have task manager running I can sometimes end a process or two but some will remain open & unresponsive. Any programs that are working (including task manager) disappear when I minimize them and no programs appear on the task bar, (though they can be retrieved with alt+tab).
McAfee also has 'real time scanning' permanently disabled.
This is all very strange as there was nothing wrong four days ago when I was away, and the symptoms occured within 2-3 minutes of booting up this evening. The system runs in safe mode.
setting / program / hack for Windows 7 that would do the same?

I checked - and found Adobe reader gone.It reinstalls perfectly - and then dissapears again when rebooted....To date, I haveRun RKill, Unhide, Malwarebytes, F-Secure (the installed antivirus on the machines). ALL come up perfectly clean - nothing at all to report.I then ran ccleaner, just to try cleaning up the environment. Still didn't sort it, but that TOO dissapeared after reboot so it seems to be NOT limited to Acrobat reader.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I start up my computer, my Steam starts up, then I manually start Chrome. Chrome comes up fine, Steam does too, but when I try to right click on Steam and click friends, all it does is create another steam process running at 100-108 K. Then if I close Chrome and try to reopen it, it will do the same. This happens with EVERY program after I start up. There's a 5 second window where I can open programs without issue, then after that it will only start 108 K copies of them. It takes me around 30 restarts just to get it working properly, if not more.

When I try to open a 32 bit program, it shows up in the task manager for a few seconds (e.g. "firefox.exe x32"), then disappears after a few seconds. I can open Internet Explorer 64 bit fine, run it with no programs, but the 32 bit version doesn't work.I also can't access many of the Windows control panel settings, such as "Uninstall Programs." I can open the Control Panel folder, but when I double click on the items inside: nothing.Background: My wife decided it was a good idea to download and run a program she received in an email from a stranger and let it bypass our Avast antivirus SuperAntiSpyware, Trend Micro Housecall, and Microsoft Security Essentials; also CCleaner, and a few other similar utilities (finding and deleting many items.) I feel fairly confident (not 100%) that there are no viruses/malware left, but either they screwed something up, or my efforts to subsequently clean the computer up did.ow I booted into safe mode once or twice, and was able to run 32 bit programs! View 7 Replies View RelatedSo far, iv tried fixing things with the Windows 7 install disk, and have run a ton of anti virus/malware/spyware stuff. They found nothing. I also cant restore to a earlier date. This all happened after some Oct 14th windows updates. From what I read, it does some stuff to your registry keys? Other than that, I have absolutly no idea. It wont even open x86 programs when its in a safe mode startup or during a clean boot. I also tried making a new user in case mine was curropted, but that didnt seem to do anything either. Would completly nuking my harddrive and reinstalling be my only option at this point?
I dont have a soundcard. I have a MA785GT-GT Gigabyte motherboard with onboard 7.1 surround. I tried to download the drivers for it, but I cant run that program either. I cant run anything thats not stricly a x64 program. Also, whenever I try to open a media file outside of a x64 program, I get a prompt that says Server Execution Failed. That only happens with media files
As a side note, If it is a registry foul-up that happened in the update, could registry reflection or redirection in the WOW6432node do anything? Registry keys are confusing to me, could someone tell me anything about this?
If worst comes to worst ,what is the best way to go about formating a harddrive? I'v never had to do it before. I have Hiren's boot CD and that has a pretty agressive nuking program.Would that be the best way to go about it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSystem was fine. Started it up this morning and all my sound was gone. I've re-installed the Asus drivers 50x. Tried the same in Safe Mode. I am using an external speaker set-up. They are Altec Lansing speakers. They have a powered sub and left and right main speakers and also left and right rear speakers. I don't have the rear speakers connected and I haven't for years(without issue).Anyway, booted up this morning and I have no sound from Windows, the internet, or my music or movies.

I'm planning to replace the 32-bit OS with 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. This laptop can support 8GB as mentioned in the catalogue. I guess the processor i5-430M is the first generation processor. I'm getting two 4GB RAM modules fairly cheap with same speed specifi'x.
I've no plans to trade off this laptop because its a rare "breed" - Made in Japan by Fujitsu and after 2 years of service it still runs extremely well.
