I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and never had any problem installing 64-bit programs.
Now, when a try to install any 64-bit programs it shows a message of incompatible version of the program with the running Windows, but my Windows 7 is 64 bits.
Last night all was fine. This morning I boot and my AV (Avast!) does not start. I tried to open excel file and I get "There was a problem sending a command to the program". Cannot open FF, but IE(64) works. Cannot run Malwarebytes, changed name to myapp.exe, and myapp.com - no luck, even in safe mode. Tried to run TDSSkiller, safe mode, tried renaming, nothing...
View 3 Replies View RelatedGot a New Windows 7 machine about two months ago. Recently discovered about a week ago that the only thing that will actually run is Internet Explorer 64 Bit. Ive bootedd into Safe Mode (with Networking and Non Networking options) and had the same results.I dont think I have a virus but as I cannot run any programs I cannot check. I think that this is some sort of Windows Error. Ive tried to use the In Built 'Startup Repair' and also the 'Memory Diagnostic' Tools, which have returned no errors.Also Ive tried, certain exex file registry fixes which are out there, and these dont work. I have some Excel files on my desktop which which I click them I get the following Error 'There was a problem sending the command to the program'I have not got any restore points which go back far enough before this issue. Also do not have the CD.

Today, something strange was happening with IE8, where google results would open in some weird redirect program. So, I installed Adaware Free edition. I already had Spybot S&D installed, so I ran a full AVG scan, a full Adaware scan, and a full S&D scan.
I found a few Pieces of malware, which Spybot fixed. adaware and AVG found nothing.
Everything was fine, until I rebooted this evening. Upon rebooting, i got a brief 'adaware startup scan' thing, and removed some file inside my Diablo II directory.
Upon reboot, nothing loaded- no AVG, nothing. I researched for about 4 hours, and found one guy who had some incompatibility issue with AVG and S&D... I then found that i couldn't open the Uninstall Programs link!
I tried it in safe mode, but nothing would uninstall. I deleted the folders, as much as I could, then deleted all Lavasoft registry entires.
Didn't change anything! I have a chkdsk /f /s running, and will let you all know if it works.
I have Win 7 that apparently only has a 32 bit system. I need to install a 64 bit program but get the message that the laptop won't support a 64 bit program.

Changes to registry are not supported, links and junctions and other suggestions seem more hassle that its worth. Should I just screw it and install 64bit XP? If I decide to give in what i can partition the 600gig and use that- 120 gig ok for the OS?

When I download a program and try to install it, it says creating a Restore Point and sits there for a while. A long while. I have found that I can go into Safe Mode and install things with no problem, fast. Even after it is satisfied with the restore point and says it is installing, it will just sit there and drag on. What can I do to get things to install without Safe Mode?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer got the BootMGR is missing problem, which I have had in the past which is not that big. I insert the Windows 7 64 Ultimate disk it starts up everything fine, press repair my computer and it finds the installation. But when I press on it and next it has an error pop up saying "This version of system recovery options is not conpattble with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that i compatible with this version of Windows." If I dont select anything but press next it allows me to look at the screen Im supposed to, but if I go to command prompt or click autmatically repair nothing will be saved or changed. This is the same disc I installed Windows with and repaired it several times. But I did have to reset BIOS earlier so this may have affected something.

DataDirector went in easly but the other 2 took a bit of fiddling..I did have these installed in Virt. XP mode but even though MS Virt. PC is the best I have used by a long chalk, there are delays starting it up and it will hang sometimes when you first click into it..increaded Ram allacation to 1g helped a little..much much better to have all the programs in Win7
Just a quick word on Vista..have used this program from when first out, some problems with driver to start but since have found it a great program for me ..stable and better than XP.. but am finding Win7 better than both especially 64bit.... has to be the way to go I remember 8bit and 16bit..Did anyone see that program on Quantam computers?? they will be like an ocean liner to a rowboat..all I have to do is live long enough!!
I downloaded some audio programs and afterwards ie9 64bit would not work (32bit Does). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the update failed. After removing the programs ie9 installed but 64bit would not load any web sites. I have tried resetting ie9, flushing the dns etc using "SF IE9 RESTORATOR" all to no avail. google chrome and opera are working fine.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried to uninstall IE9 several months ago because I was told it was conflicting w/ Firefox. After I uninstalled it through control panel the folder and its contents were still on the hard drive. I manually deleted everything but the IEproxy.dll. I could not remove this because it was in use by windows explorer. Now I want to re-install IE9. The install starts but then I get the message that some files were in use by WE restart the CPU to use IE9. After restart all that is in the IE folder is the EIproxy.dll and a folder called SignUp. In that folder is a couple of Icons and nothing else. I have tried installing in safe mode. I can not do a restore because I have no idea when the first change was made and I have installed far to many programs to turn back now. I have tried FixIt which does not help. Is there a way to disable the IEproxy so that the IE install can proceed.

Everytime I try loading the drivers at install it gives me an error stating the drivers are unsigned and to install a 32 bit OS. When installing a 32 but OS, the install works normal and the computer runs fine. I am just wondering why it wont install for 64 bit considering I would much rather run 64 bit. I went to both the MoBo's website and the main companys website for the chipset drivers (AMD) but have both turned up with the same error.

I just can't get the OS installed. I can install 32 bit, but I can't even load a 64 bit DVD. I get the error 0xc0000225, and it says it may be a hardware issue. Then it just keeps boot looping. Also, I can only install 32 bit windows with IOAPIC off.

I have been Googling this issue for the past three days with no luck. I only have one stick of RAM inserted. I have taken out the graphics card. So I only have the essential parts installed.
I am attemtpting to install the win 64bit 7 RC on a brand new build. I am using a USB stick as my install media. The install boots, although it takes a VERY long time to get from when windows begins to load the setup files to the place where I have issues (about 15 - 20 minutes). Where the install crashes, is instantly after I choose "custom Install" and kicks back a 0xE000100 error, which is a general media error code.If I use the exact same USB thumbdrive on my 2+ year old Dell Optiplex 320 (which is a piece) not only does it get past the error point, but it gets there in about 2-5 minutes versus 15-20. It looks like the issue above crashed in the step directly before choosing the install partition - It never gets to the point were I can choose what drive or partition I want to use, but on the optiplex it does, and this is right after clicking "custom install" were my new unit crashes.

Here is the story. I was running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit version. I decided to install the 64 bit version so i formated my c drive and installed the 64 bit version. All well and good except now i cannot access my d drive. I get a message "access denied". When i was using the 32 bit version i had my d drive permissions set up so that only I, as the administrator could access it and the kids login couldnt. I have gone into the drives properties and made myself the owner but still cannot access it. Also i notice that when looking at the properties it says that the drive it no free space left on it when it actually has about 300 GB left.I have gone into properties and made myself the owner of the drive but the problem is still occuringI have been told the problem is that the permission on the drive were made on the 32 bit install and I and now i am trying to change them in a 64 bit version
