Windows 7 64bit Install Error 0xE000100
Aug 20, 2009
I am attemtpting to install the win 64bit 7 RC on a brand new build. I am using a USB stick as my install media. The install boots, although it takes a VERY long time to get from when windows begins to load the setup files to the place where I have issues (about 15 - 20 minutes). Where the install crashes, is instantly after I choose "custom Install" and kicks back a 0xE000100 error, which is a general media error code.If I use the exact same USB thumbdrive on my 2+ year old Dell Optiplex 320 (which is a piece) not only does it get past the error point, but it gets there in about 2-5 minutes versus 15-20. It looks like the issue above crashed in the step directly before choosing the install partition - It never gets to the point were I can choose what drive or partition I want to use, but on the optiplex it does, and this is right after clicking "custom install" were my new unit crashes.
My Specs:
ASUS M4A79T Deluxe with Newest BIOS flashed
ATI Phenom II x4 955 Deneb 3.2 AM3 Black Box Edition

clean install to mechanical not SSD so you can use ASUS software once WIN 7 installed to merge them with the "Marvell 9128 6GB port"...Regarding BIOS funnily enough I have seen images of the UEFI BIOS in forums with all 8 ports on the deluxe in SATA configuration in advanced settings however mine only shows six (and no duplicate for UEFI like other images of UEFI i've seen"?and I have updated the UEFI BIOS to the latest version..

I have purchased and downloaded both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows7 Professional (no CDs or media here only download version)
I sucessfully upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32
Then I upgraded my hard disk (140Gb 500GB) and RAM (3GB to to 4GB)
Now I would like to go from Windows 7 32bit to 64bit
When I try and run the Windows 7-P-retail-en-us.x64.exe file it upacks the box then stops with this error:"We are unable to create or save files in the folder in which this application was downloaded. Please check the folder properties to make sure that you have security permission on the folder to write flies and that that folder is not read only".
I am the System Admin and I have full rights, and have moved the exe and the setup box files to My Documentsand I have modified the directory properties/attributes but I still get the same error over and over.
I searched the posts and some people stated one needs a clean install others say you can upgrade from any version so I am trying the upgrade here especially since the upgrade from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32 was smooth and did require all the extra work of a reinstall.

I tried to uninstall IE9 several months ago because I was told it was conflicting w/ Firefox. After I uninstalled it through control panel the folder and its contents were still on the hard drive. I manually deleted everything but the IEproxy.dll. I could not remove this because it was in use by windows explorer. Now I want to re-install IE9. The install starts but then I get the message that some files were in use by WE restart the CPU to use IE9. After restart all that is in the IE folder is the EIproxy.dll and a folder called SignUp. In that folder is a couple of Icons and nothing else. I have tried installing in safe mode. I can not do a restore because I have no idea when the first change was made and I have installed far to many programs to turn back now. I have tried FixIt which does not help. Is there a way to disable the IEproxy so that the IE install can proceed.

I am trying to install Sabrina, the Teenage Witch: Spellbound on my 64bit Home Premium copy of Windows 7. The launcher runs when I put the disc in, but when I click install I get the following message: The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.I've tried running the game in Windows 98 Compatibility Mode and as Administrator but with no results!

I have been trying to get windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed onto a raid I created with two ocz agility 3 ssds. Everytime I try loading the drivers at install it gives me an error stating the drivers are unsigned and to install a 32 bit OS. When installing a 32 but OS, the install works normal and the computer runs fine. I am just wondering why it wont install for 64 bit considering I would much rather run 64 bit. I went to both the MoBo's website and the main companys website for the chipset drivers (AMD) but have both turned up with the same error.
MoBo = Biostar TA75M
CPU = A6-3650
2x OCZ Agility 3 60gb SSDs (2.22 firmware)

I just can't get the OS installed. I can install 32 bit, but I can't even load a 64 bit DVD. I get the error 0xc0000225, and it says it may be a hardware issue. Then it just keeps boot looping. Also, I can only install 32 bit windows with IOAPIC off.
Here are the parts for my system:
MSI 760GM-P34(FX) AM3+ AMD 760G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R
GIGABYTE GV-R667D3-1GI Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
Western Digital WD Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
I have been Googling this issue for the past three days with no luck. I only have one stick of RAM inserted. I have taken out the graphics card. So I only have the essential parts installed.

Here is the story. I was running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit version. I decided to install the 64 bit version so i formated my c drive and installed the 64 bit version. All well and good except now i cannot access my d drive. I get a message "access denied". When i was using the 32 bit version i had my d drive permissions set up so that only I, as the administrator could access it and the kids login couldnt. I have gone into the drives properties and made myself the owner but still cannot access it. Also i notice that when looking at the properties it says that the drive it no free space left on it when it actually has about 300 GB left.I have gone into properties and made myself the owner of the drive but the problem is still occuringI have been told the problem is that the permission on the drive were made on the 32 bit install and I and now i am trying to change them in a 64 bit version

I built a machine using the following components:
Gigabyte GV-N98TSL-1GB Fanless 9800GT 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E
Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 (rev 1.0)
Processor: AMD K2 2800MHz
Corsair: 2 x 2GB 1066MHz DDR3
HDD: Seagate 2 x 2TB ST32000542AS
Memory has been testing using program from [URL].I'm trying to install Windows 7 64-bit.I built another machine with the same motherboard, processor and RAM which works fine. The differences being between the two machines the Harddisks and Graphics card.On the machine Im having problems with I have two Seagate ST32000542AS 2TB setup as RAID harddisks and a Gigabyte graphics card.Windows 7 installs but after the first boot from the HDD it displays "Starting Windows" and then resets or displays the blue crash screen. I tried running in safe mode list drivers as it is booting. After disk.sys is loaded the computer freezes.Ive tried using the latest AMD RAID drivers from the gigabyte website for this motherboard during the installation, but now Im starting to think this maybe a graphics card driver problem are there any known issues with the Gigabyte graphics card Im using and Windows 7?Is there a way of loading the Graphics card driver automatically.

I just formatted my computer and after completion of my install of Windows 7 I noticed that it installed the 32-bit version, yet for the last year it has been running the 64-bit version!! I have no idea why it won't let me install the 64-bit version, I even tried another fresh install of Windows 7 but I got the same result. Thinking it was hardware, I ran the Windows Experience Index and then clicked "View details etc.." and it indeed did say that my system IS 64-bit capable! What am I doing wrong?? I am having a problem. The OS(Windows 7 x64) finishes installing but when it finishes it boots up again like normal then flashes a quick blue screen error message. I have tried doing what the comments told you to do except for downloading the ISO and burning it to a disk. I just get the same error. I have researched this processor and it turns out it has been known to be VERY dodgy with Windows 7 64-bit.

I've build a computer and want to install windows 7 x64 on it. But when I start the setup I allways get a bsod: Most of the time with this error: 0x00000124. I also had these: 0x0000007F, 0x0000009C, 0X0000007E, 0x0000000A
These are my specifications:
Mobo: MSI P45 Diamond
CPU: Intel core 2 Quad Q9650 3GHz
RAM: Kingston HyperX (KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX), I've put in 2 X 2GB in slot 1 and 3 atm.
HD: 1 Maxtor I, 1 Maxtor II (tried seperatly, no success)
Graphics: Powercolor radeon HD 6850 PCS+
PSU: OCZ ModXstream Pro, 600W
The files are loaded from the DVD, then I see the windows logo. After that I usually get a BSOD. Right before I have to do the settings and create partitions. Very rarely I can get past it and start the installation, but then a blue screen comes up anyway. When I try in Safe mode, it loads drivers until driver.sys. Then it just stops.
Right now, I've put only one memory stick in (2GB) and I tested it with memtest86+, there were no errors. I also checked the hard drive for errors. I was able to successfully install windows 2000 professional.
I also tried to install Windows XP, but that didn't work either. Could it be my graphics card? If so, what can I do about it. I don't have onboard graphics.

I'm getting a new Macbook Air without an optical drive in a couple of weeks so I'm trying to create a bootable USB drive so I can install Windows 7 on it on day one (can't live without a bit of Windows 7)
I'm currently running Windows 7 on my Dell XPS M1330 which is a 32 bit install, but I want to create a 64bit bootable USB (the new version of Windows 7 I have is 64 bit and the new computer has 4 gig of ram).
When I try and do this through Microsoft's USB DVD Download tool, though, I get an error:
'Files copied successfully. However, we were unable to run bootsect to make the USB device bootable. If you need assistance with bootsect, please click the "Online Help" link above for more information.'
The online help section didn't even mention bootsect, but I'm pretty sure this is an issue because I'm trying to create a bootable USB install stick of a 64 bit version from a 32 bit version.
Does anybody know a way around this without installing 64bit Windows 7 on my computer?
