when i get mail(window live mail 2012) and receive a pps as attachment , if i try to open i get the message m( error at 0x00005 fail to open . etgc... then notice that the error comes from the temp files.i tried to save the attachment on another computer , transfer it with thumb drive on this computer and was able to open it with powerpoint . also notice that other pps on drive are working fine?

i burnt the iso file onto a dvd using Power Iso
now when i boot from the dvd,,,installation starts just fine,,,,but
after i select "upgrade" install,,,
it tells me to remove the installation disk,,,start windows and

Now the problem is,,,,when i start the installation in windows,,,i get

Every time I launch a game thru steam mainly Half-life 2 games i can get anywhere between 5 to 15 minutes in to it the game will freeze for a second then black screen then back to desktop with a message HL2 has stopped responding. I check event view and thisd is the messages i am getting:

If power was interrupted during startup, choose start windows normally."it then gives me two choices: Launch Startup Repair (Recommended) or Start Windows Normally.When I launch startup repair im left with a black screen with no cursor. Ive tried just leaving it alone but after 5hours it stayed the same so I just gave up and just turned it off.When I start windows normally it tries to load up windows but after a few seconds Im brought back to the first screen with the same two choices.I have also tried running safe mode and last known good configuration. Both of them lead me back to the first screen with the two choices.
View 6 Replies View RelatedPackard bell PC imedia something, radeon sapphire 5670 HD GPU upgrade, recent (Jan 2012) windows 7 64 bit custom install upgrade from vista 32 bit, during which I backed up all files on a Samsung external hard drive, then did a complete hard drive wipe install of windows 7, then put it all back on using software run by the Samsung drive. Went perfectly as planned. Other than that the PC was stock. One day playing Cod 8, screen inputs failed, then keyboard failed, then funny smell from PC tower, so I switched it off. After analysis, showed to be PSU fail. I took the opportunity to build a better PC, as this one is quite a few years old now.
So I only used the hard drive (WD6400AAKS)
Blu ray reader disk drive, memory card reader drive and Radeon GPU from the old PC
ASUS P8Z68-V LX mobo Overclocked intel i5 processor with artic cooling freezer 13 CPU fan Corsair TX650 PSU Antec DF-30 case with 4 led fans
All cables and such are new, and all plugged in correctly. When turned on the first time, all fans on, leds, and everything started as it should have, but No beep, monitor came on, instead of showing initial boot screen, asus version came up, then tried to boots windows, then just as the circles begging to circle the logo, it crashes, screen turns off, then on again, then back to asus screen, the windows screen crashes like before, then asks me to do startup repair or start as normally - No other options.
Every time I do this, it says it couldn't solve the problem, and restarts, then crashes, then restarts, then goes to startup repair option again. If I select start as normally, it just crashes again like before then loops back to startup repair option again. I have tried all options possible after the startup repair fails, including command prompt stuff, system restores, image restores, hardware diagnostics, basically everything. It either fails, then goes back to the startup repair loop, or tells me there are no problems with the hardware, then goes back to the startup repair loop.
I think my hard drive is corrupt, but signs have led me to believe its not completely corrupt - like it will see all the places and times on my hard drive to use when I select system restore, however after a fair time of trying each time, and with multiple possible restore points, it fails every time. I think all the other hardware is fine, and working as it should. I think some of the windows system files were damaged when the old PC's PSU blew while playing COD (it usually handles COD fine).

It was a fake anti-virus program that was telling me I had viruses in an attempt to get me to buy their fake product. Anyway, the program is now history but I am encountering more problems that may or may not be a side effect of the virus. When I try to open an application I get an error giving the file location of the application followed by the message "Application not found". I can get around this and open the application by following the file location given by the error message and opening it. It then forces me to choose which program to open it with, in which case I need to tell it to open it with itself...
This is very irritating and in many cases makes opening applications close to impossible. When I'm choosing the program to open it with, it won't allow me to check the box telling it to set the program as the default. Is there any way to solve this issue short of completely re-installing windows 7?

I am experiencing an application error �General Protection Default in Module WIN87EM.DLL". I researched the problem online and downloaded a file WIN87EM.DLL and added to the software directory. I also performed the compatibility option. The problem continues. My software is a horse handicapping system that processes past performance data files. I am able to start the software with no problem and even model one race file with no problem. Whenever I try to bulk model say 30 race files to build my database is when the error comes up. View 3 Replies View RelatedSince installing the latest Windows Update (Critical Update) I am unable to re-boot.The computer posts and gets to the windows screen and when about to load up into explorer I get the following error message in a Box. "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the applciation. The actual application is explorer.exe. Application error. If I click on OK the screen goes blank. (Black screen) Hitting CTR ALT Del gives me the options but when hitting on Start Task Manager I receive the same error this time the applciaton being Task Manager with the same error code as above. I am able to start up in Safe Mode and have tried to both use the built in Startup Repair (which is unable to fix the problem) and also have tried to go back to a previous version via System Restore without any luck. The same errors appear each time.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi recently got a computer from my aunt, and decided to put windows 7 on it. Before I installed it, I put in a Geforce 8800 graphics card and a (2nd) cd rom drive. After 20 failed attempts to install windows 7 (it kept freezing at the completing installation part) it worked after i disconnected the new graphics card and one of the hard drives. Now, however, i keep on getting periodic blue screens with the following error messages : Memory Management, and PFN_List Corrupt. I ran a memory diagnostic and it said that the memory is fine.
