After the repair completed i recieved the black screen right before choosing USER, so i tried 3x more to repair which each completed but same outcome till the point it just says cant repair automatically . Then i tried to system restore which failed also , but the catch is my system boots fine from Safe Mode.. what to do from Safe Mode to return my boot up back to normal?

It's my daughter's computer. A little e-Machine, 250G HD, Windows 7 32-bit on it. Out of nowhere her computer wouldn't boot up. I can get it to try to boot using the Windows disk, it gets so far, and then the repair fails saying:
The file or directory C:/Boot is corrupt and unreadable. Please run chkdsk utility.
I try to re-install. she had backed up everything on my external just days before. It gets near the end, and then the same error comes up. I cannot get into anything else. Nothing else will load. I don't even know how I can run chkdsk. Unfortunately the computer is about three years old and she can't remember the specifics except there is only one HD in it. She had no internet at her place so it's not because she suddenly installed something. She was using it to watch movies and listen to music mostly. I'm at wits' end, can't figure it out.

This maching was turned off and unplugged while owner went on vacation. On return it just goes to the auto repair parocess every power up.Went to DOS prompt and the drive with windows on it was given the letter D, the system partition was given C.I tried bootrec /rebuildbcd and /fixboot to no avail. Then I assigned the windows partition to C and the system partition to D and tried again to no avail.I have removed this drive and scanned it on another PC as a secondary drive and found nothing other than cookies with Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware as well as nortons. I also looked for rootkit with TDSSkiller. After renaming cbs.log I looked in D;windowslogscbs after doing a sfc /scannow process for the repair log and there was none created. I looked on the system boot drive "C" but of course there was no windows folder so I created a windows/logs/cbs folder to see it it might be created there, it wasn't.This appears to not be due to a bug but maybe a shutdown while it was in hibernation or something like that.

I'm trying to repair my Windows 7 ultimate installation. When the procedure reaches its final step, I keep getting a message that the repair failed and that my system is being restored to its former state. Is there a way to depict the cause of this failure? Does Windows 7 keep a log? Is it accessible?Do you know of any other method to overcome this obstacle?

I'd like to do a repair install but all I have is a Windows 7 Professional DVD. I remember a while back I was able to install onther versions of Windows XP from an XP professional disc. Can I do the same with my Windows 7 DVD? If so how?

Everytime I try to open up a program, a window pops up and says "Access to %1 has been restricted by your Administrator by policy rule %2.". What does this mean, and how can I deal with this? I am an Administrator already, and I am using Windows 7 Professional.

I recently built a new computer and on occasion when I turn the computer on, I'll get a blue screen saying windows failed to load type thing, and then it restarts and i have to recover. Now the weird thing is it doesn't happen all the time It more often than not doesn't work, but still there will be times where it works all day. I can't figure out why it works sometimes and not others. I don't do anything different, just facebook and Star Wars the Old Republic, so I don't think its a program which is causing the issue. I'm having problems installing Windows 7 on my new PC. I just build the computer using these parts... Not sure if that matters, but there it is. I have set up the two 500GB HDDs in a RAID-0 (the install can see the drive, so I do not think that is the problem). I purchased an upgrade version on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit through a cheaper-than-dirt college program (only $30. And yes, it is legitimate.) This gave me an ISO image which I burned to a DVD.
I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 as the first and only OS on my new system. For whatever reason, when I try to do the install, I get a 80070570 error and the install fails (at around 5% into the "Expanding WindowsFiles" stage). I assumed, with the aid of some other forum topics, that this was likely due to a bad DVD burn... so I made a bootable Flash drive and tried that... same thing.

7 Ultimate on a Lenovo computer, 8 mb RAM, Q8200 CPU. Recently I started getting notifications that my backup failed because the system cannot find the file specified, and the above error code. I'm not specifying any files, and I've reset backup to its default settings, all to no avail. I'm backing up to an external USB hard drive. In fact I bought a new one because I thought the old one was too small

Microsoft Windows Repair Disc refuses to work. What should I do to allow creation of a System Repair Disc?I created (I think successfully, as the Finish window seemed normal) a System Image on a USB hard drive. The image was created overnight. After the image was created, while still inside Backup and Restore, I received the sub-window, asking if I wanted to Create a System Repair Disc. I inserted a new DVD, and clicked to start the process. The "Create a System Repair Disc" subwindow opened, to allow the drive selection.Immediately thereafter, (with the drive selection window text greyed out) before the I could even see the drive selection drop-down arrow, a failure window opened on top of it:Microsoft Windows Repair Disc has stopped working? If the debug option was chosen, the same window appeared, but without the Debug option, leaving only the Close the program option.I rebooted, and via Backup and Restore, again tried to Create a System Repair Disc. This failed the same way. I rebooted, and used another freshly unpacked DVD. The same failure occurred.Following forum post suggestions, I have subsequently successfully burned and verified a DVD on the DVD drive.I use Windows 7 Professional on an Asus U50-F.Yesterday -- maybe a coincidence -- before this failure I also installed (successfully) all of the most recent Windows Updates.

MS Office 2007 Professional will not install. It does not get past the splash screen 'Setup is preparing the necessary files', but hangs. The summary error message in Event Viewer is as follows:
The device, DeviceCDRom0, has a bad block.
The program installed quite happily on my old Windows XP Pro computer, and the DVD drive is able to read other installation discs, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.

I have tried to install this update six times today (07/05/12) after it was flagged as an important update this morning. Looking at my update history it also failed to instal on the 18th October last year but it has not bothered me since and i have not noticed it until now. Of the seven attempts I had the following error codes from earliest to latest : 800B0100, 80246007, 80010108, 8024200D, 8024200D, 8024200D, 8024200D. I have followed advice from MS running KB947821 and FIX IT also disabled my Norton 360 firewalls and auto protect but to no avail. Also I do not have a DVD with Windows 7 as it was not supplied with my PC and I don't want to restore my computer and lose all my installed software.

i recently got a computer from my aunt, and decided to put windows 7 on it. Before I installed it, I put in a Geforce 8800 graphics card and a (2nd) cd rom drive. After 20 failed attempts to install windows 7 (it kept freezing at the completing installation part) it worked after i disconnected the new graphics card and one of the hard drives. Now, however, i keep on getting periodic blue screens with the following error messages : Memory Management, and PFN_List Corrupt. I ran a memory diagnostic and it said that the memory is fine. What is wrong with my computer? I also ran a system repair thing from the windows 7 disk, and it came up with this error: System File Integrity Check and Repair Error Code 0X490
My Hardware is:
AMD Anthlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
2 Hitachi HDT725032VLA SCSI 320 gb hard drives
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS Graphics Card
3gb of system memory

We have new HP 635 Laptops that had Win7 64 bit Ultimate loaded on them. With our Volume License agreement we load Win7 Enterprise 64 bit. I downloaded the software from the Microsoft site several times. Have tried to burn the disks at slower speeds. The Laptop Bios will not let me change the settings for the Sata drive so that is not a choice. It get 95% into the Expanding Windows files and stops. I have checked the memory and the hard disk with the Win7 dvd and they were fine. Don't know what to try.

Windows Update installation of Win7 SP1 (updating existing version of 6.1.7600.16385) reports the install as successful until reboot, then says successful and unsuccessful in the same dialog box. Error ID is 80242016. Subsequent run of windows update shows SP1 not installed. Problem repeats, even after following all steps in troubleshooting, including running the recommended hot fix for KB 947821, troubleshooting, & turning off anti-virus. Also, the windows update troubleshooter identifies my system as AMD64 architecture even though it is Intel I7 2600K. System infomation id's the CPU correctly. I receive an error after trying to install and the error instructed to get help information from a file located at C:Users... I could not find the app folder in the location it stated. This makes me think, that the windows 7 home premium edition has to be upgraded to the home pro in order for this suite to install. does anyone have any suggestions?

Ok, I've been researching solutions for issues with windows 7 backup for weeks now and have had no luck. My VSS service is running fine, and everything was backing up fine til a short while ago, and has been failing since. I have been backing up to a network share on my file server.
My roommate has been having the same issue for some time now, however he was attempting to do this with an external hard drive. Same error of 0x8100019. I've tried everything I can think of and I've had no leads thus far. Any pointers on this would be helpful.

We have an ASUS Zenbook U31F. We like it, but may have to return it because we cannot get it to print to our network printer on our HomeGroup. We have a Dell Studio 17 that prints to this computer with no problem. When we attempt to print to the printer (HP OfficeJet 6100 Series), the ASUS computer downloads a driver from the server and then issues the message "Operation failed with error 0x000003e3."
1) Updating the HP printer driver.I cannot do this. Windows reports that the printer driver is included in Windows 7 and I do not need to update it (and I cannot update it - the OS will not allow me to.)
2) Attaching the printer directly to the ASUS ZenBook ASUS ZenBook can print to the HP OfficeJet 6100 if it directly connected with a USB cable. This is not an acceptable solution: my wife needs to use the printer from anywhere in the house.
3) Registry Hack.I read about a registry hack to fool Windows into thinking that the printer is already connected. I did this and the printer appears in the Devices and Printer applet. Unfortunately, the first time I attempt to use the printer, the ASUS ZenBook downloads the printer driver and fails again.
ASUS and Best Buy have been completely useless. ASUS points the finger (I am not sure which finger) to HP. Best Buy wants me to pay an additional $70 for a support contract to get the computer that I bought from them to work. The server is a home-built gaming system built on a Gigabyte motherboard - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, SP1, 6GB RAM, Intel i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz.The laptop is an ASUS ZenBook U31F running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

I have had Microsoft Office Professional 2010 installed on my home computer for a couple of years and a few days ago it refused to open any Office files saying something about the registry and that I had to fix Office using programs in the control menu. This didn't work so I tried uninstalling office and reinstalling it but I get the following error message:
Error 1406. Setup cannot write the value to the registry key SoftwareClassesInterface {9149345A-5191-11CF-8700-00AA0060263B} TypeLib. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. For information about how to contact PSS, see C:UsersMajaAppDataLocalTempSetup000012d8PSS10R.CHM.
I have full administrator permission and controls on my computer. I have uninstalled any useless programs that have recently been installed including a norton web checking side program but it hasn't made any difference.
