Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.71.471.0)
Any thoughts ??
Ok, I've been researching solutions for issues with windows 7 backup for weeks now and have had no luck. My VSS service is running fine, and everything was backing up fine til a short while ago, and has been failing since. I have been backing up to a network share on my file server.
My roommate has been having the same issue for some time now, however he was attempting to do this with an external hard drive. Same error of 0x8100019. I've tried everything I can think of and I've had no leads thus far. Any pointers on this would be helpful.
7 Ultimate on a Lenovo computer, 8 mb RAM, Q8200 CPU. Recently I started getting notifications that my backup failed because the system cannot find the file specified, and the above error code. I'm not specifying any files, and I've reset backup to its default settings, all to no avail. I'm backing up to an external USB hard drive. In fact I bought a new one because I thought the old one was too small
View 3 Replies View Relatedupgrade my system from Windows XP Pro SP3. The setup starts and gets past creating a user account, setting a computer name etc and then restarts and looks like Windows 7 is going to startup and then I get a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH with:
STOP: C000021a [Fatal System Error}
The intial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000000 (0xC0000001 0x00100400)
It then mentions about dumping the memory out to disk and reboots. If i press F8 and attempt to boot SAFE MODE I get a requester saying that setup cannot be completed in Safe Mode. If try the startup recovery the first time it says it fixed a problem and wants to restart again but it has fixed nothing. Next time the startup recovery just runs and doesn't appear to finish.
I have run the Windows Memeory Diagnostic within the setup and memory checks out fine. I initially thought the onboad audio chipset was the issue and disabled that but it made no difference. I did get one successful installation but it eventually crashed and burned with the same error after approximately 12 hours.
I have tried to install this update six times today (07/05/12) after it was flagged as an important update this morning. Looking at my update history it also failed to instal on the 18th October last year but it has not bothered me since and i have not noticed it until now. Of the seven attempts I had the following error codes from earliest to latest : 800B0100, 80246007, 80010108, 8024200D, 8024200D, 8024200D, 8024200D. I have followed advice from MS running KB947821 and FIX IT also disabled my Norton 360 firewalls and auto protect but to no avail. Also I do not have a DVD with Windows 7 as it was not supplied with my PC and I don't want to restore my computer and lose all my installed software.

View 2 Replies View Relatedafter successfully installing windows 7 (my first windows install since XP, after which I moved to Ubuntu) and doing the initial set-up etc., installing my own anti virus software and MS Office etc, I thought it was time to let it update itself.
however, every time I tell it to update then shut down it fails. I tried to troubleshoot it using the MS help box which was very little actual help, and then tried to initiate the update manually, however, when it comes to installing some windows 7 security and system updates and some IE updates, installation fails, resulting in error code 800736B3, whatever that means. The updates it fails on are:
security update for INternet explorer 8 for windows 7 (KB974455)
security update for windows 7 (KB974571)
security update for windows 7 (KB975467)
update for internet explorer 8 compatability view list for windows 7 (KB975364)
update for internet explorer 8 for windows 7 (KB976749)
update for windows 7 (KB974431) I'm currently running avast! (v4.8 home edition) following Windows 7 informing me that it would not allow AVG to run (it was from an 'untrusted source' apparently, despite having been working a few days previously), but thats another problem entirely
Any help than can be offered will be much obliged! All I've been able to turn up from googling is a command that un-registers windows, which then for some reason allows the updates to occur, following which I can use my original activation code (given to me by digital river with the student upgrade deal) to re-activate windows, although I am reluctant to try this!

I cannot install important updates not sure about much about my laptop apart from its a toshiba satellite pro on windows 7 an when i tryed to install them this code came up code: 80240016.
I'm unable to do any windows updates due to error code 800B0100. I think a recent virus I had may have tampered with update files. I tried running the System Update Readiness Tool as suggested in Help and Support however the update installation on that failed too. Due to other problems I've been having recently I'm considering re-installing my OS at this point.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 X 64 fails when trying to load MS updates. I have Malwarebytes and MS essentials installed. Security updates for MS.NET are successful as are Definitions for MSE, the Bing Bar updates and even updates for Office 2010 (even though it is not loaded on my computer) but none of the Security Updates for Windows 7 x64 based systems will load. Every bootup for weeks it says - you have 37-40 updates. If I tell it not to update, sometimes, somehow, it does it any way and in the middle of my word processing a box pops up that is counting down to a reboot. If I don't walk away it just shuts down in the middle of my typing. If I ignore the "updates available" it changes my log off box from "shut down" to load updates and shut down.
If I don't pay close attention and change the default back to "shut down" each time I get stuck loading all the same updates that didn't load the day before. Of course if I tell it to load updates it will finish and then wants to shut down. During shut down it spends a very long time loading definitions? Then when I reboot it spends even longer trying to load updates. I must walk away. This ties my computer up for a very long time and then always has to run "start up repair" to get the PC to boot after loading updates. Every once in a while start up repair fails and the only way to use my computer is to "reset to an earlier date before the latest updates". Of course then it insists I need the updates once more! Including the ones that DID load once successfully.
I don't understand about firewalls and if I have one it is probably the default that came with MSE. (Windows also has one?) Malware bytes is not set to automatically update and run and I manually run it every few weeks but the machine always comes up clean. I downloaded and ran KB947821 System Readiness Tool but it did not improve the situation. I disabled MSE and was able to load all the security updates successfully in batches but every time I tried to load an update for win 7 x64 most of them failed, i.e KB2506014, 2533552, 2641690, 980408, 2506014, etc. Something must be blocking some of my MS updates and letting others through. I heard there was a service pack for win 7 but I hesitate to try and download it as it will probably just freeze my computer.
i am getting a failed driver install for ACPI x64- based PC driver install this happens when PC boots and desktop is up and it searches and fails . View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently built the computer that I am on and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit in December.Everything's been working great and no updates have had issues installing until SP1 came out today. It fails every time with error code 80004005, unknown error. I am fairly certain that it is due to the Windows Mail hack, but any attempt to restore the files back to the original versions (I've tried copying them from another machine and sfc /scannow) have not resolved the issue. On another note, I've read that the same error came up when people did service pack installs for Vista. I have attempted many of the "best practice" fixes for these cases - disabling services, antivirus, startup entries, etc., but this has not resolved the issue, either.

After 20 failed attempts to install windows 7 (it kept freezing at the completing installation part) it worked after i disconnected the new graphics card and one of the hard drives. Now, however, i keep on getting periodic blue screens with the following error messages : Memory Management, and PFN_List Corrupt. I ran a memory diagnostic and it said that the memory is fine. We have new HP 635 Laptops that had Win7 64 bit Ultimate loaded on them. With our Volume License agreement we load Win7 Enterprise 64 bit. I downloaded the software from the Microsoft site several times. Have tried to burn the disks at slower speeds. The Laptop Bios will not let me change the settings for the Sata drive so that is not a choice. It get 95% into the Expanding Windows files and stops. I have checked the memory and the hard disk with the Win7 dvd and they were fine. Don't know what to try.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems installing Windows 7 on my new PC. I just build the computer using these parts... Not sure if that matters, but there it is. I have set up the two 500GB HDDs in a RAID-0 (the install can see the drive, so I do not think that is the problem). I purchased an upgrade version on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit through a cheaper-than-dirt college program (only $30. And yes, it is legitimate.) This gave me an ISO image which I burned to a DVD.
I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 as the first and only OS on my new system. For whatever reason, when I try to do the install, I get a 80070570 error and the install fails (at around 5% into the "Expanding WindowsFiles" stage). I assumed, with the aid of some other forum topics, that this was likely due to a bad DVD burn... so I made a bootable Flash drive and tried that... same thing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have an ASUS Zenbook U31F. We like it, but may have to return it because we cannot get it to print to our network printer on our HomeGroup. We have a Dell Studio 17 that prints to this computer with no problem. When we attempt to print to the printer (HP OfficeJet 6100 Series), the ASUS computer downloads a driver from the server and then issues the message "Operation failed with error 0x000003e3."
1) Updating the HP printer driver.I cannot do this. Windows reports that the printer driver is included in Windows 7 and I do not need to update it (and I cannot update it - the OS will not allow me to.)
2) Attaching the printer directly to the ASUS ZenBook ASUS ZenBook can print to the HP OfficeJet 6100 if it directly connected with a USB cable. This is not an acceptable solution: my wife needs to use the printer from anywhere in the house.
3) Registry Hack.I read about a registry hack to fool Windows into thinking that the printer is already connected. I did this and the printer appears in the Devices and Printer applet. Unfortunately, the first time I attempt to use the printer, the ASUS ZenBook downloads the printer driver and fails again.
ASUS and Best Buy have been completely useless. ASUS points the finger (I am not sure which finger) to HP. Best Buy wants me to pay an additional $70 for a support contract to get the computer that I bought from them to work. The server is a home-built gaming system built on a Gigabyte motherboard - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, SP1, 6GB RAM, Intel i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz.The laptop is an ASUS ZenBook U31F running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.
I am having trouble installing sp1 despite other windows updates having been flawless so far. I tried following instructions found at the Windows site but the System Update Readiness Tool didn't find any errors and repair installation aborts. Sorry to bother you with another "sp1 fail" thread but I have exhausted my search options for solution here and in other sites, which makes this request for help my last resort.
