i am getting a failed driver install for ACPI x64- based PC driver install this happens when PC boots and desktop is up and it searches and fails . I also can not get Win updates for 3 months now it fails every-time.. i have 4g ram win 7 sp1,,, Intel i5 quad core half of my C is empty. i have to external drives SATA LAPTOP DRIVE AND SATA DESKTOP DRIVE usb to laptop to dump downloads and games and such.
View 1 RepliesWindows 7 X 64 fails when trying to load MS updates. I have Malwarebytes and MS essentials installed. Security updates for MS.NET are successful as are Definitions for MSE, the Bing Bar updates and even updates for Office 2010 (even though it is not loaded on my computer) but none of the Security Updates for Windows 7 x64 based systems will load. Every bootup for weeks it says - you have 37-40 updates. If I tell it not to update, sometimes, somehow, it does it any way and in the middle of my word processing a box pops up that is counting down to a reboot. If I don't walk away it just shuts down in the middle of my typing. If I ignore the "updates available" it changes my log off box from "shut down" to load updates and shut down.
If I don't pay close attention and change the default back to "shut down" each time I get stuck loading all the same updates that didn't load the day before. Of course if I tell it to load updates it will finish and then wants to shut down. During shut down it spends a very long time loading definitions? Then when I reboot it spends even longer trying to load updates. I must walk away. This ties my computer up for a very long time and then always has to run "start up repair" to get the PC to boot after loading updates. Every once in a while start up repair fails and the only way to use my computer is to "reset to an earlier date before the latest updates". Of course then it insists I need the updates once more! Including the ones that DID load once successfully.
I don't understand about firewalls and if I have one it is probably the default that came with MSE. (Windows also has one?) Malware bytes is not set to automatically update and run and I manually run it every few weeks but the machine always comes up clean. I downloaded and ran KB947821 System Readiness Tool but it did not improve the situation. I disabled MSE and was able to load all the security updates successfully in batches but every time I tried to load an update for win 7 x64 most of them failed, i.e KB2506014, 2533552, 2641690, 980408, 2506014, etc. Something must be blocking some of my MS updates and letting others through. I heard there was a service pack for win 7 but I hesitate to try and download it as it will probably just freeze my computer.

I recently changed my settings for Windows Update, to let it check for updates, but now it always asks for a restart. I tried almost every solution, i don't know what to do, i need SP1 for SQL Server 2012 to work, but it's not installing. I even downloaded the update from microsoft's website, but the installer fails. I tried almost every method i found :
- setting it to never update, then setting it back to automatic
- deleting the registry keys from the Update-er
- deleting the files in SoftwareDistribution
- trying FixIt (normal and aggressive mode)
- trying the FixIt method manually
- renaming the edb.log file in the SoftwareDistribution folder via safe-mode.
I can't give you an error number, since it doesn't show one.
why my windows live mail everytime I start it up, it dowloads all my emails from not just the day but the last 6 months?

I can't understand why I even need them, as I uninstalled net framework. Notice how the update at 8:17 AM., KB2656368, is the same as one of the 4 updates installed at 7:47 PM. Windows wants to install the same four kb files again.How do I stop this?

This computer is 4-5 years old. Originally had Vista installed. Did a fresh install of Win 7 Pro x64when I bought the SSD drive.

This has been driving me crazy for quite a while. Before I replace the motherboard and cpu I wanted to see if someone could decipher the log files for me.
I have played with the BIOS settigs quite a bit. It may be time for me to return to default values..

I am using 335 g with, with 249g showing as still available for a total 584COMPUTER is running very very slow on net and non- net, with occasional hang ups that last sometimes last as much as a minute. The Hang ups are more frequent on non- net and I sometimes get the no responding.We checked everything that could be using extra resources and it made very little differences We discovered one potential problem and I seek your advice on this matter-- In the info drive properties , The box that says says " COMPRESS THIS DRIVE TO SAVE DISC SPACE " was CHECKED.A friend said that if the g's are uncompressed , my 335g could possibly be double and the drive is overloaded causing the computer to run slow everywhere- He suggests that I just go buy a new 2 tb hd and move all my stuff over and keep the existing hd as a partial back up.I am extremely hesitant to remove the check box for fear of what could happen.I do happen to have everything backed up via external hd including the Operating system , but putting that in motion is something that I would like to avoid.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI use the MS Wireless Keyboard 1000 and MS Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 with my HP HDX 16t (dual core) notebook running Windows 7 x64.
I installed both Intellipoint 7.0 and Intellitype 7.0. About 50% of the time when I boot, the mouse driver fails ("This device cannot start"). I have to manually uninstall the driver and then search for new devices. It re-installs the driver and then the mouse works fine.
Windows update had 3 recent files--update to Intellitype and to Intellipoint I think. Also a MS Mouse and Keyboard Detection Driver (USB), Driver ID = 20305405. It fails to install after many attempts. I've tried turning off all start-up programs without success. Error code 80070103. I think if this could get installed it would end my mouse driver problem. Any help?
I downloaded the demo of Race Driver - Grid from the Codemaster's web-site. While it installed and lets me create a profile, to start the game it states "Loading", with no hard-disk activity and just stops at that point. Leaving it for 10 minutes results in nothing happening. Anyone else experience this?

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. I have a generic MIDI-USB cable. I plug it in, Windows recognizes it, and installs a driver. I plug the MIDI In cable into the Out socket of a Yamaha PSR260 keyboard, and Out into In, and power on the keyboard. On the MIDI-USB cable, the red power light is on, and the In LED is flashing. So far, so good, but now I'm having troubles.
I think that I need to install a Yamaha MIDI driver in order for Windows to recognize my device. I downloaded the UM312x64 package, but when I run setup.exe, it gives me "Error 25001. No device is connected."

i decided to bring over my big backup drive last night. after connecting it i was getting some strange happenings. icons in the taskbar to the left were missing and the clock moved up to October. i then noticed problems with web certificates for gmail and google and other sites as well. it was quite frustrating! i was glad to figure out it was the clocks fault. but i am still feeling the the effects. games i play on the net don't seem to be following that the clock is alright. they continue to complain about invalid certificates and whatnot. i'm having problems reinstalling flash too. it's amazing how much of a problem this caused and is still causing! i hate to be rushy but i want to get a hold of these things as soon as i can. but i know it takes patience too. i'm not sure what else to do. luckily the offline installer for flash seems to work.

For some reason, the OS install will not complete. It's saying that an optical drive driver is missing, and wants me to install it manually.
these drives did NOT come with any driver cd, nor is there a driver available on the HP support site. They must be plug&play.

I've tried following instructions from an older thread but I can't seem to get IE8 to download ActiveX controls so I can find the driver myself. All the old links to drivers in the older thread are gone now.
I tried to install Windows 7 x64 on a machine that I already had Windows 7 32 bit successfully installed. But the 64 bit install failed with message "A required cd/dvd driver is needed...." . Removed everything from the motherboard except one hdd/sata and tried installing from usb image too and the same dreadful cd/dvd driver needed message stops the install.... any clue ?
