HP DV8000 Sound Card Driver Fails Install
I've been searching the Internet for a few days now and I still cannot find the way to get my sound card to work. I have tried many different drivers and now that I'm set on keeping 7 I just need to figure this out.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on my HP DV8000. Here is my id info for my audio card so if somebody could help me find the right driver that would be great.

I've tried following instructions from an older thread but I can't seem to get IE8 to download ActiveX controls so I can find the driver myself. All the old links to drivers in the older thread are gone now.

HP Dv8000 Notebook Sound Problem
My HP Notebook dv8000 is missing sound when I do a clean install with Windows 7. Is there anyway to force Windows 7 to use the same sound driver that was there for Vista, which I did get to work? Device manager shows a Microsoft High Definition Audio Device, but I believe HP used another manufacturer for the device. I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling drivers, and get the same result.

No Sound After W7 Install - Soundmax Card
I have a think center serial is 8171-CTO; I ran the Windows 7 upgrade advisor but after about 20 tries it told me over and over again I had no Internet connection!1! Which I do as I had freshly downloaded the tool. Anyway, I decided to go for it anyway (doh) and although the OS etc installed fine, I am left with no sound. I have searched Google and read forum after forum to get it working but nothing I try works. For example I have asked Windows to "fix the problem" ... "unable to fix the problem" Tried going to Soundmax's website - their support pages are "under construction". Anyone able to help me please with links to drivers or stuff to try? I am a total Windows 7 newbie, never used Win Vista only XP (I mainly use Linux at home) please guide me through as such!

ATi Driver Fails To Install On Win 7 RC 7100
I had issues like this under the first beta then it went away with the next release but they're back with the RC version. I've tried installing the drivers for my ATi 3650 various times using the W7 64bit drivers 9.4, 9.5, and now 9.6 as well. When I run the application InstallManagerApp.exe loads into memory and begins, then I click Next, then choose Install the screen disappears and a couple seconds later InstallManagerApp.exe disappears from memory and nothing else ever loads. Sometimes the WerFault.exe loads afterwards but not every time. I've tried all of the following; binsetup.exe /INSTALL /FORCE_HIDE_FIRST_RUN /AUTOACCEPT_ALL Decompressing to a folder in my user path instead of the default Troubleshoot Compatability Run as Admin Almost all of the compatability modes ATi drivers 9.4, 9.5, and 9.6 The ATi driver pack and the CCC and Driver individual packages Updated the VS2005 and VS2008 32bit and 64bit runtime files So far none of these items have worked. The very first time I tried it made it past these stages but caused the computer to BSOD on the enumeration process and has never worked since then. The native W7 drivers work but I really need the newer drivers and CCC for the ability to change settings.

Problem With Sound Card Driver
Im currently running the Windows 7 RTM, and im having a little problem with my sound driver! it keeps installing a standard driver that comes with Windows 7, and i keep getting this message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" I have managed to download the latest driver for it, but when i try to manually install it/update driver, it says "the best driver is currently installed" And the second i uninstall it, it installs it again straight away using the standard drivers that come with Windows 7... is there any way of stopping this? This is the computer i have Shuttle United Kingdom - Home The sound card is built in to the motherboard and its a "Realtek ALC880 7.1 channel High Definition audio" Any chance someone can help me stop it installing the standard HD Audio driver when i uninstall it, so i can just install the one i have downloaded?

FPS Drop Because Of Sound Card / Sound Card Drivers
I've recently upgraded my os to windows 7, and noticed a significant fps drop in all games I've installed. The problem seems to come from the sound card. I've disabled it in device manager and I gained a steady 15-20 more in most of the applications. Any idea what to do? Is it a driver issue or something? I got an Athlon 64x2 4600+, Asus M2N mainboard, 2 gigs of ram, Gainward 8800GS video card, Sound Blaster Live 24bit soundcard. Drivers are downloaded from creative.

Realtek Sound Card Driver Issue
After upgrading to 7 I have been experiencing some random difficulties with my sound system. When going to my sound card properties, I notice that there is a generic name to the device, "High-Definition Audio Device". Before I upgraded (when I was on Vista) I'm sure that it said Realtek-something but I don't remember the exact device name. I want to download a driver update for my sound card, but how do I find out which driver I need to download if the name of the sound card is not showing?

SigmaTel C-Major Sound Card Driver
My Gateway M675PRR laptop says it has a SigmaTel C-Major Audio driver (STAC97.sys, version 5.10.4201 as an example) which works in Vista (x86). There was no support in either the Win7 beta or RC and therefore no sound. Attempting to find a driver on catalog.update.microsoft.com produces no hits for SigmaTel and a million for Realtek's AC97 driver. Several driver packages have installed "correctly" but still no sound. Can you direct me to a driver that will work? For example, where can I find the installation package for the driver I'm using in Vista?

Driver Santa Cruz Sound Card
I'm still looking for a worthy audio driver for the Santa Cruz sound card. Still nothing working for the Windows 7 OS? Answer:- Since Windows 7 support is available at: http://turtlebeach.com/support/index.php?View=files&CategoryID=311 I suspect Windows 7 might provide a generic driver. Suggest you check your Device Manager for a sound card listing.

Terratec 6fire PCI Sound Card Driver Problem
I installed a fresh version of Windows 7 and wanted to continue using my Terratec DMX 6fire LT. The latest driver I got was the WDM 5.40 for XP. I installed it under Win7 and I can play back sound. But I am afraid the sound quality is degraded. When I display the driver properties in the device manager, the sound settings are greyed out on 32 bit 48 kHz. When playing back material from audio cd (which should be 16 bit 44 kHz) the internal master clock in the control panel of my sound card immediately jumps from 44 to 48 kHz. I suppose everything I play back becomes resampled! How can I change the way Win 7 accesses the sound card?

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card DRIVER Issue
Windows 7 did not find a driver from the NET so I downloaded Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Driver 5.12.4161s (4/25/2002)From download.com, but after running the install package the install package said that it could not install due to not being the right OS. I tried several times and once it looked like it installed, but still no sound. Install driver in compatibility mode (both XP & 98) still no sound; made sure volume was up and changed the plug input on the card several times for trial purposes still no sound. Â I installed on a modified Dell Server (SC420) with 2.8gHZ P4 with the aforementioned SOUND CARD and 2 gigs of memory. The video card I post that later. Perhaps its time to buy modern sound card that has vista support. Installed Sound Blaster Audigy 2 card, now everything beautiful again.

Sound Card, Media Player, And Audio Recording Driver Issues
I have the following: a sound blaster x-fi and EMU 0404 usb sound cards. I also use a Line 6 Toneport DI-G (USB sound input), and all with Cubase Studio 4 (32-bit) and Sonar Studio 8 (64-bit) software on Win7 (64-bit). The issue is drivers. I can use the EMU asio driver through the 0404 to minimize recording latency. In XP, I could also use media player with no conflicts. With win7, I cannot play media player when using this driver. I have configured asio4all v2 to get the emu as input and list the SB as output, with mixed results and problems with media player. OK, so the question - I need to use the emu and/or the toneport for inputs (like to have both available when I open my DAW - esp. Sonar) and I can use the EMU for output and dispense with the SB, but what do I do for drivers that will also let me access playback of audio files through media player?
