BSOD Windows 7 64bit - 3 BSODs After Six Months Stable Operation?
Mar 7, 2011
My Windows 7 Lenovo ThinkPad X201 X-64 system experienced 3 BSOD crashes today, after 6 months with no issues. All three bugcheck codes seem to be for different errors.I have attached SF Diag output, CPU-Z screenshots, and RAMMon screenshots.
I have been having BSODs for over 8 months now. I could endure it up till now where it happens like 6 times per day. I think it started when i started using my iPod nano but that is just a hunch.
I've received 3 bsod the past 2 months, i don't really know where they are coming from but maybe its cause i rarely turn my Laptop off all the way. i usually put it in sleep mode. Anyways here the little windows that popped up once i turned it back on.the most recent one came when i turned my laptop on from sleep mode, maybe around 10 minutes in it just happend.Problem signature:[CODE]
I have not had much experience troubleshooting errors like this. I have several recent dump files that have been analyzed via the windbg tool I saw referenced in a different thread. I get bluescreens usually about once a day, sometimes twice a day. It doesn't really matter what I'm doing. I can be surfing the net talking on ventrilo.
I can be poking around checking out Windows 7 features. I can be playing an online game. I can even be asleep and when I wake up, it's there. I assume it's some kind of driver related issue but when looking over the dump files, I'm really not sure what I should be looking for. Hopefully there is someone out there that can share their wealth of knowledge.
I run a Core2Duo E6600, 4 gigs of Patriot DDR2, an Asus P5N32-E SLI Motherboard, an EVGA 8800GTS 640mb video card, and 3 Seagate drives.
I initially thought the problem could be sound related. So I installed the latest Vista drivers for my onboard sound device courtesy of the Asus website. A friend had suggested that the Windows 7 Nvidia display drivers could be the culprit. So I am currently running 64bit Vista Nvidia drivers. However my system has crashed after each attempt at fixing it. I ran a memory diagnostic through Windows. I walked away while it was doing it and when I came back it had booted into Windows and nothing was stated one way or the other.
For the record it seemed fine during the first pass so I walked away thinking it would report something when it was done. For the most part I've just rebooted and kinda chalked it up to it being RC and maybe I needed to wait for Windows 7 specific drivers in order to address whatever issue I was having. But as time went on, I've come to the conclusion that I should try to address this issue as it may not be something that simply goes away come final release.
I have a strange issue with my PC, I keep getting BSOD whenever I power my PC on. It BSOD's a few minutes after booting Windows or sometimes half way through loading with different error messages and usually repeats the same process about 3 times, after that all is fine. The PC will not crash at all, and would be on for hours on end, either idling, playing media/gaming/browsing etc. BSOD Error messages are often; driver not equal or less etc, USB Bug code, non page area etc.I have attached a few days worth of Minidumps that have been created (most recent). Please note, iv'e tested my memory (which most always suggest) and Memtest found no faults on a full test. And I know for sure it cannot be that otherwise it would crash whilst doing something that requires much more memory use.Iv'e took every USB's out of the ports and the problem is still there. It must be a corrupt driver of some kind or a problem with bootup/system files?

Unable to use rename. Command is normal for less than 1 second then reverts back to prior state. I have to use "properties" to rename files. Cannot use Favorites or Bookmarks. They drop down normally but disappear before you select anything. Cannot type addresses in Firefox or IE. I type 1 or 2 letters and they become high lighted in blue, as in rename, and are deleted for the next letter. Now I type the site I want in a search engines and enter the site that way. My system is built around a P5q3 Azus motherboard and runs 7 Ultimate, Norton360, Advanced System Care, and A-Squared free.
I recently changed my settings for Windows Update, to let it check for updates, but now it always asks for a restart. I tried almost every solution, i don't know what to do, i need SP1 for SQL Server 2012 to work, but it's not installing. I even downloaded the update from microsoft's website, but the installer fails. I tried almost every method i found :
- setting it to never update, then setting it back to automatic - deleting the registry keys from the Update-er - deleting the files in SoftwareDistribution - trying FixIt (normal and aggressive mode) - trying the FixIt method manually - renaming the edb.log file in the SoftwareDistribution folder via safe-mode.
I can't give you an error number, since it doesn't show one.
i am getting a failed driver install for ACPI x64- based PC driver install this happens when PC boots and desktop is up and it searches and fails . I also can not get Win updates for 3 months now it fails every-time.. i have 4g ram win 7 sp1,,, Intel i5 quad core half of my C is empty. i have to external drives SATA LAPTOP DRIVE AND SATA DESKTOP DRIVE usb to laptop to dump downloads and games and such.
I have a machine that's been flakey for about 2 months. It was fine, running Win7 64bit Home Premium just fine for 2 years. I upgraded the video card about 6 months ago and had no problems. Then, about 2 months ago, it would randomly stop responding. Mouse movements still worked, but buttons clicked wouldn't do anything. I could be running a Microsoft Security Essentials scan and it would just not progress. No malware scanners run from DVD found anything. I did the Kaspersky Rescue disc, and the Windows Defender Offline disc. Nothing was found.I assumed my HDD was dying, so I bought a new one (wanted to upgrade anyways). I took out the old HDD and put the new one in. I did a clean install of Win7 from a DVD I burned. The Win7 install goes perfectly. However, after the first login, I get the same problems after about 8-15 minutes. The machine just stops doing anything. The mouse still moves, status bars cycle but nothing completes. I can't open IE, can't kill anything from Task Manager, can't do anything with the mouse or keyboard that actually DOES anything, if that makes sense.
The weird thing is that the machine is perfectly stable in Safe Mode with Networking (other Safe Modes are also stable). It can run for a week straight in Safe Mode, connect to the internet, write word docs, etc. No errors, no warnings, no odd behavior. When I try to then reboot and login to Windows normally, same problems as above.Do I have a strange hardware issue (video card, memory failing, power supply...???) or some BIOS virus that's survived the new HDD and clean install?I'm at my wit's end, and my wife wants me to call Dell, which I don't want to do I'd rather fix this myself. I'm not afraid of formatting or wiping partitions because there's nothing on the HDD.
So here's my problem, my internet speed is fine , but the connection just drops at random times ,sometimes every hour , same time, my internet goes down and i have to turn my router back off and on again to make it work. Sometimes it doesn;t even work , i get the yellow sign on my wifi icon, on my toolbar , and i have to leave it on for like a hour before it works again.
I know there's nothing wrong with my wifi router and the modem, because its been working fine ,I think its something to do with the connection lines from my house to the isp. And also when i run a troubleshoot on my wifi , i always get the "the connection between your access point and the internet is broken" So i have to restart my modem and my wifi router. I have to do this about 20 times everyday at least. Sometimes it can work for an hour or even longer without any problems, so it can;t by my modem or my wifi.
Here is a picture of the Diagnostics Test i ran on my modem:I think the fail's are the ones that is causing my internet to behave like this.Im running windows 7. 64 bit. Im using a wifi connection. My setup is the modem being connected to the wifi router , which i then connect from. Also i've called my isp company, they said they would come tomorrow , if they do come , what should i tell the problem is? So they can fix it?
I already had 2 OS on my HDDs (win xp and win 7 32-bit) everything's fine on them. no BSOD been using win xp for more than 3-4 years now and win 7 32-bit for 1 year no major problems now i wanted to install win 7 64bit to take full advantage of my 4gb ram(i had since the purchase of my pc) but problem once it's booted it randomly BSOD (sometimes just 1min after boot, sometimes 20mins, sometimes 15mins) but it ultimately gets a BSOD..i have tried several installations of win 7 64bit (ultimate, premium, home) all same problem.. had some problems with installation for some versions (BSOD on install)how come nothing on 32bit but it's nightmare on 64bit.my latest install of 64bit windows 7 enterprise has less BSOD now (i have disabled lots of features of my cpu in my bios, maybe it's the reason) find attached my latest 2 dumps. i have reinstall windows 7- 3 times. None have worked.i first system restored to earlier time. It work for awhile then stopped. Next i went through the f8.using dell databackup disk, again worked for days and then stopped.. last night i tried the system recovery disk made when first got system. I had tried them before but it wouldnt read them..last night it did. Retore to factory settings. But when i was looking at the computer panel i no longer have the d drive...sending a picture. orginaly there was the c with 56 gigs and d with rest. now d is unalloted. I would like to partition c bigger but thats later. I thought virus but i have ran all online scanners and no virus showed. I have ran all the diagnostics dell and microsoft installed. No problems:
My problems--1. when i turned on pc today, i am getting same message that made me do first restore."Realtek PCI FE Family Controller etc..PXE E-61 media test failed PXE-M0F exiting PXE ROM" exit reboot or install boot media"
2. what happened to d drive, make it useable again?
3. How do i make the install stable?
I have my pc set at f2 to boot to hard drive. Each time i start pc i have to redo this even though i keep saving configuration to hard drive...when using dvd i f12 to boot to dvd but always reset it...so what do i do now...my pc will not stay set to boot to hard drive nor is the d drive there...i used the methods decribed-toubleshooting boot failure. system- Dell Inspiron M5010-AMD Phenom II P920 quadcore 1.60Ghz-4.00GB-64-bit os-NTFS Windows 7 Home Premium sp1 version 6.1
I'm very new to overclocking and I'm really bad at it. I can't overclock higher than 5 %. It is not because my hardware is bad because I can auto overclock to 29 % without any trouble. For my cpu I can adjust 10 voltages and I really don't understand it anymore. Can anybody explain me why there are multiple voltages in the cpu and which voltage does what
I googled around a bit about my i7 860 and what other kinds of O.C others had succeded with and during some of these reads they mention that they increase PCH to get a stable system and one used as high as 1.25 and only 1.18 vcore to achieve 3.8 ghz I belive it was, while I read other guides and peoples toughts and they never touch PCH or PPL, so im a bit confused so to say. I run these settings now and I ran prime95 for 1 hour and 12 min with 0 error.
i have a gateway nv5929u laptop with an i5 cpu and was wondering if i can upgrade to an i7 its the same socket right the motherboard should be able to handle it right ? i also want to upgrade the ram to 8ghz and install a ssd hard drive.i just need to get some advise from some pros to see if it is possible
I seem to be getting BSODs when running uTorrent. This has only started recently. Usually this is when i leave it on schedule mode, set to download overnight. Today I have tested and found that with schedule turned off and uTorrent running, BSODs still occur. I cannot be sure it is uTorrent, but it seems to only happen when it's open and downloading. I am currently running dskchk for bad sectors but as this is a second HDD supplied by the laptop maker. OEM Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I have updated uTorrent in the recent weeks/FONT]
I've just installed the full retail version of Windows 7 64bit and am having regular BSOD crashes and 'Recovered from a serious error' messages. Hardware is 1 year old (Intel DH67GD) i2500K, 12 GB RAM).
I recently bought some new ram *about a week ago* and since then I have been getting random BSOD's, but I'm not totally sure that its actually the ram as most of the time the PC runs just fine, mostly the BSOD's happen when I just turn on the PC from it being off *a cold start ?*.

I'm going to run memtest later tonight and see what that brings up and I'm going to check my system drivers etc, I'd just like some input from the community on this issue . I'm hoping its not my motherboard .
I've recently moved into Windows 7 Service Pack 1.First thing (and foremost, right now) I've noticed is how unstable and slow my Internet Connection is; Windows 7 reports my Wi-Fi router's signal strength as "Average/Good", whereas in XP it's always "Excellent". I can't browse at all, or log into Windows Update to get fixes; the connection drops erratically. What offline tweaking can I do to fix this situation? I use a REALTEK RTL8185 54M Wireless LAN Network Adapter to connect to a D-LINK WBR-1310 Wi-Fi router.
Recently I have been trying to upgrade one of our computers (Dell Dimension 9150/XPS 400) to Windows 7. While this Dell model is old, a brief search on the internet shows that several people have gotten Windows 7 to work on this model just fine, so I'm inclined to believe this should be doable. I have performed multiple clean installs of Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) on this desktop, but inevitably I will eventually start getting a BSOD. When the computer restarts, I get the notification "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" with the following details:

The BSOD is kind of a crap shoot; on some installs of Windows 7 it happens occasionally while on others it happens as soon as the desktop loads. The problem gets worse (or more likely to occur) the farther I progress in "setting up" the computer. Here is a general procedure I have been following:
1) Clean install of Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) on hardrive 2) Install all the Windows 7 Updates (the only drivers installed are those recommended via Windows Update as Dell offers none for this computer on Windows 7) 3) Install Microsoft Security Essentials 4) Install Microsoft Office Professional 2010 5) Install Microsoft Updates for Microsoft Office 6) Install other programs I need
One time I got all the way to step 6 and was ready to transfer backed up files to the desktop when I started getting a continual looping of the BSOD...with the most recent install, I only got to step 3 before the first BSOD occurred. I have tried running CHKDSK but that does not find anything nor seem to prevent any problems. I ran a memory test via advanced setup (where you press F8 while the OS boots) and that said something like "Problems were detected...you will need to contact your hardware provider" or something to that effect.
However, no specific information was revealed; perhaps a summary is supposed to come up once you reach your desktop but this was during an install where the BSOD was continually looping so I never could see the desktop for more than a few seconds. Reinstalling the original Windows XP OS doesn't seem to fix the problem; regardless of OS, drivers, or other programs installed, the BSOD inevitably shows up and does not seem tied to a specific update, program, or action.
I have just installed windows 7 64-bit Ultimate. I have Tested RAM (MemTest), HDD (windows), SSD(windows), GPU (Furmark)
BSOD: 1. Running only windows update, no drivers or any other software installed. 2. Running windows update and using browser (Google Chrome), AV (Microsoft Security Essentials) 3. Booted in Safe Mode with network connection.

I've build a computer and want to install windows 7 x64 on it. But when I start the setup I allways get a bsod: Most of the time with this error: 0x00000124. I also had these: 0x0000007F, 0x0000009C, 0X0000007E, 0x0000000A
These are my specifications: Mobo: MSI P45 Diamond CPU: Intel core 2 Quad Q9650 3GHz RAM: Kingston HyperX (KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX), I've put in 2 X 2GB in slot 1 and 3 atm. HD: 1 Maxtor I, 1 Maxtor II (tried seperatly, no success) Graphics: Powercolor radeon HD 6850 PCS+ PSU: OCZ ModXstream Pro, 600W
The files are loaded from the DVD, then I see the windows logo. After that I usually get a BSOD. Right before I have to do the settings and create partitions. Very rarely I can get past it and start the installation, but then a blue screen comes up anyway. When I try in Safe mode, it loads drivers until driver.sys. Then it just stops.
Right now, I've put only one memory stick in (2GB) and I tested it with memtest86+, there were no errors. I also checked the hard drive for errors. I was able to successfully install windows 2000 professional. I also tried to install Windows XP, but that didn't work either. Could it be my graphics card? If so, what can I do about it. I don't have onboard graphics.
My W7 64 bit PC has BSOD'd twice in the last week. I am just learning this fascinating part of computers and am still very much in the dark, however I made sure that my OS was configured to create a dump file, and it was however there is nothing in the Minidump folder, as a matter of fact it doesnt exist. So much fro configuring the OS to create a dump file on a crash.I DL'd Bluescreenview and it showed nothing. The message at the bottom of the BSOD mentioned something about creating crash dump files but it seemed that nothing happened, there was no progress indicator, just a whole bunch of nothing. I left it for some time to see if the message or anything changed and it didnt. I restarted the PC and went hunting for the Minidump report, or any report for that matter.
