How To Make Install Stable
Oct 20, 2012
i have reinstall windows 7- 3 times. None have worked.i first system restored to earlier time. It work for awhile then stopped. Next i went through the f8.using dell databackup disk, again worked for days and then stopped.. last night i tried the system recovery disk made when first got system. I had tried them before but it wouldnt read them..last night it did. Retore to factory settings. But when i was looking at the computer panel i no longer have the d drive...sending a picture. orginaly there was the c with 56 gigs and d with rest. now d is unalloted. I would like to partition c bigger but thats later. I thought virus but i have ran all online scanners and no virus showed. I have ran all the diagnostics dell and microsoft installed. No problems:
My problems--1. when i turned on pc today, i am getting same message that made me do first restore."Realtek PCI FE Family Controller etc..PXE E-61 media test failed PXE-M0F exiting PXE ROM" exit reboot or install boot media"
2. what happened to d drive, make it useable again?
3. How do i make the install stable?
I have my pc set at f2 to boot to hard drive. Each time i start pc i have to redo this even though i keep saving configuration to hard drive...when using dvd i f12 to boot to dvd but always reset it...so what do i do now...my pc will not stay set to boot to hard drive nor is the d drive there...i used the methods decribed-toubleshooting boot failure. system- Dell Inspiron M5010-AMD Phenom II P920 quadcore 1.60Ghz-4.00GB-64-bit os-NTFS Windows 7 Home Premium sp1 version 6.1

I have a machine that's been flakey for about 2 months. It was fine, running Win7 64bit Home Premium just fine for 2 years. I upgraded the video card about 6 months ago and had no problems. Then, about 2 months ago, it would randomly stop responding. Mouse movements still worked, but buttons clicked wouldn't do anything. I could be running a Microsoft Security Essentials scan and it would just not progress. No malware scanners run from DVD found anything. I did the Kaspersky Rescue disc, and the Windows Defender Offline disc. Nothing was found.I assumed my HDD was dying, so I bought a new one (wanted to upgrade anyways). I took out the old HDD and put the new one in. I did a clean install of Win7 from a DVD I burned. The Win7 install goes perfectly. However, after the first login, I get the same problems after about 8-15 minutes. The machine just stops doing anything. The mouse still moves, status bars cycle but nothing completes. I can't open IE, can't kill anything from Task Manager, can't do anything with the mouse or keyboard that actually DOES anything, if that makes sense.
The weird thing is that the machine is perfectly stable in Safe Mode with Networking (other Safe Modes are also stable). It can run for a week straight in Safe Mode, connect to the internet, write word docs, etc. No errors, no warnings, no odd behavior. When I try to then reboot and login to Windows normally, same problems as above.Do I have a strange hardware issue (video card, memory failing, power supply...???) or some BIOS virus that's survived the new HDD and clean install?I'm at my wit's end, and my wife wants me to call Dell, which I don't want to do I'd rather fix this myself. I'm not afraid of formatting or wiping partitions because there's nothing on the HDD.

So here's my problem, my internet speed is fine , but the connection just drops at random times ,sometimes every hour , same time, my internet goes down and i have to turn my router back off and on again to make it work. Sometimes it doesn;t even work , i get the yellow sign on my wifi icon, on my toolbar , and i have to leave it on for like a hour before it works again.
I know there's nothing wrong with my wifi router and the modem, because its been working fine ,I think its something to do with the connection lines from my house to the isp. And also when i run a troubleshoot on my wifi , i always get the "the connection between your access point and the internet is broken" So i have to restart my modem and my wifi router. I have to do this about 20 times everyday at least. Sometimes it can work for an hour or even longer without any problems, so it can;t by my modem or my wifi.
Here is a picture of the Diagnostics Test i ran on my modem:I think the fail's are the ones that is causing my internet to behave like this.Im running windows 7. 64 bit. Im using a wifi connection. My setup is the modem being connected to the wifi router , which i then connect from. Also i've called my isp company, they said they would come tomorrow , if they do come , what should i tell the problem is? So they can fix it?

Unable to use rename. Command is normal for less than 1 second then reverts back to prior state. I have to use "properties" to rename files. Cannot use Favorites or Bookmarks. They drop down normally but disappear before you select anything. Cannot type addresses in Firefox or IE. I type 1 or 2 letters and they become high lighted in blue, as in rename, and are deleted for the next letter. Now I type the site I want in a search engines and enter the site that way. My system is built around a P5q3 Azus motherboard and runs 7 Ultimate, Norton360, Advanced System Care, and A-Squared free.

For my cpu I can adjust 10 voltages and I really don't understand it anymore. Can anybody explain me why there are multiple voltages in the cpu and which voltage does what

I googled around a bit about my i7 860 and what other kinds of O.C others had succeded with and during some of these reads they mention that they increase PCH to get a stable system and one used as high as 1.25 and only 1.18 vcore to achieve 3.8 ghz I belive it was, while I read other guides and peoples toughts and they never touch PCH or PPL, so im a bit confused so to say. I run these settings now and I ran prime95 for 1 hour and 12 min with 0 error.

I've recently moved into Windows 7 Service Pack 1.First thing (and foremost, right now) I've noticed is how unstable and slow my Internet Connection is; Windows 7 reports my Wi-Fi router's signal strength as "Average/Good", whereas in XP it's always "Excellent". I can't browse at all, or log into Windows Update to get fixes; the connection drops erratically. What offline tweaking can I do to fix this situation? I use a REALTEK RTL8185 54M Wireless LAN Network Adapter to connect to a D-LINK WBR-1310 Wi-Fi router.

Advertised to run 1.65v 9-9-9-27 at 1600 MHz. I've tried bumping up voltage and QPI to no avail. Will run at 1600 MHz for usually less than an hour before the computer shuts off. No BSOD, no errors, just shuts off.

I have found tutorials (here and elsewhere) for custom Windows (7/XP/Vista...) install disks, should you wish to tailor your Windows install to your needs. However, I have not found anything relating to my current question. While I will create one of these Windows disks, what I am wondering right now is: Is it possible to do the same thing with multiple programs from different vendors?I would like to eventually create a Windows install disk that has been trimmed of all the excesses I do not need, adding drivers, SP1 and some critical updates instead. If there is enough room on the install disk, I would like to add some third-party programs to be installed as well. It may turn out that I would need a Windows disk and an applications/programs disk also (as the programs themselves would be rather numerous and/or bulky).I know it is possible, since the big OEMs do this, but would it be cost-efficient (read: free), or even possible, for an end user to do

I have installed the Elan touchpad driver I can't get it to scroll correctly. In addition an Elan touchpad .exe run box comes up at every boot which does nothing when Run. I finally browsed to it in the Programs folder and deleted that .exe file so it wouldn't pop up at every start. It shows installed in the Device Manager, however doesn't have the functions I had in the Samsung factory install. This and the sound driver don't seem to work right when installed, as though there is more software needed that isn't on the Downloads page at Support for NP-RF511.

After the install is finished will they be useable or will I have to reinstall them?

I wanted to create a partition for games at the beggining of the 2nd drive (the left side) as i heard it increased performance to put games in anoher drive and at the beggining of the drive. Will it make difference to make a partition at the beginning or at the end of this drive when it comes to gaming performance? My cousin showed me one game in the same drive installed in the 1st of four partitions of a 500gb 7200rpm (the same i have) performing with 3-5 fps more than that game installed in the 4th partition of that same drive....

It will get as far as "expanding files" then stop at 0%, with an error saying "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation." I have tried it with multiple iso burns on different dvds from the download I got of it, redownloading it from the official downloader, and now have tried the dvd that came in the mail, to no avail.

I want to take my Windows 7 from 32-bit to-64 bit. I know that to get from a 32 bit OS to 64 bit you have to do a clean install. Problem is, i upgraded to 7 from Vista about a year ago using a 32 bit version downloadable installer so there's no discs with 32 and 64 bit version. So I guess my real question is can i use a 32 bit upgrade version's key on a 64 bit non-upgrade version? I could download a 64 bit version ISO and do a clean install with that, right?.as long as the key i already have would work?

Someone want to explain how the hell you make a bootable ISO from these leaked builds?
Everything I try is FUBAR.
Edit: Okay..nevermind..I Frankenstein it and figured it out finally..I just copied the install files onto my USB flash drive and rebooted and set to boot to USB drive.
No need for an ISO
Edit 2: ...Okay..I give up..I get an error during install saying Windows can't install the required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. bla bla
Anyone else getting this with the 32bit leaked copy that just came out?

i recently acquired a virus that i've now taken care of, but it seems to have left my computer damaged. i can't change my wallpaper, for one. and whenever i save or upload something (for example, when i want to upload a video on to Internet and you get that window pop-up where it gives you the option to upload something from a certain location), the location for desktop is completely missing when i use one of my browsers - i can't access it at all.
i've also noticed recently that i can't even make changes to my desk top icons. i arrange it by date -for instance- and when i restart the computer, it goes back to the way it was before the change?
