Make Sure That My Core Is Not Hot?
Jan 11, 2013I just downloaded speedfan and I noticed that my CPU is really hot.
I don't know much about it, but is my pc in danger with this heat? my room is 21 C and outside is -1 to -5 C

I'm not overly familiar with low-end hardware (look at my specs ). What was the difference between Intel's Core 2 Duo and their Pentium Dual core? They seemed like identical CPUs to me.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having is that I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate (from XP Ultimate) and the computer was working really slowly.
First I opened task manager and found only one CPU was being monitored, there was only one window for one CPU, not two windows with only one firing!
This I found strange, checked the WEI and my processor got a 2.3 rating (its a Core 2 Duo @ 1,83Mhz, a T5600), I then downloaded a tone of widgets to check if they could "see" the other core, nothing. I went into msconfig, the no. of processors box is unchecked, if I check it, the drop down menu only gives me the option of picking 1 CPU.
using Vista, but I can't seem to be able to use his fix: [URL] (bottom of page, can't find the HAL detection checkbox)
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on an HP nx9420 laptop with 3GB of RAM, a new HDD (250GB), the old one just stopped working really, and the Core 2 Duo T5600 @ 1,83Mhz that is running only one core.
QX9650, quad core, task manager, cpu-z, cpu-id, shows showing only 2 two cores.I recently upgraded an Intel E8500 to a QX9650 and had the problem of Windows 7 only showing 2 of the 4 cores. It took a few frustrating hours to find the solution, but I got there in the end without the need for a Windows re-install.
1st: You must have Windows 7 Professional. Home Premium does not support more than 2 cores. Upgrade to Pro.
2nd: If Task manager and CPU-Z are only showing 2 cores, you'll be feeling pretty confused, right?
Go to Start-->Run, type MSCONFIG.Under the BOOT tab, click 'Advanced Options'.In the top left corner it says "Number of Processors" (you'll have been here already and it says '2').Uncheck this and do a reboot. This solved my hours of confusion. Now I have 4 cores in Task Manager, CPU-Z and all is well.If all this fails, then get yourself set up for an OS reinstall; that should get you where you want to be.
I'm having an issue with my CPU. It seems that it is only using one of its cores. This issue first became apparent to me when I was trying to run Blacklight Retribution. It popped up a warning message saying that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements of have at least a dual core. And indeed the game was unplayable, with single digit fps constantly. However when i go to the performance tab of my task manager it shows 4 graphs, meaning that 4 cores must be running. Then I go the boot tab of my systems configuration, click on advanced options and underneath the "Number of Processors:" check box (which is unchecked), it shows 1 as the number of processors. My processor is an Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.60GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz.

Ever since i upgraded windows has only seen one core even though its a dual core system. The processor is a AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ 2.20Ghz.
I have checked the BIOS and cant find any related settings and when i go to msconfig in the boot menu (advance) Number of processors is unchecked by default and if i check it the drop down only shows one core. The device manager is not showing any driver issues.

aren't they supposed to carry the load equally, Or is that normal? When I have something else up besides the game I'm playing (MineCraft online) it evens out more.

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I bought Windows7 and did a fresh install from WinXP. The hardware changes I made were adding my other 10k rpm raptor hd so I can run Win7 in raid0 config. I couldn't get it to work for WinXP. Everything has gone smooth with all the installation. The problem I'm experiencing is high core temps on my i7-860 quad core. When I had XP installed, I was idleing at 38-43C and running 68-74C while running games. Now I'm idleing anywhere from 42-65C and I'm hitting 95+C while running BFBC2. I didnt notice this until I first installed BFBC2 and it kept crashing on me, during loading my pc shuts down completely. P.S. I am running a stock intel cooler fan(i know....i just ordered a coolermaster from newegg). Although I'm running a stock cooler, under XP my temps were still ok..
SystemSpecs:
Gigabyte P55A-UD3 mobo
Intel i7-860@2.8ghz
4g OCZ ram1600
Asus GTX560 1GB
Xion 600watt PS
2 WD Raptor 10k rpm hd's
My laptop has 4 cores, but the game I play isn't multi threaded. I want to dedicate 1 core to my game and one core to FRAPS. The only way I know how to do this is by going to each and every process in Task Manager and setting it's affinity. But that takes a while and isn't "permanently" saved... Is there a faster/simpler way to do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from vista to windows 7. Its worked like a charm, but there are one problem.
I have a q6600 cpu(4 cores), and after the upgrade windows see just one core.
(In task manager(One Graph per cpu checked)/Resource Monitor)
In the Device Manager under Processors are listed 4 "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz" device.
I reinstalled the old drivers, removed them but no luck.
Any advice?
How can i do to force a program to use only 1 core ?

View 5 Replies View Relatedmy laptop spec are:
Core 2 duo T5800 2GHz
3GB DDR2 RAM 667
ATI HD 3470
Can this handle 64bit? I see some people here have good experiences with 4GB ram, but some recommended 8GB.
After my computer wakes from sleep mode, Core#1 shoots up to 70-95% and the rest are normal (1-3% at idle). I have DPC latency check with no spikes. Updated several drivers. I did a clean reinstallation of windows home premium 64bit. Re did the latency checker again and updated the drivers again. Still noting. I have been up and down every forum and cannot get help for the life of me. I would love to have the computer wake up from sleep mode without these issues. Also, ran malwarebyes with noting, superantispyware with nothing so I guess I will rule out a virus. I ran process explorer (and another third party explorer) and it was the Deferred Call Procedure, or something like that.
