Bad Block Installation Error With MS Office Professional 2007 In Windows 7
Feb 2, 2011
MS Office 2007 Professional will not install. It does not get past the splash screen 'Setup is preparing the necessary files', but hangs. The summary error message in Event Viewer is as follows:
The device, DeviceCDRom0, has a bad block.
The program installed quite happily on my old Windows XP Pro computer, and the DVD drive is able to read other installation discs, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.

I am trying to install Office Professional 2007 on a computer with Windows 7 Home Premium. Is this OS compatible with this suite? I receive an error after trying to install and the error instructed to get help information from a file located at C:Users... I could not find the app folder in the location it stated. This makes me think, that the windows 7 home premium edition has to be upgraded to the home pro in order for this suite to install. does anyone have any suggestions?

I already have MS Office Home and Student 2007 suite installed. I am running Windows 7 Pro on a Dell 8100. I also own MS office 2007 Pro, which I purchased so I could install Outlook 2007. How do I select and install only Outlook 2007 from this office suite, without installing the complete Pro suite? I looked under Customize during setup and the only thing I could see is to click on each of the + to make it -. Will that disable all the programs I don't want so only Outlook installs?

I have a starter edition of windows 7 that came pre-installed on my HP 110 series mini. I also have a 2007 ms office proffessional CD (even though I plan only to install word, excel, outlook). Will my mini be able to handle those features of MS Office I have described (word, excel, and outlook)? In the event I will need to upgrade, what should I get? Also, would it help if I left out excel ?

Each time I launch an MS Office Enterprise 2007 application (such as Word or Excel) MS Office "Configures" itself for 2-3 minutes before allowing the app to open. In a possibly related issue, MS Outlook refuses to allow me to set-up ANY e-mail accounts. I am running a 64-bit version of Windows 7, and have run ALL Updates for Windows, and ran the Service Pack 2 for MS Office 2007.

MS Office 2007 Professional will not install on my freshly-reinstalled Windows 7 system. It does not get past the splash screen 'Setup is preparing the necessary files', but hangs. The summary error message in Event Viewer is as follows:The device, DeviceCDRom0, has a bad block.
The detail is:
+ System
- Provider
[ Name] cdrom
- EventID 7
[ Qualifiers] 49156
[code].....
There does not seem to be a problem either with the DVD drive or with the actual installation discs; the program installed happily on my other Wiindows XP PC, and the DVD drive seems to be able to read other installation discs satisfactorily.

I've just put Windows 7 on laptop and tried reinstalling student version of Office Professional Plus 2007 (which was on there before but with Vista). It gets nearly halfway through installation before it says that it can't find setup.exe and asks me to browse folders to find where it is. I've tried looking but can't find it and so have to abort process.

I just bought a Toshiba laptop that has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed on it. I have tried several times to install Office 2007 but for whatever reason it gets probably about 70 percent done and then it just hangs. At first I thought it was because the CPU sitting at 80-90 percent even before installing. I found some .NET services that were using up alot of that CPU so I disabled them and tried installing again but I still hung. I am getting no error messages so right now I am at a loss.

My computer's hard drive has failed and I purchased a new one yesterday. I need to know how to install my MS Office Prof 2007 Upgrade without a previous version installed on the new PC. There must be a way since Best Buy did this for me last time.

I have had Microsoft Office Professional 2010 installed on my home computer for a couple of years and a few days ago it refused to open any Office files saying something about the registry and that I had to fix Office using programs in the control menu. This didn't work so I tried uninstalling office and reinstalling it but I get the following error message:
Error 1406. Setup cannot write the value to the registry key SoftwareClassesInterface {9149345A-5191-11CF-8700-00AA0060263B} TypeLib. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for assistance. For information about how to contact PSS, see C:UsersMajaAppDataLocalTempSetup000012d8PSS10R.CHM.
I have full administrator permission and controls on my computer. I have uninstalled any useless programs that have recently been installed including a norton web checking side program but it hasn't made any difference.

I have been running Office 2007 on a Windows 7 machine for 2 plus years with no issues. Just recently I have had trouble launching Outlook or once launched it stops responding. I ran the Office diagnostic tool and it was unable to complete due to a Bootstrap file missing. I tried to reinstall Office using the Repair setting and it failed too.

Just bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine. Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

I have set up several outlook (2007) signatures and now they are gone. They are listed in the drop down menu when I click insert, signature; but when I select one, it does not appear in my e-mail. nothing does. I am not able to edit or delete them. I am able to create new ones but can't use the same name as the old ones, because a pop up say it already exists. I did some search and found out the htm, txt, and rtf files are located in C: user, <user>, appdata, roaming, msoft, signatures. I see both the ones that won't appear and the new ones I created. Not sure if this is related to my issue, but i ran a few free scans to see if i could find and fix problem. (regcleanPro, RegBoost, CCleaner) they all found a ton of errors. I'm missing a load of HKEY files, plus other stuff, too much to list.

I now have a new problem, before I managed to open 2007 files by opening Office 2010 and then from inside the application choosing to open a file. The problem I have though is if I just try to open an Office 2007 file then I can't open it, and I can't change the default program to open it. How do you get Office 2010 to open all the Office 2007 files such as word, excel etc?

I probably should have uninstalled 2010 prior to installing 2007. How do I remove 2010 without screwing up 2007?
