Dec 19, 2012
I have read several articles on re-installing and/or repairing Windows 7 Home 64-bit and i have not been successful.I have created in the past a. System Repair disk and. Macrium boot disk. They havent let me repair the OS.When I insert the Repair Disk in the DVD drive i get the following error message System Repair Disk could not be created. The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057)The same previous Repair disk would not open Windows and after a long freeze over a basic Windows blue screen it gives the following error message: error 0x4001100200001012

Over the past few weeks I have been getting intermittent BSOD's and pc freezes. When the pc has frozen (does not respond to any keyboard commands etc) it sort of powers up, but I get no signal to the monitors and no 'beep' as when the pc boots up properly. If I leave it for 10-15mins it will boot up again fine, but then I get BSOD's. I have had multiple errors such as SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION , BAD_POOL_CALLER, and the BSOD not giving an error as before but listing a .sys file, such as FLTMGR.SYS, TCPIP.SYS, ATAPORT.SYS, NFTS.SYS.I haven't recently installed any new hardware apart from a new 4gb of ram (2x2gb sticks) which I have had for 3 months + now. The only other hardware/software I installed recently was a Logitech webcam, and oddly the crashes did start occuring after this.I have ran memtest for multiple sweeps on each stick of ram and no issue, I have also ran chkdsk and it found no errors. The pc this morning has really been BSOD'ing like mad, so I now have it in safe mode replicating what I was doing and no BSOD as of yet.I have a minidump of the most recent BSOD (as they dont always report a BSOD when they freeze). My pc is around 3.5yrs old, is running Windows 7 64bit, has an Intel Pentium CPU E2220 2.4 ghz processor, and 8gb of DDR2 ram.

It's been like this ever since I uninstalled a theme and icon package (7CONIFIER) that had been giving me error messages on boot. Since then, I've deleted the IconCache.db, re/downloaded 7CONIFIER and IconPackager to use their restore functions. I've also tried pinning/unpinning to the taskbar, this works and the original icon is restored until I close it or right-click it where it just goes back to the blank white icon.

So about a week ago, I was just playing a flash game when my screen appeared to freeze, upon unfreezing Windows Aero stopped working(the transparency on the task bar disappeared). There was no error, it just stopped working. After looking around my computer it told me that Aero wasn't supported, which did not make sense considering it was just supported. So I did a system restore(it was made after a windows update) and it started working again. It worked fine for a few days and just today it did the exact same thing. Of course, I resolved this issue with a system restore as previously, but I would like to find out what the problem is exactly to fix it, since my current solution is just going to be an annoyance.

My Lapton is an Acer Aspire 5333; O.S. is Windows 7, Anti-virus is ESET NOD 32, which is fully up to date. The day after undertaking the latest MS Updates, my laptop is running (just) very slowly, crashes inferquently, and takes an age to open even simply items like excel spreadsheet etc. I have run a full scan using and the A.V. found nothing (after several hours of chugging). This first occured on Thursday 21st (three days ago). I now have the following message in the bottom right of the desktop.Build 7601his copy of windows is not genuineI know the copy of windows is genuine, as it was pre-installed on laptop when purchased new circa 13 months ago.I have just also had a pop-up message in the middle of the screen, with warning triangles etc around it."You may be a victim of software counterfitting"Please follow the below link...........etc etcI've had a quick check on Google, and it appears i am not alone with this issueI would not describe my technological knowledge of P.C. workings as anything other than "entry level beginner"

I've started to get random BSOD's on my computer a few weeks back. They seem to have, in all cases but one, been triggered while running a game in fullscreen. A couple of times the computer also just froze, without any BSOD. The funny part is; I've gotten at least four different kinds of error messages on those BSODs. Here are the details: BSOD error messages.

This computer has been experiencing BSODs with varying messages for quite some time now, and I've replaced most of the hardware components-- processor, motherboard, power supply, memory and video card-- in trying to find the faulty component. Since the newest hardware iteration is still experiencing errors, I'm led to believe the problem lies in the software rather than the hardware. I've attached the Seven Forums folder and updated the system info in my profile to the best of my ability as requested, since this stuff is way above my understanding.

I recently upgraded my setup with an Asus M4A78LT-M mobo, Athlon II X4 640 processor and TakeMS 2x2GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory. After installing the parts I tried to boot to Windows but it always resulted in the same BSOD so I reinstalled my system. After installing Windows for the first time I had some problems downloading updates and I got a couple of BSOD's during the update process. I then thought the installation was faulty and reinstalled it again from a different DVD. Once again I got two BSOD's during the Windows update but after all updates and drivers had been installed the problems vanished and three days pass without any problems.
Today I was watching a movie from my computer and suddenly the computer made a BSOD. I rebooted, opened Event Viewer and got a BSOD again. I ran memtest for 6 hours and it passed 5 times without errors. I had set the memory timings to 9-9-9-24 and memory voltage to 1.5 after the first BSOD's a few days back to ensure they were running at the proper settings. Apparently it didn't work. The new processor consumes 25W more than my previous E5200 so maybe my 500W power can't keep up with it sometimes?

I am going nuts with this problem and maybe you guys are the only ones who can help. Even Answers.Microsoft.com hasn't been able to give me a solution that works. Here's the problem:very time I start my computer and I click on an icon (on the desktop or in the Start menu), the icon disappears and this error message shows up about a dozen times:"Could not find this item. This is no longer in C:...Verify this item's location."I've done all of the following and none of them have worked: System Restore before certain Microsoft updates I get the same problem in Safe Mode The problem gets worse when I create another user account and use that account instead of the Administrator account I've replaced Avira antivirus with Microsoft Security Essentials and ran a full scan I've tried a Clean Reboot Full scans using Avira, Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy ClamWin, and various Microsoft downloadable fixes Windows Command Processor (CMD) > sfc /scannow Adding, changing, and subtracting registry entries Yelling and swearing at it... I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on an HP G60 Notebook with 3GB RAM with Pentium Dual Core T4300 @ 2.10GHzThe strange thing is about ten minutes after getting these icons disappearing and error messages, the system seems to return to normal. This morning I started the computer, let it run for 20 minutes without touching anything. Then I clicked on an icon and get the same problem: it gets sent to the Recycle Bin with the error messages.

I am having a rather strange issue which, although is not hindering the use of my computer, is still something that I would like to try and resolve. I purchased a Dell Inspiron 545 about a month ago (first week of Oct. 09). Given that Windows 7 wasn't available at that time to the general public, my new computer came with Vista Home Premium.
My computer does not currently have an aftermarket sound card; I only have the OEM one that came with the computer. Also, I currently do not have any speakers or any other external audio devices that are currently hooked up to my computer. While I was using Vista I never had any problems or warning prompts appear when using audio programs like iTunes even though I didn't have any external audio devices connected to my computer. No problem there.
When I received my copy of Windows 7 Pro I decided to do a clean install on my computer. After installing 7 I went through and manually installed all of the audio drivers that were on my computer when I received it from Dell
(note: although the audio drivers were the same the re-installed ones were the updated versions designed for Win 7). I didn't use the driver disk that came with my computer though, because of the hassle of using those disks. Instead I manually downloaded the drivers that I needed from the Dell support page.
After re-installing all of the drivers, updates, and programs on Win 7 I noticed the following: every time that I opened an audio program like iTunes I would receive a warning prompt claiming that "iTunes has discovered a problem with your audio configuration; audio may not operate properly".
Furthermore, I have a Sony voice recorder that I use for school and the program for the recorder gives a similar error message claiming that "the file cannot be played back; check your audio drivers or operating system". In addition, this error message prevents me from editing any of the voice files I have saved on my computer.
But the strange thing is that all of these error messages disappear when I plug in my headphones. The messages go away, I am allowed to edit my voice files, and the sound works great.
As I said above, the audio drivers I currently have installed are identical to those that originally came with my computer. Given that I had never received similar error messages when not having speakers or headphones hooked up to any of my past computers or to my current computer before I installed Windows 7, I am assuming that the operating system is the culprit.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, do you know how to fix it?

MS thinks that one of my PCs is running Windows 7 that's not genuine. It is genuine - at least I bought it from Amazon and paid 141 for it so that - to me - means it's genuine. It may not be but neither Amazon nor MS will take any responsibility for it not being genuine so I've given up with them both. I think that the issue arises because of hardware changes I've made. Oh - yes, I've lost the box with the key on it too.I use this PC very little and when I first first got the black screen and messages after I installed a larger hard drive and reinstated the drive image from an Acronis backup. I stupidly forgot to reinstate the drive signature. Then it happened again when I changed the ITX motherboard.Every now and then it gives me the "black screen" treatment. I fix it by restoring a drive image and turning off Windows 7 updates. If the damned thing is told not to call home then it shouldn't should it? It seems to give me a month or two and then goes psycho on me like HAL9000!

Up until 2 days ago, everything was peachy. Then, for whatever reason, my computer decided to not connect to the internet. The weird thing is, it says its connected in the system tray, and the windows internet diagnostics tell me that it "Can't identify the problem". My laptop is hooked up both wirelessly and hard wired to a router, but I doubt its the router that's the issue, because I'm currently typing this from my school laptop, which is working fine. As is every other computer. So its just that laptop. I don't really know how to make it clear exactly whats wrong, but I'll try my best. When I run windows live messenger troubleshooting, it tells me "key ports" isn't working.Peerblock, upon starting the computer, would give the error message:
base filtering engine
ipsec poligy agent
ike authIP IPsec keyring modules
So I looked for ways to fix that, and found out that this was caused by a virus. 2 scans and 26 problem fixes later, I download a BFE fix from my school laptop and transfer it over to the fail one, and peerblock seems to work, but can't load because I still don't have internet access. edit: peerblock seems to be working fully, blocking incoming connections. Still can't connect to anything else. There is no little error icon on the internet thing in the system tray.

Since last weeks I've had multiple BSOD's and it seems to happen mostly while I play games through steam. Games like GTA4, The witcher 2 and Sleeping dogs cause the crashes while I for some reason can play Shogun Total war 2 for hours without problems. Games that are not connected to steam, like Battlefield 3, seems to work good as well. I don't have any cd/dvd tools like Daemon tools installed.

I am experiencing issues with my ASUS graphics card and my Intel HD display driver. Whenever I am playing a videogame or doing something that is graphics intensive, my display freezes and I either have to reboot my machine or sometimes the display unfreezes and I am allowed to resume my activities. I originally had graphics driver 295.73, but I upgraded to version 296.10 when it came out. I still had the same issue when I upgraded my driver so I rolled back to version 295.73. I kept bouncing back and forth between the two drivers and I even tried going into safe mode to install the drivers. Twice while I was using AutoCAD and playing a videogame, the display became distorted and showed pixelated colors.
I installed the 301.24 driver when it came out on May 22nd, but the problem occurred again while I was playing a game and while I was in AutoCAD. In the rare instances that my display froze and unfroze, I received a windows notification from the windows event log stating that my driver 295.73, 296.10, or 301.24 failed. I have performed numerous diagnostics and stress tests using Ultimate Boot CD. My memory tests have checked out fine and so have my hdd and ssd tests. The only thing that sticks out is that my southbridge temperature, my CPUTIN according to HWMonitor, is at a constant 60 degrees. It never changes or fluctuates.
