I've been having a strange issue with my computer for a while now. A strange combination of random restarts, freezing but most commonly BSOD all with different error messages. I've tried a lot even removing some RAM and changing my keyboard. I've also had it checked 4 times with still no results.
View 9 RepliesOver the past few weeks I have been getting intermittent BSOD's and pc freezes. When the pc has frozen (does not respond to any keyboard commands etc) it sort of powers up, but I get no signal to the monitors and no 'beep' as when the pc boots up properly.If I leave it for 10-15mins it will boot up again fine, but then I get BSOD's. I have had multiple errors such as SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION , BAD_POOL_CALLER, and the BSOD not giving an error as before but listing a .sys file, such as FLTMGR.SYS, TCPIP.SYS, ATAPORT.SYS, NFTS.SYS.I haven't recently installed any new hardware apart from a new 4gb of ram (2x2gb sticks) which I have had for 3 months + now. The only other hardware/software I installed recently was a Logitech webcam, and oddly the crashes did start occuring after this.I have ran memtest for multiple sweeps on each stick of ram and no issue, I have also ran chkdsk and it found no errors.The pc this morning has really been BSOD'ing like mad, so I now have it in safe mode replicating what I was doing and no BSOD as of yet.I have a minidump of the most recent BSOD (as they dont always report a BSOD when they freeze).My pc is around 3.5yrs old, is running Windows 7 64bit, has an Intel Pentium CPU E2220 2.4 ghz processor, and 8gb of DDR2 ram.

When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both. (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a consistant BSOD. At first I thought there might be a problem with the case/jumpers so I unplugged all but the main power, but still got BSOD. Then I thought it might somehow be related to SP1, so I uninstalled it, but still got BSOD. Perhaps there is a physical problem with the power supply or MOBO?

Background: Laptop decides to randomly restart from time to time while I am playing poker and using a HUD display/hand reading program, VPN, & poker software. Not a huge load on the system, somewhat HD intensive with the hand reading from the HD.
This is the related error: Source: Kernel-Power Level: Critical Event ID: 41 It's happened 51 times since 9/14/11. No error code I've turned off where it reboots on a critical error, so I can see if I can generate an error code.
I decided to do CHKDSK, fell asleep & woke to the attached BSOD.

I built my first comp last year and it was great, however now, been getting random restarts for no apparent reason. Found that it may be the HD or the PSU, switched out my PSU from a thermaltake 750w to a corsair 850w just in case, I wasn't getting enough power to my components. worked for about a day, tried feeding the power directly from wall thinking it may be the power strip, worked for a few days so I bought a new one from best buy, then a few days later it happened again.
Now I am thinking ok, now it has to be that shiny new kingston SSD!! I had a slave HD figured why not, installed Windows 7 to it, it ran fine for about 2-3 weeks, then last night BAM! instead of shooting the comp i did more research, checked the event viewer found that it is definitely a kernel 41, went to Windows site and followed a tip from them to make sure the auto restart feature was unchecked. Now I am waiting for another restart. the only thing left is the RAM.
I recently upgraded my setup with an Asus M4A78LT-M mobo, Athlon II X4 640 processor and TakeMS 2x2GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory. After installing the parts I tried to boot to Windows but it always resulted in the same BSOD so I reinstalled my system. After installing Windows for the first time I had some problems downloading updates and I got a couple of BSOD's during the update process. I then thought the installation was faulty and reinstalled it again from a different DVD. Once again I got two BSOD's during the Windows update but after all updates and drivers had been installed the problems vanished and three days pass without any problems.
Today I was watching a movie from my computer and suddenly the computer made a BSOD. I rebooted, opened Event Viewer and got a BSOD again. I ran memtest for 6 hours and it passed 5 times without errors. I had set the memory timings to 9-9-9-24 and memory voltage to 1.5 after the first BSOD's a few days back to ensure they were running at the proper settings. Apparently it didn't work. The new processor consumes 25W more than my previous E5200 so maybe my 500W power can't keep up with it sometimes?
What is happening: Periodic (typically once a night, different programs, different times) restarts. Event viewer says it is "Log: System / Source: Kernel-Power Event ID: 41. I am inexperienced at reading Minidumps, but one dump suggests "wininit.exe" and another "crss.exe", not a lot of help there. It has not always been doing this, but unfortunately started when I installed a whole slew of software (Adobe Production Premium, a Cintiq tablet, etc) so it's hard to pin that down.

Checking temperatures and voltages in CPUZ/Asus AI - defaulting / setting to auto the configurations in BIOS
I recently all but completely rebuilt my computer with a new PSU, motherboard, CPU, Case and RAM, and all was well with the world for about two months. Then just within the last week or so this has cropped up.
I'm running into an issue where my computer restarts at random. When it happens the screen will go black and then the computer will reboot and load normally. This happens both when at load, for instance running a resource intensive game, or when just watching netflix or browsing the internet. The restarts are very intermittent and can go for days without happening or will happen back to back.
I've run prime95 for over an hour with no issues, so I don't think it's the CPU. I've run furmark and kombuster tests, and there have been no issues. Neither the CPU or the GPU are anywhere near overheating at load, the CPU is at roughly 55C and the GPU around 68 to 70C during the tests rather steadily. I've also run Memtest86+ for over two hours with no errors, and run checks on both of my hard drives just for good measure to no avail. There were no errors there either. The problem has persisted through a fresh install of windows on a freshly partitioned hard drive, so it does seem likely to be hardware, and not software.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer keeps randomly restarting. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the Internet or playing games it will just happen randomly. It crashes most frequently during the boot up after the initial crash. system repair will give me a few extra minutes but it eventually crashes again. When rebooting it will turn off and on and ONE of my case fans which is connected to my motherboard will flicker on and off. i have other fans connected to the board that do not do this.

-checked CPU heat (remains 35-45 degrees Celsius even while playing games)
My computer is relatively new. It's a little over a year old Dell Vostro with Windows 7. Lately it's gotten extremely slow, restarts randomly and basically doesn't act the way it should. I've done the virus scan (I have Trend Micro). Everything looks alright but the computer is still a bit of a mess.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOver the past few days, my desktop computer has restarted twice randomly. Both times have been during times of low demand on the computer. The first time on 7/20/12 I was browsing the internet. The second was on 7/21/12 during a time when I left the computer idle on a browser for a phone call and came back to find my computer restarted with no information about windows updates or anything that I would expect to cause an automatic restart.I have not run into this problem before so I checked a few things which I thought may be a problem. First I did a virus scan because I have had a few problems with infections in the past. I ran several virus programs including malwarebytes, hitmanpro 3.6.0 (trial), microsoft security essentials, and spybot. After the first restart, I found a bootkit with hitman pro (Master Boot Record (Sector 0) in C:$MBR) which was deleted successfully according to the program.To be safe, I restarted and reran all the virus scans and found no further infection. I restarted another time in safe mode and ran them again and still found nothing else. However, the computer restarted today for a second time despite this infection being cleared. I reran the virus scans and found nothing again.Additionally, I loaded a hardware monitor program to check my computer temperatures and found them to be quite comfortable. My video card idle is running at 45C and my processor is running at 28C. I am running windows 7 64 bit which I installed from a disc on a desktop with an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T 3.20GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 470 video card.

The BSOD errors started two weeks ago when I woke my computer from sleep mode. It BSOD before it got to the login screen. Unfortunately, I didn't catch what it said. Since then, it hasn't crashed on startup again and instead I get a video scheduler BSOD whenever I play a game or video. I've tried everything from updating,uninstalling, reinstalling drivers to running tests on RAM and harddrives. Nothing has worked and the tests have come back with no errors.
So, in a last effort to solve the problem, last night I restored my system to factory settings. Now it BSOD, freezes up and shuts down randomly while running programs that where once unaffected (internet explorer for example).
I'm really hoping it's a software problem and not hardware. The system is a notebook, so the only hardware I have easy access to is the hard drive, memory, and wireless card. Everything else is buried in the casing and would require ripping the system apart to access. I would like to avoid that at all costs.
The system has Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM and the system is not even a year old. I've included the minidump and perfmon file.
I reformatted my computer multiple times, yet my computer seems to BSOD randomly.What happenes is that everything becomes unresponsive; cant alt+tab, cant ctrl+alt+del etc etc. everything freezes randomly... then boom, BSOD. its happened twice, with no apparent pattern.And then, when it restarts, it tries booting but then it goes into the boot selection screen and my SSD is nowhere to be found. Since last weeks I've had multiple BSOD's and it seems to happen mostly while I play games through steam. Games like GTA4, The witcher 2 and Sleeping dogs cause the crashes while I for some reason can play Shogun Total war 2 for hours without problems. Games that are not connected to steam, like Battlefield 3, seems to work good as well. I don't have any cd/dvd tools like Daemon tools installed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing issues with my ASUS graphics card and my Intel HD display driver. Whenever I am playing a videogame or doing something that is graphics intensive, my display freezes and I either have to reboot my machine or sometimes the display unfreezes and I am allowed to resume my activities. I originally had graphics driver 295.73, but I upgraded to version 296.10 when it came out. I still had the same issue when I upgraded my driver so I rolled back to version 295.73. I kept bouncing back and forth between the two drivers and I even tried going into safe mode to install the drivers. Twice while I was using AutoCAD and playing a videogame, the display became distorted and showed pixelated colors.
I installed the 301.24 driver when it came out on May 22nd, but the problem occurred again while I was playing a game and while I was in AutoCAD. In the rare instances that my display froze and unfroze, I received a windows notification from the windows event log stating that my driver 295.73, 296.10, or 301.24 failed. I have performed numerous diagnostics and stress tests using Ultimate Boot CD. My memory tests have checked out fine and so have my hdd and ssd tests. The only thing that sticks out is that my southbridge temperature, my CPUTIN according to HWMonitor, is at a constant 60 degrees. It never changes or fluctuates.
u have a problem with my built computer. My computer keep freezing up at random spot, most of the time at the startup. I can boot into safe mode and the recovery CD sometime if it doesn't freezes up half way. Sometime the computer would work fine for a day and next day it just go berserk.

I recently came home to my computer after a 7 month break. I had to update a lot of things like drivers, programs, etc which went very well and I believe that all of my drivers are up to date. The problem that is occurring is that occasionally my computer will freeze for about a second and then a robotic buzzing noise will play through my headphones. I am not really sure what to think of this and I've looked for quite awhile on Google. The main answer that keeps appearing is that I should clean my computer out because it may be dusty. The problem with this is that I have no idea how I would safely clean the inside of my computer.

When it restarts sometimes it has to boot a couple of times, it seems as though it can' boot the BIOS, the bios splash screen is also different, this also changed 2 days ago. The first couple of times it froze, now it just restarts randomly. I suspect the motherboard.
