I'm getting this random BSOD since 2 or 3 weeks ago. Sometimes when idle, browsing, and gaming. But sometimes I'm not getting any at all for a whole day. And I also getting this random hangs, freezes, and restarts. Can this be caused by bad hardware?
View 3 RepliesI've been having this problem for a little while now and have had a hard time pin-pointing the source.
It seems to be caused by the network card I have (look in my specs). Whenever I stream videos using ORB the computer will reset what seems to be about every 10 minutes. When I stop streaming, it stays on. Sometimes I'll leave it idle for about 6 - 8 hours, get home and notice that the mouse isn't on and the machine is just locked up. The only way to recover is to reboot.
This did this with previous releases of 7 but I thought it would be fixed in the RTM. I have the most recent drivers for my NIC.
4 days now my pc sometimes freezes at startup and it needs restart.Also suddenly it restarts without a message.And today i got 2 BSODs and one of them was at welcome screen.I scanned my pc with malwarebytes and found nothing.

For the past week, I've been getting some random BSODs, some freezes, and sometimes just a random restart. there is a flash of a pixelated screen, and then it just restarts. This computer is nigh on two years old, and has showed no sign whatsoever of slowness or any malfunction. Yet for the past week or so, it's been randomly crashing and getting restarted. Specs

I would upload the dump files, but honestly, it crashes by the time i press the copy button. i am attempting to get them using the homegroup from this computer.
I managed to pull the dump files out from the homegroup. here they are.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a consistant BSOD. At first I thought there might be a problem with the case/jumpers so I unplugged all but the main power, but still got BSOD. Then I thought it might somehow be related to SP1, so I uninstalled it, but still got BSOD. Perhaps there is a physical problem with the power supply or MOBO?

Background: Laptop decides to randomly restart from time to time while I am playing poker and using a HUD display/hand reading program, VPN, & poker software. Not a huge load on the system, somewhat HD intensive with the hand reading from the HD.
This is the related error: Source: Kernel-Power Level: Critical Event ID: 41 It's happened 51 times since 9/14/11. No error code I've turned off where it reboots on a critical error, so I can see if I can generate an error code.
I decided to do CHKDSK, fell asleep & woke to the attached BSOD.

I built my first comp last year and it was great, however now, been getting random restarts for no apparent reason. Found that it may be the HD or the PSU, switched out my PSU from a thermaltake 750w to a corsair 850w just in case, I wasn't getting enough power to my components. worked for about a day, tried feeding the power directly from wall thinking it may be the power strip, worked for a few days so I bought a new one from best buy, then a few days later it happened again.
Now I am thinking ok, now it has to be that shiny new kingston SSD!! I had a slave HD figured why not, installed Windows 7 to it, it ran fine for about 2-3 weeks, then last night BAM! instead of shooting the comp i did more research, checked the event viewer found that it is definitely a kernel 41, went to Windows site and followed a tip from them to make sure the auto restart feature was unchecked. Now I am waiting for another restart. the only thing left is the RAM.
What is happening: Periodic (typically once a night, different programs, different times) restarts. Event viewer says it is "Log: System / Source: Kernel-Power Event ID: 41. I am inexperienced at reading Minidumps, but one dump suggests "wininit.exe" and another "crss.exe", not a lot of help there. It has not always been doing this, but unfortunately started when I installed a whole slew of software (Adobe Production Premium, a Cintiq tablet, etc) so it's hard to pin that down.
What kind of machine:
Windows 7, fully updated
CP850 psu, p8p67 pro mobo (36c), i7 2600k chip (37c) at stock speed while I'm figuring this out.
4x G.Skill Ripjaw RAM, statistics in CPU-Z and RAMMon included. Passes memtest86.

Steps tried:
Uninstalling/reinstalling major programs, updating drivers
Checking minidumps for obvious file issues
Virus scan, defrag, basic upkeep stuff
Memtest for RAM
Checking temperatures and voltages in CPUZ/Asus AI - defaulting / setting to auto the configurations in BIOS
my computer has been freezing and randomly restarting the last couple of days.
When it restarts sometimes it has to boot a couple of times, it seems as though it can' boot the BIOS, the bios splash screen is also different, this also changed 2 days ago. The first couple of times it froze, now it just restarts randomly. I suspect the motherboard.

I've been having a strange issue with my computer for a while now. A strange combination of random restarts, freezing but most commonly BSOD all with different error messages. I've tried a lot even removing some RAM and changing my keyboard. I've also had it checked 4 times with still no results.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have random freezes sometimes they are glitchy and rarely bsod all on bootup or up to about half hour in (which also turns of the mouse). also Internet doesn't autoplay playlists and all sugestions next to the video are black. this started a few weeks to a month ago, first it seemed just a minor annoyance but it started to become more often the last few days. i've tried some checks but without success.
also i remember the week before those crashes that twice the screen driver crashed for a second or 2 and then a message popped up about how a monitor driver crash was adjusted, always when i played a certain game that is still in beta so i taught it was the game.
i have a laptop 3 years now, a Sony VGN-NW21SF. My laptop gives me random BSOD's and often freezes. I dont perform any special operation when these incidents occur. The Laptop may be idle when this happens. Sometimes, i leave the computer turned on, and when i come back either the system has frozen requiring a pwr_btn shutdown, or has restarted with BSOD's. I have no indication on what is causing this, only one suspicion. That my Laptop is not compatible with SSD's. I suspect this because if i remeber correct, these BSOD's and Freezes, started when i first installed an SSD. Then i changed this SSD with another one, but still the problem remained.I have thrown away two ssd's and after i purchased a third one, different brand, different capacity the problems persist... Needless two say that now i feel like an idiot blaming and throwing away two ssd's... Because it can't be 3 ssd's with the same problem..... The other obeservation is that the BSOd may not happen for more than a month, and suddenly it may happen 4 times per day...
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I just got this new Asus n53sn-xr2 laptop using windows 7, and already I'm having some problems with it. Basically what happens is it will freeze seemingly at random times (at first I thought it was firefox, but I just got it again using google chrome... I'm not sure if its related to browsing the internet or not) and the computer will, after a short period of time, become completely unresponsive. I can't even load task manager so the only way to turn of the computer is with the power button. One of the times my computer freezed I got a BSOD and it said "driver power state failure". I took a picture of it and I can provide the other information too if you need me too. I can return this computer by monday if it sounds like a hardware issue but if its not then I would much rather fix it because I've already put so much time into transferring all my files

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS n80vn laptop that is about 3 years old. It came with OEM Windows Vista, but I installed my own copy of Windows 7 Professional 64bit more than two years ago, and there was no problem upon installation.
Lately (for about a month), I have been receiving BSOD either during boot or the log-in screen. The BSOD usually happens only once per day, and I would be forced to restart my computer. No BSOD upon restart. I suspect the problem occurs when the laptop is cold. I have attached the BSOD Dump files collected over the past month.
The only driver change I've had was nVidia graphic driver updates. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the two most recent drivers and the BSOD problem still occurs.
On a side note, I have been getting random freeze-ups too, and this has been happening before the BSOD problem. These freezes occur when I'm doing regular tasks such as web browsing or typing in Word/Excel etc. When my system freezes, there is no BSOD, but nothing can be moved (keyboard + mouse won't do anything). Closing lid does nothing too. Strangely, I have not been getting this kind of freezes when I play games.

I just purchased a new build, listed below, and cannot figure out why I am getting random hard freezes. There is no blue screen of death, just hard freeze required restart. I get about 3-5 a day.

I am running low on time, as my one month for newegg returns runs out soon. I lost a week having to RMA the hard disk already, as the first one that came was DOA. I have performed furmark for 20 minutes, no failure. Memtest overnight, no failure. Seagate tools, passed test (didn't do thorough long test). Prime95 CPU small FFT for 8 hours, no problem. Prime95 CPU blend for 3 hours, no problem. I have tried reinstalling windows 7, and I have updated the BIOS.
I recently changed the cabinet of my computer and since then I've been getting freezes and BSODS, when it freezes it just gets stuck at whatever I'm doing and makes a buzzing noise through the speakers. I haven't had time to read the error codes when I get the BSODS, it reboots to fast. The freezes/BSODS appear to happen more frequently when gaming, but it also occurs when I'm just browsing. have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have tried reinstalling it but it didn't help.

I was watching a video once with headphones on and heard a loud noise then freeze.I at first thought it was just one of my hard drives dying because I had similar symptoms before I removed it. But, the fact that the crashes are happening more frequently without accessing the questionable e: has me stumped.Then I figured maybe it was the overclock I did in my bios. View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently all but completely rebuilt my computer with a new PSU, motherboard, CPU, Case and RAM, and all was well with the world for about two months. Then just within the last week or so this has cropped up.
I'm running into an issue where my computer restarts at random. When it happens the screen will go black and then the computer will reboot and load normally. This happens both when at load, for instance running a resource intensive game, or when just watching netflix or browsing the internet. The restarts are very intermittent and can go for days without happening or will happen back to back.
I've run prime95 for over an hour with no issues, so I don't think it's the CPU. I've run furmark and kombuster tests, and there have been no issues. Neither the CPU or the GPU are anywhere near overheating at load, the CPU is at roughly 55C and the GPU around 68 to 70C during the tests rather steadily. I've also run Memtest86+ for over two hours with no errors, and run checks on both of my hard drives just for good measure to no avail. There were no errors there either. The problem has persisted through a fresh install of windows on a freshly partitioned hard drive, so it does seem likely to be hardware, and not software.

My computer restarts itself straight away each time! Later on I noticed when I left the computer on while I'm sleeping the computer restarts itself sometimes too. Once a BSOD appeared. I had no other issues with all the other games, til I bought and installed Dead Space today, again the same problem! Restarts when I click Play again!
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer keeps randomly restarting. It doesn't matter if I'm browsing the Internet or playing games it will just happen randomly. It crashes most frequently during the boot up after the initial crash. system repair will give me a few extra minutes but it eventually crashes again. When rebooting it will turn off and on and ONE of my case fans which is connected to my motherboard will flicker on and off. i have other fans connected to the board that do not do this.

-Began a virus scan but computer crashed before it could finish
-checked CPU heat (remains 35-45 degrees Celsius even while playing games)
My computer is relatively new. It's a little over a year old Dell Vostro with Windows 7. Lately it's gotten extremely slow, restarts randomly and basically doesn't act the way it should. I've done the virus scan (I have Trend Micro). Everything looks alright but the computer is still a bit of a mess.

Over the past few days, my desktop computer has restarted twice randomly. Both times have been during times of low demand on the computer. The first time on 7/20/12 I was browsing the internet. The second was on 7/21/12 during a time when I left the computer idle on a browser for a phone call and came back to find my computer restarted with no information about windows updates or anything that I would expect to cause an automatic restart.I have not run into this problem before so I checked a few things which I thought may be a problem. First I did a virus scan because I have had a few problems with infections in the past. I ran several virus programs including malwarebytes, hitmanpro 3.6.0 (trial), microsoft security essentials, and spybot. After the first restart, I found a bootkit with hitman pro (Master Boot Record (Sector 0) in C:$MBR) which was deleted successfully according to the program.To be safe, I restarted and reran all the virus scans and found no further infection. I restarted another time in safe mode and ran them again and still found nothing else. However, the computer restarted today for a second time despite this infection being cleared. I reran the virus scans and found nothing again.Additionally, I loaded a hardware monitor program to check my computer temperatures and found them to be quite comfortable. My video card idle is running at 45C and my processor is running at 28C. I am running windows 7 64 bit which I installed from a disc on a desktop with an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T 3.20GHz processor, 8 GB RAM, and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 470 video card.
