I was playing Civ 5 when I got a BSOD for the first time. I've been playing Civ for a few months with no problems until now. After the BSOD I've been getting random freezes. It happens when web browsing, listening to itunes, playing civ etc.. I am using a few month old lenovo with Windows 7 Home Premium(64bit)

i have random freezes sometimes they are glitchy and rarely bsod all on bootup or up to about half hour in (which also turns of the mouse). also Internet doesn't autoplay playlists and all sugestions next to the video are black. this started a few weeks to a month ago, first it seemed just a minor annoyance but it started to become more often the last few days. i've tried some checks but without success.
also i remember the week before those crashes that twice the screen driver crashed for a second or 2 and then a message popped up about how a monitor driver crash was adjusted, always when i played a certain game that is still in beta so i taught it was the game.
The problem is that I will get a system lock up, or freeze when playing games like Portal 2 or FM2012. The freezes are very random however they occur the most when trying to play Co-op in Portal 2 (say about 80% of the time when trying to play it). However with the likes of FM2012 or other games, I can literally play for hours on end without a crash, but other times a crash could happen within about 5 mins.I also seem to randomly crash if I watch a HD video in full screen (1920x1080) however I cannot recall such a problem watching it minimized (using VLC). I also used to get random crashes while browsing the internet on certain websites, however I haven't had this issue since upgrading my RAM.
When the PC does crash, the monitor will just black out and if sound was playing at the time it will usually loop or repeat. The only thing I can do is a hard reboot and upon restarting the PC it will say about the unexpected shut down and to start windows normally however I don't seem to get any minidumps. I've had this problem now for quite awhile, and at first it was something I just overlooked as a random occurance but now its starting to drive me crazy! My system specs are as follows:[CODE]

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy system had BSOD in the past but I managed to fixed it by dusting out the computer. Since then it has been running pretty smoothly with no problem. BSOD came back several days ago and I have no idea what is causing it. This usually happen when I'm playing WOW but also when I'm sleeping, woke up in the morning and the computer restarted (wow wasn't on). I have attached the dumps and the necessary files.

I've recently just built a new rig and have experienced several BSOD's when playing BF3. I usually play Starcraft 2 and it's fine, but occasionally I'll get a BSOD or my display driver will stop working. When I'm not attempting to stream my games to twitch.tv this is pretty rare, but it still happens occasionally. Whenever I run xsplit and dxtory combined with starcraft 2 and stream, I get crashes constantly. My GPU doesn't ever really go above 53c, so I don't think that's what's causing it, but I could be wrong. My display driver stopping happens with most games that are pretty intense on the computer, but, like I said, my temps don't usually get too high. I'd love to solve whatever is causing me these problems. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been having random crashes / restarts on my computer for the entire duration that I have had my windows 7 installed, before this I used windows xp which was on the same hard drive. I thought I managed to fix the issue but it happened again today and once yesterday as well.
What happens:
-Playing random game or browsing internet
-crash for no reason (Doesn't always BSOD)
-computer restarts says windows did not shut down cleanly etc..
-start up what I was doing again
-no crash
Search and Destroy along with Malwarebytes says that I am clean along with my AVG My dump settings are properly configured to produce dump files, although when this happens I do not see one being produced
My Windows 7 computer:
- x64 bit
- not the original OS
- retail version
- What is the age of system (hardware)? - 3/4 years at most
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 1/2 years

Sometimes I get random BSOD's, it's not something that happens every day however it's getting irritating. The last time it happend was today in Counter Strike 1.6 with the "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" error. So I followed your Verifier Driver tutorial and got 2 BSOD's with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL caused by aswTdi.sys (Avast Driver).. However I just installed Avast yesterday, and as you can see in my dmp files, I have had BSODs before with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and others, so I don't think that's the main issue.Sometimes I also get BSOD while watching a movie or something with XBMC, it happens randomly, but not often.I have thought maybe it's the ATi/AMD GPU (some BSOD ref.), and I have been checking temps, it's about 60C - I have changed the thermal paste and cleaned it - but still sometimes BSOD. I have played a lot of BF3 without getting BSOD, and that's a heck a lot of more strain on the GPU than CS 1.6.

The dump file shows ntoskrnl is the driver causing the BSOD. Another dump file says ElRawDSK causes BSOD. Both offcourse are drivers.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi've been experiencing BSOD's pretty much consistently since i bought my computer a few months ago but i thought i'd fixed it a while back but turns out it just happens alot less frequently when playing certain games / idling on desktop / browsing internet.Games like counter strike source and ARMA 2 (playing the DayZ mod) seem to cause the BSODs pretty regularly (almost every 30 minutes) whereas i can play games like WoW with almost no troubles, until i try to stream that is, then its pretty random: sometimes i can stream for hours but other times it will BSOD with in 5 minutes.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a laptop 3 years now, a Sony VGN-NW21SF. My laptop gives me random BSOD's and often freezes. I dont perform any special operation when these incidents occur. The Laptop may be idle when this happens. Sometimes, i leave the computer turned on, and when i come back either the system has frozen requiring a pwr_btn shutdown, or has restarted with BSOD's. I have no indication on what is causing this, only one suspicion. That my Laptop is not compatible with SSD's. I suspect this because if i remeber correct, these BSOD's and Freezes, started when i first installed an SSD. Then i changed this SSD with another one, but still the problem remained.I have thrown away two ssd's and after i purchased a third one, different brand, different capacity the problems persist... Needless two say that now i feel like an idiot blaming and throwing away two ssd's... Because it can't be 3 ssd's with the same problem..... The other obeservation is that the BSOd may not happen for more than a month, and suddenly it may happen 4 times per day...

I would get a random black screen while playing an online game on my laptop (this happens randomly but usually 15-30mins after starting Windows and start playing the game). After the black screen appeared, it would automatically reboot to this windows error recovery page with options to go into safe mode (networking/command prompt) or just boot windows normally.I chose to boot Windows normally but after getting into Windows 7 and started playing a while, a random BSOD would appear. It has happened for 2-3 days straight. The attached is the mini dump.
Note: I did not install anything new to my laptop, I have ran chkdsk and sfc /scannow and found nothing.I have no idea what caused the black screen and the BSOD.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got a random BSOD while playing League of Legends on a new custom made gaming computer, which rapidly disappeared as the computer restarted. I selected to restore (as recommended) and got the same screen but it stayed. The only information provided is an error code of 0x000000F7...I attempted to start the computer in safe mode however I still got the same BSOD.Now the computer refuses to even start with no signal output to the screen. I also tried disconnecting all usb devices (mouse, usb wifi adaptor) due to the type of error but with no success. After a long time being off (I was out helping a family member out) I came back and tried once again and it logged on fine. I proceeded to run the windows update and before I could look at the drivers and error log I got the BSOD again. Now its back to no signal/startup.

I get BSOD sometimes when playing Battlefield 3, sometimes I don't get it. I also get BSOD when transferring large files from external hard drives or from my internal network.
I've been having issues with my computer for a while now, it crashes at unpredictable times. I believe the crashes started about the same time I installed my current video card.

The problem is that I get BSOD's and I can't find a reason. Sometimes it happens right after windows starts, most times I'm gaming and others it seems just random.
So I just got this new Asus n53sn-xr2 laptop using windows 7, and already I'm having some problems with it. Basically what happens is it will freeze seemingly at random times (at first I thought it was firefox, but I just got it again using google chrome... I'm not sure if its related to browsing the internet or not) and the computer will, after a short period of time, become completely unresponsive. I can't even load task manager so the only way to turn of the computer is with the power button. One of the times my computer freezed I got a BSOD and it said "driver power state failure". I took a picture of it and I can provide the other information too if you need me too. I can return this computer by monday if it sounds like a hardware issue but if its not then I would much rather fix it because I've already put so much time into transferring all my files
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS n80vn laptop that is about 3 years old. It came with OEM Windows Vista, but I installed my own copy of Windows 7 Professional 64bit more than two years ago, and there was no problem upon installation.
Lately (for about a month), I have been receiving BSOD either during boot or the log-in screen. The BSOD usually happens only once per day, and I would be forced to restart my computer. No BSOD upon restart. I suspect the problem occurs when the laptop is cold. I have attached the BSOD Dump files collected over the past month.
The only driver change I've had was nVidia graphic driver updates. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the two most recent drivers and the BSOD problem still occurs.
On a side note, I have been getting random freeze-ups too, and this has been happening before the BSOD problem. These freezes occur when I'm doing regular tasks such as web browsing or typing in Word/Excel etc. When my system freezes, there is no BSOD, but nothing can be moved (keyboard + mouse won't do anything). Closing lid does nothing too. Strangely, I have not been getting this kind of freezes when I play games.

I am running low on time, as my one month for newegg returns runs out soon. I lost a week having to RMA the hard disk already, as the first one that came was DOA. I have performed furmark for 20 minutes, no failure. Memtest overnight, no failure. Seagate tools, passed test (didn't do thorough long test). Prime95 CPU small FFT for 8 hours, no problem. Prime95 CPU blend for 3 hours, no problem. I have tried reinstalling windows 7, and I have updated the BIOS.
I recently changed the cabinet of my computer and since then I've been getting freezes and BSODS, when it freezes it just gets stuck at whatever I'm doing and makes a buzzing noise through the speakers. I haven't had time to read the error codes when I get the BSODS, it reboots to fast. The freezes/BSODS appear to happen more frequently when gaming, but it also occurs when I'm just browsing. have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and have tried reinstalling it but it didn't help.
