Random Freezes / System Lock Ups When Playing Games Or Watching Videos?
May 3, 2012
The problem is that I will get a system lock up, or freeze when playing games like Portal 2 or FM2012. The freezes are very random however they occur the most when trying to play Co-op in Portal 2 (say about 80% of the time when trying to play it). However with the likes of FM2012 or other games, I can literally play for hours on end without a crash, but other times a crash could happen within about 5 mins.I also seem to randomly crash if I watch a HD video in full screen (1920x1080) however I cannot recall such a problem watching it minimized (using VLC). I also used to get random crashes while browsing the internet on certain websites, however I haven't had this issue since upgrading my RAM.
When the PC does crash, the monitor will just black out and if sound was playing at the time it will usually loop or repeat. The only thing I can do is a hard reboot and upon restarting the PC it will say about the unexpected shut down and to start windows normally however I don't seem to get any minidumps. I've had this problem now for quite awhile, and at first it was something I just overlooked as a random occurance but now its starting to drive me crazy! My system specs are as follows:[CODE]
Whenever I go to a webpage and try to play games, view videos, or streaming content my system "freezes" every minute or two. I can never watch a video or play a game in its entirety without having to sit through numerous "freezes", or whatever it is. The little spinning icon just keeps going round and round.
my laptop started crashing every time i play games and watch videos on player.
Code: Windows 7 Ultimate x32 OEM I reformatted it a month ago so i thought it would be fix but its still not fixed... I also thought it would be the heat or the usage of memory but i still haven't found what the problem is i keep getting random BSOD's about usbport.sys and other but i get more error codes....
basically my old 6870 card died because of numerous BSODs it had over the 6 months throunh flash videos and it killed it with artifacts. I have recently received a brand new XFX 6870 and have been using it over a month and its been happening again with flash videos as occasionally get BSOD randomly like 30 mins or even over an hour. which is pointing out Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR file path: C:Windowssystem32driversatikmpag.sys
and
Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR file path: C:Windowssystem32driversdxgkrnl.sys its even happened once last night on a game FIFA 12 which restarted and had this error Error: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL file path: C:Windowssystem32 toskrnl.exe
How will I be able to eliminate these problems? my system specs are below and I have built this system over 8 months and nothing is overclocked.
Just installed Windows 7. and everytime i start up a game (like left 4 dead)
all screens go black(like when they do when you set a other resolution) and back to normal resolution. when game resolution isn't different from the desktop resolution. and cause i ussually have a series running on one of my other monitors i can't see them cause well desktop thinks it not on its desktop resolution(or for what ever other reason it is that video won't show on second monitor if there is a game up on your main monitor that is not on ur normal desktop resolution).
this doesn't happen with every game though and can't really figure it out. if u need any info, or have no idea what i'm talking about(don't really know how to explain this very wel) post for more details.
I upgraded my graphics card driver 2-3 days ago with no problems until today when my laptop crashed couple of times when I was playing LeagueOfLegends, and again when playing a video (using VLC). When I disable my graphics card driver all is fine, but when I play a game with the graphics card enabled I get a blue screen.
While playing a game, or watching a video on a website or a player it freezes and gives me the BSOD and oh, I did not find the "save as" in "file" in the preformance monitor Attachment 208535,as for the other requested file, here it is: Attachment 208536.
someone can shed some light on my bsod video problem. This happens randomly while watching movies on xfinity.com on Firefox 15, and more recently while watching one on WMP. If there is any other information that you need, I will happily oblige.
for approximately 3 months my pc acts in a weird manner. whenever i watch an online video stream or in Internet after some time it freezes with a weird noise and i have to restart it. i have the latest drivers for my graphic's cardproccessor : i5 750 2,67ghzam : 8 gbgpu : amd radeon hd 6670motherboard : msi p55-cd53operating system : windows 7 ultimate 64bithard disks : ocz agility3 x2 and two sata ones
i am having the famous bsod when watching video, using mpc for local and flash (Internet) for online after an hour or so from when i start watching. i noticed that the crash happens more often when i use often the seek-bar and jump to various points of the movie. codecs dont think are the problem for they are regularly updated. this crash sometimes happen when i am playing games an hour or so after the start.
I haven't noticed a exact pattern yet, it happens most when watching videos and movies, or when playing games. But it has happened at other random times.

Basic Info: Windows 7 home premium 64bit Original OS is the same. Laptop is ASUS K52F I've had this laptop for 13 months, OS is same.
I've recently had quite a few system crashes on my desktop. After I got the first one, they have been rather frequent, 1-5 times per day, usually when watching videos. I have tried reinstalling windows, flashing bios, updating misc drivers, ran CHKDSK on both my os ssd and storage hhd, but in vain.

I have no other components connected to the computer. I have attached a zip including 6 minidumps.
I have a Packard Bell iextreme with windows 7 and when I play videos it sometimes freezes, the speakers buzz and the monitor switches off. I have to force shut down. The problem comes and goes, only when playing videos, started recently. Tried updating flash, untick enable hardware acceleration, windows updates, ... still happens.

Ever since I got this computer (Dell XPS) about 3 years ago it has had problems with freezing but recently it has become much more frequent. It mainly happens when watching a movie or long video but has started happening any time, even when the computer is in sleep mode.
I have a asus netbook with a windows 7 starter OS. It frequently freezes ( no response at all, Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing.) Not many BSODs but I have included the information for a BSOD post anyway.I usually force it to restart by holding down the power button. It happens mostly when I am watching some video, whether online or on vlc. - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?32 Is the original installed OS on the system?Yes - an OEM or full retail version?OEM - What is the age of system (hardware)?about a year and 3 months - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) I haven't re-installed the OS.
Alright so a couple months ago my computer crashed and I was told it was a hard drive problem. So I got a new hard drive and installed it myself reinstalling windows and everything else. After a bout a week my computer would randomly shut off the screens image would become jumbled with dark lines running horizontally across and then it would either shut off or give me the BSOD. The BSOD flashes fast so I can't write down any information from it. This has happened repeatedly for about 3 months since every couple days. Usually I leave my laptop alone for about 15 min and then I can start it up again. The problem seems to happen mostly when i watch videos or go on sites with a lot of media going on. I think I've installed all the drivers i need to. I'm hoping it is not a hardware problem because i just bought this hard drive. I never had this problem before when i had the old hard drive. If any one could give me some help that would be awesome. I also ran check disk and it came up with nothing. My laptop is an HP G72 Notebook running windows 7. Hard drive is a western digital 250 gb.
this BSOD problem has been getting worse and worse , i dont know if its a virus or not ive used multiple different anti virus and malware programs and they come up with nothing . Well basically whenever im playing my games my entire OS crashes at random times and the other times it will go straight to the BSOD and memory dump , ive loaded the DMP files on the attachments just the three latest DMP files from my crashes
i'm putting up my first post with my bsod error i get. i've gotten some in the past, but i decided to learn how to figure these things out this time.details:i usually get a bsod in a random situation either playing online games or just watching live streams (twitch.tv) or even Internet videos on occasion.
My desktop keeps stuttering every few minutes or so. I have all of the drivers up to date and I cannot figure out what is wrong. The problem occurs the most while watching Netflix and playing games, but happens pretty regularly in general.

OK so about 1-2 months ago I got a New CPU and RAM (RMA cuz old ones caused BSOD) so now I em noticing that I get random freezes when I restart (forced to manually shut down) and when I'm downloading this 1 file from 1 website it gets to 99% the my pc Freezes. (this is the site apache friends - xampp for windows only happens when I try to download the .zip file 1) and I was looking at my CPU and Memory etc. in CPUz and noticed a odd thing about my Ram the 2 sticks are running at to different frequency and that it isn't in dual channel mode?
First time building my own computer, i7 2011 Chipset, 12GB RAM and a Zotac 560 ti GPU. I can watch videos but 8/10 times it will freeze part way through playing and then I have to reset it, Graphics drivers are up to date I can't think of anything else.
So I have an HP Pavilion dv6z notebook running 64 bit Windows 7, it originally came with Vista pre-installed but I received an upgrade disc when 7 came out, that I have for about 3 years now. It was running great until about August or September last year when I would occasionally get a blue screen when playing Fallout New Vegas, which I had been playing on and off since Christmas 2010. This happened once every couple of weeks. Since then slowly more programs things have been tripping the blue screen and the frequency has increased. Now a number of games, though mostly newer 3d games and minecraft, have been setting it off. Then I started having it also occasionally blue screen when using a web browser or watching a video file.
The notebook is a HP Pavilion dv6z (s/n: CNF9351VRX, p/n: NT594AV), with an AMD Turion x2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-75 cpu, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 graphics card, an Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter, a 300 gig hard drive, 4 gigs of ram, and a blu-ray drive. I don't know what the motherboard or sound cards are. It is not being overclocked, I dont even know how to overclock things even if I wanted to. Also it is not a RAID drive as it only has one drive.
I have reset to factory settings in December, though that was due to a virus creeping in and ravaging windows, so reinstalled 7 and it now has a cleaner version on, but the problem persists. I've driver swept and reinstalled me drivers with no luck. I have also virus, spyware, trojan, and malware scanned finding nothing. I've torture tested the CPU and it passed with flying colors. I stress tested the memory with much the same result. I replaced the hard drive thinking it could be an issue, and no go there. Then figuring it was a thermal issue I got a friend and we ripped the notebook open and replaced the thermal paste. The fan seems fine and since doing it on the whole it has run quite a bit cooler since the CPU paste was pretty stiff. That seemed to work for about two to three weeks and bam again another blue screen, which is always the same regarding hal.dll and ntoskrnl.exe. I know it is a 0x124 error and as such different to diagnose the issue since it is likely hardware related but I dont know what else to try to test figure out the problem.
Win 7 64 bitIntel I5 750@2.674 x 2gb ramgigabyte mbnvidia geforce gts 250 videoJust like in this posters video Windows 7 freezing when playingaudio/videoStart to watch videos on web sites and after a bit, 30-60 seconds, the computer freezes and just a buzz from the speakers. Nothing works except the reset button.when the computer restarts it shows the windows was shut down improperlyhow do you want to restart, normal, safe mode, safe mode with networking
I built a PC the middle of last year, and ever since I've been having freezing problems. Either when I'm watching a video, or playing a game at random times my PC will completely freeze, forcing me to reboot. I've found (testing different RAM, scanning for viruses, updating the bios/video card drivers, etc.) and so far nothing has worked. Here are my specs:
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz Video Card: HIS Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 900W RAM: 16GB
I also have a pretty big case [URL] with two large fans. At first I thought the card might be overheating, but even under a heavy load the highest temp it ever reached was 81 degrees (and that was only once while rendering an effects heavy video). I don't necessarily want to reinstall windows 7, but I'll try that too if I have to.
Now the unusual part is the manner in which it freezes, any audio sounds in the game will simply not load over, nor will any graphics that havent already been loaded up prior to where the freezing is about to occur, then about 10 or 15 seconds later it will just hard freeze, causing me to reboot. Another interesting thing i should add is i was still able to talk to a friend over Skype for a bit after it froze. My GFX Card is not over heating as i keep track of it regularly with CPUID Hardware Monitor. There is nothing in my event viewer to pinpoint if its a software related issue or not.
I should mention that my PC is a Dell. I have had a problem like this about 3 months ago and they sent me a new motherboard, which seems to have solved the problem for awhile, however the issue started to reoccur again. My theory is that this motherboard is starting to fail as well, or i need to replace the Graphics Card. Is there any other way that the cause could be pinpointed for sure?
My video card is a Radeon HD 5870 and my motherboard is a Dell Inc. 0X501H attached is a W7F.zip of my system incase it is needed (It was asked of me last time)
i getting random BSOD while playing games , they don't usually happen but sometimes it happens after like 15 minutes of play most of them happen while playing battlefield 3 i included my mem dumb also here's a screen grab from a bsod checker program [URL]
