I've been having this issue since I installed Windows 7 x64 RC, basically any time I view a web video my computer is liable to freeze up completely, with the sound producing awful static, needing a hard reset.
I've tried all browsers and it makes no difference. I've tried a variety of solutions others have posted about frozen computers =I've tried reinstalling browsers and flash. I've tried updating GPU drivers, downgrading GPU drivers. I've tried the windows lan driver, I've tried my manufacturers windows 7 driver. None of it makes any difference. I can otherwise browse and download fine. I can play games fine and I ran a stress test and it found no issues with the CPU/RAM.
And the damnedest thing is, I can go to one of those flash game sites and boot up 20 games and my computer doesn't even slow down, let alone freeze. I'm at a loss here, I can't single any component out, not even flash itself.
my specs: emachines notebook intel core i3 cpu 2gb ram windows 7 64 bit browsers installed ie8, firefox 4 and chrome avg free edition installed shockwave flash 10.3.181.4 installed for ff graphics driver intel hd graphics driver version 8.15.10.2119 i'm accessing the internet through wireless internet i have been having a problem where playing flash video has crashed all the browsers i have installed. this issue has happened on multiple websites including Internet and bbc iplayer. it started happening out of the blue on 25th may 2011. there doesn't appear to be any microsoft updates added at that time and i did not install any new software on that day.
in firefox the issue happens 100% of the time. after watching for a few minutes the video starts to buffer and then the browser completely freezes up before the frame greys out and the option to send crash report appears. when i reload the page the same thing happens again. sometimes the audio will start to repeat itself with a delay of a few seconds before crashing.
in chrome, the same thing happens except the built in plug in becomes unresponsive and the browser then freezes and reports the error. ie crashes too although i hardly ever use it to be honest.
the things i have tried to fix this so far (without success) have been: manually uninstall all adobe products uninstall all browsers delete folders and reg entries for flash and delete folders for browsers reinstall software and flash run malwarebytes (no warnings or bad files). run a registry cleaner. nothing reported that seemed to be relevant to flash or media playback. uninstall flash revert back to flash 10.2 (i actually noticed a slight improvement when using 10.2 but cannot access embedded video in facebook etc so wasn't a viable option for me). disable avg and try playback unistall avg and try playback uninstall avg and windows firewall and try playback check for new video driver updated (there were none) untick enable hardware acceleration allow flash to store content in global settings i have not done a system restore and do not really want to do that if possible.
the only other thing i have noticed is that it has been difficult to install exe files from the web since this issue started (when trying to reinstall browsers etc). windows was corrupting the installers for chrome and firefox as well as the malware bytes.
i go to bbc.co.uk/iplayer, i click on something i want to watch i get there and the page appears but with no pre-video image or play button.i have just down graded from windows 7 64bit to windows 7 32bit as i thought this may have been the problem, due to flash 64bit problems. so i have a fresh install of windows 7.i have tried quite a few things, please see the list below:1. both firefox, chrome, ie 9 & ie 10. all with no flash or java installed, i know this is not right, but something interesting happened. the website did exactly the same thing as before, there was nothing telling me on the bbc website that flash was needed and go here to download it.2. installed different versions of flash and java, and in combinations of old & old, old & new, new & old, new & new.3. i have tried older versions of browers, this made no difference.4. my wifes computer does the same thing with firefox and chrome, but ie 9 does work correctly. we copied all settings from internet options, ie 9's settings from her's to mine. still nothing.
5. i have tried clearing cashe, nothing changed.6. i have removed flash and java. then just installed google chrome, as this has flash built in. i then tried bbc iplayer and still nothing. i then install java, again nothing.7. there have been other website as well as bbc iplayer, that are not working.these problems happen in all browsers on my computer and on all browsers except ie9 on my wifes computer.my system:amd athlon ii x4 635 2.90ghzgeforce 8800gs4gb ramrunning windows 7 32bitmy wifes system:amd athlon 64 x2 dualcore 6000+ati radeon 64504bg ramrunning windows 7 64bithowever our sony vaio plays all video types on all browers, running windows 7 32bit.Internet runs fine on my computer. when i check flash version on adobe site the flash created box appears telling me my version. it seems odd that some types of flash run whilst others do not. when they're not working, there is no error message, just an empty box where the flash item should be.
I turn on my computer and it will take me to the log in screen but the mouse is stuck in the middle of the screen and my keypad wont work. So I can't log in and get to my desktop. I've turned my computer off and retried several times. It was doing this yesterday too. I've tried restarting it in all the different types of safe modes, and still nothing.
I recently upgraded my computer ( which is working fine ) and some of my old computer parts would now belong to my brother. When assembling my brothers computer I didn't remove the cpu or RAM once. The only things that were switched from my computer to his were graphics card, PSU, HDD and CD-DVD Driver. Now when starting my brothers computer, it will recognize the cpu and the amount of ram, but after that it stops. It still is answering because if I press DEL or f11, I will acess either bios or boot menu. After that it tells me that the HDD hasn't been recognized. Another weird thing is that it only shows the bios startup screen if the CD-DVD reader is connected, otherwise the computer will start but it will remain full black screen.
I have a windows 7 advent laptop. When I turn my laptop on, it works and comes up with the option either to "launch startup repair" or "start windows normally". Whichever one I select, the same thing happens. It goes to the blue screen as normal where I would select my user but that option doesn't come up. It's just the blue screen. I have tried rebooting it, and waiting for it to load for over 10minutes but it doesn't change from that screen. The cursor still works but no keys work on it and there is nothing to click.
I turned on my computer today and it stayed frozen at the starting windows screen for. Long time, but it would not move on. Then it jumped back and started booting the computer again but hung at the same spot. I tried starting my computer in safe mode, but it won't boot into safe mode either. I can not do any of the system recovery options. Also by BIOS has a password on it and I have no clue what it is, So I can't not access my BIOS.
Computer frozen on restore systems after power outage. I cannot use disc 2 reboot - all keyboard actions frozen. All I want to know is - would I have lost what's on my hard drive and how to be able 2 get it running again.
I have a PC with an AMD Athalon II x2 255 processor 3.11 GHZ, 4 gb of ram, ATI Radeon HD 5670 Graphics card running on windows 7 32 bit OS.Every time I startup the computer; whenever i try to do anything (access files or the Internet) it runs very slow and then eventually just freezes with the little blue circle just spinning around. Sometimes a browser window will open and I can access a page or a folder will open, but then it will eventually just run so slow it is practically frozen (with little blue circle still spinning).I think it might be linked to my wireless Internet, the little Internet icon in the bottom right hand task bar is just stuck searching for a signal every time i start up (even if I wait 10 minutes).I am using my laptop right next to the computer and it is picking up the wireless single fine.
My acer aspire 5472Z won't open windows. I keep getting a message that says "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click ok to restart". The thing is I have had windows 7 for two years installed and I click restart or ok I keep getting the same message. When I go into F2 it says HDD Password Frozen I don't have a password. When I turn it off and turn back on and go to F2 it says HDD Password Clear.
Computer is frozen, black screen with movable mouse after splash logo. Same happens in safe mode. The log in screen never shows up. The computer sounds like its loading at that point, but nothing ever comes up. I can get into ubuntu. This happened after updating my graphics card nvidia. I have dual monitors. Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, HP Pavilion p6107c Desktop.
I just installed a 2nd video card & windows isnt seeing it or the other two monitors that are plugged into it?I went to Screen Resolution>Detect & it isnt see it?And I started the computer up from shutdown with the graphics card fully installed with both monitors plugged into it.
I am a recent resident at an assisted living facility. Because I have some experience with PC's I was asked to maintain the facility resident computer, a PC with Windows 7.The computer is in the back of the media room, a 50 inch TV is in the front of the room. Also in the front is a modem and router. The computer is wireless and gets on the internet wirelessly through the router. The room is about 45 feet long.I would like to play video from the computer to the TV.
I have an advent laptop with windows 7. When I turn it on, it starts up as usual and then goes to the advent screen and then another screen which gives me the option to either "Launch startup repair (recommended)" or "Start windows normally". Whichever one I select, the same thing happens. It comes up with the normal login screen but not with the user picture or name, just the blue background. I have tried rebooting and waiting for over 15 minutes but it won't change from that blue screen. The mouse still works but there is nothing to click on. I have also tried pressing F8 at the advent screen but none of the safe mode options etc. work.
I have a ACER aspire REVO loaded with the latest WIN 7 and updated drivers. It freezes randomdly when watching internet video from any source (all the way from Netflix, to you tube or private sites). When freezed it doies not respond to anything! Monitoring shows CPU with zero activity. Sometimes I can only move the mouse, but it does not respond to any click. I freezes anywhere from a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes (while having crazy sound) but then it continues running normally, excuting the clicks done while frozen. It happens very often. It does not happend when playing video fron hard drive, nor whith any other situation; only when playing streaming video. Video is well buffered.
i use corel videostudio pro x3 video editing program on this windows 7 samsung laptop. i've enjoyed the program to edit video clips and haven't had any problems - until now. once i edit a clip, i convert it from a vsd (i believe) file to something Internet can read, like mpeg-4 (hd). it begins rendering, and once it gets to about 5% my computer inexplicably shuts down. it's done it three times in a row now. i can't even use this expensive program if i can't convert the file.
"The big ?""Why does my computer freeze and makes a ugly sound how can I fix it"This is how------- use a program to update your video driver (driver genie) windows update gives you a bad update that makes your video card error out and freezes your pc.or you can roll back your driver to the last known working driver
I recorded a video on my HTC EVO & it will not play nor has ever played. It says sorry this video cannot be played on the phone & on my computer it will not play either. I use VLC to playback on the computer. I have used handbrake and vlc to try in convert it but with out success. I am desperate to have this video play. These are the error messages when trying to play on VLC;
main error: ES_OUT_SET_(GROUP_)PCR is called too late (jitter of 17382 ms ignored) main error: ES_OUT_RESET_PCR called main error: ES_OUT_SET_(GROUP_)PCR is called too late (pts_delay increased to 5135 ms)
So my computer started freezing randomly during video playback and just gets stuck with the sound also looping at a millisecond interval... Anyway I can repeat this error if I play any video full screen for a long enough time period. I did some research on this problem and found that it could be the RAM OR PSU... I used memTEST see if it could possibly be my RAM, But unfortunately do not know how to interpret the errors it gives out correctly, the results are attached. Someone please tell me what I should do if my results read as errors or not.
This is a problem that has only been occurring over the last month or 2 (had my computer for 2/3years). Quite often I will watch something on my computer when i go to bed - either a dvd, or streaming something from a website. Sometimes i fall asleep whilst these programmes are still playing and i will wake up in the morning to find my computer and monitor still turned on, instead of doing what they should do - monitor to turn off after 20minutes, computer to sleep after 45minutes.The computer will go to sleep after the desired time if its not doing anything at all so i assume it has something to do with the media settings/files. I have a custom plans setting for power options and in advanced settings > multimedia, it IS set to 'allow the computer to sleep when sharing media, so im not sure what else to try.As an additional note, this is something ive started to notice but im not so sure how relevant it is:The odd thing is, it seems to vary when it decides it wants to sleep. I was playing things through windows media player and it wouldnt sleep after 45minutes.. so i tried playing things through vlc media player instead. That seemed to work as the computer would go to sleep, so i figured it was just the programme causing the problem, but then after a few days of using vlc the computer wouldnt sleep anymore. The same goes for streaming stuff - using megavideo the computer wouldnt sleep, but when it was streamed from videobb it would. Then after a few days of using videobb it would stop going to sleep again...
I just got a new desktop computer, and I downloaded windows 7 64 bit home premium. when the download completed and it restarted a screen popped up asking for country/date/time, and now the computer is frozen. Is it okay to restart right now? They said not to restart during the setup process at the very beginning, but i don't know what to do, it's been like this for 15minutes. And i believe all the setup is done, once it restarted it just went straight to asking me about the time.
oh, and also i used custom installation becauuse the express one wouldn't work, saying i couldn't switch from 32 bit to 64 bit. dunno if this is relevant, but just thought i'd say.
My HP laptop decided whilst on amazon to just freeze. I closed it down and restarted it and the laptop will let me move the cursor to type in my password but once its on the desktop that is where it stays. I have tried moving the battery and starting it up, also tried the fn button but nothing. I operate on windows 7.
ust upgraded from windows vista.my problem started yesterday, when windows at startup it just goes black but i can see the cursor. it freeze there for so long that i have to restart again, even in safe mode is all black with the cursor. this what i have done before that, updated some windows updates. then it begun doing the black screen
My wife is running a Toshiba T110-11U and this is now frozen at update 10 of 15 from the latest batch of patch Tuesday updates. OS is w7 64 bit home premium. Has been trying to install this update for more than 8 hours!
First off: I'm running Windows 7 on a BRAND NEW Lenovo W530
The taskbar appears to be permanently frozen. (When I place the cursor over it, I get the blue circle). I cannot open anything through the taskbar. Nothing happens when I click. In addition there are two batteries displayed on the right hand side. One is blinking, and the other is blank. (I would show a screen capture but I don't know how without accessing the start menu).
I've tried restarting (several times) I've tried updating and running my norton. This doesn't work, and it shows that my computer is healthy.
I've tried running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware I've run the hardware diagnostic tests, and nothing is wrong.
Also it seems that too many processes are running for a brand new computer with very little additional software installed.
I play DOTA and everything was good 2 days that is when i played it last time.So now i have this problem with the gamma setings with this game.I cant make it to be brighter.I try to change the video settings in the game but wheter i put to the brightest point or the darkest it is always returning and t is dark.If i start the game afetr 2 sec, after startting the screen blinks and it is darker, and i cant change that.Or if the game is running and i press alt+taband then return to the game 2 sec it is good and after the game is darker.I cant understand two days ago everything was fine and smooth.
