Flash Video Crashes On Multiple Browsers
May 31, 2011
my specs: emachines notebook intel core i3 cpu 2gb ram windows 7 64 bit browsers installed ie8, firefox 4 and chrome avg free edition installed shockwave flash 10.3.181.4 installed for ff graphics driver intel hd graphics driver version 8.15.10.2119 i'm accessing the internet through wireless internet i have been having a problem where playing flash video has crashed all the browsers i have installed. this issue has happened on multiple websites including Internet and bbc iplayer. it started happening out of the blue on 25th may 2011. there doesn't appear to be any microsoft updates added at that time and i did not install any new software on that day.
in firefox the issue happens 100% of the time. after watching for a few minutes the video starts to buffer and then the browser completely freezes up before the frame greys out and the option to send crash report appears. when i reload the page the same thing happens again. sometimes the audio will start to repeat itself with a delay of a few seconds before crashing.
in chrome, the same thing happens except the built in plug in becomes unresponsive and the browser then freezes and reports the error. ie crashes too although i hardly ever use it to be honest.
the things i have tried to fix this so far (without success) have been: manually uninstall all adobe products uninstall all browsers delete folders and reg entries for flash and delete folders for browsers reinstall software and flash run malwarebytes (no warnings or bad files). run a registry cleaner. nothing reported that seemed to be relevant to flash or media playback. uninstall flash revert back to flash 10.2 (i actually noticed a slight improvement when using 10.2 but cannot access embedded video in facebook etc so wasn't a viable option for me). disable avg and try playback unistall avg and try playback uninstall avg and windows firewall and try playback check for new video driver updated (there were none) untick enable hardware acceleration allow flash to store content in global settings i have not done a system restore and do not really want to do that if possible.
the only other thing i have noticed is that it has been difficult to install exe files from the web since this issue started (when trying to reinstall browsers etc). windows was corrupting the installers for chrome and firefox as well as the malware bytes.

i go to bbc.co.uk/iplayer, i click on something i want to watch i get there and the page appears but with no pre-video image or play button.i have just down graded from windows 7 64bit to windows 7 32bit as i thought this may have been the problem, due to flash 64bit problems. so i have a fresh install of windows 7.i have tried quite a few things, please see the list below:1. both firefox, chrome, ie 9 & ie 10. all with no flash or java installed, i know this is not right, but something interesting happened. the website did exactly the same thing as before, there was nothing telling me on the bbc website that flash was needed and go here to download it.2. installed different versions of flash and java, and in combinations of old & old, old & new, new & old, new & new.3. i have tried older versions of browers, this made no difference.4. my wifes computer does the same thing with firefox and chrome, but ie 9 does work correctly. we copied all settings from internet options, ie 9's settings from her's to mine. still nothing.
5. i have tried clearing cashe, nothing changed.6. i have removed flash and java. then just installed google chrome, as this has flash built in. i then tried bbc iplayer and still nothing. i then install java, again nothing.7. there have been other website as well as bbc iplayer, that are not working.these problems happen in all browsers on my computer and on all browsers except ie9 on my wifes computer.my system:amd athlon ii x4 635 2.90ghzgeforce 8800gs4gb ramrunning windows 7 32bitmy wifes system:amd athlon 64 x2 dualcore 6000+ati radeon 64504bg ramrunning windows 7 64bithowever our sony vaio plays all video types on all browers, running windows 7 32bit.Internet runs fine on my computer. when i check flash version on adobe site the flash created box appears telling me my version. it seems odd that some types of flash run whilst others do not. when they're not working, there is no error message, just an empty box where the flash item should be.

My wife just bought a new DELL Inspiron N4050 laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. Connecting via our home wifi we get intermittent errors -101 ERR_CONNECTION_RESET in Chrome and Firefox. It is not site specific and sometimes a site will work, then it wont.We have 3 other computers on the same connection and have tested the same sites at the same time the error is occurring and the sites are fine on other computers, I have not seen this error in the 12 months we've had this network set up until we got the new laptop.

I have been in IT for 10+ years and have done desktop/server support, programming, DBA, etc. I have come across an issue on my personal laptop that has stumped me. This started recently in the past month. It was around the time, I did a few windows updates and a FF update. So I have been unable to pinpoint what caused it. All of my browsers started to freeze upon loading a new page (even non flash webpages, ie google.com) They would freeze for 5-10 minutes. I noticed if I disabled the flash plugin in FF, then FF acted normally. I uninstalled the flash activex module, and IE started to work properly again as well. I did a lot of testing by removing flash and all of my adobe components (CS4) and acrobat. Anything flash related I removed completely, I then used a tool provided by adobe to remove any leftover remnants of adobe (registry entries, folders, etc). I tried many different versions of FF, Opera, Safari and Chrome and many different versions of the flash player (9-current). They all acted the same with flash installed, if I uninstalled flash, all the browsers worked perfectly fine.

If I have multiple Firefox browsers open that are not in full screen mode, once clicked on, that screen disappears before I can reach it with my pointer. This happen with all pinned icons that are not in full screen mode or a small notification box.Someone mentioned that Lenovo maybe had an update that messed with the settings.

I've been having this issue since I installed Windows 7 x64 RC, basically any time I view a web video my computer is liable to freeze up completely, with the sound producing awful static, needing a hard reset.
I've tried all browsers and it makes no difference. I've tried a variety of solutions others have posted about frozen computers =I've tried reinstalling browsers and flash. I've tried updating GPU drivers, downgrading GPU drivers. I've tried the windows lan driver, I've tried my manufacturers windows 7 driver. None of it makes any difference. I can otherwise browse and download fine. I can play games fine and I ran a stress test and it found no issues with the CPU/RAM.
And the damnedest thing is, I can go to one of those flash game sites and boot up 20 games and my computer doesn't even slow down, let alone freeze. I'm at a loss here, I can't single any component out, not even flash itself.

I recently build a new computer and installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit but I'm experiencing a range of problems.Almost all programs or utilities I download or attempt to install from CD fail giving me an error similar to the download package is corrupt.Windows Updates almost always fail, often giving me a BSOD. I have to install one update at a time and restart before attempting the next (and still most require half a dozen attempt to install)My computer restarts by itself every now and again and Windows gives me an error message (Windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down) This can happen within minutes or hours of the system being on.Internet Explorer and Firefox often crash and I can only get them working by rebooting.I have tried the following:
-Reinstalling Windows three times (twice on my SSD once on a HDD)
-Fitting different RAM and running MEM Check (which passed)
-Overclocking and stressing my CPU (which held-up)
-Installing latest drivers for MB, and VGA
-Removing the SSD
-Installing a new power supply.
-Using a select start-up with MSCONFIG
None of which worked. My CPU runs between 30 - 36C and system average is 23C so it's not an over heating issue.I don't know a massive amount about computers but I have tried everything I could think off.

i been having a problem with seemingly random bsods and crashes (ie where the computer forcibly restarts without generating a dump file). i think the crashes happens more frequently when surfing the internet, especially while watching Internet videos, but that might be a wrongful perception on my part.

I built a computer back in May...a few weeks later I started getting BSODs. They don't happen all too often, about 1 or 2 times per week. After trying to google the issue, they suggested running memtest - no errors, driver verifier found nothing, etc. So I re-installed windows, the same thing happened, I re-installed windows again, still get a blue screen every once in awhile. Then I noticed my power supply started making a humming noise, I ignored it, then one day it sparked and died. I thought that was the cause of all my issues until I replaced it with a temporary one and a few days later got another blue screen. It's always either ntoskrnl.exe or hal.dll, I didn't keep all the crash dumps from my previous installs.

I have had multiple issues with this box from day one, but i was positive i could fix this. After installing Win7Ult SP X64 from my MSDN account I have had numerous BSOD's that come from mainly ntoskrnl.exe Steps i have taken to resolve:MEMtest 86 and 64 for 50 passesRe-seat every card in the machine.set the BIOS to safe defaults (this caused the computers boot manager lose it mind)turned off the page file totally (at the time I had 16 gigs of ram and did not need a page file anyway)Re-installed the OS clean on a clean driveTried installing 2008R2 both core and full install. (Datacenter and enterprise)slamming my head on the keyboard as hard as I humanly can.(this did NOT resolve the issue for the record but wow what a headache) uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and allowed windows to manage the video (helped on another machine i worked on last year)I have recent logs going back months, seems to happen almost every day no regularity.BELOW please find all logs that are current from this install of the OS.

running Windows 7 home 64bit
problem is theres no 64-bit version of adobe flash player. so I started using the 32-bit version of IE so I can use flash. every now and then it says "internet explorer has stopped working" ect.. says its checking for a solution to the problem and no solution exists of course
so anyway its prolly because its the 32-bit version and they didnt bother testing it enough on the 64 bit OS.
anyone else experiencing this?

In the past few days, I have gotten many BSOD's while browsing the web, playing games, or talking to people on Teamspeak 3. Usually the BSOD/crash hits me usually an hour in while I'm doing those things in a session. Before I did get BSOD's and crashes but they were few and spread out. I never responded to them because they happened very sparsely. Now that they are very constant, I need to do some action. I have went into safe mode right now and am typing this on another computer. As for the dmp files, I didn't have the option for the BSOD crashes to save dmp files but now that that is enabled, I do have one dmp file that I can share.
Also I have noticed that sometimes that when the computer crashes, the sound becomes very distorted, the screen tears/fuzzes into a static-like image and then it just restarts. I either get this kind of crash or just a simple BSOD. It's very strange. Apparently these are considered BSODs as well according to bluescreenview, they just dont have the bluescreen. Interesting..
Specs:
OS- Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
GPU- AMD Radeon 6870
Mobo- ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
RAM- G-Skill Ripjaw series 4 GB
CPU- AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
PSU- Corsair 650 Watt
Hard Drive- WD 1 TB SATA
Things that I have done but to no avail:
- Deleted MSI Afterburner
-Deleted Daemon Tools
-Completed a Memtest86 on my RAM. No errors even after 10 passes.
-Took out the RAM sticks, cleaned and then put back in their sockets.
-Cleaned the computer for dust
-Used Ccleaner to scan for problems and junk.
-Full scan of Malwarebytes. Caught 7 things but still nothing changes.
-Done an SFC /scannow scan
-Downloaded all the major Windows 7 updates.
-chkdsk scan.
Temperatures vary but they tend to stay normal. CPU average temperature is around 40 C idle. GPU Temperature is about 40C idle, 50C viewing videos, and and may hit to around 60-65 C while gaming. Fan speed on 55%. Temperatures when computer is idle on the desktop. Screenshots included below: The first bluescreen after I enabled the computer to allow dump files. More examples in the Mediafire list. I have some of the txt and DMP files but I cannot find an "include file" option here: I just upload them on Mediafire. Here are those links. [URLs]

Dual Core Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Toshiba laptop. My daughter was working on a Power Point project for school. She went to plug in her flash drive and it didnt seem to load the drive up. She unplugged it and then plugged it back in. We got a BSOD. We restarted it and it BSOD again. I tried some general troubleshooting, including restoring it to a previous version, and now cannot get into Windows at all. Not even in safe mode. Now I am getting multiple BSODs.
Currently I am seeing these BSODs:
I am getting one when just trying to start and run windows I am getting a BSOD about memory management.
If I try to go into safe mode it loads the files and then I get a BSOD regarding the fbwf.sys. Using the Windows 7 disc I have been able to get to the System Recovery Options. It finds my install and then blue screens with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL even before it gets to finding my install.
Other BSODs I know I have seen are regarding the Ntfs.Sys and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

System: Dell Inspiron laptop,
Studio 16 XPS
Windows 7 Home Premium w/Service Pack 1 (64 bit)
Intel Core Duo 2.8 Ghz, 4 GB RAM.
The problem is that Flash will not stay installed. Another problem (related?) is that I *cannot* install Itunes on this computer, it will error out each time, and Apple is notorious for telling me it is a Windows problem, nothing they can do, so I found a way around the "long pole in the tent" requirement of Itunes to Sync iPad/iPod, and this really isn't even a "problem" anymore as much as an annoyance. Other utilities, Avast virus protection, Malware Bytes, Spybot Search/Destroy with immunization, and always running Iolo System Mechanic.
All software and operating system is up to date with current patches and updates. A program I use regularly that may be suspect but also seems so innocuous as to have no bearing on it is a keyboard macro program, Keyboard Express v4. For example with this program, I can define some hot keys like ALT-CTRL-T which will insert some text I define to the program into wherever the cursor is at on the current web page or Word document. Always text, no graphics or funkiness here.
I usually use Firefox (v11.0) as my browser but interestingly enough, I discover that Flash has also disappeared when I go to IE (v9), and it appears there is a different Flash for IE than there is for Firefox, depending on which browser is used to download (multiple times daily) the Flash installer. An interesting aspect is that after I re-install Flash, IE and/or Firefox, then later on go to Outlook and click a link in an email, Outlook gives me an error message about not being able to open the link. But if I reboot, Outlook is now fine to click on and open that same link, although Flash has again gone away.

I assembled this computer from parts bought about 6 weeks ago, have had no problems with it until yesterday. Suddenly, I was experiencing a multitude of graphic glitches and general lag when using the computer. Engaging the graphics processor in any way seems to provoke these glitches. From a fresh restart everything looks good, but if I try to play a video file in VLC I get flickering, flashing screen, freezing, weird purple noise appearing all over the Windows 7 interface. More often than not, the nVidia driver crashes, and it's not only when playing video, performing a "Windows Experience Index Assessment" also produces these errors. So far, I've gotten four blue screens. I'm on Win 7 Professional x64 (downloaded through MSDNAA), with an ASUS GeForce GTX 560 Ti graphics card. I've tried a few different things already, including:
- Restarting computer, obviously
- Upgrading to the latest beta graphics card drivers (290.36)
- Rolling back to latest stable graphics card drivers (285.62)
I think I noticed the same .dll mentioned in all the blue screens, but I never really had time to confirm this as they occurred. Also, please see the attached "example.png" for a demonstration of the "purple noise". It seems the screenshot was obsolete, since now that I view it on the computer, with no bugs present - it's unaffected by bugs. I don't know what this tells us, but either way, disregard the screenshot.

My freshly installed Windows 7 Professional often crashes when video is played from local hard disk or though internet. The system sometimes crashes even when only music visualization (e.g. though Winamp) is enabled. The system still crashes and this is independent of movie player used.
I wonder if any of my video drivers are outdated or whether I have insufficient memory...
