I have Windows 7 64 bit laptop - and suffered two crashes today, while it was generally idling. The only new thing today is that there were some Windows update last night and an Adobe Flash update this morning.

-Overclocking and stressing my CPU (which held-up)
-Installing latest drivers for MB, and VGA
-Removing the SSD
-Installing a new power supply.
-Using a select start-up with MSCONFIG
None of which worked. My CPU runs between 30 - 36C and system average is 23C so it's not an over heating issue.I don't know a massive amount about computers but I have tried everything I could think off.

View 2 Replies View Relatedmy specs: emachines notebook intel core i3 cpu 2gb ram windows 7 64 bit browsers installed ie8, firefox 4 and chrome avg free edition installed shockwave flash 10.3.181.4 installed for ff graphics driver intel hd graphics driver version 8.15.10.2119 i'm accessing the internet through wireless internet i have been having a problem where playing flash video has crashed all the browsers i have installed. this issue has happened on multiple websites including Internet and bbc iplayer. it started happening out of the blue on 25th may 2011. there doesn't appear to be any microsoft updates added at that time and i did not install any new software on that day.
in firefox the issue happens 100% of the time. after watching for a few minutes the video starts to buffer and then the browser completely freezes up before the frame greys out and the option to send crash report appears. when i reload the page the same thing happens again. sometimes the audio will start to repeat itself with a delay of a few seconds before crashing.
in chrome, the same thing happens except the built in plug in becomes unresponsive and the browser then freezes and reports the error. ie crashes too although i hardly ever use it to be honest.
the things i have tried to fix this so far (without success) have been: manually uninstall all adobe products uninstall all browsers delete folders and reg entries for flash and delete folders for browsers reinstall software and flash run malwarebytes (no warnings or bad files). run a registry cleaner. nothing reported that seemed to be relevant to flash or media playback. uninstall flash revert back to flash 10.2 (i actually noticed a slight improvement when using 10.2 but cannot access embedded video in facebook etc so wasn't a viable option for me). disable avg and try playback unistall avg and try playback uninstall avg and windows firewall and try playback check for new video driver updated (there were none) untick enable hardware acceleration allow flash to store content in global settings i have not done a system restore and do not really want to do that if possible.
the only other thing i have noticed is that it has been difficult to install exe files from the web since this issue started (when trying to reinstall browsers etc). windows was corrupting the installers for chrome and firefox as well as the malware bytes.
i been having a problem with seemingly random bsods and crashes (ie where the computer forcibly restarts without generating a dump file). i think the crashes happens more frequently when surfing the internet, especially while watching Internet videos, but that might be a wrongful perception on my part.

They don't happen all too often, about 1 or 2 times per week.After trying to google the issue, they suggested running memtest - no errors, driver verifier found nothing, etc. So I re-installed windows, the same thing happened, I re-installed windows again, still get a blue screen every once in awhile.Then I noticed my power supply started making a humming noise, I ignored it, then one day it sparked and died. I thought that was the cause of all my issues until I replaced it with a temporary one and a few days later got another blue screen.It's always either ntoskrnl.exe or hal.dll, I didn't keep all the crash dumps from my previous installs.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had multiple issues with this box from day one, but i was positive i could fix this.After installing Win7Ult SP X64 from my MSDN account I have had numerous BSOD's that come from mainly ntoskrnl.exe Steps i have taken to resolve:MEMtest 86 and 64 for 50 passesRe-seat every card in the machine.set the BIOS to safe defaults (this caused the computers boot manager lose it mind)turned off the page file totally (at the time I had 16 gigs of ram and did not need a page file anyway)Re-installed the OS clean on a clean driveTried installing 2008R2 both core and full install. I have been getting lots of 9F crashes on a HP DV7 laptop running 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium.Problem is the the minidumps are not being saved! I have set it up to save them (small dumps) and not to automatically restart. I cant debug it without them
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the past few days, I have gotten many BSOD's while browsing the web, playing games, or talking to people on Teamspeak 3. Usually the BSOD/crash hits me usually an hour in while I'm doing those things in a session. Before I did get BSOD's and crashes but they were few and spread out. I never responded to them because they happened very sparsely. Now that they are very constant, I need to do some action. I have went into safe mode right now and am typing this on another computer. As for the dmp files, I didn't have the option for the BSOD crashes to save dmp files but now that that is enabled, I do have one dmp file that I can share.
Also I have noticed that sometimes that when the computer crashes, the sound becomes very distorted, the screen tears/fuzzes into a static-like image and then it just restarts. I either get this kind of crash or just a simple BSOD. It's very strange. Apparently these are considered BSODs as well according to bluescreenview, they just dont have the bluescreen. Interesting..

Things that I have done but to no avail:
- Deleted MSI Afterburner
-Deleted Daemon Tools
-Completed a Memtest86 on my RAM. No errors even after 10 passes.
-Took out the RAM sticks, cleaned and then put back in their sockets.
-Cleaned the computer for dust
-Used Ccleaner to scan for problems and junk.
-Full scan of Malwarebytes. Caught 7 things but still nothing changes.
-Done an SFC /scannow scan
-Downloaded all the major Windows 7 updates.
-chkdsk scan.
Temperatures vary but they tend to stay normal. CPU average temperature is around 40 C idle. GPU Temperature is about 40C idle, 50C viewing videos, and and may hit to around 60-65 C while gaming. We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems.The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening.My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..
I am trying to get my wife's new computer up and running without any BSOD or program failures. Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. I do note that all the crashes have ntoskrnl.exe in the driver stack although sometimes alone and sometimes with other drivers.[CODE]

I know a bit about diagnosing and repairing issues but this one is just a pain in my butt. I am uploading the dump files and I hope someone can give me a hand I am running a sfc scan right now to test for any problems too. Also got this off the TSG SysInfo Program.

I have attached a second monitor to my laptop which runs Windows 7, however, I need to set different resolutions for different monitors, because the display does not fit to fill the screen on both monitors.
It is also noted that the display is replicated, and I would like to have the effect of having different desktops e.g. being able to use different applications such as debugging code on one monitor on an IDE such as Visual Studio, and, viewing the browser on the other monitor.
Currently it does not seem possible since the behavior seems to be that the same resolution is replicated on both monitors.
I use WhoCrashed to analyze these errors but I dont know how to solve. Maybe my hardware cause these.

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get two monitors, a small 1024x768 LCD, and a 46" 1920x1080 TV, to display the same wallpaper at different resolutions. My graphics card is older, a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700, but it is perfectly capable of driving both displays at the same time. It's a minor annoyance, but I'd like to get it working if it's possible.

Second- I can't view more than one window of the same program at the same time. No matter how small I resize it, the second window sends the first window to it's taskbar icon.I've run sfc /scannow, scanned with Avast & Malwarebytes. Restored folder options in the view tab & set it to open in it's own window.
i have a HP laptop and it came with a windows 7 orginal DVD and key. my Question is im thinking of buying a new dell laptop which also comes with installed windows 7 but i wont get a free copy of windows 7 DVD. so should i burn my existing HP's win7 dvd to a blank disc and use that dvd to install windows if needed in my new laptop.. ofcourse ill use different keys cuz keys are always underneath the laptop.
so in short, if i do that i will be able to run geniune windows on both my laptops? use same win 7 dvd but using HP key in HP laptop and dell key in dell laptop?
I like the windows 7. It much faster.
But When i open Internet Explorer Window it opens a new window in first time and the IE icon in task bar is filled with IE windows, If i want to open another IE window, I have only 2 choices :
1. Open New window using File menu or
2. Right click IE Window on task bar and clicking IE.
Any one tell me how to open new IE window when first IE window is open, like opening multiple IE windows by clicking IE icon in taskbar.
Simply I want IE icon should be shown on Taskbar even mutiple IE windows open (Just like Vista and XP)
I would like to know how can I have two windows sessions active at the same time. I've found some tutorials in google with a installer file, but when I run it as admin although it says the operation was ok, there are some errors, and in the end I always get the common error when trying to connect two sessions at the same time.

I also need it to automatically login to the VM without asking for credentials from Windows 7 or xp. I've turned off integration and done the "control userpasswords2" thing. When I log in as a new user and start the VM, Windows 7 pops up with a credentials box. Once I enter the username and password and check "remember credentials" it goes fine. I want to eliminate that initial credentials box though.
