View 1 RepliesComputer is frozen, black screen with movable mouse after splash logo. Same happens in safe mode. The log in screen never shows up. The computer sounds like its loading at that point, but nothing ever comes up. I can get into ubuntu. This happened after updating my graphics card nvidia. I have dual monitors. Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, HP Pavilion p6107c Desktop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer suddenly froze, well it appeared that it had, it was infact just the Keyboard and Mouse. I turned it off manually and re-booted. Lone behold the Keyboard and mouse still don't work. This has happened before and I found a fix for it by following some steps to do something like an electrical reset or something where you turn it on and off and hold a button in for a certain amount of time etc, BUT I can't remember how to do it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI turn on my computer and it will take me to the log in screen but the mouse is stuck in the middle of the screen and my keypad wont work. So I can't log in and get to my desktop. I've turned my computer off and retried several times. It was doing this yesterday too. I've tried restarting it in all the different types of safe modes, and still nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a windows 7 advent laptop. When I turn my laptop on, it works and comes up with the option either to "launch startup repair" or "start windows normally". Whichever one I select, the same thing happens. It goes to the blue screen as normal where I would select my user but that option doesn't come up. It's just the blue screen. I have tried rebooting it, and waiting for it to load for over 10minutes but it doesn't change from that screen. The cursor still works but no keys work on it and there is nothing to click.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI turned on my computer today and it stayed frozen at the starting windows screen for. Long time, but it would not move on. Then it jumped back and started booting the computer again but hung at the same spot. I tried starting my computer in safe mode, but it won't boot into safe mode either. I can not do any of the system recovery options. Also by BIOS has a password on it and I have no clue what it is, So I can't not access my BIOS.

I'm trying to install windows 7 on to my new build but when I get to the language selection the mouse and keyboard stop working and no cursor appears, they both work in bios so I don't know what the issue is.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop computer running Windows 7 64-bit. I have had it around 1 month and just today have found it keeps freezing on me. The screen literally freezes on one image and I cannot move the mouse/use the keyboard. The fans are still running inside the PC and I cannot see why this happens.
My specs are:
Intel i7 980X Processor
8GB RAM
1TB HDD
1GB GFX
So I have a little problem with my mouse and keyboard. It stops working at the login screen. The same thing happens when I try to log on safe mode, etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but recently on my girlfriends computer we installed a webcam and everything kinda froze. Upon restarting the computer it comes up with the screen saying a device failed and may need a startup repair. Also gives the option to start windows normally. The problem is the keyboard is not recognized to choose an option. It counts down and goes to the screen to start the startup repair, but again no mouse or keyboard. I have tried accessing the BIOS but considering the keyboard is not working i cannot do that either. I'm not sure what all is in it as I got it from a friend when he built a new one. It is a custom computer, not from a typical manufacturer. It has worked perfectly up until trying to install the webcam. I have tried using every USB port and also tried using a ps/2 converter to no avail. I'm not sure what to do anymore, and I'm afraid of messing with it too much or hard-booting it too much.

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday night I turned off my computer by pressing the power button and now my mouse and keyboard do not work anymore(in Windows). I wanted to see if it was just the mouse/keyboard itself, but I noticed nothing detects when I connect a USB device. I tried plugging it in every port and it's the same. I thought it was a hardware issue, but now I realize that it is not.
I restarted my computer and tried to get into safe mode; it worked(I was able to go up and down to select which mode I wanted to enter). Once inside safe mode and windows is loaded, the keyboard just freezes. It does not work at all. I then decided to go into bios to see what is up and everything seems right. I even screwed around and messed up my overclock settings.
So now I know my keyboard still works and it's probably a Windows issue. I wanted to see if my mouse would work. I went into Windows Repair(I might have gotten the name wrong) and voila, my mouse worked!
I've only noticed this on Windows 7, I have NO idea what's going on.
I know sometimes when your computer is badly frozen that the keyboard won't respond and the lights won't even respond when you press numlock and capslock.
Well my keyboard works just fine (I'm typing from it now) but the LIGHTS do not! The numlock light is on, the capslock and scroll lock lights are off. They won't change no matter what I do. Same with numlock. The lights stays on even when it's off.
If I press capslock I still get capslock SEE. But the lights won't change. O.o
Obviously it's not a major issue that's inhibiting my experience but it is a little confusing because I can't tell what locks are on or off.
At win 7 login screen mouse & keyboard USB 2.0 doesn't work. We've tried this same mouse & keyboard in a diff computer & it worked fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe mouse/cursor suddenly STOPPED. The computer was rebooted and the same thing occurs. I plugged in a wireless mouse that has been used before, but NOTHING. The cursor/mouse will not move.
I even reinstalled windows but have hte same problem.
I have been using win 7 for a couple years with the same wireless mouse/keyboard combo (microsoft ntellimouse explorer 2.0). The other day the pointer mouse pointer froze in the middle of the screen. I have rebooted several times, tried a wired usb mouse (it works on other computers with win7), tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and nothing has worked. The pointer is still frozen in the middle of the screen. I'd like some suggestions on how to resolve this issue.
