Screen Freezing On One Image - Cannot Move Mouse Or Use Keyboard
Feb 2, 2011
I have a desktop computer running Windows 7 64-bit. I have had it around 1 month and just today have found it keeps freezing on me. The screen literally freezes on one image and I cannot move the mouse/use the keyboard. The fans are still running inside the PC and I cannot see why this happens.
my problem is when I start the computer and get to the login screen; Im unable to choose the user because neither my keyboard and mouse don't work. I also can't get to the safe mode. I've got USB Wireless mouse and keyboard and it works in bios. I didnt make any changes to the computer lately
It All started when my ipod was being stupid and got Bricked almost. So I went into Windows XP but switched to IDE storage Config. in the Bios Fixed it Rebooted Changed to AHCI which is what Windows 7 was Installed with So. Now When I go to Windows 7 NO Matter what Mode (Safe Mode) Keyboard and Mouse there Off they don't stay on after boot. I tried a PS2 Converter, Switched USB Ports, Put in a new Keyboard and Nothing. I re-copied the USB drivers from the DVD into System32/Drivers Still will not work..
Keyboard: Dell Multimedia USB with 2 USB Ports and Logitech V200 Wireless Mouse. Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit. Asus P6T Core i7 930 2.8GHz LGA1366 OCZ Gold Series 2x2GB = 4GB DDR3-1333
Also I did Memory Test nothing was wrong. I have had this problem with XP before because it couldn't handle the System Hardware Change But I was able to easily repair it and It worked after. How Do I fix it with Windows 7?
I'm trying to install windows 7 on to my new build but when I get to the language selection the mouse and keyboard stop working and no cursor appears, they both work in bios so I don't know what the issue is.
So I have a little problem with my mouse and keyboard. It stops working at the login screen. The same thing happens when I try to log on safe mode, etc.
Whenever I start my computer and it gets to the Windows 7 login screen, my mouse and keyboard won't respondThey work in BIOS but once Windows 7 starts to boot up...nothing!My PC doesn't have any PS/2 ports on it, only USB so I can't even access my Desktop to see if the driver are enabled or if the Power Management options are right.I can't do a "Last Known System Configuration" because F8 won't work.[CODE]
im not the smartest computer person but i manage. anyway i was cleaning up my computer, getting files off i didn't wont. i had to restart, i went to login like i normally to and bam, cant type or move the mouse on my laptop. i know they work cause i tried it in the recovery mode. can someone help me out? i really dont wanna loose everything i have on my computer, 500 GB of files and most are from things ive installed and are hard to ge
Everytime I boot up the keyboard works for me to go to BIOS or Boot menu but once I get to the login page it stops working. I noticed that people are saying disable device signature enforcement or something but I can't find that in my BIOS. I have an Asus motherboard model - M4A88t -V
When Im on the net using Firefox, theres often times when things will stop moving (i.e. the blinking text cursor, tabs that are loading, things that are downloading, etc.), and they will continue to move if i move my mouse around, or the touch-pad... and, i believe, if i type, things will resume. This gets rather annoying, because the only remedy is to close Firefox, and then re-open it. It seems to happen most when i attempt to upload something - no matter where Im uploading it to (such as sendspace, multiupload, etc.).I dont think i have a virus - Im running AVG for security, and Super Anti-Spyware. I also have the latest Firefox, which according to the About tab is 5.0, and it says it's up-to-date.
I just noticed that the default location for the xml files it creates with each image is on my C:.... My Documents/Reflect.I always just let it choose until I came to the image, which is on an external drive.Should these be on my external drive, and can I move them safely so they will be recognized, in case my C: fails? In other words, can I move them and Macrium will find them? Do I have to do a step after I move them
I have an issue with my USB mices, they don't work. The mouse cursor won't move an inch. It's lit up and the Steelseries driver "Engine" makes it very clear that the mouse is recognized by the computer. I can play around with the lights and the settings but the cursor won't move. I have been googling for hours and tried many fixes without success.
I have tried: Tweaking the BIOS and the USB mouse support option, deleting different keys in regedit, deleting and reinstalling drivers. I got the problem after I changed the PSU. The mouse would work but it stuttered forward and the movement wasn't smooth at all until it completely stopped moving. I have since switched back to my old PSU to no avail. I'm suspecting that there is a power issue, maybe a setting changed when I switched PSU.
I would love it, if I could assign a button to my keyboard that would take the currently highlighted window, and move to it screen 1, 2 or 3 in it's exact current size and position..
Anyone know if that is possible? I know you can move them 1 screen at a time, but I'd like to be able to just hit a single key or shortcut.
All web browsers (ie, chrome, firefox) create high cpu usage when I move the mouse inside the browers. If I move the mouse around cpu usage can go up to 70% until I stop moving the mouse. I think other activities within the broswer might also cause this to happen but I'm not sure.
If I leave the browser idle the problem seems to go away although the the cpu usage of the browser tends to spike fairly often.
I updated windows recently but one of the optional updates created a problem so I did a system restore. I'm fairly sure the problem started there although I'm not 100% sure.
My win 7 laptop reported that a usb device had malfunctioned - my mouse, a roccat kone, no longer controlled the pointer. The scroll wheel and buttons still work, but the pointer will not move. Having had a similar problem in the past I purchased a new mouse, a rat 7, but I have the exact same problem.
Now both mice work fine on my PC, and both work on a variety of surfaces. - I have tried in safe mode, no luck - I have tried uninstalling all usb drivers, and all mouse drivers, no success (all other peripherals work fine, hard rives, usb drives and a tablet/pen) - I have rebooted a million times, and tried toggling legacy usb support in bios. - I also tried installing microsoft generic mouse drivers, no luck.
I am willing to try anything, though id rather not reinstall the os.
I have an issue where the Drop Down menu to select meeting times in Outlook is not working. I'm unable to select meeting times via the mouse and must type them in. I have tested this and found that the drop down disappears when you move the mouse pointer over it. I have only been able to get it to work by left clicking and holding the mouse button down while I hover over the drop down list.Note: This does not appear to be an Outlook issue as I also have the same problem with the Windows system Tray. The system tray icons disappear when I move the mouse pointer over them.
I'm using Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz 2GB RAM, Win7 64bit, 160GB HDD, Geforce 9400GT.
Recently my PC is getting stuck for no reason. While browsing, watching a movie, when I leave it idle for a while its getting stuck. Screen is as it was and I cannot move the cursor, keyboard isn't working. Then I restart it manually and go to the option "start windows normally" or something. This happened previously and I thought it has smthin to do with my HDD, but I checked it n re installed win7 64bit. It was working normally for about 3 months and now it started again.
Monday afternoon I turned my computer on and noticed that every two minutes or so the computer would freeze up for up to 15 seconds, after which I had another one-two minutes of uninterrupted use and then it would freeze again.
The Computer Dell Inspirion Laptop E1705/9400 Windows 7 and Windows xp 40gb and 120gb HDD 1gb ram Dual core (centrino?)cpu need more info? ask.
(only on Windows 7)I'd done two major things in the past week and neither one of them could have had caused this because there'd been so much time in between. The first was I networked a couple folders on my hard drive so they were accessible on the rest of my home network (on Friday). Second I'd installed GIMP on my computer (Saturday night).
(only on Windows 7)I did a restore point from about a week ago, still had the same problem, then I tried uninstalling GIMP and turning off file sharing, still nada.
I thought maybe it was a software problem and because I had a website due in a couple hours I thought I'd swap out the Windows 7 hard drive which I was using and instead use a hard drive with Xp, Oddly enough all the problems I've mentioned up to now and the problems I'll mention persisted on both platforms (unless otherwise stated), also note I hadn't used Xp in months (about 3 months ago was the last time I'd used it in a computer.)
After messing around some more I noticed that my touch pad wasn't working at all (I'd been using a external wireless mouse until then) The drivers somehow uninstalled themselves and pretended to not work when I reinstalled them.
The only thing that kinda worked was booting in safe mode, then the courser would freeze but not anything else. When you look at this with the fact that the touch-pad doesn't work and the problem persists cross-platform, it begins to look like a BIOS or hardware problem, not a software thing.
Other Weird Phenomenon
(only on Windows 7) Stumble Upon doesn't show up in the toolbar even when it's enabled and checked off as supposed to be there, in Firefox.[this one is just weird... it could be that I updated it and didn't realize and it's not playing nice with some other add-on, I'll look into that.) On screen keyboard also wont work in safe mode while courser is frozen (but mouse isn't). When I access files through file sharing from a different computer they are also subject to freezing, meaning that if I have a HTML file open in notepad ++ ( that's on the laptop) every two minutes or so it'll freeze up for 10-15 seconds.
Before the most recent MS security updates my Windows 7 seemed ok.
After the security updates the image previewer freezes a lot when I'm clicking the arrows to go between images. It'll work fine for a few images and then freeze. Sometimes it'll recover and work after a few moments and other times it says "Loading" forever.
I recently got a new computer at work with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. I'm having issues in both Excel and Outlook when I try to drag and drop an item, instead of just dropping when I take my finger off of the mouse button, I'm having to click a second time on the mouse to get it to drop the item. I have googled this problem and tried multiple things to trouble shoot without success. It is driving me crazy!I have downloaded new mouse softwareTried another mouseUndocked and tried with touchpadrebootedChecked settings in Excel and drag and drop is enabled.
I am a Proffessional Photographer who sent my Vista Computer in to be fixed and was called and told they were going to replace it with a new Windows 7. I take hundreds of pictures and its really important to me to be able to re-organize them within the same folder in the order I need and then rename them within that folder. I have found threads with info on downloading and making the windows allow you to do this, and have tried for hours. I'm either doing something wrong, or its not working. I have the newest version of home premium and maybe that's the problem. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite L775-S7352.
Not sure how exactly how to start this, but I am suddenly having issues where my computer will freeze. I could still hear audio and move my mouse. ie if I am watching a you tube video I can hear the video still going but my computer freeze up.
On my laptop the primary user mouse has frozen and will not move. The other users mouse/cursor moves fine. Also, I have noticed that the when on the primary user the fan runs and the computer is hot.
Just come back from my honymoon, overseas and i now have a problem i can't locate. My mouse keeps freezing, only for a few seconds at a time (very annoying).
