Mouse Is Mistaking Mouse 1 With Wheel?
May 5, 2012I have a W7 64b laptop.My mouse has started having problems, first it didn't click on things when i pressed it but if you persist it does no no big harm there. Biggest problem I am facing is the mistaking of the wheel with mouse 1. Some times when I am browsing the net and i have to scroll, and generally every time I move my mouse fast, it automatically presses the wheel. It is getting really annoying and I dont know how to stop it. I changed the mouse with another,and I had the same problem.I dont know what to do.I believe its a virus but pc didnt find anything with avast.

Nov 6, 2011Sometimes I think I must have an alter ego who is intent on screwing up my life because I get on my computer and suddenly its doing weird stuff I never wanted it to do.Here lately, a lot of times when I just want to scroll down the page, it ends up zooming into letters so small I can't read, or conversely too large.How is this happening and how can I stop it other than handcuff myself if I'm doing it in my sleep and sabotaging myself.

Apr 4, 2009When I click on an item inthe navigation pane and want to scroll down to a certain folder in the main window, the mouse wheel stays on the nav pane. Have to go and click in the main window to scroll.
If you click the navigation pane, then the wheel should in my opinion default over to scroll on the main pane. It's a little bothersome to have to keep clikckingto scroll after i just cliked to open that item in the navitgation pane already.
confused yet? maybe the pic will better describe it. I know it's not a big deal, but......
Like in the pic i clicked on music folder in the left nav pane, i would want it to scroll over on right without having to click mouse again. Maybe it's a matter of preference, but that's mine.

When i restart my laptop, the speed is back up to full when i scroll, but when i check in control panel >mouse settings, the speed shows that its still set to the lowest setting. I move the slider, click apply and it works again.

Unable Scroll One Line At A Time IE8 / Firefox OK
Apr 25, 2011I run Win 7 32-bit and IE8 on my laptop. Until approximately two days ago I could control scrolling in My Favorites, with ability to scan one folder or it's contents at a time. Now, unable to control this action, and after the last visible line, if I try to go further down, the scroller automatically starts over at the top. A similar problem occurs on several websites, but always occurs with Favorites in IE 8. When using Firefox, I can control the scrolling without any problem. I remember that this issue came up about a year ago, when many of us were trying to understand what was going on; unfortunately, I don't remember how it was fixed! I've reset, cleaned cat-hairs from, and changed battery in mouse - not the problem. Windows has added a ton of recent automatic updates and I think one of them is causing the problem. I can view a number of them, and see they are related to Win Office, but due to inability to scroll down any further, I can't view those which may be related to IE.

Jan 1, 2013I have an issue with my USB mices, they don't work. The mouse cursor won't move an inch. It's lit up and the Steelseries driver "Engine" makes it very clear that the mouse is recognized by the computer. I can play around with the lights and the settings but the cursor won't move. I have been googling for hours and tried many fixes without success.
I have tried: Tweaking the BIOS and the USB mouse support option, deleting different keys in regedit, deleting and reinstalling drivers. I got the problem after I changed the PSU. The mouse would work but it stuttered forward and the movement wasn't smooth at all until it completely stopped moving. I have since switched back to my old PSU to no avail. I'm suspecting that there is a power issue, maybe a setting changed when I switched PSU.

Jul 15, 2010Is it just me or has Win 7 stopped the ability to move more than one group of files/folder at a time?
For example, I'm trying to transfer some music album folders to a USB or another folder. I drag and drop the first album in there, but I have to wait to the progress box to finish before I can drag the next one/group in there.
I KNOW this was never a problem with XP, where every group of files/folders your moved/copied would open a new progress box, each doing their own thing. Why would such a basic function have changed?
Browsers Have High CPU When Move The Mouse
Mar 1, 2012All web browsers (ie, chrome, firefox) create high cpu usage when I move the mouse inside the browers. If I move the mouse around cpu usage can go up to 70% until I stop moving the mouse. I think other activities within the broswer might also cause this to happen but I'm not sure.
If I leave the browser idle the problem seems to go away although the the cpu usage of the browser tends to spike fairly often.
I updated windows recently but one of the optional updates created a problem so I did a system restore. I'm fairly sure the problem started there although I'm not 100% sure.

The scroll wheel and buttons still work, but the pointer will not move. Having had a similar problem in the past I purchased a new mouse, a rat 7, but I have the exact same problem.
Now both mice work fine on my PC, and both work on a variety of surfaces.
- I have tried in safe mode, no luck
- I have tried uninstalling all usb drivers, and all mouse drivers, no success (all other peripherals work fine, hard rives, usb drives and a tablet/pen)
- I have rebooted a million times, and tried toggling legacy usb support in bios.
- I also tried installing microsoft generic mouse drivers, no luck.
I am willing to try anything, though id rather not reinstall the os.

May 24, 2012I have an issue where the Drop Down menu to select meeting times in Outlook is not working. I'm unable to select meeting times via the mouse and must type them in. I have tested this and found that the drop down disappears when you move the mouse pointer over it. I have only been able to get it to work by left clicking and holding the mouse button down while I hover over the drop down list.Note: This does not appear to be an Outlook issue as I also have the same problem with the Windows system Tray. The system tray icons disappear when I move the mouse pointer over them.
