I have an EeePC t91mt with a 32gb solid state hard drive which is too small for my needs. Can I upgrade it to 100+gb.if yes, what drives are compatible.Has any one upgraded their machine? I have already upgraded the memory.
my asus eee pc 1005p netbook's hard disk 250 gb was broken so it was replaced by a new 160 gb hard disk and install windows 7 ultimate on it. everything went fine except for my touch pad and intel VGA. I already tried to download and install different programs: For the touchpad: from ASUS website download: ETDWare setup application (ETD8_0_5_3_ps2drv_WHQL and TP-S-13_2_6_1) and also Synaptic (Synaptics_v14_0_16) but still the touchpad won't work!
And for the intel VGA: VGA-TNM10-V8_14_10_1929_Win7, VGA-V8_14_10_2117 both from ASUS download center Intel_VGA_Pineview_Driver_V814_10_2364_for_W7 from intel download center I wanted my touchpad to work and improve my VGA..
I received an interesting challenge from my Boss today. She gave me her daughter's netbook which is an ASUS (I think it is the first or close to first ever made) and is extremely limited in specs...check this out
Celeron M Processor (900MHZ...)
1GB RAM(667MHZ I think...)
8GB SSD(It might be an SSD but 8GB and it happens to be in an IDE-only configuration...)
Intel 915 Int-GPU (Intel GPU, enough said...)
That is the relevant specs...I am wondering if installing Windows 7 will be possible
Ultimate?...NO NO NO
Professional?...NO NO
Home Premium?...NO
Home Basic...Maybe...
I have also heard reports that you can't activate Home Basic in the US. Before someone says to slap XP on it and let it go...her daughter despises XP and loves Windows 7 which led my boss to get me to attempt to install 7 on it. I think the biggest limiting factor here is HD space but I think Home Basic could fit on it..
I'm building a new computer and I thought I had an os around. Apparently, I only have the upgrade disk. Figures. Anyways, is there any way to install an os onto my freshly built pc with the upgrade disk?
So, I have a i7 2600K system with a solid state disk as the boot drive, and an older (c2008) Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB drive as the data drive for programs (that I deem as not worthy of the quick load times). The hard drive has given me some errors over time, and I bought a hard disk to replace it (a Hitachi 1TB). The issue I'm having is that the fact that Windows 7 puts a small (100MB) partition on the F3, and for some reason, even though I'm running Acronis 2012, it doesn't seem to be able to clone the F3 over to the Hitachi. I've also tried Drive XML, and for my 2 hour wait, I only managed to acquire a boot error. Thankfully, I've not done anything rash to destroy the data on the F3, but given the fact that I've seen corrupted files in Steam from that drive, I'm not will to trust it long term with my data. I really need to get the data onto that Hitachi, though... Anyone have any advice for upgrading the HDD in a SSD/HDD system? I don't really feel like it should be so hard, especially if I've bought Acronis True Image, but maybe they haven't designed their product to handle this scenario quite yet?
I am upgrading my Hard Drive to an SSD and I was going to do a Clean install of Windows 7 but for some reason I can not find my Windows 7 CD including the case. I have the product key since it is in my computer but I just don't have the disk, What I should do.

I have a Dell inspiron 1545 with a pretty measly hard drive of 135gb. I have an old hard drive from another laptop which is 320gb and i'm wanting to upgrade. I have done this before but i just used all the installation disks to reinstall windows and everything onto the new hard drive. This time however, i want to be able to copy the whole contents of my current hard drive onto the new one so that when i swap them over and i boot up the computer it contains the operating system, software and files that are currently on the 135gb hard drive. I presume there is some sort of wires, software and housing that i might need to achieve this. So far i have been pointed in the direction of this software pack (Apricorn EZ Upgrade Universal Hard Drive Upgrade Kit (SATA and PATA 2.5" Notebook Drives) Deals, #EZ-UP-UNIVERSAL - Expansys.com UK) but i was wondering if there was a cheaper way to perform the required task.
I was also wondering if the new hard drive will affect battery life. The new one spins at 7200rpm compared to the old at 5400rpm.
I have IOmega 1 TB hard drive. 2 days ago, my comp restarted suddenly after which my external drive is corrupted.I get the error 'H: is not accessble' The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. It shows up in the disk management as RAW file system,I have almost 700 GB of important documents, pictures & files that I don't want to lose.Does anybody know of any good recovery software that can help.
I purchased a new PC with Windows 7 in June 2012. It came with a Samsung optical disk containing Windows 7. I am eligible for the $14.99 USD upgrade to Windows 8.Will there be an installation disk for Windows 8 available at this price and if not, then how much more will it cost?If not, then how should I ensure that I can easily install Windows 8 after a hard disk crash? Do I have to keep my Samsung optical disk of Windows 7?
in my hardisk with G: size 465gb xp shows that 74.86 gb is remaining space......while space used is 0 , there are no hidden files, nothing in the disk K: size 186gb same as above and remaining is 35 gb according to windows xp i: size 196gb .in this only 9 gb is used and xp shows that 10gb is remaining//

I have few questions on Windows 7 Upgrade. Currently I'm using windows vista home premium 64 bit and I bought an windows 7 home premium 64 bit upgrade disk.
first thing is I want to format my previous operating system and all the data in my laptop and install windows 7 in it using the Upgrade disk.

third is can i install windows 7 on a new hard disk using a windows 7 Upgrade disk?
I'm trying to fix my mums laptop for her, it's an Asus X5DIJ operating on windows 7, she has only had it a few weeks but her trial month of anti virus had run out and she was having a few probs with it so I tried to restore it to an earlier point as i thought she might have a virus, it took over an hour to do this and appeared to have frozen so i switched the power button off!!!! i now realise that was a big mistake as when it restarted i was getting a whole load of error message with missing .dll files and not being able to do a lot of things so i tried undoing the restore but it wouldn't allow it as it said restore was still running, i also tried a different restore point but it wouldn't allow that either... I then tried the repair computer options at the boot menu but it didn't work either so I thought i might as well just restore it to factory settings as she hadn't had it long enough to have put much on it anyway.... the recovery disk gets to 32% and then spits the disk out with this message Failed to restore disk from the Asus Recovery DVD Error code is :-3 I have tried it a few times and this is what happens each time, i have also tried just putting the next disk in (3rd out of 4) but it just reboots and wants to start the whole process again.I have the number to call asus support but they are closed today, also the recovery disks are not supplied by the manufacturer but instead on initial start up you are asked to make your own but i didn't do that as my cousin has the exact same laptop so I used his disks..
I have a notebook asus that doesn't have a disk drive or whater its called. I accidently turned my computer off while it was just starting to configure windows. I tried to turn it back on but it just says launch star up repair (which says it cant fix the problem) and start windows normally (which just brings it back to the original screen.
Bought my new ASUS laptop from Best Buy a week ago. Finally having a chance to get started with it. They gave some good advice, to create a back up disk(s) in case any issues arise. This means I will have to get a USB-operated external DVD drive. Not really a problem, I mean I don't mind doing that. But is it not possible to create the same backup disk on a flash drive?
I bought an ASUS laptop and it came with no disk. I not only do not want the bloatware but I want to switch the HDD out for a newly purchased SSD. How can I do this? I want to use the license that came with the laptop
My laptop came with win 7 x64 already loaded, but had a huge(334G)D: partition on it. That seems to be what is preventing me from making the disk set. At least that is what the error message says.DO I need to just scroll the forums, and delete and then find that 334 space?
I have an Asus G73JH-BST7 Laptop and recently it's been freezing. For the past two months it has had issues with programs hanging for 1-3 minutes then quickly responding again. About a week ago the laptop began to freeze and wouldn't come back and would required a hard restart. I decided to make use of my warranty and took it into a geek squad store. They told me they ran chkdsk and "other" tests to check the HDD and it passed all the tests and they couldn't "Replicate" the problem. So, I took the laptop back and it's still hanging/freezing. Whats the best way to go about diagnosing this?
I want to format and 0 write and wipe the entire hard drive in an Asus EEEPC with no system disc and re-install windows 7 home premium. The windows registration number is on the back of the computer.
Did not come with a windows disc or recovery disc from the factory, IE windows 7 home pro was pre-installed.
I created a system recover boot disc/CD. This machine has no CD/DVD drive, but I do have a USB CD/DVD drive.
If I format and write the drive, but leave the partitions will I be able to re-install this version of windows that came with the machine ??
I don't know what is my problem because is not the first time that usb external hard drive is working fine until get damage and said " it need to be formatted " and lost all the INFO because I have to format again the disk to be usefull. Also it is not the same hard disk.
I've just bought Seagate Momentus XT 500GB and installed it myself to desktop. Downloaded DiskWizard from Seagate to clone my old hard disk into the new one.
Problem: How do I boot from the new hard disk? I still got my old hard disk on my computer, I'm trying to use it as extra storage, but it's still booting from the old C drive. How do I change it to boot from my new hard disk?
i installed windows 7 recently then after some while i did that "system rating" thing. right clicking on "computer" - "properties" - then there's "manufacturer" "model" then "rating" in the "system" section. while doing that power went off, because i didn't have the battery on and the charger got unplugged. i restarted the laptop and a message came up telling me that "operating system not found". so i decided to re-install windows 7. then after a while a message came up telling me that there is no hard disk installed. and press f3 to restart
I migrated from a 250 GB HDD to a 500 GB. I had around 230 GB of information wich I really didn't want to loose, so I cloned the old HDD to the new one with the software Acronis True Image Home.
Apparently, the cloning succeds, but when I disconnect the old Disk and try to boot from the new one, when I log on I get stuck in "preparing your session".
Windows 7 64bit has popped up saying it has detected a HDD problem, I need to back up my files immediately. I installed a new 2TB HDD (Samsung HD204UI) a couple of months ago, surely it shouldn't be failing already? This is my secondery disk. Is this by any chance a malware or virsus playing tricks on me?
i accidentally wiped my hard drive and recovery partion on an HP Pavillion G6 laptop running a 500 Gig seagate hard drive and now it will not recognize the drive.i can not format it or do anything please help.
I am confused about how much I should keep the partition in my new laptop, the reason is, I feel that disk partition do affects the system speed, I do not know whether I am correct or not. I have a 700 GB hard disk presently with Win-7 Installed, I do not know how to do the partition when windows is installed, during installation I was unable to do the partition because 'new' button was disable.I hope there is some way to do the partition after installing win-7. Please help tell the way to do the partition, also tell how many partition is optimum with what size.
