Bought my new ASUS laptop from Best Buy a week ago. Finally having a chance to get started with it. They gave some good advice, to create a back up disk(s) in case any issues arise. This means I will have to get a USB-operated external DVD drive. Not really a problem, I mean I don't mind doing that. But is it not possible to create the same backup disk on a flash drive?

I have my computer monitor on VGA and my TV on HDMI. When I have both monitor and TV connected, I lose the Windows 7 startup animation. It uses the Vista animation instead. When I have just the computer monitor alone, on VGA or HDMI, the Windows 7 animation comes back. How can I make the Windows 7 be used even if both monitor and TV are connected?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Asus eee PC since 2010 with Win 7 and never had any problem. I was working on my laptop without any problem. But for last couple of hours I am not able to connect to my wireless network. It doesn't show any network. It only shows the message "Not connected. No connections available". I have internet service through out the house. Wireless is also working on my IPod, IPad and IPhone. I have desktop connected with network wire and internet is working just fine. When I connect my EEE with network cable, everything is working as expected. Only wireless is not working.
I already tried the following:
1. Restarted my eee pc
2. Restarted wireless router (doing this before, would remove any problem but not this time)
3. Tried clicking Fn + F2 buttons
Also, few minutes back my machine was updated with automatic update of Win 7 SP1. Nothing is working.. I don't know what happened. It is so frustrating to see things stop working without any valid reason.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried to uninstall McAfee 5 times each time I have had to restore to get the computer back up and running.First I uninstalled with windows then I uninstalled with McAfee tool then I right clicked it to run as admin then I found a setting in McAfee that said do not delete McAfee system files changed that then I tried in safe mode still no luck called McAfee then did remote tech support they uninstalled it and it blues creened.Now they are saying it is not their fault since McAfee is uninstalled!!

Maybe I clicked something that changed things, but now I only get a list of running programs (NOT processes). I tried a different disk, and yes it worked. I also tried putting the Windows 7 disk into my friends computer, and it showed up. I have tried many different things, and nothing works. View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to fix my mums laptop for her, it's an Asus X5DIJ operating on windows 7, she has only had it a few weeks but her trial month of anti virus had run out and she was having a few probs with it so I tried to restore it to an earlier point as i thought she might have a virus, it took over an hour to do this and appeared to have frozen so i switched the power button off!!!! i now realise that was a big mistake as when it restarted i was getting a whole load of error message with missing .dll files and not being able to do a lot of things so i tried undoing the restore but it wouldn't allow it as it said restore was still running, i also tried a different restore point but it wouldn't allow that either... I then tried the repair computer options at the boot menu but it didn't work either so I thought i might as well just restore it to factory settings as she hadn't had it long enough to have put much on it anyway.... the recovery disk gets to 32% and then spits the disk out with this message Failed to restore disk from the Asus Recovery DVD Error code is :-3 I have tried it a few times and this is what happens each time, i have also tried just putting the next disk in (3rd out of 4) but it just reboots and wants to start the whole process again.I have the number to call asus support but they are closed today, also the recovery disks are not supplied by the manufacturer but instead on initial start up you are asked to make your own but i didn't do that as my cousin has the exact same laptop so I used his disks..

There raises a flag that I have to make a Backup. I thought and read this is a well worked out function in Windows 7, let's try !
But as you expect and the reason why I'm here, there is a difficulty.
The function wants to backup 2 hard drives (C: and H:) and I can't uncheck H:. C: is my windows disk and H: is my disk where I keep movies and stuff . I don't want to backup H: . I only want to back up C:!
What I read on several places is that Windows 7 Automatically selects the drivers which contains System files (in the back up function he calls H: a system disk). In Disk Management it also says Disk H: System/Active/Primary Partition.
I am for sure I installed Windows 7 on C:. I didn't do anything on H:.
Also an other thing I found out is that MSE uses the biggest drive for downloading updates and installing the updates (use it as source). But I don't know if that is the reason it is called a system disk.
I want to make my backup this way, how can I only make a backup of C:
can I jump in and ask how a recovery disc is made for my new Asus UX31E when obviously there is no DVD drive. The inbuilt tutorial has no info

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy asus eee pc 1005p netbook's hard disk 250 gb was broken so it was replaced by a new 160 gb hard disk and install windows 7 ultimate on it. everything went fine except for my touch pad and intel VGA. I already tried to download and install different programs: For the touchpad: from ASUS website download: ETDWare setup application (ETD8_0_5_3_ps2drv_WHQL and TP-S-13_2_6_1) and also Synaptic (Synaptics_v14_0_16) but still the touchpad won't work!
And for the intel VGA: VGA-TNM10-V8_14_10_1929_Win7, VGA-V8_14_10_2117 both from ASUS download center Intel_VGA_Pineview_Driver_V814_10_2364_for_W7 from intel download center I wanted my touchpad to work and improve my VGA..
My System was working fine yesterday.I turned it off and came back today and tried turning it on.It took the System to Automatic Repair and got stuck there
- When ii restarted it. it said "Select a proper Boot Device"
- I Booted into BIOS and it stopped getting Detected
- I reseated the HDD and it was getting detected again
- I took it out and connected a friends system and checked
- It took a while to Start his OS.
- Then In Computer Management my hdd being shown as "931.2Gb Unallocated"
- How to get it Back..
- I have 6+ years photographs on it.
- But not aware which option should i use so i can recover my data back.
- It is a western Digital 1TB HDD
