Feb 24, 2012I run windows 7 enterprise as an administrator and I want to make use of applocker. So I start the local security policy, enable applocker and create the default rules. If all is correct I should not be able to run executables in for example "D:Applicationsquickpar" but unfortunately I can. I even create a rule which explicitly blocks "D:Applicationsquickparquickpar.exe", however I can still run it. I even got the application identity service running, so I don't know what is wrong.

Jun 3, 2011I 've Windows 7 basically extracted files. I have tired to put it on a dvd and burn it, burning process was fairly easy I thought I've a bootable DVD now.Then I tired it in a desktop computer and set to boot from CD.To my disappointment it did not boot from CD. But when when normally I put it in DVD and and run from Desktop it works pretty well but then there is another problem it has no options as when the normally windows DVD has when they are bootable. So installation works it simply replaced the older files with new one and a folder is created for older files.What i want is bootable DVD so I can use it to format and Install fresh copy.

After trying to find a friend with one, I ended up trying to make a bootable thumb drive using the Windows 7 bootable USB drive utility and my father's computer, and every single time I've tried to do it, it gives an error right at the end about bootsect.exe saying it isn't bootable.
Asus P5QL-VM, Intel Core 2 Duo q9300, 4gb (2x2gb) ram, seagate SATA hard drive of some sort, GEForce 9800GTX+ gpu.
Unable To Get On The Internet At All And Wi-Fi Signal Can Never Make It Above Two Bars?
Mar 28, 2012Okay, so I got a new computer recently and it worked great on my campus' Wi-Fi network for about a week. Then all of a sudden the stability of my connection dropped down to nothing. For the past several days, I have barely been able to get on the Internet at all and my Wi-Fi signal can never make it above two bars. My roommates' computers and my own MacBook and iOS devices have no problems at all.This problem has been driving me crazy because the primary purpose of this new computer is multiplayer gaming, which of course is the one thing it CAN'T do is play online games. Can anyone think of any client-side reason why the Wi-Fi on a brand new computer would just spontaneously combust, or is this just something I need to talk about with the network administration on my campus?

Sep 13, 2010So, after going through every trick in the book, I was unable to make browsing happen on a 64bit Windows 7 (any and every browser would randomly hang the system completely), so my only option was to switch to 32bit.The first installation failed and got stuck in a black screen with a frozen cursor. After a restart the installer told me I could continue the installation after a reset, so I did that, only to be greeted with the same message. This happened over and over a few times, so I figured it's not going to work and I'll have to make a fresh install. Then something mysterious happens and I'm not yet sure what exactly happened. In any case, the end result was that I still had some of my 64bit installation remaining including some files I downloaded while trying to make it work in addition to my 32bit installation on my other drive (which I was not planning on formatting). The only explanation I can come up with is that I somehow managed to format the wrong drive, not once, but twice.
And this is where my current problem begins. I'd very much like to format the drive with the 64bit stuff, but Windows won't let me. I've tried doing it from the command prompt but it says "Access Denied as you do not have sufficient privileges. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode." I'm the system admin! How can I not have sufficient privileges? And what is "elevated mode"? Ok, so on we go to the Disc Manager. This time I'm greeted with "Windows cannot format the system partition on this disk.".Actually, now that I think about it, I suppose booting from the CD might do the trick. Still, for some reason the installer takes its time starting (was much faster in for the 64bit version) and I'm getting tired of playing with the boot order, anyway.So, I'm wondering if there is any way to format a disc with system files from another Windows installation without going through the CD boot.

Jul 31, 2012I'm trying to move a file from my desktop to a folder on my Hard Drive (Internal) but everytime i attempt to do this it says, "Window's Can't Create a Shortcut here, do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?". This have never happened to me before and frankly I'm a little perplexed at why this is happening.

I always get a black screen after launching COD5 however if you wait a few moments the black screen goes away and the game plays fine from that point forward.

Remote Procedure Call Failed And Did Not Execute
Aug 23, 2011When I insert USB Drive, the folder just load but its not opening at all, plus all the icon was gone. I have done scans for both malware and antivirus but none found. The only solution for this is when I remove the drive and restart the pc. I also experience this when sorting items without the usb inserted. After this problem I often get "The remote procedure call failed and did not execute." Which restart is the only option.

Jan 7, 2012I have installed the origonal COD - Game of the Year on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit based PC. The game plays great until I get to the "Soviet Union" missions. Then it exits stating "CODSP.exe has stopped responding". I've searched for answers and tried several suggestions like running as Administrator, Normal, and Safe Mode but no joyIt always stops when loading in the Soviets.....and always works fine up to that point. The CD is in like new condition. When Re-opening the program, the message "COD didn't shut down properly, would you like to run in Safe Mode" comes up.....The PC is Intel D975XBX MB, XFX GT7600 video card, Intel 3 GHz Pentium D. I'm in Single Player mode and have reinstalled COD twice without renaming files.

I have tried a few fixes like starting up in compatability mode and changing the sound to 44100 and 48k but they dont work. Occasionally when I play around enough it will work but next time I try to play it is back to crashing.
