I an unable to make my floppy drive work on my new computer with windows 7 64 bit. I know there is a card made in England named Catweasel that is supposed to do the job, but they are hard to come by.

If all is correct I should not be able to run executables in for example "D:Applicationsquickpar" but unfortunately I can. I even create a rule which explicitly blocks "D:Applicationsquickparquickpar.exe", however I can still run it. I even got the application identity service running, so I don't know what is wrong.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently bought a new motherboard (old one died), and didn't realize that it had no IDE port on it for easy Windows 7 re-installation (my only available dvd drive is still IDE). After trying to find a friend with one, I ended up trying to make a bootable thumb drive using the Windows 7 bootable USB drive utility and my father's computer, and every single time I've tried to do it, it gives an error right at the end about bootsect.exe saying it isn't bootable.
Asus P5QL-VM, Intel Core 2 Duo q9300, 4gb (2x2gb) ram, seagate SATA hard drive of some sort, GEForce 9800GTX+ gpu.
I require a 3.5 inch floppy drive on my computer. However, whenever I select it in explorer, it starts to read the disk, then says it's not formatted, or puts up a please insert disk notice.

When i connected it to other computer it not worked and then when i connected it to my PC again it's not working. When i connect floppy it says nothing. I tried to update disk drivers with Computer Management and it says that my drivers are up to date. I tried to uninstall drivers and than install it again and that's not working. BIOS and Computer Management can see the floppy drive, but Win Explorer can't see floppy. What should i do to access my floppy and my files?

The windows portion of the boot went to approx 5 times what it was. I have disabled all the boot devices except the hard drive and have uninstalled the driver that Windows 7 installed when I plugged in the floppy.Runs fine after the boot.

Go into your BIOS and set it to disable the floppy controller. The BIOS will tell Windows (any version of Windows) that a floppy drive is present, even if none is hooked up, if the floppy controller is enabled.
The bios is detecting all of them but Windows 7 is not. The floppy's power is on all the time and it is enabled in the bios. My 3rd hard drive is not being detected, however I did delete some windows 7 files and it was working before that. And I have no idea about my dvd drive. My other drive is working though.

Set up a virtual machine of Windows 98 (preferably 98 SE) using something like VirtualBox (ensure you have a copy of Windows 98 handy as well...). Install and play from there.
If your not going to use a Floppy Drive in your Computer you can disable it and ger rid of the Floppy Drive icon that sits in my computer.
Right click on my computer and select properties. In the hardware tab select 'Device Manager'. In the device manager there should be an expandable menu labelled 'Floppy disk controllers', expand this and you should see something like 'Standard floppy disk controller' right click on this and click disable. If at some time you do need to use a Floppy Drive you can re-able it.
For some reason my USB floppy drive is not found or recognized in Win 7 64 bit, it was working but not anymore. Can't find it in Computer Management-Disk Management but it is listed in Devices and shows no conflicts.

The drive does not appear in My Computer, I have tried troubleshooting the device, uninstalling it and re-installing it and trying to install other drivers to resolve the issue (windows will not accept others as it already has the best driver apparently...). I'm at a loss now I have even tried using drivermax to correct the problem but even that does not recognise the device.To ensure it wasn't an issue with the Floppy drive itself I have even tried using another, with the same result.

Even after the file is closed, the floppy light is still on an clicking, like it's reading the disc still. The drive itself is OK. - Download the 'Windows Mobile Device Center' ( current version is 6.1 ) which you can download it from url...this works for both Vista and Windows 7. I've tried it on both.
- Install the downloaded software but it may not look like it worked on Windows 7 PCs. Vista automatically configures the settings on the bluetooth devices but for those who have Windows 7, here are the things you should do:
- Go to 'Device Manager' from 'Control Panel' -Or- just right-click on Computer Icon and choose 'Properties' and then click on 'Device Manager'.
- You'll see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'
- Right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software" -Or- anyway you find it easy to bring up the Update driver window.
- Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button.
- Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".
- Select 'Bluetooth Radio' from the list if it asked you to select and then in the next window, it will show a list of drivers with Company Names in one list and Drivers in another. In the Company List choose 'Microsoft Corporation', not only Microsoft.
- From the drivers list there may be one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different driver versions. Select one or the latest.
- Ignore any warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last. If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is successfully installed.
Now, after manually updating the driver for your bluetooth device, in 'Device Manager' when you click on 'Bluetooth Radios', it should display one more item which will say 'Windows Mobile-based device support'.There are few more things that you want to pay attention to. If you have already added the device in your 'bluetooth device list' that didn't work, then remove the device and add it again. After you add it, you might need to restart the computer if it gave you a connection problem error message. Every PCs that had Windows 7 and Vista worked after installing this software and I hope it will work for you too.
