I recently received a call from an Unknown number. The person was claiming that he was from Windows Technical Team. I don't know from where did he get my phone number and email address. He told me that my computer is affected with Malware and suspicious viruses. He told me to check the following folder in "Computer Management" window: EventViewer->WindowsLogs->Applications.There I see lot of red color errors icon listed and he told me that my personal information is going out of my computer online, like my passwords, documents etc.
Having successfully done lots of partitioning on our 2 Acer Timeline laptops (with Partition Wizard 4.2) I tried to do the same with our HP Pavilion laptop. I have not had a blue screen since using Win2000, but when Partition Wizard had finished its tasks, that's what I got .
Luckily the machine seemed to boot so I hope everything will be fine but I noticed that my reserved system partition was 200mb rather than the 100mb on the other two machines. Seeing as only 25mb is used, that seemed rather a waste of space.
I loaded the Windows Disk Manager and thought it would be a good idea to reduce the partition to 100mb but then I immediately got 100mb of unallocated space sitting between the reserved system partition and the OS partition.
"No problem" I thought as I had not committed any changes. Wrong! On subsequently viewing the disks in both Windows Disk Manager & Partition Wizard I still have unallocated space that I can't seem to do anything with. What is even more confusing is that when I look at the properties of the reserved partition, it still shows 200mb, but that's not what the disk manager shows in it's graphical representation of the drives.
So my questions are:
a) Should I have not tried to reduce the 200mb to 100mb and is this likely to cause any problems?
b) How can I re-allocate the space somewhere? Even in Partition Wizard I can't seem to do anything with it and that includes trying to extend the reserved system partition back into it.
I am a bit nervous now as I don't want to corrupt the reserved system partition in case the whole thing stops booting.
Bought Call of Duty World at War on steam a few days ago and have been having a lot of trouble trying to play. The game crashes at start up. I have tried a few fixes like starting up in compatability mode and changing the sound to 44100 and 48k but they dont work. Occasionally when I play around enough it will work but next time I try to play it is back to crashing.
I switched out motherboards. MS no longer recognizes my key as valid. I've been looking for a phone number for product activation but I haven't been able to find one.
that will farward an incoming phone call to another number. I guess I'd need two phone lines (One for the incoming call and one for the outgoing call) which would be no problem. My phone company offers farwarding but I need to log and record all the calls and so I actually need the calls to be routed via a PC in my office.
i didnt know where to put this thread. Anyways, when i try to instal Call of Duty 2 on my windows 7 i get an error that says Library not registered, and i have to go to Task manager to close it. CoD2 is original, no cracked **** and i downloaded the evaluation copy of Windows 7 from microsoft.

I see a lot of complaints about games black screening. This has more than one form and one form of it is due to improper video drivers so we will put that aside.
I always get a black screen after launching COD5 however if you wait a few moments the black screen goes away and the game plays fine from that point forward.
Does anyone know the cause and/or a solution to the black screen issue?
When I insert USB Drive, the folder just load but its not opening at all, plus all the icon was gone. I have done scans for both malware and antivirus but none found. The only solution for this is when I remove the drive and restart the pc. I also experience this when sorting items without the usb inserted. After this problem I often get "The remote procedure call failed and did not execute." Which restart is the only option.
still trying to connect my thinkpad to Windows 7. I found this Configuring Incoming Connections - Windows 7 TutorialBut using netsh ras show activeservers, I get none which probably explains why Windows 7 is not ansing the "phone".Phone in quotes, as I'm using a null modem wire. Objective: connect win98se to Windows 7 sp2, via a nullmodem cable, to share the internet.
I have installed the origonal COD - Game of the Year on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit based PC. The game plays great until I get to the "Soviet Union" missions. Then it exits stating "CODSP.exe has stopped responding". I've searched for answers and tried several suggestions like running as Administrator, Normal, and Safe Mode but no joyIt always stops when loading in the Soviets.....and always works fine up to that point. The CD is in like new condition. When Re-opening the program, the message "COD didn't shut down properly, would you like to run in Safe Mode" comes up.....The PC is Intel D975XBX MB, XFX GT7600 video card, Intel 3 GHz Pentium D. I'm in Single Player mode and have reinstalled COD twice without renaming files.
I have bought a Dell Inspiron N5110 recently in Feb 2012, with following specifications: i7 processor, 750 GB HDD, 4GB RAM, 1GB NVidia GT525M Graphics Card. It has Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. I installed Intel Graphics driver and the nvidia graphics driver version given along with the laptop. (Version 268.30)
After installation in my Device manager there are two graphic cards shown: 1) Intel HD Graphics Family 2) NVIDIA GeForce GT 525 M
The NVIDIA GeForce shows as Code 43 error stating "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" in Device status. When I tried opening the NVIDIA control panel it says "You are currently not using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU". Then I installed Call of Duty - MW3 Game and the performance of the game is not so great. I visited nvidia website and searched for graphics driver updates and found the newer version (296.10).
I downloaded and installed it. This time the Code 43 error didn't happen and the control panel also is working. But after installing new driver, I tried playing the game again and this time the system gave the BSOD error. I tried changing the settings so that my game takes only the NVIDIA processor but still it gave BSOD error while modifying the settings in NVIDIA control panel.
Then I tried the following combinations and none worked: 1) Intel Graphics + NVIDIA old version - Code 43 error 2) Intel Graphics + NVIDIA new version - BSOD error 3) Intel Graphics Disabled + NVIDIA any version - Bad graphics with 800 X600 resolution. Game didn't even start. 4) Intel Graphics uninstalled + NVIDIA any version - Bad graphics with 800 X600 resolution. Game didn't even start.
Even my HD movies/half HD movies in my laptop stutter sometimes and I have no clue why it happens. My Laptop is still under warranty and I would like to know what should be the solution for my problem. Please find attached memory dump description folder as mentioned in the rules. I tried generating the performance report but it gave an error stating "error in generating the report".
I keep getting the The Remote Procedure Call Failed and did not execute error when opening my control panel or windows explorer on Windows 7.I've made sure the RPC is on and that the second service is on manual so that isn't the problem.
when i call my friends on skype, they hear everything i hear through my headphones. if i listen to music on Internet, it shows up as microphone input in skype audio settings. i have changed possibly all of the sound settings both in skype and the control panel.
i don't know what sound card i have, nor the name of the software. if needed, how do i find these?
During a Skpe Video call, with myself and others, his video will freeze, then the Skype video will close and restart. This will occur periodically (and frequently). When it happens HIS SKYPE AUDIO IS UNINTERRUPTED.Now this was happening when he was running Vista. His setup (incomplete but I can get the rest...)
Windows 7 x64 HP Pavilion m9250f Quad 4GB RAM Logitech Video Camera (C210?) Hauppauge Tuner Onboard Realtek Audio
Not sure what to look for on this one to narrow the field of possibilities down. I suspect a conflict in resources (interrupts, etc) but it could be something else.It is almost as if something is waking on schedule... "It's ALIVE!"He has tried an uninstall of the Logitech webcam and Skype and a "clean" re-install per Logitech's guidelines. No luck.Searched the internet. Lots of problems with Skype, et al, causing BSODs and/or system shutdowns, etc but could not find one where it was JUST the Skype video restarting while the audio remained connected and uninterrupted
I have a very high ping while playing call Of duty I set my priority to low through the task manager and it helped some but still I get this awful skip lag thing. I live in a building where the internet is provided for me and I cant access the router configuration to change the NAT from strict.
