My system undergoes startup repair everytime i start my computer and after a long process of searching for problems it restarts and the same startup repair problem arises. It also displays the message "This may be caused due to a recent change in any hardware or software of the system". I hv infact installed windows 2-3 times since this prblm started bt still this problem arises.

We just had some very heavy rains with lightening and my computer shut down several times, but I could restart it each time...except for the last time when Windows wouldn't startup. At that point, Start Up Repair came into play. I recently downloaded a damaged file, which caused my computer (not this one) to be unable to start up normally. The computer now boots up in Startup repair, which is unable to repair my computer "automatically" and when I then click "View advanced options for system recovery and support" and go to the "System restore" tab and choose a Date and time for the restoration, it tells me that "There is not enough free space to restore the disk". I seem to have no options to try and sort out the missing space on the harddisk, which should be unnecessary because I am pretty sure there is still alot of disk space on the C.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi got a hp pavillion running windows 7 i was installing the windows update and pressed restart now, after this the force restart thing came up but i pressed cancel and it didnt like this, after 2 minutes of program errors it restarted and went straight into startup repair. running it on normal mode doesnt work and safe mode is not available. when it runs startip repair it wont fix anything and tells me to restore, i can get to the windows restore part and have restore points but they do not work and an error is shown, x8000xffff if i remember correctly.

I have tried inserting the installation disk and accessing the Repair Computer but it presents an incompatibility error.
I have no F8 menu at all, (no safe mode, which I can't access anyway because the computer can't set up for first use).
My Sony vaio just turned off last week and wont boot up. It turns on an flashes Sony vaio but that's all. I made a recovery disk and I can get into bios so I tried booting from internal disk and tried startup repair got nothing, tried system restore for every restore point and none will finish. Took each piece of ram out an tried starting it up to see if bad ram was the problem and it starts the same way. I also tried the restore from previous image but I have no image. I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".

View 4 Replies View Relatedi use ubuntu OS and windows7 professional on an HP dv5 notebook, last week i made a mistake in that i removed the battery while the machine was on as i was using windows7. the time i tried to restart it again it recommended startup repair which ran but 'could not repair it automatically' i tried the f8 options but to no avail. when i run scan and memory diagnostics all are successful but the system can still boot. am able to view my data on windows through ubuntu but ubuntu can't execute windows programs. what should i do to restore windows without loosing data?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?
I couldn't find Windows 7 Repair Disc / Repair System / rewrite MBR for x64?
View 1 Replies View RelatedCreated it with no problems, apparently at least. My BIOS is set to boot from CD drive, so why won't my machine boot from the system repair disk? There were no errors when disk was created. My machine just boots to windows.

the Startup screen. So I went to the Startup repair tool as was recommended, but after few tries nothing has changed. So I tried to recover to previous recovery point, but also nothing. Then I tried booting to Safe mode, and I saw that during the loading process there was no file shown as succesfully loaded. I might also know what could be the cause of this problem, because yesterday when I was shutting Win down, there was a blackout so obviusly some files are corrupted.

I'm using my other built right now coz I have to work. I don't remember what updates I did last night but I do remember the dvd drive firmware was updated.I popped in the system restore disc, start it up and the same page appears: Start with windows start up or Start windows normally. Tried both and neither one of them would bring up system restore. This built was only a month old and was hardly used so far so no system restore point was created at this point. I have files in it that I would like to keep but I can't get to them right now so a clean fresh install is needed but I can't get it up.
I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 that just shut down & now will not boot Windows 7. Just goes to black screen w/blinking cursor then goes to 'startup repair' (which I'm postiive this is a virus of somekind) & will not allow me to do anything. Just repeats itself. I downloaded Windows 7 repair to a CD-R, chgd BIOS settings to CD/DVD to boot first, saved changes, and will NOT pull/boot up from disc. I've tried 2diff repair discs, both do not work. 'F8' does not do anything for me, not able to get to 'safe mode'. Computer is only 2yrs old.

Lately whenever i try to start my computer it pass the Dell Bios and then directly goes to the screen which states
Repair your system or Start windows normally When i chose repair system , it start downloading windows files and then launch the windows , but hung up at the sky blue login window with only movable cusor . When i choose to start windows normally it gives me BSOD momentarly ( hard to see the message) and then restarts again . i tried with the advanced boot up options like
repair my computer , all safe modes , restore to last good configuration but it does the same and hangs at windows loging sky blue window .I Tried to run the Dell PSA+ Diagnostic and it returns with 2000-0146 error . Every 5 min or so the computer restarts and the Startup Repair continues. I've tried to stop it during the startup with alt F2 but I don't get any choices such as Safe Start, only Start Windows Normally.

I tried to run a scan in the command promt window but it said that another repair was running and the computer needs to be restated which i did and the whole thing just starts over again. I dont want to lose any of my pics so i dont want to have to reinstall anything
Whilst looking for a keygen for Microsoft Office 2010, I must have got a bad file.. yay. When I clicked on the app, my computer immediately went to the Startup Repair window and has been relentless. I've tried opening in SafeMode thru F8 for a system restore, no good. And attempted to start windows normally through F12.
Finally, the Startup mode is over and I'm attempting to turn it back on ... and we're right back into Startup Repair.

Here is the problem: i was trying to uninstall the trial version of office 2010 (after failing to activate it properly) and after going into control panel and clicking on "uninstall" to remove the office 2010 software, the computer automatically shut down and restarted and went into startup repair. after running this a couple of times, it said it was unable to fix the problems and asked to send the report to microsoft. then it just shut off by itself. i turned it back on and chose to "start windows normally." even then it went into startup repair and was again unable to fix the problems. then it just became stuck with a blank screen so i had to force power off. now i am not sure what to do. i don't want to keep restarting it only to go into startup repair and burn something out by turning it on and off so frequently.
