Jan 15, 2012I recently downloaded a damaged file, which caused my computer (not this one) to be unable to start up normally. The computer now boots up in Startup repair, which is unable to repair my computer "automatically" and when I then click "View advanced options for system recovery and support" and go to the "System restore" tab and choose a Date and time for the restoration, it tells me that "There is not enough free space to restore the disk". I seem to have no options to try and sort out the missing space on the harddisk, which should be unnecessary because I am pretty sure there is still alot of disk space on the C.

Sep 27, 2012At my school, every time you shut down the computer it wipes all user data (I believe) from the primary drive (or partition). So, every time the computer is started the primary drive/partition reverts to whatever restore point the IT department has set. I would like to do this to my personal computer, but the question is how? Is it something I can set the task scheduler to do? By doing some research I found that I can (not that I want to) create a new restore point at every start up with task scheduler, so it seems only logical that I can load a restore point of my choice at every start up without having to physically go into system restore at every start up.
I have 2x 600GB WD Velociraptors in RAID 0 configuration divided into 2 partitions. The (primary) C: contains Windows 7 Pro x64 and related files and the (secondary) G: has everything else (i.e. all of my developer tools, games, and misc files that all have a scheduled back up onto an external). I would like the C: to revert to the restore point of my choice at every start up. If it is a "simple" script to perform this task...great! But, if it requires extreme diligence (like an entire IT department to maintain)... forget it, it's not that big of a deal.

My startups are way faster now but not as good as they used to be, after 10 minutes of using my computer everything becomes really fast like the old times but I would like to have this speed right at the start up because I know it's possible.

Apr 23, 2012I spilt some water on my laptop a few days ago but fortunately it's completely dried out and working perfectly.... apart from this minor (but important) issue.
Problem: the system time does not stay correct. Even after manually updating the BIOS time and also even after manually syncing it with the various servers available under the time options.
Fix: set the internet time sync interval to every minute rather than its default setting? How do I do this?
P.S. This couldn't be a CMOS battery issue surely because even when the system is on and plugged in the system time still deviates from correct. (I assume the CMOS battery is only used when the system is powered off.) If I need it replaced, how does that sit with my Dell hardware warranty?
PC Restores To A Recovery Point All By Itself?
Jan 30, 2012I have a PC with win 7 pro 64 bit which has been working fine for months. A few days ago, I fired up the PC and noticed an old wallpaper and some application icons in the desktop were missing and some that I had deleted suddenly back there. I looked at the restore points and there are none older than a few weeks, but this particular config is 8 months old. When I try and restore to a more recent recovery point I get an error message telling me that there is an invalid parameter.I rebooted the PC and all was well again for a day but now it has reverted to the old config and nothing seems to shift it.My data is intact ( backed up as well ) but I am at a loss as to a) what to do next and b) what caused this problem

May 18, 20112 Days ago my desktop running windows 7 ultimate 64- bits suddenly crashed, showing nothing but a black screen a bit less than a minute after starting up a game. A few seconds later my computer automatically rebooted and the repair tool launched. After it was done I took a look at the report and all it could find that was broken was ci.dll, the same as in previously mentioned topic. I ran CHKDSK and scf /scannow after that, but they couldnt fix anything or find any bad sectors. I could not boot windows unless i disabled driver signing as well, however I never get any BSOD's. My system is also a bit slower as well, but not that slow. After looking at the previously mentioned topic i downloaded FRTS64 and ran it as well, I've attached the log. (No, I did not run the code that you warned not to use on a different system and on a different machine )I'm also experiencing the same browser issues. When i enter an invalid URL I'm being forwarded to the url... website, my ISP. Also the first two times I tried to open my browser nothing happened. I waited about 15 seconds, tried again and then it opened.
I think it might be a virus as well, im using P2P a lot as well though i havent downloaded anything weird in a long while. My last 100-ish downloads (all fansubs for 2 anime series) have all come from the same site which i trust. however i did recently download a patch for a game, but that came from a site that is also used very frequently, and i havent heard of anything similar from friends/friendly gamers who downloaded the same patch.
