Monitor Wont Display Properly When Using The Dvi Leads
Dec 8, 2009
my problem is without using this tutorial when i add the dvi leads to the monitor and connect on back of pc it loads up but when playing music videos it tends to refresh continously and can never watch a video clip properly. the correct drivers are in there as well..
So now i have a 22inch lcd monitor screen that wont display properly when using the dvi leads..
the display/monitor uses the generic driver for display and it is 1024×768 or 800x600 but it looks very odd it should be bigger because my screen is bigger. I have a acer monitor but is there something I can download to fix the display size?
I have all of my folders on my D drive set to be network accessible by everyone on the network, mostly so I can share them with my laptop. It's not very secure, but that's not the problem I'm having here. I recently changed some of the organization of the folders on the drive, which included changing folder names. As a result, I had to reshare them. All of that worked out fine and I've been able to access them. However, if I go to my D drive through "My Computer" I see all the old folder names with the old folder contents. I have to go to "My Network Places" and click on my PC's Location (while on my PC) in order to access the new folders.
I'm running Windows 7 and it's all been dandy up until today. Windows has started giving me problems with my user accounts where there were no problems before. There are two accounts on my computer. I have the admin account as I own the computer, the other account is a standard account that my roommate uses. Today I turned the computer on, and on the screen where it would generally show the two icons for the two accounts, it only showed mine in large. Below there was a button saying "switch user", and I clicked on it. Then the screen showed two icons, one of which was mine. The other was blank and simply said 'other user' underneath, where it should have said "Krysta" and shown her chosen icon. I tried clicking on it, and it asked me for account name and password, which I gave, and it then took me to her account. Then I tried to switch back to my own, and the screen now only shows Krystas icon. When I click "switch user" underneath it, I get the same blank icon beside it, and have to enter my account name and passowrd again to get back to my account. So, windows will only display one account at a time, and I'm not sure why.

i've finally got the system up and running.lm using the same gfx card as l used to the Radeon 4650 HD after installing the cards drivers it seems to cause issues where the monitor gives me an "unsupported" resolution error when on my previous setup said card had no trouble going to 1350*768 (cant seem to go above 1024*768 without having to roll back drivers)
and everything works fine besides my monitor. I can only get 800 x 600 or lower. I bought on new monitor and downloaded its software but the same problem happened. What can I do to fix this
Here is a video of what happens: [URL]. Whenever I try to game longer than 10 minutes on this rig I just built, my PSU starts flickering like a strobe light and then my computer freezes. Sometimes it will display a random color though out the whole screen, or just go black. I have checked all my temperatures when this occurs and they are all well below average. I have ALL the latest drivers/windows updates. In this case like many others, my screen goes black for a few seconds but then recovers, only to have terrible FPS (I usually get 80+).

For some reason Windows 7 (Home Premium, 64-bit) has recently stopped displaying Unicode characters correctly. I know its a Windows issue, not specific to a certain program, because the problem appears on Asian characters and symbols like the stars in my song ratings across various programs like foobar2000, Mp3Tag, and iTunes. I don't think they work anywhere; I just happen to notice their absences (replaced by ugly square placeholders) in my media-related programs. One interesting thing is that restoring my default font settings via Control Panel appears to fix the problem every other time I restart (ie, I might be able to get Unicode working correctly if I always restore the default font settings before restarting or rebooting my PC - but that is heinously annoying).
The only possible cause I can think of is that I have had some programs to modify the Windows UI such as GDI++ to make the fonts Mac-like (decided ClearType was better rather quickly :P) and pieces of Stardock's suite including programs like WindowsBlinds, IconPackager, etc. I somewhat recently uninstalled all of them, but I didn't notice the problem right away, so I am not sure if they have anything to do with it.
I'm having a problem when my computer shuts down. It seems to just freeze on the "Shutting Down..." screen. After manually shutting down I get this as a popup when I log in again:
Code: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
I have 2 displays, 1 is a TV 3 meters away hooked up to my graphics card via HDMI and the other other is obviously my PC monitor. I was hoping there would be a way to have sound exclusively on the TV while I have seperate audio on my monitor?Sorry it's a bit hard to explain. Basically I want to play a game on my PC with my headphones on while a film is playing on the TV, but if I try it atm the game shows on my monitor while the film is playing, but the sound of both is coming out of the TV.Graphics card is a HD6870, using Windows 7 x64.
I just got a new 9800gtx+ . i have a 22" AOC lcd screen. whenever i start my pc , the motherboard screen appears but when the windows loading screen comes my monitor shows the message input not supported I have updated my drivers and checked fastpccheck.weebly.com. but no help. After that screen the user login screen comes to display and then everything is normal. i cant figure out what is making the problem.
my laptop looks like it has a massive problem. i have been on various forums for advice but unable to solve - this is the problem
* it turns on & I CAN get into advanced menus
* it will not repair itself no matter what
* it will not go into any other modes , safe Etc....therefore I cannot restore to factory settings etc....
* ive Tried all tricks such as F8, Alt & F11 etc..... to get into advanced menu settings - all lead to the black screen
* everything i click on enter leads to a black screen - only a white curser appears.
its as if there is no way of accessing the computer disc/ hard drive in anyway from boot up. there is clearly a hardware problem but i cannot access anything internal beyond ordinary & advanced menus i just keep being led to the black screen & no activity. the menus work & that is all.
I have a ATI Radeon 7500 and i can't let windows 7 Build 7600 find it. It says under display monitor its a Standard VGA graphics adapter. I'm getting really annoyed because i can't play counter-strike...and i installed many different drivers for it but it just doesn't work. and i also wanted the Control Center but idk how as well. I upgraded today to windows 7 from XP...and dumb me didnt backup ANYTHING after a full clean wipe. So im getting really agitated and not patient about it. please help!!
and as well with my monitor display says Generic pnp Monitor and i can't find the drivers for my monitor anywhere! even on the gateway site. I have a 19" Gateway LE HD widescreen.
The only way I could shut acer down was unpluging my computer. The moniter said "no something, I'm sorry but I forget. Is there a way with the keyboard to shut it down? I called my provider and they said it was a moniter or card problem, but it works good since i plugged it back in. I have window 7.
So, I got a Benq G2400WD and a 32 inch LCD TV connected to my computer, to my ati 4890 graphic card, and i wonder if i could set a different font size/dpi on my LCD TV than whats on the Benq?
In Windows CP Display Settings (and in Nvidia CP) my left/main display is 1 and right is 2. In Windows CP Color Management the left is 2 and the right is 1. I would ignore this except that at least a couple applications now open on opposite displays. One is a monitor color calibration program (which also identifies them reversed) and the other a Raw Image Converter. And I don't trust that the calibration program loads the profiles separately. This happened after I reinstalled Nvidia video drivers trying to fix random bsod from firefox and IE8 - which seems to have worked.
I have an external monitor, actually a TV connected via S-Video cable coming out of the back of my video card. My TV is my second desktop. All of that is fine. The problem comes in when I log off or "switch users" (there are no other user profiles on my computer - I only log off or switch user to make sure the kids can't get on without my permission - they don't know my logon code), the TV loses the picture and goes grainy, but when I log back in, the TV does not "kick in" again. The only way to get the TV to display the second desktop after logging out or switching users seems to be to restart the computer entirely. If it reboots, it picks up the TV as second monitor again.
If you simply log in again, it does not pick up the TV as second monitor. Is this related to some setting that says the TV should only be the second monitor on the admin's account and not for "all users" or something? It is annoying to always be restarting my computer to watch a video on my TV. By the way, in all cases, the "Display" settings in control panel show the TV as the second monitor. But looking at the actual TV, all you see is a grainy screen that obviously is not being fed any clear signal.
i have a Sapphire hd 7850 graphics card and two monitors connected to it one hdmi one dvi-d. both screens are showing the same image and when i go into screen resolution it shows only one "generic PnP montitor". this was a fresh install of windows seven and it did work before that. the driver for the graphics card is saying "standard VGA adaptor" is this normal
Can't get monitor to display same resolution between 2 workspaces - Microsoft Community Copy/paste of text in OP (posted Nov 21, 2012): Ok, so here's my setup:HP EliteBook 6930p with ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics card. Win 7 Pro 32 bit installed.I have 2 workspaces, both with docking stations.Workspace 1 (primary work site) had 24" wide (primary monitor) and 19" wide monitors.Resolutions that Windows let me set were 1920x1080 and 1440x900, respectively. These monitors were also hooked to the docking station via DVI and VGA cables, respectively.Workspace 2 had a 19" standard monitor (1280x1024, VGA, set as primary) and then I would open the laptop beside it for the dual monitor (1280x800).Today I have pulled the 19" wide from workspace 1 to replace the 19" standard at workspace 2. Windows, however, will only let me set the resolution to 1280x720 (still using VGA). Even taking off the "hide modes" option or going into the ATI Catalyst Control center to try and force it does not work. I've also tried switching between which one is primary or even making it single monitor display (on the 19" wide). 1440x900 is simply not available.
Windows 7 installed without any problems, and found all the hardware devices, but the only problem I have is that the monitor will only dislplay at 1920x1080. If you lower it , the monitor will not display a full screen. Tried all resolutions, and have the latest 191 drivers. Any ideas..
Windows 7 Home Premium - Fully updated as of today NVIDIA GeForce 9200 - Fully updated driver to the newest one released
When I look under windows display settings or NVIDEA settings there is not an option for a second monitor any more. There used to be. Now that I got a VGA spliter, there is not. I have tried a combination of everything from direct computer to 3 different monitors, all work perfectly, but when I attached 2 monitors with the spliter, all I get is the same image on each monitor.
When I hit detect, nothing happens, both monitors are identified as #1. Have rebooted, have updated, have done just about anything I can think of. Why would windows not show a second monitor option now?? Spliter and monitors work perfectly with the laptop and second older/slower computer. But on this better computer, faster and just should be a hell of a lot better computer, I am not getting the option for a second monitor.
The computer I'm using is older (3+ years) and has frustrated me a few times, most notably in the past 2 months.
That said, this is a new problem. My second (DVI) monitor is detected by Windows but doesn't display anything. In both the display settings and the NVIDIA control panel, I can see a second (Impression) monitor, but it's blank and I can't get it to show anything. In fact, the monitor doesn't seem to recognize that it's connected, because the orange "power but no input" light is on rather than the green "power and input" light.
This is a Windows 7 64-bit installation on a Dell Dimension E520.
I use a lap top with an external monitor. In the Display Control Panel, there are THREE monitors listed:
-The lap top -The external monitor I use -Another monitor called "No Monitor", (excellent name!).
I've configured the No Monitor to the pull down option "Disconnect This Display", but it's still there. It's not a big deal, but I was just wondering if there's a way to remove it altogether.
Well, running Windows 7 ultimate on a Dell xps m1330 laptop. Everything looks good, but at work I am connected to a matrox triple-head-to-go device which is connected to (3) 22' monitors (3840x1280 resolution). Now when I connected it, ran the nvidia app, it found it and worked great.
Problem is I get home, no external connected, so running off the laptop with the basic resolution, I am trying to start apps (firefox, stickies, etc.) and I guess they were in other spots at work as I don't see them.
I forced a close on FF, then re-started, rt clicking and maximizing which worked, but then other apps like stickies don't have that option. An alt-tab shows it running in the lower right (see screenshot), but there is absolutely no way of getting to the app! I did close the app completely and restarted, but it does restart in a location not on the screen.
I have horizontal lines that scan my monitor whenever i play a game. I can see the horizontal lines only on darker colors like grey, dark-green etc. I have a Samsung E2220 display that runs at 1080p on 60hz on a vga cable (no hdmi/dvi support on it). I tried another vga cable, i tried another power cable but with the same result.I have all drivers updated (monitor and other hardware). My current PC specs are: AsRock N68-C S UCC, Phenom II x4, 4Gb DDR3, Radeon HD7770, 500gb HDD Sata3 and a power supply Sirtec 500W 80+.If I open Far Cry 3, for example, i get those horizontal lines. If i minimize the game i still get the horizontal lines if i have something dark on my display (a grey/dark-green/dark-blue website). Before the HD7770 i had a GTS 450 and had the same problems. Could it be the PSU, or the motherboard or what? I also tried a different display monitor (on the VGA) and had the same horizontal lines scaning my display monitor.
Im having a really tough to TS problem with the reliability monitor. For the last week, it no longer displays any data and the graph dosent render.
It just display as blank with no data. Some things to note...
1. The RAC published and State data are being updated and published each day as they shouold. So the data does exist.
2. I have tried the "Resetting RAC" methods that worked for Vista. But the fix dosent work for Windows 7.
3. I cant think of anything that may have changed. I havent deleted any folders or log files.
4. I've used Process Monitor to trace the events when the reliability monitor executes and everything looks fine.
5. There are no errors or warnings in the event viewer.
6. I havent installed any Windows Updates.
So Im hoping that someone can think of something I am missing here. Oddly it used to work for some time and i ran it each day. Then all of a sudden one day it just stopped.
Could this be a permission issue possibly? I do recall changing permissions for C:UsersMeAppData. Are there any folders or logs within that path that might affect RAC? Are there any services that are required for RAC to collect and render data?
I am getting a lot of BSOD when my laptop is connected to an external monitor using a display-port cable. The system is fine when I don't use a external monitor and use just laptop screen. External monitor is a Dell 30inch. I have tried different display-port cables, different monitors, tried connecting via vga...still get BSOD, so I am thinking the problem is more on the windows 7/software side rather than hardware.
1. Uninstall AVG free edition 2011
2. Upgraded network-gigabit driver directly from intel instead of Lenovo
3a. Upgraded Nvidia drivers directly from nvidia for Quadro 1000m (ver 8.17.12.7533 - 5/20/2011) - got BSOD within 30min
3b. Downgraded Nvidia drivers to version from Lenovo (ver 8.17.12.6696 - 2/2/2011) - still get BSOD but there is more time between BSODs.
I am using a lenovo w520 laptop, win 7 SP1, x64. 8gb memory, intel 510 solid-state drive, Nvidia Quadro 1000 and Intel HD Graphics 3000, No-Anti-Virus and running zone-alarm firewall.
I got a new video card at work to install and nothing will show up when I plug it in. I can go through the computers VGA and it works fine, but when I go to the video card only a black screen. Any help? Can't download drivers either, only black screen upon boot.
This has happened to me around some months ago, when i was trying to install some games, and now, whenever i reboot my PC, the screen resolution changes. My native monitor res is: 1680x1050.But on Catalyst Control Center, whenever i reboot, the EDID would show that my max. res is 1600x1200, so i have to manually uncheck the "use extended display identification data or driver defaults" box and set the res to 1680 again.
I cant go higher than 1200 1024 i think its. I was able to run in 1600 1200 in Xp on the same monitor. In the settings it even says recommended 1600. When i try this resolution the monitor just switches of so i press escape to get back to one previous. This occurs with any resolution above 1200.
Ive been with this problem since ive had windows 7 [couple months, more] now. I thought that if i buy a newer monitor this might fix it but if i can use 1600 resolution without buying monitor just yet then that would be great.
