i have a Sapphire hd 7850 graphics card and two monitors connected to it one hdmi one dvi-d. both screens are showing the same image and when i go into screen resolution it shows only one "generic PnP montitor". this was a fresh install of windows seven and it did work before that. the driver for the graphics card is saying "standard VGA adaptor" is this normal
View 1 RepliesWell, running Windows 7 ultimate on a Dell xps m1330 laptop. Everything looks good, but at work I am connected to a matrox triple-head-to-go device which is connected to (3) 22' monitors (3840x1280 resolution). Now when I connected it, ran the nvidia app, it found it and worked great.
Problem is I get home, no external connected, so running off the laptop with the basic resolution, I am trying to start apps (firefox, stickies, etc.) and I guess they were in other spots at work as I don't see them.
I forced a close on FF, then re-started, rt clicking and maximizing which worked, but then other apps like stickies don't have that option. An alt-tab shows it running in the lower right (see screenshot), but there is absolutely no way of getting to the app! I did close the app completely and restarted, but it does restart in a location not on the screen.
I am getting a lot of BSOD when my laptop is connected to an external monitor using a display-port cable.The system is fine when I don't use a external monitor and use just laptop screen. External monitor is a Dell 30inch. I have tried different display-port cables, different monitors, tried connecting via vga...still get BSOD, so I am thinking the problem is more on the windows 7/software side rather than hardware.
1. Uninstall AVG free edition 2011
2. Upgraded network-gigabit driver directly from intel instead of Lenovo
3a. Upgraded Nvidia drivers directly from nvidia for Quadro 1000m (ver 8.17.12.7533 - 5/20/2011) - got BSOD within 30min
3b. Downgraded Nvidia drivers to version from Lenovo (ver 8.17.12.6696 - 2/2/2011) - still get BSOD but there is more time between BSODs.
I am using a lenovo w520 laptop, win 7 SP1, x64. 8gb memory, intel 510 solid-state drive, Nvidia Quadro 1000 and Intel HD Graphics 3000, No-Anti-Virus and running zone-alarm firewall.

I had the same drive before, but the other was 1 tb this is 1.5 tb and is has the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. I am running windows 8 pro, could this be it? The other one I had, which was the same, when I plugged into the router, it showed up as "readyshare". Now, there is nothing there.

Problem is that both the monitor and the TV goes to sleep after about 3 hours displaying. The splitters input connection is from a docking station from where I dock my dell laptop. View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently for the first time went over my monthly data cap for broadband and looking it to it a bit more it looks like a lot of the programs my kids are using are hogging the bandwidth. I don't really want to pay for more bandwidth (as I already pay way above average as I live in a small rural village) but I don't want to restrict too much what my kids are doing. The solution to me seems to be to see if I can monitor and if possible control to some extent the data on each of the IP connected to the router if that is at all possible. I have looked at my router settings and unfortunately they do not permit anything more than traffic monitoring and there are no custom firmwares to allows additional features of any use. Is there any software that I could use to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a netbook with a 10.1 inch screen, and a 22inch LCD display panel. When I connect my netbook to the display, the words seem too small at 1920x1080 resolution. If I set the font size to 125% or 150%, then it would be too big once i unplug my external LCD and use the netbook's 10.1 screen. Setting the 22 LCD to a lower resolution makes the text look very blurred, so that's not an option.
Is there anyway/script/program to automatically change the font size when I connect/disconnect the LCD screen?

Since switching to windows 7, dual display does not work any more, I have two monitors which I tried with the addtional main display, both of them power up with the light displayed on the monitor, but there is no input detected by the monitors.
I have swapped my graphics card now twice at pcworld 9800GT pci-e, so I know its not the graphics card. Monitors I am using have VGA connetions but have a adapter to fit into the dvi port.
One mointor I have tried is this one Octigen-Welcome to Octigen The other one is a stock flat screen I got from packard bell I have no link for that one. I have no Idea what I am not doing right, help, something in windows which is not working?

It appears from my trolling the forums that it is not an uncommon scenario. As i use my machine i see the memory monitor gadget showing more and more usaage of ram until finally i get a "not enough resources to run application" prompt.
The guy from microsoft cleared my cookies, my prefetch files, google toolbar etc without effect. He suggested that some of my optimising utilities could be the problem until i explained that i had installed the to try to CURE the problem. He finally cleared off without saying anymore and i was left a link if i wanted to resume the chat support. This link didn't work. Any comments would be great.

Anywayz, I set up the cables and all to my Toshiba 37" LCD 37HL67 and the coax to my reciever. audio is working. And even the dual monitor set-up thru Windows 7 works great. However, I am having a "desktop fitting the FULL screen" problem.
It is showing black barz top, bottom, left, and right. Not fitting the complete screen. My TV res is 1366x768. which i have win 7 set to. it seems to be the fullest on the entire screen. But not completely. It does not matter if i make it the main mont or not. Wont change. My GPU is a ASUS 4830 from Newegg(another winner ).
I do have the latest drivers and even tried to play with the CCC and started seeing problems becasue i was doing a trial and error sesh and i stopped quickly. I am not PC inept but I am not the most savy creature either. This one is beyond me at this point.
I'm having a problem with my display, it's showing as if it were in safe mode, with the icons stretched out. However, it's not in safe mode I have started it in normal mode. The resolution is showing as 1024 x 768.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy daughter is a teacher and just got a new smart board installed. She has a Epson projector hooked up and can only get duplicate as an option in Windows 7. It will not let her use the projector as an extended display. She need to be able to change resolutions on each desktop as her laptop is wide screen at 16:10 and her smart screen is 4:3 ratio. She is a math teacher and needs to be able to make correct circles and graphs on both, one has circle while the other displays an oval. I have changed the resolution and can get one or the other to work right, but not both. As far as I know the only way to have different resolutions on each is with extended display.

The program disappears, but is still in the task bar. I click on the program icon in the task bar to make it appear in the monitor, but the program shows to open on a non-existent monitor on the left of my monitor.
I have checked Display adapters in Device Manager and they are working ok. I have checked Control PanelDisplayChange Display Settings and all looks ok.
Everything has worked find until recently. No real changes, however I suspect Microsoft Windows 7 is doing some dirty tricks after I have made multiple complaints about their poor customer support on the phones.
