Laptop Not Booting Even In Safe Mode
Jun 10, 2012I cant boot my laptop even in safe mode.
View 1 RepliesI cant boot my laptop even in safe mode.
View 1 RepliesI have been getting BSOD errors whenever booting into regular mode. Safe mode is fine (I have tweaked the registry so I have sound in safe mode) My system specs are in my profile, but used Winaudit for full specs. The winaudit report in formatted text is too big for an attachment. I have 2 attachments to this post, including zipped up minidumps. Could my registry tweak for sound have something to do with this? Perfmon /report was run, but it says:
An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The system cannot find the path specified.
I have a HP Probook 4430s and under device configurations in the F12 options, what does "Numblock on at boot" mean and what does it do. I'm still having troubles booting up.I can start up in safe mode and w/networking and have been trying to figure out how why it dosn't want to work right. When I'm in safe mode everything works fine but when i shut down and try to power back up i can only do it in one of the safe modes, also it takes a really long time to even do that.So I was just wondering what Numblock on at boot ment and what it does.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed the RC build of Windows 7 as a second OS on the machine.I am finding it incredibly difficult to solve the display driver issue that I have. Currently in Device Manager my display adapter is listed as:Standard VGA Graphics AdapterI believe that, since this is occuring, any ATI graphics drivers that I try to install aren't recognising the x700 as my graphics card and so are failing to update any drivers. At the moment I'm stuck with the standard Windows display drivers which limit the resolution of the screen and disable graphics acceleration etc..If anyone has an idea of how to soI wondered whether it would have anything to do with updating chipset drivers etc...but since I've never had to do that before (and since I am still using XP on the laptop) I didn't want to start messing things up.
edit: I should add that, on my first install of Windows 7 I used Windows Update to install an 'ATI Technologies Inc. driver update for ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700' - once installed, after rebooting the screen was completely black and there was nothing I could do to get the picture back. I tried booting in low-resolution mode and safe mode but neither helped. I wondered whether it was because I had the screen set to the highest resolution possible before installing and rebooting the drivers.
Pavillion p6310y with Windows 7 Home.Is there a way to get to the recovery section of the above mentioned computer? I tried to get to the recovery from the boot up but it goes straight to the regular boot. It is infected with the W32/blaster worm
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently run into some issues on my machine that runs Windows 7. I can't run Windows Media Player; it just says the file name and then "Server Execution Failed".
I was advised to go into safe mode and type a command into cmd. However, safe mode would not work. At first I thought it was an F8 problem, so I was advised to go into msconfig > boot and change the system to boot into safe mode. I did that to find that safe mode gets into the driver loading screen and stops at windowssystem32driversClassPnP.sys and seems to load.
It shows the cursor, but then disappears and my computer reboots. However, since my computer is set to load into safe mode, it constantly tries to log into safe mode, which doesn't seem to work, so it just restarts, tries to go into safe mode, but can't, so it restarts again, going through the process again and again.
I have tried pressing "Delete" key at the beginning of boot up, but it does not show any thing else I can boot from. When I do get the F8 thing working, I select "Boot Windows Normally" but it just goes straight to the bootup of safemode.
I have an Acer Aspire M3800 that only has the factory restore discs that Acer eRecovery Management has asked me to make when I first bought my computer. I obtained Windows 7 through the "free upgrade" program Acer is running.
I have read about this problem a lot, still no solution. Windows 7 Professional is not booting in normal mode, only in safe mode. I have tried the following things -1) in msconfig, have seen under the boot tab and everything is unchecked including safe boot.2) have disabled all services and startup, left only microsoft services and startups checked, actually tried a lot of combinations as well.3) restored system to an earlier date when it was confirmed to be working.4) have reset the BIOS settings to BIOS defaults.Everytime, it is not booting in normal mode, only in safe mode

The issue lies with a service/program within Windows as all the programs communicate fine in Safe Mode. Windows Firewall and ICS are both disabled within Services. Malwarebytes (my only AV right now) is disabled also.I know this is an ongoing and repetitive subject but the numerous searches are all resulting in pointing fingers at an AV program, which I am sure is completely disabled.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe problem is that when I boot my PC it will go black and restart after getting to the windows logo boot part. If I try Safe mode it will get to SYSTEM32DRIVERSDISK.SYS and then just bluescreens and restarts again. Before it got to CLASSPNP.SYS but I tried to rename it to CLASSPNP.OLD and now it didn't really change much. I also tried using this code but it just tells me that some files are corrupt and it cannot repair it.If I try the automatic repair option it will just try and repair for a couple of hours and then say it cannot repair and rebooting the PC.

View 4 Replies View Relatedreally have never seen anything quite like this. When I boot up my PC and it gets to the desktop, a program window pops up and the mouse and keyboard will not work. Therefore, I cannot clear the program from the desktop or go anywhere to run scans or the like to see if the problem is virus related. When I go into safe mode, it does the same thing. I tried restoring to last known configuration with no System Restore shows no restore points. I can't do anything including get you information on my PC. I am running Windows 7 32 bit on a HP/Compaq DC 7600 C/PD 950. I am running Avast Anti-Virus Suite Pro. Regardless once on the desktop, I can not go anywhere. What the heck? Right now I am working on my laptop.

My laptop hangs up/ freeze in normal mode. Now I can only open it on safe mode. I was only copy pasting some files couple days ago when it happened. I have to hold the power button to turn it off. I already tried system restore and reformatted it twice. I'm using HP Pavilion dm4-1160us, windows 7 64-bit.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy HP laptop has been running slow and crashing for a few days. I downloaded and ran malwarebytes but it didn't find anything. My AVG 2011 stopped working yesterday and now tonight the laptop won't even start up in safe mode. Its launching straight into windows, then into system repair, which fails.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyway, my laptop, which is an HP Pavilion (1 year old) with an i7 processor and 500gb hard drive, freezes everytime I start it up. My computer was perfectly functional until a few days ago. The first problem that occured was Safari would freeze on my homepage (google) everytime I opened the program. Every other website worked fine. On google chrome everything was running fine including google.com. Eventually safari would freeze no matter what site I went to, so I started using Chrome exclusively, which worked okay until after a couple hours, when it too began to freeze on any website. I ran a virus scan only to find a few tracking cookies and nothing with a high threat level. Well, the next thing I knew my computer itself became unresponsive. Whenever I start it up it appears everything is working until about 1-2 minutes in. Then everything freezes. For example, if I click the start menu or open a folder, it won't open until 30 minutes later if I'm lucky. So I guess my computer is just extremely slow.
I did not do anything out of the ordinary, so I have no idea what is causing this problem. I also tried a system restore, which accomplished nothing. I did notice, however, that my laptop seems to run at normal speed in safe mode, for whatever reason.
Windows 7 Home Premium, Emachines E725 laptop.I just got through dealing with an infection. Details in this thread:[URL] restarted and F8ed my way to Advanced Boot Options and selected Safe Mode with networking. It started up normally, got to the Users page, I selected my profile, typed in my password and the puter suddenly restarted. Huh. So I tried again and typed faster. The puter at first began to start up in safe mode then suddenly restarted. I tried one more time but this time when it got to the Profiles page I left it alone and counted. 12 seconds later it suddenly restarted by itself. So, I can not enter Safe Mode. The infection has been removed and MSE shows that it is clear. Correlation is not causation so I can not say that the Safe Mode problem is related to the infection, and I can not even remember ever starting this particular machine in Safe Mode since I bought it new.
View 14 Replies View RelatedA few days ago something strange happened to my computer. I suspect it may have been a virus but I really don't know.I was on a seemingly harmless website for learning Spanish and after clicking a button my computer froze and wouldn't even load Task Manager, so I shut it down forcefully with the button after several minutes. After restarting it seemed fine, but the next day I noticed everything was loading slowly, from internet pages to desktop programs and iTunes songs were skipping. I tried running a virus scanner but the computer froze again and had to be forcefully shut down once again. However, it didn't start back up like normal. When I turn on my laptop, it says 'Windows has failed to start normally' and something I can't remember about recently installed hardware issues but that's not the problem. After pressing F8 to try Safe Mode, it has a page loading drivers and whatnot, but then it restarts and gives me the same 'failed to start' page. 'Last Known Good Configuration' just gives me a black page with a cursor. 'Launch Windows Repair' or something (which is right after initially booting) does nothing at all.

Recently I was streaming a TV show off of sidereel.com and firefox froze. I switched to Internet explorer and began to watch again, but the computer began to make a "dinging" noise occasionally. I then ran a norton anti-virus sweep which turned up only a few cookies. After this, I watched lectures from my school's class that I had downloaded, and during this time, the computer froze and became unresponsive. I turned it off manually, and it has not been able to restart in normal mode since then. Every time I try to login, after I put in my password, it goes to a blue screen and says "System_Service_Exception" and then it restarts itself.
Occasionally it doesn't even make it to the windows login, and freezes at the "HP" screen in the beginning of startup.Around the same time that this problem manifested itself, there may have been a new Windows 7 update that my computer was running in the background on its own.I think the problem may be more related to the windows update than to other issues, but I have tried going to a system restore point (coincidentally, the only point available might be a restore point created by the windows update). I have no other restore points available, but I am able to access my computer in safe mode.
My Toshiba laptop has been overheating lately. Looked online and saw that this is a common problem with Toshibas. As I currently live in Indonesia (from Tennessee originally) I dont know where to buy the spray cleaner things (yes, thats what I call them...lol i dont know the technical name or brand name.) So when it overheats I usually let it cool down for a bit then restart and just try and keep the bottom elevated so it can cool consistently.
Tonight it overheated and when I went to restart, it restarted normally until it got to the main screen. Things looked ok, but when I moved the mouse it moved for just a second and then everything froze. Not just the mouse, I tried hitting tab,etc to make things move but nothing would happen. Not even the trusty ctl-alt-del magic would happen. I restarted into safe mode and things are ok.
I am currently in safe mode as my Toshiba laptop cannot boot up properly. I get through the windows startup. All the icons on my desktop look normal, and then about 40 seconds later, a blue screen filled with information briefly appears before the computer shuts down and attempts to restart itself. It happens so fast I can't write down much of what was on the screen other than a data dump, with numbers counting down to 0 and then it does a restart on its own. I did a restore to November 20 and that did not help, so I did another restore for Nov. 9 and that too did not help. I did manage to open in safe mode and managed to find these errors in some event log :

My lenovo laptop has been having a problem - the screen sometimes turns black for a few times and a blue screen occur after that. I usually just force the laptop off and restart it. A few days ago this happened and I switched off my laptop, and it cannot be started normally since then I can only start it in safe mode. when i try to start it normally it just freezes in a dark screen.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI happened to run across this forum while searching for answers to my computer troubles through Google. Here's the issue, my laptop is no more then a year old. It's a Dell Model N5040 running Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1. For the past week or so my computer has been running increasingly slower, and i cannot for the life of me figure out why.I am only using 36gb of a 446gb hard drive, I have 4gb of ram and have run a virus scan, disk cleanup, and a disk defrag.. It does not run slower while doing certain things infact it seems to selectively slow down. I attempted to complete a disk check of my C drive. This has found a few bad sectors which have been either removed during the check or manually however after a week of attempting to run the disk check I have yet to fully complete a single check. It will freeze at some point on every step and never recover.
I use Trend Micro Titanium as my virus protector and I have even attempted to use their house call software to check if maybe my virus softare was compromised I have used Spybot search and destroy and CCleaner in an attempt to clear up any clutter and/or spy/malware. My only conclusion is that maybe some Windows driver was deleted by mistake through CCleaner. I have attempted to start my computer in safe mode however even this cannot be completed, it freezes and never recovers.Nevertheless, I am at an impass i am unsure on where I go from here and would obviously prefer to fix this myself rather then let some self proclaimed "tech" at a shady I.T. company tell me i need a new computer because they cant figure it out either.
I'm working on my brother's girlfriend's Dell Inspiron 1764 that will begin to start windows and then immediately goes back to the post screen. I have tried to do a system restore, and recover from a system image... but of course she has made neither of these backups. The laptop will not load windows in safe mode and i have also tried to disable driver signature enforcement. I'm not exactly sure what happened before the failure, but i know my brother installed a Honda data logging program called HONDATA right before it crashed so I am suspecting some sort of driver issues. Is there anything else i can do besides the full Dell system restore that would wipe all of her data?
