Cannot Access Safe Mode But Can Boot In Safe Mode With Networking?

After attempting to start my Laptop in Safe Mode, it loaded drivers normally only to crash a few seconds later. A prompt message appears but is impossible to read because Windows immediately reboots upon showing the prompt.

Safe Mode With Networking Works, But Clean Boot Does Not

Nov 24, 2009

I try to help people with internet connectivity issues. Lately, this has been bothering me a lot. You get into safe mode with networking (f8 at startup) and everything works fine. The connectivity is fine. Some people have slow browsing issues, they are sorted out in safe mode with networking. For some, the computer freezes up while browsing in normal mode, but works perfectly in safe mode with networking.

The next valid step in troubleshooting would be to perform a clean boot (How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state) i.e. disable all of the startup items and services.

But, I've notices, quite a few times, this does not work. People have performed scans and found no viruses (so this means that we cannot attribute the cause to spyware).

My question is : Is there something we can do if a clean boot does not work?

Can Only Connect To Internet In Safe Mode With Networking

Aug 22, 2012

I have a Asus G73JH laptop and I've had it for a couple years now. Windows 7 64-bit Two nights ago I was able to get on the internet and shut down my computer and went to bed, the next day I was only able to connect to internet while in safe mode. This includes hardwiring into the router, and the modem while in normal mode. When connected to the router wirelessly it says I'm connected without internet, however I cannot even access the router through 192.168.1.1?

Stucking In Safe Mode With Minimal Networking?

Sep 14, 2012

I am new here, and i just ran into a problem today that i can not fix. Had some issues initialy with windows explorer timing out, fixed a few things ended up going into safe mood by running msconfig and changing the boot tab. Now i can not get out of it, logged on as admin. Tried to use bootrec.exe in windows recovery environment. I am trying to not lose all the files and programs on the computer with a recovery install but i can not do that in safe mode or use upgrade install in boot from usb. I dont know why msconfig wont let me change the boot options nothing is clickable in that tab, but the rest of it works fine. Also tried using f8, even when selecting normal mode it boots in safe mood.

Freeze At Login, Cannot Use Safe Mode With Networking Either

Dec 12, 2011

I walked away from my computer last night with only Google Chrome running, and 2 tabs: AOL mail, and Facebook/FarmVille. When I returned to it, the browser froze. I hit cntl alt del to close the program. Things still seemed slow after everything was closed, so I tried a reboot. However, it won't let me past login. I get the word welcome with the spinning circle and nothing else.

In safe mode, things were fine, just a little slow. I scanned with Webroot twice, and nothing was found. I was browsing for suggestions last night and Tried sfc/scan now... That came back normal too. Another suggestion was some anti malware programs, downloaded Nader safe mode with networking. That's how I learned I get the same freeze at login with that startup.

I'm not a computer nerd but use them regularly and am willing to try some things before taking it into a shop, so I'm open to suggestions. Last month I contracted Trojans and while it was at Best Buy being repaired, they realized the hard drive was going bad, so I have a new hard drive, if that makes any difference.

Black Screen / Safe Mode / No Networking

Nov 7, 2011

I am experiencing the black screen issues with my new windows 7 lenovo laptop. when it starts normally, I can get to my user logon screen but when I select a profile the computer takes a moment to load through the welcome... part and then just a faint light blue screen with cursor. In normal mode I have a cursor but no button or keyboard functionality whatsoever. I can boot the computer into safe mode with full safe mode functionality.I have spent literally 3 days working on the issue. I have tried everything I can to this point. Re-installing my graphics driver, disabling it all together and trying a new boot, same result. I've deleted all user accounts and created new ones (as I said this laptop was brand new so I don't have a lot of personal data on it, none anymore) as well as checked my winlogon/ shell to verify explorer.exe. System restore and Boot repair are also not working to help the issue at all.

Acer Aspire Will Only Work In Safe Mode Networking

Nov 18, 2012

I have an acer aspire laptop. Last night firefox stopped responding and from that message the whole thing, completely froze. Tried safe mode networking and it worked, but normal mode would not work at all. Tried a few hours later and restarted it then froze again once restarted in normal mode and hasn't worked since... yet safe mode works fine. Can anybody help? Please! The only way I could shut it down was to take the battery out. I turned it on, entered my password and when it loaded froze immediatley. I tried again, again the only way of shutting down was to take the battery out, and when turned on I was greeted by a black screen and nothing else. [code]

Continual BSOD In Windows 7 But Will Operate In Safe Mode With Networking

May 26, 2012

I have ran the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app with the results attached. I attempted to run PERFMON report but was unsuccessful (Error: cannot find specified path).

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and this is the original OS that was preinstalled with my laptop (ASUS G60VX). The system is approximately 2.5 years old and I have never re-installed the OS.

I continuously run system mechanic to monitor and clean out the drive and also use Norton 360 to supplement system mechanic. The system was gradually slowing down and occassionally freezing up. I upgraded the CPU with a T9600 chip and the system seemed to run fine but the temps definitely increased (fan constantly running but rpms varying with temps); I use SpeedFan to monitor temps. The lagging once again started so I had a deep scan and repair of the hard drive performed; took all night to run. This was done approximately one week ago. The system afterward now continually shuts down (BSODs) with no rhyme or reason. I do not know if it is hardware (GPU or hard drive) or software. I have re-installed the original CPU to see if this was the problem but the BSODs continue.

I am capable of operating in Windows Safe Mode with Networking.

Windows 7 X32 Hangs/freezes Randomly, Only Safe Mode + Networking Works

Sep 3, 2012

I've got a new copy of windows 7 (32 bit version) I have got 4 GB ram only 3,25 in use (like I had on the XP version, running on the same PC) and after I boot up the PC I just look at the desktop, play with some random games, create and delete folders, do some little stress to the RAM or sometimes just doing nothing. The only boot that works is safe mode and its variants.

Things that I've done in the past 7 days:

-I checked RAM integrity - no errors

-Everything is up to date (drivers, everything) - it hanged/froze even with a fresh copy of Windows 7

-I use wireless if that is a problem, found some errors about it and will post them after this list

-enabled services and disabled them VIA msconfig (toying around I found out that it WONT CRASH with any internet service on normal mode)

-I checked Windows 7 compatibility and it's 100% compatible

-Tried to update BIOS but I don't think it will solve anything anyways

-Used dozens of registry cleaners (CCleaner and lots; lots more) - still nothing

-Put a second HDD on my machine with Windows 7 same version, it still crashed, but on the second machine the second HDD works great.

Event 7001: The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Can't Boot Computer In Normal Mode Or Safe Mode

Oct 5, 2012

I can't boot my computer in normal mode or safe mode. When I try to do so, after the "starting windows" page the only things that come up are my mouse, a black screen/background, and a "logonui.exe-bad image- Authui.dll isn't designed to run on windows" error/message (not the exact message). I can't use a system restore (it can't find a restore point), the image recovery tool finds no image to restore from, system repair either doesn't find a problem or can't fix the problem, and basically nothing else works (none of the advanced boot options or other various buttons and tools do anything noticeable). I've even tried to use sfc in command prompt, but whenever I do any sfc things at all (/scannow, verifyonly, verifyfile, etc.) it says there is a system repair pending that requires a reboot. I've restarted 7-8 times and the exact same message keeps coming up. I'm looking for any general help I can get right now, [I can post my computer specifics in an hour when I have time](posted a few). I have an HP pavilion dv6-6135dx wiht Windows 7 x64.Processor: AMD a8-3500m APU, raedon graphics bios vender/version: insyde, f. 20.I'm having trouble getting more info because my computer is still crashing occasionally and I don't really know what else is relevant; if you need more, I might need directions on how to get it. Especially if it involves command prompt.I should also add that it has been crashing more often than I think is normal ever since I got it, but recently it BSODed 3-4 times a day. I have antivirus and also ran a full malwarebytes scan yesterday, and it only found one little issue which was resolved.

Computer Can't Boot Through Safe Mode Or Normal Mode

Pressing ctrl alt delete works and brings up the screen again but if I try to select task manager for example the screen goes black again. Cannot Access Safe Mode

Jan 18, 2013

my pc semi froze, wouldn't let me access control manager and browsers forze but other applications were working. So i decided to restart my pc and upon restarting it froze on the bootup screen (windows logo). I tryed accessing safe mode but got stuck on " windowssystem32DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS ". Once it crashes on the boot up and I press the reset button my main drive is no longer detected by my bios but when i fully shut down the pc and start it up again it gets detected no problem. I have browsed around and I have seen a lot of people stating it was bitdefender, but as I cannot gain access to my safe mode to restore or delete it I have no idea if it really is that. I would like to hear your suggestions on the problem, I could take my ssd out and put it in an external drive and plug it into my laptop to try and delete bitdefender but as its mounted to the floor of an antec 902 and its pretty jam packed in there id need to removed my gfx cards hard drive trays, and power supply just to get to it and that is something I really dont have the time for.

Can Not Access Safe Mode Options Upon Restart

I reboot the computer I am sent to the black screen with "PRESS F8" to open Boot Menu or Bios" I believe. Press DEL for what ever and TAB for EZ FLASH 2, I already updated the correct bios update from ASUS website of my model Motherboard but this will not go away and I have no way to access the "F8" for Safe Mode and all the other options, I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Your Computer Was Unable To Start - Cannot Access Safe Mode

Sep 27, 2010

I forgot to plug in my computer and the battery died. When I tried turning it back on, it takes me directly to:

"Startup Repair - Your computer was unable to start. Startup Repair is checking your system for problems. If problems are found, start up repair will fix them automatically. Your computer might restart several times during this process. No changes will be made to your personal files or information. This might take several minutes."

Followed by a loading bar that says searching for problems. After leaving this on for a while it gives the system restore option, however this just takes me back to the previous screen. I cannot cancel the Start up repair and I can't access safemode. After searching for over an hour the only solution I've found so far is reinstall the OS, however my computer did not come with the OS disc and I have school related files on the computer that I can't lose.

I am using a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6981 T6600 That's 9 months old with windows 7, Specs (To my limited knowledge) say:
C2D 56600, 4GB DDR3

Windows 7 Stuck At Welcome Screen, Cannot Access Safe Mode

Sep 11, 2010

When I start my computer everything seems to be working fine but after login it says Please Wait then freezes at Welcome screen and the cursor can be moved around the screen and shows the loading icon and the screen also flashes black every few seconds. I've restarted and attempted to access Safe Mode however it also freezes at Welcome screen. I went into the repair system screen and tried a system restore but it says there are no restore points available and I know I haven't deleted my restore points. I've tried disconnecting any of the hardware I've had installed but that hasn't helped either. There also isn't any faulty hardware. When it was last working it said there was a Windows update so I installed the update but when I tried to turn on the computer the next time thats when the problem started and I don't remember what the update was for. I upgraded from Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit about 2 months ago and up until now I've had no problems with it. What can I do?

Here are the system specs:

Dell Inspiron 530s
Intel Celeron 2.00 Ghz
3.00 GB DDR2 RAM (I added 2.00 gigs myself came with 1.00 gig from factory)

Trying To Boot Into Safe Mode?

I've tried hitting F8 and F5 (as was suggested with Asus boards), but neither of them work. I login under another use and type msconfig form the start menu to try and manually set the computer to boot into safe mode. I get asked for the admin password (my user account is the admin account), so I type is the password and I get a "windows cannot find C:windowssystem32msconfig.exe" error message.

Could Not Boot Into Safe Mode

The driver is mismanaging system PTES, and another one I think. So I could not boot into Safe Mode or Normal Mode. Eventually I got through and I cleaned out the registry and had it reinstall video drivers as well. Now all seems to work fine, except that the taskbar refuses to keep Use Small Icons checked, and when I click on Pin this program to taskbar with any random shortcut it does nothing at all. Both these things worked fine before the BSOD spam I had. It's an HP Workstation xw3100 running on the default VGA (video card died, getting a new one) with 2GB of DDR400 RAM (1GB factory RAM from HP) a SATA DVD/RW Drive and a Seagate 80GB 7200RPM HDD, everything else is as it was from the factory.
