with the creation of a batch file which when run from normal mode it should take me to Safe mode with networking.considering the OS to be Xp and above, and with the next restart it should stay normal .

View 1 Replies View Relatedi recently got a new mobo and ever since i haven't been able to figure out how to enter safe mode. the board is an asus m5a99x evo. when i try the traditional way and tap the f8 right after start-up i am taken to a boot device menu through the asus bios and after selecting my HDD i am immediately taken to the windows 7 loading screen. is there anyway to force safe mode on restart once in windows?

Windows 7 64-bit Two nights ago I was able to get on the internet and shut down my computer and went to bed, the next day I was only able to connect to internet while in safe mode. This includes hardwiring into the router, and the modem while in normal mode. When connected to the router wirelessly it says I'm connected without internet, however I cannot even access the router through 192.168.1.1?

Had some issues initialy with windows explorer timing out, fixed a few things ended up going into safe mood by running msconfig and changing the boot tab. Now i can not get out of it, logged on as admin. Tried to use bootrec.exe in windows recovery environment. I am trying to not lose all the files and programs on the computer with a recovery install but i can not do that in safe mode or use upgrade install in boot from usb. I dont know why msconfig wont let me change the boot options nothing is clickable in that tab, but the rest of it works fine. Also tried using f8, even when selecting normal mode it boots in safe mood.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI walked away from my computer last night with only Google Chrome running, and 2 tabs: AOL mail, and Facebook/FarmVille. When I returned to it, the browser froze. I hit cntl alt del to close the program. Things still seemed slow after everything was closed, so I tried a reboot. However, it won't let me past login. I get the word welcome with the spinning circle and nothing else.
In safe mode, things were fine, just a little slow. I scanned with Webroot twice, and nothing was found. I was browsing for suggestions last night and Tried sfc/scan now... That came back normal too. Another suggestion was some anti malware programs, downloaded Nader safe mode with networking. That's how I learned I get the same freeze at login with that startup.
I'm not a computer nerd but use them regularly and am willing to try some things before taking it into a shop, so I'm open to suggestions. Last month I contracted Trojans and while it was at Best Buy being repaired, they realized the hard drive was going bad, so I have a new hard drive, if that makes any difference.
I am experiencing the black screen issues with my new windows 7 lenovo laptop. when it starts normally, I can get to my user logon screen but when I select a profile the computer takes a moment to load through the welcome... part and then just a faint light blue screen with cursor. In normal mode I have a cursor but no button or keyboard functionality whatsoever. I can boot the computer into safe mode with full safe mode functionality.I have spent literally 3 days working on the issue. I have tried everything I can to this point. Re-installing my graphics driver, disabling it all together and trying a new boot, same result. I've deleted all user accounts and created new ones (as I said this laptop was brand new so I don't have a lot of personal data on it, none anymore) as well as checked my winlogon/ shell to verify explorer.exe. System restore and Boot repair are also not working to help the issue at all.

When I came back it had frozen, I hadn't been doing anything untoward, I had been running a few programs at once, just like firefox and word. Anyway I had to turn it off with the power button. Then when I tried turning it back on I was able to log in but there was no desktop, just a black screen, same thing when I used safe mode. Now whenever I turn it on it goes to a disc check and when it gets to a certain number it says its unreadable and safe search just plain doesn't work. I'm gonna lose all my files. So is there anyway I could do a restore to factory settings (restoring to another time also didn't work)

Tried safe mode networking and it worked, but normal mode would not work at all. Tried a few hours later and restarted it then froze again once restarted in normal mode and hasn't worked since... yet safe mode works fine. Can anybody help? Please! View 3 Replies View RelatedI try to help people with internet connectivity issues. Lately, this has been bothering me a lot. You get into safe mode with networking (f8 at startup) and everything works fine.The connectivity is fine. Some people have slow browsing issues, they are sorted out in safe mode with networking. For some, the computer freezes up while browsing in normal mode, but works perfectly in safe mode with networking.
The next valid step in troubleshooting would be to perform a clean boot (How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state) i.e. disable all of the startup items and services.
But, I've notices, quite a few times, this does not work. People have performed scans and found no viruses (so this means that we cannot attribute the cause to spyware).
My question is : Is there something we can do if a clean boot does not work?
i just bought an asus u31s laptop a couple of weeks ago for school and all was great until today. it suddenly crashed and gave bsod. i was just on Internet or something, nothing special, but it had been running for a few hours. so now it won't boot up, it simply reboots constantly. i can't even get into safe mode. bios i can get into, but i'm unable to do anything, since it appears to freeze, when i get in there.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) and this is the original OS that was preinstalled with my laptop (ASUS G60VX). The system is approximately 2.5 years old and I have never re-installed the OS.
I continuously run system mechanic to monitor and clean out the drive and also use Norton 360 to supplement system mechanic. The system was gradually slowing down and occassionally freezing up. I upgraded the CPU with a T9600 chip and the system seemed to run fine but the temps definitely increased (fan constantly running but rpms varying with temps); I use SpeedFan to monitor temps. The lagging once again started so I had a deep scan and repair of the hard drive performed; took all night to run. This was done approximately one week ago. The system afterward now continually shuts down (BSODs) with no rhyme or reason. I do not know if it is hardware (GPU or hard drive) or software. I have re-installed the original CPU to see if this was the problem but the BSODs continue.
I am capable of operating in Windows Safe Mode with Networking.
I've got a new copy of windows 7 (32 bit version) I have got 4 GB ram only 3,25 in use (like I had on the XP version, running on the same PC) and after I boot up the PC I just look at the desktop, play with some random games, create and delete folders, do some little stress to the RAM or sometimes just doing nothing. The only boot that works is safe mode and its variants.
Things that I've done in the past 7 days:
-I checked RAM integrity - no errors
-Everything is up to date (drivers, everything) - it hanged/froze even with a fresh copy of Windows 7
-I use wireless if that is a problem, found some errors about it and will post them after this list
-enabled services and disabled them VIA msconfig (toying around I found out that it WONT CRASH with any internet service on normal mode)
-I checked Windows 7 compatibility and it's 100% compatible
-Tried to update BIOS but I don't think it will solve anything anyways
-Used dozens of registry cleaners (CCleaner and lots; lots more) - still nothing
-Put a second HDD on my machine with Windows 7 same version, it still crashed, but on the second machine the second HDD works great.

I've been looking for a fix for 5 hours and no luck- System restarts as soon as it enters the splash screen, but I can enter into safe mode - SFC /SCANNOW Detects nothing.
Tried bootrec commands and did nothing.. .
Tried chkdsk /f /r and still nothing. . .
Tried start up repair like 30+ times and it didn't fix it and said no root cause.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI found a registry script that creates an option on the windows explorer context menu that allows you to run a batch file.The program that I use within the batch file is producing an access denied error which I dont get if I run the batch file normally. I wondered if this was something to do with privileges. So is there maybe some way to adjust this regedit script so it runs the command prompt with more privileges?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a PC that froze up during use. No new software has been added, with the exception of Critical updates released over the past month. After a hard reboot, the PC would freeze up during the Windows boot screen - and in safe mode, it freezes while loading MUP.SYS.
here is what I've tried so far, each failing to resolve my issue:
* Clear BIOS by removing CMOS battery * Performing a CHKDSK of the system drive. - no issues found after running for 1.5 hours * Moved the one memory module to the other available slot. * fitted different HDD preloaded with fresh XP SP3 from a working PC
I even tried to do a fresh install, it picks up the disc and starts to download the files then the Windows logon screen appears again and it freezes up again I left it for 2 hours last night and it just sat there!
I am trying to create a batch file that runs 3 other batch files. Right now, it works fine using the call command on each other batch file. However, these other batch files take awhile to run. and so the entire process takes a very long time, since each "sub" batch file is run only after the previous one is finished.I was wondering if there is a command or way to start a batch file fro the top-level batch file, then go on and start the next batch file before the previous one is finished. In other words, I want the sub batch files to run in parallel in the background. (similar to the '&' in Unix).

I'm using Windows 7 x64 SP1 Pro on a HP Compaq notebook. Since I installed Windows and all those HP apps (some of them apparently required to access BIOS) I got this shortcut on desktop and I cannot remove it. Deleting it manually does not work and the shortcut does not appear in User/Desktop or Public/Desktop folders. Right clicking it does not show the usual menu but this so I cannot get the location of the file. Also, the Remove Icon option does nothing not even in Safe Mode. How to get rid of this? Some suggested to reinstall the app however this also does not work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy computer fully supports S3 sleep state and last week is was working correctly. I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and it seemed it was working correctly. As you can see in the screenshot, I use only one device to wake up my computer,which is my keyboard, (I've always used this device in the past). When I put the computer to sleep, the monitor will go off, and it sounds like my speakers turn off as well, it's almost as if it's using S1 sleep state instead of S3, Lights stay on the power supply, the fans are still spinning. I wake up the pc with the keyboard, monitor comes back on, password login screen comes back. I have done quite a bit of searching on Google to find out my exactly problem, but only found answers to what is causing a pc to wake up automatically. That is not my case, as my computer will not sleep correctly anymore.
I think it has to definitely be software loading after windows is booted. I have tried a test, and as soon as I restart the computer and login, I put the computer to sleep immediately and it does it correctly. After a few minutes or hours, the computer won't sleep like it will from a fresh reboot. Something is loading after windows boots and is causing the computer not to sleep correctly. I have also disabled my onboard lan adapter to see if wake on lan is causing the issue. I have went into the bios and disabled WOL and saw S1 and S3 sleep modes supported.

the computer I am concerned with is running Windows 7 with IE8, Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I am currently in Safe Mode with Networking without issue.The owner of the computer says that something happened earlier today while he was online that sounds like some false antivirus popup, but he's unsure. Here are the symptoms in normal mode. Every application, from moving through them to opening and closing them, runs exceptionally slow - one to three minutes to open, at least a minute to open internet pages. I noticed that, when in IE, as the pages are loading the IE page disappears and reappears. I am not very familiar with Windows 7 so I don't know if it is related. The computer seems to be getting slower as the day goes on. CPU usage is very high.So far, I have disabled many startup items that were unnecessary. I ran CCleaner and cleaned up. MBAM was run in both normal and safe mode, full scans, and found nothing. This is also posted in Viruses and Malware, but I'm unsure where it should live.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI own an HP G-62-347 Notebook, Windows 7 64 bit, Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Firewall, no other real time AV, no other Firewalls, Windows Defender disabled as Microsoft instrucs for MSE, 3 GB Raam, 313 GB HDD, AMD Dual Core P-380 processor.My Laptop began freezing 8-10 minutes after bootup logon. No matter what I was doing, Media, Excell, Word, it would freeze up and hang. Sometimes CTL_ALT_DLT would unfreeze it, even before the task manager appeared, but it will take 3-4 minutes with an o[ague screen and the progress "circle" moving then unfreeze, sork 1-2 minutes, freeze, etc. Then all clicks on something to activate would result in loooong (long) delays, 15 to 45 seconds, then the new screen or window or peogram would open, sometimes frozen up.This did not happen in safe mode.I have (on suggestions) removed all things from my start up or programs that other's have suggested, Google Update files, and three or four others that others had issues with that I found on the net. I have also removed programs that I had installed around then.
I have also run, in Safe Mode, MSE, MS Safety Scanner, MS malicious file remover, ESET online Scanner, my laptop is clean.I have used mscong to disable all non-microsoft items to see if that helped. It did not. Same issues.I have used startup repair, and after scanning received a message that there was a problem, but that it could not fix it, did I want to send a report to Microsoft, I checked yes and it sent me to System Restore, ran it for about a week ago which was when I had downloaded some software, and the problem still existed, which sent me back to System Repair, ran it, same error message, reported again.I used a Repair Disk to get back on the laptop a coulple of times when needed, but ultimately, the problem surfaced still.I have used ReImage Plus to rebuild all my defective Windows Files and a lot of my 3rd party defective files. And, I also did a Win 7 repair install.I am pretty convinced something is being loaded somewhere, but can't find where or who or what.Am I on the right track? Have I missed something? Am I wrong? I do not really want to do a clean re-install of Windows 7, for if I do I am reformatting everything to clean any and everything.... sort of NUKE it... but would rather find the culprit (for education purposes). And, I dislike installing and updating and setting up everything again more than I hate "boiled okra!"Anyone and Everyone that has had to do with this or similar sounding issue, please reply. I have two weeks invested, and would like to "graduate" resolving this and getting the learning experience of WHY?

Safe mode is fine (I have tweaked the registry so I have sound in safe mode) My system specs are in my profile, but used Winaudit for full specs. The winaudit report in formatted text is too big for an attachment. I have 2 attachments to this post, including zipped up minidumps. Could my registry tweak for sound have something to do with this? Perfmon /report was run, but it says:
An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The system cannot find the path specified.
It seems that since Win 7 SP1 was loaded my pc will not enter sleep mode. I've done everything the geniuses at Microsoft support suggest and nothing. Turning off hybrid sleep, disabling wake on lan, etc.
