Installed Proper Drivers But Keyboard Unresponsive

Jun 27, 2011

I recently purchased a Microsoft Wireless 3000 keyboard new. After plugging in the USB receiver and installing the batteries to the keyboard, it seemed everything was going to work. The noise came on that a USB device had been plugged in and it then installed the proper drivers. When I tried to type or use any function on the keyboard, though, it was unresponsive-the keys don't work.

I then tried the following troubleshooting:
1) unplugged my older keyboard (Logitech Office Pro Keyboard PS/2). Then I tried rebooting with it still I unplugged.
2) Inserted the installation disc that came with the new keyboard. I window popped up saying that the program (intelliType) cannot be opened because it is being blocked for compatibility issues. (that is all it said-no cause stated). Restarted computer and tried it again-same outcome.
3) Downloaded the latest driver from the Microsoft website . I made sure it was the exact format for my computer (Windows 7, 64-bit, Keyboard Version 2.0). Installed it fine. I am able to open the intellitype program and configure the various key functions. No response from keyboard though. Restarted computer-nothing changed.
4) Uninstalled (what I could) the Logitech software SetPoint. From my perusal on the internet, it seems it is a very difficult program to uninstall. I deleted the folders from my c: Drive. It was not listed in 'Programs and Features'
5) Uninstalled the intellitype software, rebooted, and let the OS install the generic drivers for the Microsoft keyboard.
6) I went into the BIOS and noticed that the USB Keyboard function was disabled. I enabled it and the other USB functions (mouse, etc.) options were enabled.
7) Replaced the batteries twice-both brand new. The green light next to the battery symbol on the keyboard comes on for a moment after I install the batteries.
8) Tried different USB ports for the wireless receiver. Each time there is that sound that notifies a USB device has been plugged in. The OS even recognizes that it is a wireless receiver. Rebooted computer.

I even tried rebooting with the old keyboard disconnected but I am forced to plug it back in eventually as I have no other way of typing. The keyboard is recognized in device manager (Microsoft Hardware USB Keyboard, Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard (IntelliType Pro), Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Detection Driver). Currently, the IntelliType software is loaded and the SetPoint software uninstalled. Could it be a faulty keyboard?

Keyboard And Touchpad Unresponsive

Feb 12, 2010

So last week I received my brand new HP Envy 15, with a Core i5 540m (2.5-3.3ghz) Ati Radeon 5830, 4gigs of DDR3 ram, and a 500gb HDD. (Of course running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.) And everything was running awesomely- Until yesterday when I went to turn it on and when it got to the login screen everything on screen was gigantic, and my keyboard and touchpad were unresponsive.

I tried using a usb keyboard and still no luck. Booting into safemode yields the same results, even without networking. Yet when booted it up disabling driver signature enforcement, it worked fine, except everything was slow and my sound didn't work. Is there any way I can boot up regularly again and get my sound working?

Windows 7 64 Bit Laptop Keyboard Unresponsive

Oct 2, 2012

Win 7 was freshly installed on my laptop on a brand new 160 gb hard drive. 1st fresh install was Win Home ver 7 32bit. After installing 32 bit , realizied I mistakenly installed Win 7 32 bit Home version. Product key revealed original software was Win 7 Pro 64bit. Keyboard problem did not occur with 32 bit version. Once I installed the Pro 64 bit version the keyboard was non responsive.

Keyboard worked fine with 32 bit install and unresponsive after 64 bit install. Touch pad works.

I carefully removed and installed brand new laptop keyboard. Same identical problem. Non responsive laptop keyboard. Suspect this is a software problem but unable to know which/what software driver may be compatible with 64bit Win 7Pro version.

Windows 7 Randomly Freezes. Mouse & Keyboard Then Unresponsive?

Feb 9, 2012

I got a new machine recently and it all works fine, except the operating system seems to randomly freeze. When it does the only way I have found to get out of it is to manually plug it out and restartOn freeze the keyboard and mouse become entirely unresponsive, the cursor does not move, nor do either click buttons do anything, if I'm typing somewhere the text does not appear, and Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't bring up the usual screenI'm running windows 7 home premium on a 64 bit machine. I haven't found anything quite like this problem around so I thought it deserved a new topic by itselfI can't think of what to do to determine the cause or any potential solution. Everything's up to date. I think all the drivers are too. I put in different virus software 'cause I thought that might be itdit: The last time it happened I tried putting the keyboard and mouse into different USB ports, but that didn't work.Edit2: I just went to my device manager and manually checked for updates for all the drivers, and it turned out my graphics card needed an update (I updated it myself about three weeks ago so I discarded this as a potential problem). So I installed the update.

Computer Freezes Randomly / Keyboard Becomes Disabled And Unresponsive

Jan 12, 2012

i am currently unable to work on assignments on my own computer or enjoy games because it freezes completely sporadically requiring a hard boot. essentially the computer freezes on me and the keyboard becomes disabled and unresponsive. the mouse cursor on the screen slows down, like the sensitivity was turned down 95%, and moves sluggishly, and then i know the freeze is coming. the computer desktop freezes completely, the keyboard becomes disabled and sometimes the screen turns a faint transparent white depending on what application i am running. the cursor then turns into an animated hour glass that i can move around the screen totally normally, with no lag, but everything is unresponsive. i then need to do a hard boot and end up frusturated, tempted to through my computer at the wall.i've scanned the computer with at least 10 different reputable antivirus programs and i have repaired all the registry errors. i've uninstalled programs i no longer need and searched all over solutions, to no avail. [code] i looked at event viewer to try to see a log of the issue but the only error it reported was id 41, from the hard boot. when i'm on Internet and it locks up permanently, the Internet video continues to play.also the freezing is totally random and sometimes i can go for 5h without it happening, other times it freezes up within 10 minutes. usually it freezes up between 10-30 mins of system starting up.

I bought a new computer with the following parts. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor ($117.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: ASRock P67 PRO3 SE ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($102.55 @ Newegg) Memory: Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($41.99 @ Amazon) Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($109.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card ($249.99 @ Amazon) Case: Fractal Design Core 3000 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Corsair 500W ATX12V Power Supply ($41.98 @ Newegg) Optical Drive: LG GH22NS90B DVD/CD Writer ($22.98 @ Newegg) Monitor: Acer S220HQLAbd 21.5" Monitor ($128.96 @ CompUSA) Total: $886.42 (Prices include shipping and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2012-05-12 00:22 EDT-0400)

When I first got it, it arrived without the video card so I used a temp one. The computer started crashing, so I thought it was because the video card was old. I borrowed another one from a friend and uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new ones. The same thing happened with this one. I decided to run some test so I downloaded prime95, memtest86+, and a video benchmark. Everything passed except for prime95. Memtest ran for 11 hours with no errors and prime95 crashes after a couple of minutes. I returned the motherboard because I thought it was faulty, but the same thing happens with replacement. I tried moving the memory sticks to different slots and using one and then the other. I tried installing windows 7 32bit and 64bit. I ran the diagnostic test for the cpu and everything passed. I have installed the latest updated drivers.

So if it's not the motherboard, memory, cpu, nor gpu, what could it be. Can someone please help me identify the problem(s). I don't know where the .dmp went but here is a screen shot [URL] and I will attach the PERFMON HTML file.

Installed Win7, System Will Not Boot From Proper Drive

Oct 11, 2009

I recently isntalled windows 7 professional and I have three sata drives, one is the system drive where windows 7 is installed (C, my primary partition, the other is a storage drive (F and a drive to replace the partition (Z. My boot priority for the moment is the F: drive then the C:. This is because for some reason my C: drive, even though the system is installed on it, will not boot.

I tried several things like copying the hidden system folder in F:Boot to the C drive but that did not work. I recently did a repair install but that did not restore the boot manager. Is there a way to manually set my C: drive as my primary boot drive, without jumping through hoops, I bought the Z drive to replace the F drive and need to be able to boot without it.

Keyboard In Rear USB Port Not Working - Driver Not Installed Properly

May 6, 2011

I have a new pc with a Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 motherboard and I plugged a Microsoft 600 Wired Keyboard into the rear port (designated for KB/Mouse by Gigabyte). The keyboard works in the BIOS, but when Windows 7 loads, the num lock light switches on, then Windows 7 says that "Driver not installed properly". In the Devices & Printers window, it shows an icon of the keyboard with a yellow exclamation mark and says "hardware not available". However, mouse continues to work. This happens in all the rear USB ports. If I plug the keyboard in the front port, Windows recognizes the keyboard, install the correct driver and it works! All the USB ports work fine otherwise (tested with thumb drive as well as mouse). I also tried with a Logitech K120 wired keyboard which also had the same problem.!!

In the Windows 7 Control panel Keyhoard the grid is there, but is blank and there seems to be no way to change any thing. It appears to me that the sytem wants to use default programs. This does not work for the Eudora email program that I still prefer and also does not give the flexibility that I prefer. For example I like to use one key to access the Character Map (C:Windowssystem32charmap.exe) and I don't find a method to do this in Windows 7

Max Nighthawk X9 Keyboard Drivers Not Found

Dec 26, 2012

Max Keyboard Blog | BEYOND LIMITS for anyone who wishes to browse their site to find an answer.

Got myself an x9 for christmas, went to put it on my Desktop (Windows 7 64bit) and the backlighting turned on but the keyboard would not respond to typing. Went and tried it on my Thinkpad x131e (Windows 8) and it works perfectly on there.

Ok the keyboard is working, good. Now time to fix it on my desktop.

Uninstalled my old keyboard drivers (K120 Logitech,) restarted, then plugged in the x9. Hardware found noise turns on. Searches for drivers, done. Try to type with it, doesn't work.

If I navigate to Start -> Control Panel -> Devices and Printers I see a device called "Gaming Keyboard" which is the x9 with a (!) trouble shoot icon. If I run through the troubleshooting it searches for the drivers but it cannot find them. Turned off my firewall, removed MSE and turned off defender, uninstalled my virus checkers. Nothing, still doesn't want to fetch the drivers.

No USB Mouse Or Keyboard After Removing ATI Drivers, Cannot Log In

Aug 29, 2012

This morning I was attempting to remove all my ATI related drivers ue to a display driver error I kept getting so that I can start fresh with a clean installation of the ATI video drivers. I went into the registry and deleted all the ATI related stuff I could find to make sure I had everything. I restarted my computer, and lo and behold, my keyboard and mouse weren't functioning at all, and I couldn't log in because of that. I realized in deleting those ATI drivers I'd possibly removed the USB controllers. So I had nowhere else to go except to system restore, but it told me I had no restore points, which is frustrating. So I'm stuck, i can't go back to an earlier date, nor can I log in.

Lost Mouse And Keyboard (USB) Drivers

Feb 13, 2013

I just set up a new build with Asus P8Z77-V mobo and windows 7. Not knowing better I tried to install Al Suite from Asus and it didn't install correctly. Anyway it was giving me error codes and I could not uninstall all of its files. So I then used AutoRun to delete the files. Well I must have deleted something I shouldn't have because now my mouse and keyboard don't work in Windows. They do work in bios and I set bios to defaults. I also started in safe mode but nothing. I tried a PS wired keyboard and still nothing. Since its new I have no back-up or recovery disk. I can't even install a disk because I can't click run. The only thing I can think to do is disconnect everything from mobo even the battery then reconnect and see what happens. If all else fails I guess I'll have to format everything and start a clean install again.

Device Drivers Are Not Installed?

Dec 3, 2010

Device drivers are not installed. A driver has not been installed for this device preventing it from working properly. The device driver for Network Controller has not been installed. This device will not be available until the correct device driver is installed.

1. Try installing the drivers using Windows Update.

2. Install the drivers that are on the installation media that came with the device.

3. Check with the manufacturer for an updated driver.

Explanation of Error Codes Generated by Device Manager.I have installed the driver for my network card, and the bluetooth driver. I'm not sure about drivers for a wireless connection, I don't know if they're included in the network card drivers or not. What's this network controller thing? And what driver would satisfy it? I'm on an Acer Aspire 5742ZG. Their driver support is pretty bad.Hardware Identification Fixed my problem. I found out using that website that the Network Controller was an Antheros Wireless Network Adapter. Antheros. When I installed my drivers and saw that I had a Broadcom LAN card, I assumed that I'd also have a Broadcom Wireless network adapter. Well nope. I deleted the Broadcom driver, installed the Antheros one and now the problem is fixed.

All Drivers Have Been Wiped Out And Cannot Be Re-Installed

Oct 5, 2012

About a week ago, I rebooted my machine (custom built by Origin PC), and when Windows came back up, I immediately knew something was wrong. My desktop settings seemed to have reverted to default. I immediately tried to open Chrome and found that I had no working internet connection. My first thought was to reboot the modem and router, but that didn't work. In fact, my laptop and other wifi devices all still had internet access. My next step was to look at the network settings. There was NOTHING there. There were no settings, there were no drivers; the only thing that was there was the basic "would you like to set up a new connection". Although this happened a bit later on, I did try to set up a new connection and the only option it presented me with was a dial-up connection. I checked the ethernet cord and all was fine there. I finally realized that every driver had been wiped clean for network use. The computer came to me using Nvidia's nForce drivers and those were gone, nowhere to be found. And this was only the beginning.I then proceeded to look through my Nvidia files and see if I could find it there. Well, the only Nvidia files that were left were the PhysX and 3D Media Player. My computer was running the generic driver for the Geforce 580. Having no internet on this desktop, I downloaded the latest drivers (and the previous one I was using) and tried to install both of them. Each time I tried to install them, I got a statement saying "Nvidia Installer Failed".

There were a number of possible solutions to that particular problem, though none of them worked for me. So I began to think this was more a systemic issue than just Nvidia alone. My suspicions were proved correct when I tried to open a game (Skyrim) and was greeted with a message saying, "No sound device detected. Skyrim cannot run." So my next step was to look at my audio settings. I went down to the audio icon in bottom far-right area of the task bar, where there are bunch of mini-icons next to the time and date. Before I clicked on the audio icon, I noticed that pretty much every other icon besides the factory default had been wiped as well. When I did click on the audio icon, I was informed that there were no audio devices installed, despite the fact that my Razer headset was plugged in.Finally, I ran the version of MalwareBytes that I had available (no internet, no update to the list), and it found one trojan called "disable.??" I can't quite remember the other part. But the name alone led me to believe I had found the culprit. So, I quarantined it, rebooted, and nothing had changed. I ran a full scan again with MalwareBytes and it didn't pick up anything this time.

Installed Drivers On System Reboot?

Jul 20, 2012

For a few months now, whenever I boot up it seems that all of the USB ports on the computer, including the network adapter just simply won't work until I've reinstalled. What's weird is this is true for all but one USB port, which is located on the back of the case. I've kept my mouse plugged in there so whenever I need to restart I can easily reinstall the drivers... And really it's not that big of a problem or anything, it's just become an annoyance at this point, you know?'ve tried updating the drivers in question and it says they're up to date.I'm not sure what else I can do past that since I'm not that knowledgeable in this area. The drivers that are experiencing the problem I described are; "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" -and- "Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 1C26"Another thing I guess I'd like to ask about since I'm making this post... I have a USB port on the front end of the PC which won't work whatsoever even after reinstalling drivers. We had a power outage a while back, and I thought maybe it could have fried it or something
