I recently uninstalled my MSI HD6850 video drivers but after restarting my PC, it still seemed that some drivers were not uninstalled. I opened up System Information and to my surprise, I found that I had version 8.892 drivers installed which I do not recall even installing such old version. How can I get rid of these old drivers because I can't see them under Program and Features.
Is there a preferred sequence that one should use (and one should avoid) in replacing a video card... to avoid being left in the dark?On my Dell Dimension 9200 (now on Win 7 Home Edition, 64 bit), I will be replacing its x16 256mb OEM NVidia GeForce 8600GT with a freed up card from another machine (x16 OEM 1GB ATI RADEON HD 5670).Will this sequence work?:remove all Nvidia software via control panel power down and remove the card insert the replacment ATI card and power up pray it will work with native windows drivers install ATI The AMD Catalyst Control center run "auto-detect" the card follow prompts to install the proper drivers. or is there a safer sequence of steps?
I just restarted my computer and for some reason it gets stuck on the logo screen. I restarted it a few times and nothing happened, so I ran the Startup Repair tool. Here is the start of the log: Code: Startup Repair diagnosis and repair log.
I recently purchased a Microsoft Wireless 3000 keyboard new. After plugging in the USB receiver and installing the batteries to the keyboard, it seemed everything was going to work. The noise came on that a USB device had been plugged in and it then installed the proper drivers. When I tried to type or use any function on the keyboard, though, it was unresponsive-the keys don't work.
I then tried the following troubleshooting: 1) unplugged my older keyboard (Logitech Office Pro Keyboard PS/2). Then I tried rebooting with it still I unplugged. 2) Inserted the installation disc that came with the new keyboard. I window popped up saying that the program (intelliType) cannot be opened because it is being blocked for compatibility issues. (that is all it said-no cause stated). Restarted computer and tried it again-same outcome. 3) Downloaded the latest driver from the Microsoft website . I made sure it was the exact format for my computer (Windows 7, 64-bit, Keyboard Version 2.0). Installed it fine. I am able to open the intellitype program and configure the various key functions. No response from keyboard though. Restarted computer-nothing changed. 4) Uninstalled (what I could) the Logitech software SetPoint. From my perusal on the internet, it seems it is a very difficult program to uninstall. I deleted the folders from my c: Drive. It was not listed in 'Programs and Features' 5) Uninstalled the intellitype software, rebooted, and let the OS install the generic drivers for the Microsoft keyboard. 6) I went into the BIOS and noticed that the USB Keyboard function was disabled. I enabled it and the other USB functions (mouse, etc.) options were enabled. 7) Replaced the batteries twice-both brand new. The green light next to the battery symbol on the keyboard comes on for a moment after I install the batteries. 8) Tried different USB ports for the wireless receiver. Each time there is that sound that notifies a USB device has been plugged in. The OS even recognizes that it is a wireless receiver. Rebooted computer.
I even tried rebooting with the old keyboard disconnected but I am forced to plug it back in eventually as I have no other way of typing. The keyboard is recognized in device manager (Microsoft Hardware USB Keyboard, Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard (IntelliType Pro), Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Detection Driver). Currently, the IntelliType software is loaded and the SetPoint software uninstalled. Could it be a faulty keyboard?

I lost a couple of parts of my Asus P7P55D Deluxe motherboard after a lightning storm. The board still works, but I lost the audio and the Ethernet ports. The closest replacement that I could get was the P7P55D-E deluxe (note the added -E). Lost the x4 PCI-E slot in that swap, but I'm not using it anymore. The system booted immediately with the new board and the old OS. But after I installed all of the drivers for that board in the Asus site, I lost the ability to safely remove SATA drives. Not only don't the internal drives show up, as they used to, but when I add a drive to one of my hotswap bays, it can't be stopped, either. The bays are attached to the southbridge ports, which have been set to AHCI mode.
My best guess is the Intel Rapid Storage Tech drivers. Installing these put an icon in my icon corral that continually informs me that the RST service is not started (even though Services shows it as running). I'm planning on falling back to my most recent OS backup, testing that I get the safe removal icon, and adding drivers one at a time until it goes away. Then blame the last driver.
If i remove/uninstall 'High Definition Audio Device' Driver in Device Manager will Windows Update find it again?Because im having crackling issues basicly the sound is really choppy and choppy basicly and it makes my ram go to 100%
I was just wondering if there is a software that you can get to find out which drivers are out of date on your pc and show where u can update them? sorry if its a stupid question.
Well, I was messing around and thought I would test out the Vista beta 182.06 drivers vs. the drivers you get through Windows Update. All I did was run a demo in Team Fortress 2 in with both drivers. Also my gfx card is a 7800gt, so this might not apply to newer cards.
Of course take this with a grain of salt, especially for newer systems, but if you have an older pc, and are running with the 182.06 or maybe Vista drivers in general, try using the Windows Update drivers again. I know which one's I will be using from now on.
I just finished building my PC. I read in many places in Internet about drivers updates and they all say I shouldn't update my driver from the CD provided from the manufacturer but from Internet and install them in a USB flash drive. So that's what I did, I installed my BIOS current driver and other MOBO drivers in my USB flash drive. However, I don't know now how to update my drivers without the CD's. I would like some help on how to update all my drivers (my PC is completly new) using a USB flash drive.
Is it better to systematically update drivers (update 1, then 2, then 3) or is it better to just update to the latest driver (going from update 1 straight to 3 thus skipping 2)?
I have never updated my drivers, and I want to update them because I am having a few problems, after playing a PC game my computer sometimes flickers static lines and my sound driver FU**ING PISSES ME OFF, the headphones sometimes work and sometimes don't work. And I can't set my headphones to default device (their called communication headphones, they are gamer headphones with a mic).
What is the most efficient way to ensure that all device drivers are up to date? I am nervous about updating any drivers for fear of screwing up my laptop which seems to be running just fine. Thoughts? Also, there is a product, Device Doctor, that claims to identify and download updated drivers. Is this product safe? Can I rely on this product 100%?
I can't find the drivers for my Mobile Intel 915GM/PM/GMS & 910GML, in windows update. In my previous installation I was able find it in windows update.
is there a tool that can be used to update all your drivers? like i mean something that will scan them and tell you if they need to be updated? i've tried device manager all the time, and it never finds any updates. i think in the 3 computer that ive owned, only 1 got an update from device manager.with my current, fresh install, and device manager dident recognize that i had updates for the video driver, Ethernet, etc.
When using update service in Windows 7 sometimes I get some drivers update and I wonder which drivers are this? are the made by microsoft or they are the real deal from hardware manufacturer.
I want to remove print drivers and am having issues. When I go to the devices and printers and select on a any printer, then go to Print server properties, then select the drivers tab, choose a driver I want to remove and select remove. When I choose the next few settings and then get to the removal section, it gives me an issue that I cannot delete because in use.
